ABSTRACT
Ascites and pleural effusion associated with "fibroma-like ovarian" benign tumor is described as Meigs syndrome. Tumor extirpation resulted in ascites and pleural effusion resorption. This rather unusual syndrome, should not be overlooked.

Cystadenoma of the seminal vesicle is an extremely rare benign tumor, which to our findings has only been mentioned earlier in seven previous reports. It is a benign and mostly multilocular tumor, thought to originate from embryologic remnants. Preoperative diagnosis is rarely made. Complete extirpation is the correct treatment. We present this first Belgian case with a discussion of imaging techniques, symptomatology, pathology, diagnosis, and treatment.

Baker's cysts can produce pressure on draining lymphatics and veins in the knee, producing oedema of the lower leg. These cysts are often mistakenly treated as deep vein thrombosis.

The value of bipedal lymphography and computed tomography (CT) in the presurgical staging of early carcinoma of the uterine cervix was analysed in 62 patients by histologic examination of pelvic lymph nodes and parametrial extension at the time of surgery. Macroscopic invasion of the lymph nodes was detected in 33% of the patients by CT and in 17% by lymphography. Microscopic invasion was suspected in 9% by CT scan and in 38% by lymphography. Physical examination with measurement of the tumor diameter was more predictive for regional extension of the disease as compared to lymphography and CT. CT may detect subclinical parametrial invasion but overestimation of the extent of the disease is common. Bipedal lymphography and CT add only limited information to the routine presurgical staging of cancer of the uterine cervix.

During the last two years a total of 53 liver angiomas in 35 patients were examined by sonography. The angiomatous nature of these lesions was proven by angiography, CT, laparotomy, laparoscopy or autopsy. In this material the most striking sonographic data are the reflective character of the angiomas (94%), the subcapsular location (70%), the small size under 2 cm. (32%) and the multiplicity (35%). 90% of the lesions larger than 3 cm. tend to display polylobular contours.

The dynamic computed tomographic image of liver hemangioma has recently been reported as being sufficiently diagnostic thus, avoiding further invasive procedures. In the present report the computed tomographic and angiographic images of hemangioma were correlated based on the 15 patients (totaling 27 lesions) who were examined by both modalities. Despite careful technique, a full dynamic computed tomography sequence was obtained in only 11 patients. In eight of these 11 patients the scan image displayed all characteristics of liver angioma; in three the lesion could not confidently be differentiated from metastatic disease.

A case of perirenal lymphatic cysts demonstrated by computed tomography is reported. These lymphatic cysts, a histological subtype of lymphangiomata, are clearly visible as collections with clear fluid-type density surrounding both kidneys. The retroperitoneal localization of this rarity has been reported in the radiological literature, whereas, to our knowledge, the radiological demonstration of the perirenal localization has not. CT provides a unique method for direct radiological visualization of the cyst.

The theoretical basis for and the technique of intravenous contrast enhancement by bolus injection for dynamic CT examination of the kidney are described. The clinical applications of this method include the study of normal vascular anatomy of the kidney, congenital kidney abnormalities and form variants, space-occupying lesions, and kidney trauma. In tumoral lesions of the kidney, dynamic CT aids in detecting the lesion as well as in the tumor staging and evaluating operability. CT time density curves can be used to study disturbances in renal perfusion, but the clinical value of this method needs further confirmation.
