ABSTRACT

In this paper, micromagnetic analysis of an array of long magnetic nanowires (NWs) embedded in a nonmagnetic matrix is performed. It is found that for NWs with diameters on the order of a hundred nanometers, the anisotropy and exchange energies are negligible, so the total free energy is a sum of the Zeeman and magnetostatic energies. The minimum magnetostatic energy corresponds to the maximum Zeeman energy, whereby half of the NWs are magnetized parallel to the external field, while the rest of the NWs are magnetized antiparallel to the external fields. The study shows a vortex behavior of the magnetic moments in the magnetization reversal process. Additionally, the hysteresis loop area of the nanocomposite is inversely proportional to the NW diameter in the range from 20 to 200 nm. The results pave the way for designing of NW-based devices such as optimized magnetic sensors for biomedical applications with a trade-off between miniaturization and energy loss.

ABSTRACT

We evaluate the efficiency of back-scattering, eta(B), from a standard cantilevered AFM probe contacting a flat sample, and also the back-scattering phase. Both quantities are spectroscopically determined over a broad 9-12 mum wavelength range by coherent frequency-comb Fourier-transform spectroscopy (c-FTIR). While Fresnel reflectivity contributes a key factor with the SiC Reststrahlen edge at 975 cm(-1)as previously documented, we observe spectral effects ascribable to antenna resonances involving the shaft, cantilever, and sample. Most conspicuous is strong (eta(B) = 13%), resonant back-scattering at 955 cm(-1), a frequency that suggests the involvement of surface-phonon-polariton excitation, when the tip probes the area near a SiC/Au boundary. The probe's antenna properties are elucidated by numerically simulating the near fields, the fields in the radiation zone, and the far-field scattering distributions. The simulations are performed for a realistic tip/sample configuration with a three-orders-of-magnitude scale variation. The results suggest a standing-surface-plasmon-polariton pattern along the shaft, as well as far-field antenna lobes that change with the sample's dielectric properties.

ABSTRACT

The results of investigations evidence a high efficacy of intravascular laser irradiation of the blood in the treatment of maxillofacial pyonecrotic processes. Such treatment is conducive to improvement of the immunologic reactivity, microcirculation, and regeneration. The method is simple, that recommends it for outpatient practice.

ABSTRACT

The work shows a possibility to use copper steam laser irradiation for treatment of postoperative pleura empyema in patients with lung cancer. Good effects of sanitation were obtained in 27 of 28 patients: 12 patients were cured, the rest of the patients had 6-8 months long remission.

ABSTRACT

The effect of intravenous blood radiation by low-intensity laser on tumour growth in Wistar rats with Pliss lymphosarcoma has been studied. As a result of single or double blood radiation by laser with wave-length of 510 and 633 nm both the tumour growth inhibition and metastases disappearance have been shown.

ABSTRACT

The analysis of surgical treatment of 134 patients has revealed a direct dependence of the results of treatment on the degree of the ventilatory insufficiency determined by the ventilation index (VI). The limit of the functional operability was determined on the basis of VI. It was shown that the estimation of the patient's state should be performed following a special preoperative preparation.

ABSTRACT

Under examination were seventy four patients with different combinations of primary multiple malignant tumors. In patients with 2 skin tumor nodes a high percent of delayed allergic reactions was found in response to the use of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) and a correlated with the former high coefficient of the percutaneous test with tripan blue (QD). The mentioned indices are diminished as the third or more skin tumor nodes appear. In polyneoplasia involving internal organs delayed allergic reactions were found to be absent and QD markedly reduced.
