ABSTRACT

56 patients at the age of 18-60 years with severe trauma were examined. Influence of the polyelectrolytic (Reamberin)solution on an acid-base state, osmolarity and electrolytic composition of plasma in the acute posttraumatic period was evaluated. It was found that patients, who was treated by isotonic sodium chloride solution and Ringer's solution, had metabolic acidosis and hyperchloremia. In contrast, in the reamberin group 82% of patients had lower concentrations of chloride and had nothing acid-base disturbances on the second day after trauma. Reamberin didn't influence on plasma osmolarity and the rate of metabolic alkalosis during the acute period of a trauma.

ABSTRACT

The study was concerned with evaluation of the effect of human gastric juice (samples obtained from 157 subjects) on in vitro dimethylnitrosamine nitrosation by sodium nitrite versus gastric mucosa pathology (gastritis, polyps, ulcer, cancer), gastric juice pH and nitrate ion level. Also, the influence of gastric juice glycosaminoglycans and glycoproteins levels as well as N-acetylneuraminic acid isolated from porcine blood was assessed. An increased nitrosating activity of gastric juice was observed in cases of gastritis and ulcer and in those with low nitrate ion activity. Glycosaminoglycans and glycoproteins were found to inhibit nitrosation. N-acetylneuraminic acid in the concentrations used exerted no effect on dimethylnitrosamine nitrosation by sodium nitrite.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with a comparison of the results of human body nitrosating ability determination by two methods: (a) nitroso compound (NC) assay in diurnal urine after oral administration of its precursors, and (b) assay of the same in gastric juice after in vitro addition of precursors. The data for the first part of the investigation were obtained from the literature, and for the second one--from the experiments by the authors. Both studies used essentially identical groups of patients, primarily those suffering gastrointestinal pathology. Since the results matched to a considerable degree, it was inferred that (1) gastric juice is a factor of body nitrosating ability, and (2) in vitro determinations of said ability in gastric juice are fully justified. Moreover, the latter procedure is sometimes more practicable, particularly, in view of the marked relationship between nitrosating ability, and, especially, the efficacy of inhibitors of NC endogenous synthesis, on the one hand, and the individual characteristics of the body, on the other.

ABSTRACT

The paper discusses the effect of vitamins C and E and Plantaglucide on nitroso compounds yield in the course of nitrosation of amines in human gastric juice. The study group included 56 subjects. The above drugs capable of inhibiting in vitro nitrosation produced an anomalous effect in gastric juice of some subjects, i.e. potentiated nitroso compounds yield in nitrosation of amines by sodium nitrite. The said action of vitamins C and E was apparent in dimethylamine and amidopyrine nitrosation but it was not in morpholine nitrosation. Sharply increased levels in nitroso compounds were observed in some mice fed precursors of nitroso compounds in combination with vitamin C and Plantaglucide. These data point to an anomalous effect of the drugs on the body.

ABSTRACT

With the help of fibrocolonoscopy 200 electroexcisions of epithelial polyps of the colon were performed in 116 patients. Control endoscopic examinations revealed 24 cases (12,0%) of recurrent polyps in the zone of their excision. A rational method of the dispensary follow-up of the patients after electrosurgical polypectomy during fibrocolonoscopy was elaborated on the bases of studying some factors influencing substantially the prognosis of the disease.

ABSTRACT

222 electric polypectomies were performed in the course of fibrocolonoscopy carried out in 114 patients. The results of examination of 172 removed neoplasms testified to the high effectiveness of the procedure in identifying the morphological structure of colonic polyps. Due to application of endoscopic polypectomy, which is essentially a total biopsy, histological diagnosis obtained on the basis of aiming biopsy was improved or modified in 67% of cases. However, aiming biopsy should be used because more than 20% of resected polyps fail to be removed from colonic lumen.

ABSTRACT

The work analyzes results of complex examination of 88 patients with cancer of the large intestine. Correct diagnosis was made in 80 patients by fibrocolonoscopy combined with biopsy. The endoscopic method was found to have certain advantages over X-ray analysis for diagnosis of cancer of the large intestine especially in cases with small tumors. Complex employment of these methods was most efficient and allowed to make a true character of the disease in all the examined patients.

ABSTRACT

The work is based upon the study of findings obtained in the examination and treatment of 27 cases of stomach stump polyposis. The fibrogastroscopy revealed polyps in all 27 patients. The target gastrobiopsy was carried out upon all the case of adenomatous polyps of the stomach stump, which permitted to find out the true character of the disease in 26 of them. Hence, the fibrogastroscopy done together with the target gastrobiopsy proves to be the most effective method of the diagnosis of polyps of the stomach stump.

ABSTRACT

The work is based on studying the examination and therapy data of 108 patients with gastric stump cancer. In patients subjected to proximal gastric resection (8 observations) tumor was recognized in all cases both by fibergastroscopy and radiography. Of 100 patients with cancer of the gastric stump following distal resection the true character of the pathology was revealed fibergastroscopically in 97% of cases, while radiographically--only in 86%. Directed gastrobiopsy and cytological test of the material obtained by fibergastroscopy supported the diagnosis of gastric stump cancer in 67.05% and 76.60% of cases accordingly. Squamous cell-infiltrative cancer of the gastric stump, located in the region of the postperative scar, proved to be mostly difficult to diagnose both by fibergastroscopy and radiography. No distinct correlation was noted between the efficiency of fibergastroscopy for diagnosing gastric stump cancer and the size of tumor, while tumors of no more than. 1.0--1.5 cm in diameter were found to be mostly difficult to diagnosis radiographically. Among 108 gastric stump cancer patients 25 patients were radically operated upon.

ABSTRACT

The authors report 7000 gastroscopic investigations for various gastric lesions. In ulcerous disease with localization of ulcer in the stomach fibrogastroscopy permitted establishing the precise diagnosis in 91.18% of cases, whereas roentgenological studies - in 78.75%. Gastric polyps are also recognized rather more frequently (98.26%) while using gastroscopy than a roentgenological study. An application of fibrogastroscopy in the complex diagnosis of gastric lesions seems to be mandatory since it provides for the correct diagnosis in 100% of patients.
