ABSTRACT

The author emphasizes the necessity of reoperation on the nasal septum if the previous surgery failed to correct it adequately and a positive functional result was not achieved. A technique of reoperation in different modifications is proposed with a differential approach depending on the deformity type, scope of surgical intervention on its osteocartilaginous base, presence of complications (synechia, perforation). Data on the reoperation on the nasal septum made within 14 years are presented for 196 patients.

ABSTRACT

Antrodrainage methods are reviewed. To easy endaural drainage, a special drill is proposed. It has been used for trephine puncture of the antrum in 60 patients (55 with otitis purulenta chronica and in 5 with exudative otitis media). Positive diagnostic and therapeutic significance of endaural drainage as well as necessity of its further perfection and wider usage in practice are emphasized.

ABSTRACT

Tympanopuncture was made with a needle having a step gradation to its thin end. Such a needle abates traumaticity of this manipulation and extends its applicability. The above modification was called by the author microtympanopuncture. The review of 7000 cases of microtympanopuncture is given. Indications for this procedure and its possible complications are outlined. Microtympanopuncture can be made in outpatient setting and therefore must find wider application.
