ABSTRACT

Results of clinical examination and laboratory analysis as well as treatment of patients with torpid inflammatory forms of acne resistant to long-term antimicrobial therapy are presented and discussed. The combined treatment included longidase ultraphonophoresis that produced beneficial effect on the patients' dermatological status. Results of the study suggest the possibility of efficacious correction of the disturbed skin microbiocenosis. Specifically, concentration of all microorganisms sampled and cultured in the follow-up period did not exceed 10 4 CFU/ml. The amount of pathogenic flora (Staphylococcus haemoliticus and S. aureus) on the skin surface in 23% of the patients was significantly smaller than before the initiation of therapy. In 66.7% of the patients, the skin was totally free from Staphylococci of both species.

ABSTRACT

Laser Doppler flowmetry discovered microcirculatory disorders in acne patients. Affected are arterioles as well as capillaries and venules. Combination of magnetotherapy with medication improves microcirculation in acne patients. More marked positive changes occurred in the microcirculatory system due to combined treatment compared to medication therapy only. Thus, laser Doppler flowmetry is a new, noninvasive method of assessing microcirculation in acne patients and can serve an objective criterion of treatment efficacy.

ABSTRACT

A stable increase in the rate of birth of children with congenital developmental defects in general and, specifically, with cleft lip and palate was observed in Moscow in 1979-1993. Regions of the city with stable high and low annual incidence of birth of children with maxillofacial clefts were distinguished.
