ABSTRACT

Morphological assessment of two samples of monoclonal antibodies (mcAB) to gamma-unit of neurospecific human enolase (NSE) is performed. It is established that mcABs interact in the tissue sections with neurons of the brain and spinal cord, gangliocytes of the central and peripheral nervous system this proving their specificity. 56 cases of lung carcinoma are studied using these mcABs; endocrine carcinoma was found in 11 cases, nonendocrine--in 45 cases. Neuroendocrine differentiation is revealed in 8 of 45 cases of non-small cell carcinoma; in all observations of small cell carcinoma NSE was found.

ABSTRACT

Two observations (patients of 52- and 48-years old) in which endometrial carcinoma developed in one half of a double uterus. Tumours were highly differentiated and completely replaced a left half of the uterus. The endometrium of the right half was with no change. 52-year--old patients had endometrioid carcinoma of the right ovary as well.

ABSTRACT

The main peculiarities of the clinical course of lung sarcoma were determined from representative material of 134 patients. The main features differentiating malignant nonepithelial tumors from carcinoma of the lung are: younger age (average age 45.5 years), predominantly peripheral clinico-anatomical form (82.8%), and prevalent hematogenic metastasis. Five-year survival in the whole group of patients after surgical treatment was 54%. The size and histological form of the tumor are the main factors of prognosis. The degree of differentiation acquires prognostic significance in tumors measuring more than 3 cm in diameter.

ABSTRACT

Immunohistological localization of antigens revealed by 5 MoAbs to human lung adenocarcinoma cell line was studied by indirect immunoperoxidase technique. One of the MoAbs--A2F4--showed a relative specificity to epithelial tissues having a glandular differentiation. Except approximately 50% of normal cells of lungs and those of pulmonary tumours (mostly adenocarcinomas) they reacted with some other normal (stomach, oesophagus, breast) and tumoral (gastric, mammary and colonic) tissue cells. Other four MoAbs reacted with the much larger number of cells including some nonepithelial (granulocytes and histiocytes) ones.

ABSTRACT

Immunohistochemical methods were used to identify A2F4 monoclonal antibodies raised by immunization of animals with a human lung adenocarcinoma cell line in 17 lung adenocarcinomas and five pulmonary metastases of other origin. The antigen identified by the antibodies was registered in 53% of lung adenocarcinomas. Localization of the pulmonary antigen was compared with that of the carcinoembryonic antigen. The expression of the antigens proved different.
