ABSTRACT

A dependency was found between total protein content and cataract maturity (P=-0.91, p<0.01). LPO intensity sharply increased and remained stably high after appearance of lens opacity. A strict negative correlation was found between the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids in earwax and lens nucleus (P=-0.7, p<0.01). The content of conjugated dienes, crotonic aldehyde, and Schiff bases decreased during cataract development. The content of vitamins B(2), A, and E decreased with increasing brown coloration of lens nucleus. Studying the parameters of lipid metabolism in wax-producing glands of the external ear canal we can evaluate the disturbances in lipid metabolism in the lens, which was confirmed by the correlation between fatty acid composition of the earwax and lens nucleus. These data do not demonstrate the dependence of the lens state on earwax, but suggest general features of the process in organs and tissues during aging. Some markers in the blood of patients with cataract change during progress of lens opacity and intensification of brown coloration of lens nucleus, but these changes are inspecific and reflect general activation of peroxidation processes and antioxidant system.

ABSTRACT

Smoking effect on oral fluid protein metabolism and oxidative balance were studied in medical school students (15 smokers and 15 none-smokers as a control group, mean age 19,8±1,4 years). Smoking caused intensification of lipoperoxidation and decrease in antioxidation activity thus proving it to be the reason of harmful metabolic shift in oral fluid.

ABSTRACT

Sugar substitute products impact on oral fluid protein and carbohydrate content, as well as oxidative balance were studied in 60 medical school students in compare with conventional sugar. Sugar intake proved to cause cariesogenic carbohydrate metabolism disorders in oral fluid, intensification of lipoperoxidation and decrease in antioxidation activity. Sugar substitute products help to prevent dental decay.

ABSTRACT

The rate of lipid peroxidation, the antiradical defense in red blood cells, the levels of cholesterol and phospholipids, and resistance of erythrocytes to hemolysis were studied in cyclic and non-cyclic sportsmen. Seventy-one male athletes aged 18-25 years were examined. A control group included 15 apparently healthy untrained volunteer students of the same age. Exercise was given in dose of as 13500-27000 Kgm during bicycle ergometer tests. Blood samples were taken by venepuncture at rest before and 5 and 30 minutes after exercise. It was found that intensity of lipoperoxidation, anti-radical protection in erythrocytes and stability of erythrocytes to hemolytic depended on adaptation to the amount and character of regular muscular activities. The findings allow the above parameters to be recommended in the comprehensive evaluation of the functional status of sportsmen.

ABSTRACT

The comprehensive biochemical examination of 20 patients with fractures of shin and thigh bones aged from 18 to 50 years was organized. The treatment consisted of skeletal traction meaning a lingering limitation of locomotive activity The blood sampled at 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th and 35th days after trauma. The blood plasma was analyzed to establish the indicators of protein and purine metabolism, lipoperoxidation processes and antiradical activity. The study established the catabolic direction of metabolism and the intensification of lipoperoxidation processes of the background of decreasing of antiradical activity. The research data can be recommended to apply in controlling the impact of forced limitation of locomotive activity on the course of post-trauma process.

ABSTRACT

The role of free radical oxidation and the condition of antioxidant protection in case of the development of acute physical overexertion was shown. 24 male rats were studied. The above rats underwent muscular exertion in the form of loads during swimming. The load accounted for 10% of the body weight.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the current study was to investigate findings, peculiarities, parameters and indicators of protein, carbohydrate, lipid and purinic metabolism in the blood, erythrocytes and homogenate of femur muscles in case of moderate and maximal physical exertion. 24 male rats were studied. The above rats underwent muscular exertion in the form of loads during swimming. The load accounted for 10% of the body weight. Specific changes of metabolism due to the influence of moderate and maximal physical muscular exertion were revealed. Mechanisms of atherogenic effects in maximal muscular exertion are discussed.

ABSTRACT

Study status of cholesterol metabolism, processes of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection in blood plasma, erythrocytes and homogenates of the, heart, liver, muscle femors of rats attached to movement active. Establishment effects application of ascorbic acid and alpha-tocopherol. Ascorbic acid and alpha-tocopherol were infused daily. The daily dosage was 2 and 1 mg respectively. Characteristic shift changes of cholesterol metabolism in conditions of limited muscular activity were revealed. It was shown that vitamin antioxidants play a role in correction of metabolic disorders in case of immobile distress syndrome.

ABSTRACT

In the article the estimation of change of lipoperoxidation parameters is lead (carried out) at introduction to a diet of rats synbiotic dairy foods and synbiotic bifidobacteria cultures. Changes in the oxidation products level, ceruloplasmin level, and also in the colon bifidobacteria concentration are revealed.

ABSTRACT

Mitochondrial substrate-based preparations corrected disorders, caused by long-term exposure to abnormal gravitation vector in head-down tilt (hanging) test in rats. The preparations produced systemic and polyorgan protective effects consisting in correction of the blood prooxidant/antioxidant balance, energy metabolism in musculus soleus, and minimization of morphological changes in the liver and kidneys.
