ABSTRACT

Intravenous infection of C57Bl/6 female mice with M. tuberculosis H37Rv led to involvement of the lungs and dissemination of the tuberculous infection to the abdominal and pelvic organs. M. tuberculosis were detected in the lungs and spleen in 14, 35, and 90 days and in the uterine horns in 90 days after infection. Morphological analysis of organs showed successive development of exudative necrotic tuberculosis of the lungs, acute and chronic nonspecific inflammation in the reproductive organs (vagina, uterus, and uterine horns). The inflammatory process in the reproductive organs was associated with the development of anaerobic dysbiosis, that was most pronounced in 35 days after infection. Antituberculous therapy was followed by reduction of M. tuberculosis count in the lungs and spleen in 60 and 90 days after infection, eliminatation of M. tuberculosis in the uterine horns, arrest of nonspecific inflammation in female reproductive organs, recovery of the balance between aerobic and anaerobic microflora, and development of candidiasis of the urogenital mucosa.

ABSTRACT

There are many publications on the problems of the vaginal candidiasis treatment. Still, the actuality is in the frequency of the relapses and registration of the pediatric cases. Unfortunately, the majority of the pediatrists prescribe antibiotics but either forget to prescribe the simultaneous use of antifungal drugs, or prescribe nystatin, an antimycotic, that is known to be active only in the intestine lumen. As a result, candidiasis of the stomatopharynx or vagina is developed. Of no less importance is the fact of marketing many generics in Russia, which often prove to be false after their detailed investigation. The paper presents specific characteristics pertaining to the origin and development of vulvovaginal candidiasis in girls and indicates drugs with proved efficacy in normalization of the vagina microbiocenosis in girls.

ABSTRACT

The study of the vaginal microbial cenosis in 20 healthy girls aged 3-7 years did not confirm the notion on the dominating role of cocci (including epidermal staphylococci). The associations of 2-5 different microorganisms represented by more than 20 species in an amount of 4-6 Ig PFC/g of discharge were established. In the overwhelming majority of the examinees (84.2%) the microbial associations of the vagina were found to contain bifidobacteria. Gram positive cocci (staphylococci and streptococci) took the 2nd and 3rd places in the isolation rates and were detected in vaginal associations in 78.9% of the girls. Staphylococci were represented by 5 coagulase-negative staphylococcal species with S. simulans and S. epidermidis prevailing. Hemolytic streptococci variants alpha and beta were isolated in the proportion of 2:1. The latter belonged to serogroups C and F. No S. aureus, Lactobacillus sp., streptococci of groups A and B, yeast-like fungi were detected. Genital mycoplasms (M. hominis) could rarely be found in the vaginal discharge of the girls aged 3-7 years (5.3%). No resident and transitory components could be isolated from the normal vaginal microflora and no quantitative domination of any bacterial species (genus) was shown. The concentrations of all organisms in this association were moderate or low.

ABSTRACT

The mental health of children and adolescents who suffered from gastrointestinal diseases due to psychosomatic causes (duodenal ulcer, chronic gastroduodenitis) was examined. Those with the diseases are a group at risk for nervous and mental disorders, and impaired psychophysical adaptation.

ABSTRACT

Forty-three patients aged 18 to 52 with combined diseases of the uterus and abnormal uterine bleedings were examined and followed up. The patients were prescribed danazon in a dose of 400 mg/day for 6 months to induce a short-term drug pseudomenopause. Immediate (in the cycle of drug discontinuation) and late (6 months after therapy discontinuation) results were assessed. A stable positive effect was observed in 12 women of premenopausal age over the course of 12-month follow-up; 10 patients were operated on for a recurrence of uterine bleedings and growth of uterine myomas. The mechanism of danazon effect on the female reproductive system and prospects of its use in diseases of the endo- and myometrium are discussed.

ABSTRACT

The study included 96 women with combined benign hyperplastic uterine conditions. Half of them underwent a radical uterine resection and were examined at 3.1 +/- 0.2 years following the operation. The rest were randomly selected as matched pairs and were evaluated at 4.3 +/- 0.13 years following multicomponent treatment including hormones (n-26) and cryohormonal treatment (n-22). Analysis of results revealed a complex pathogenesis of this disease of the reproductive tract, presenting as severe postoperative vegetoneurotic disorders. Potential of an adequate conservative treatment in preserving specific female functions was determined.

ABSTRACT

The paper is concerned with results of a study of clinico-biologic effect of a gestagen norsteroid drug--norcolut--on solitary and combined lesions of the endo- and myometrium. Four hundred and thirty-four patients of reproductive age with hyperplasia or polyps of the endometrium, uterine myoma, internal endometriosis or a combination of the pathologies were examined prior to administration of norcolut and during posttreatment cycle to evaluate the influence of the drug on the female reproductive system. Norcolut exerted the regulatory effect on the rhythm and pattern of menstruation and inhibited tumor growth. Also, changes in localization of myoma nodes, normalization of steroid hormone profile, decrease in the level of estradiol and progesterone receptors, and secretory transformation of the endometrium were observed. Those changes resulted in regression of endometrial lesions.

ABSTRACT

The definition of concomitant benign hyperplastic diseases of the uterus relates to the abnormalities of the female reproductive system which are accompanied with a simultaneous development of uterine hyperplasias or endometrial polyps, myomas and/or endometriosis. The investigation of 290 patients of reproductive age revealed a multifactorial origin of the aforementioned diseases. Anamnestic, gynecological, dermatoglyphic, hormonal and receptor investigation techniques used in parallel with a routine general clinical examination evidenced systemic lesions and defined clinical and pathogenetic differences in the conditions associated with hyperplasia or endometrial polyps. The authors substantiated the use of various methods in the system of treatment: the use of nonsteroidal drugs with gestagen properties and cryogenic application to the walls of the uterus.

ABSTRACT

Clinical and metabolic effects of depot-injections of estradiol valerianate-dehydroepiandrosterone enanthate at a 1:50 ratio (Gynodian-depot) in the treatment of severe clinical manifestations of the vegetoneurotic syndrome were evaluated in menopuasal patients after hysterectomy for uterine myoma. Favourable comprehensive effects of the drug were noted, which in most patients contributed to the elimination or significant alleviation of major vegetoneurotic, psychoemotional and metabolic-endocrine disorders. An effective combination of the estrogenic and androgenic hormonal components and their ratios, coupled with very insignificant side-effects, is an important advantage of the drug, permitting its large-scale use for the control of menopausal complications, particularly after surgery for a uterine tumour.
