ABSTRACT

A method of high frequency image filtration improving the quality of imaging, and more precise renometry with measurement of the total count and the level of RP kidney accumulation were used for raising the informative value of the results of renal scintigraphy with 99m Tc-DMSA. 54 patients with unilateral pyelonephritis, 46--with bilateral pyelonephritis, 15--with nephroptosis, and 10 healthy persons were examined. Informative values were calculated on the basis of the results of these investigations. The sensitivity of routine renometry was 0.88, its specificity--0.27 and precision--0.78; the same indices for routine static scintigraphy were 0.88; 0.4 and 0.84; for modified renal investigations--0.98; 0.77 and 0.96, respectively. The results of the investigations have shown that the use of scintigraphy with improved quality of kidney images in parallel with modified renometry raises the informative value of renal studies with 99m Tc-DMSA and precision of diagnosis of renal parenchymal lesions.

ABSTRACT

The authors proposed a method of cholescintigraphy with functional imaging reflecting RP distribution within the entire area in the field of vision of a gamma-chamber detector taking account of the type of motor activity of the gall bladder. This method was based on plotting an activity-time curve along the outer contour of a gall bladder image, the determination of moments of change in gall bladder motor activity on this curve, and the calculation of corresponding gradients of RP accumulation and clearance functions represented on an image where the color of each element was determined by a sign of the gradient and its intensity--by its absolute value. The use of this method in 92 patients made it possible to reveal conditions with possible B-bile reflux into the intrahepatic ducts, and to raise its diagnostic accuracy by 7% as compared to a routine analysis of activity-time curves by decreasing the number of false-negative results.

ABSTRACT

Diagnostic potentialities of investigation of the kidneys using 99mTc-pyrophosphate were studied in 34 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for articular scintigraphy. The results obtained were compared with those of radionuclide renography with 131I-hippuran and excretory urography. A possibility of investigation of the kidneys with 99mTc-pyrophosphate for the assessment of parenchyma function and kidney urodynamics was shown. Taking into account a high prevalence of nephropathy in RA patients, dynamic renal scintigraphy and clearance registration were recommended at the first stage of articular scintigraphy with 99mTc-pyrophosphate in order to obtain information on the anatomotopographic site and accumulation-evacuatory function of the kidneys.

ABSTRACT

The authors have provided a comparative analysis of various modifications of radionuclide ventriculography and assessment of their potentialities for clinical use. A total of 120 patients with chronic nonspecific lung diseases, coronary heart disease and rheumatic heart disease were examined. It was established that the most accurate information to assess myocardial contractility was obtained by a method of the determination of the ejection fraction by the "activity-time" curve with a fixed zone of interest, and the universal patient's position was the left front oblique projection. The right ventricular ejection fraction was determined in parallel with the study of the left ventricular ejection fraction characterizing myocardial contractility in cardiovascular pathology. The study of the former extended significantly the potentialities of radionuclide ventriculography, allowed the assessment of the hemodynamic state of the lesser circulation and compensatory potentialities of the right ventricle of the heart in cardiopulmonary pathology.

ABSTRACT

The motor activity of the gall bladder was studied using cholescintigraphy with 99m Tc-HIDA in 57 patients with chronic cholecystitis and chronic hepatitis and in 9 controls. A comparative analysis of the curves activity-time based upon the elements of images of the external contour and the entire zone of the gall bladder, made it possible to reveal differences in the type of reaction of the gall bladder to the use of cholagogic stimulators (cholecystokinin i.v. and cholagogic breakfast). A method of the processing of the results made it possible to determine the number of contraction phases of the gall bladder during its emptying as well as the true latent period and the period of primary reactions of the biliferous apparatus after taking a food stimulus.
