Health insurance literacy gauges how knowledgeable people are regarding the comparison of health insurance plans to find out the optimal health plan that suits their needs and preferences. Enrolling in a comprehensive plan and proactively addressing health and financial aspects can fortify the stability of families. The plan needs to be used effectively by adapting to evolving circumstances and prioritizing the well-being and prosperity of the household. Having public health insurance can significantly impact an individual's utilization of healthcare services. Having health insurance encourages individuals to promptly seek medical attention without hesitating or avoiding treatment due to financial worries. This results in higher utilization of healthcare services, encompassing routine check-ups, preventive care, and timely intervention for illnesses and injuries. Public health insurance can also improve access to specialized care and expensive treatments that may otherwise be unaffordable for individuals without insurance. By having health insurance, individuals and families can experience a decrease in the economic strain associated with healthcare expenses, thereby enhancing the accessibility and affordability of healthcare services.

ABSTRACT

The development of nanocosmetics nanotechnology has ushered in a new age in cosmetic research, completely changing the skincare scene. This abstract investigates the relationship between skincare and nanotechnology, particularly emphasizing the effects of nanocosmetics on skin health. Cosmetics, known as "nanocosmetics," use materials at the nanoscale, typically between 1 and 100 nanometers, to improve the effectiveness and delivery of active chemicals. Nanotechnology in cosmetics allows for the development of sophisticated delivery methods that provide enhanced stability and tailored distribution, including nanoemulsions and nanocapsules. This breakthrough overcomes the constraints of conventional formulations by enabling the entry of active ingredients into the skin's deeper layers. Studies investigating nanocosmetics and skin health were included. This encompassed in vitro studies, animal models, and clinical studies of various designs. Exclusion criteria included studies focusing solely on nanotechnology unrelated to skin health or nanocosmetics and review articles editorials, commentaries, and conference abstracts. Nanocosmetics is a groundbreaking development in skincare that provides creative answers to a range of skin issues. As the area develops, realizing the full potential of nanotechnology in fostering ideal skin health will need sustained research and adherence to safety regulations.

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, severity continues to rise worldwide. This systematic review seeks to examine the prevalence of diabetes and its associated comorbid conditions, aiming to provide insights into the multifaceted impact of diabetes on a broader scale. DM exhibits a positive correlation with advancing age, and it's strongly influenced by genetic predisposition. In recent years, there has been a discernible global increase in the prevalence of type 1 diabetes (T1D), as evidenced by extensive epidemiological studies. Individuals with DM frequently have a positive familial history, and the presence of DM in both parents or solely the mother significantly amplifies genetic susceptibility. Moreover, non-genetic factors, such as acute psychological stressors, obesity, pregnancy, and smoking play a pivotal role in the development of DM. Notably, urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common comorbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and all patients with T1D. T2D is prevalent, particularly among females, and its incidence rises with age. UTIs are prevalent among individuals with diabetes, particularly females, with Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolates being the primary etiological agents responsible for UTI inflammation. Insulin resistance is a common feature in both prediabetes and prehypertension, serving as a precursor to these conditions. The increasing incidence of T2D in regions with high tuberculosis (TB) prevalence emphasizes the significance of understanding DM as a substantial TB risk factor. DM is associated with a threefold elevation in TB risk and a twofold increase in unfavorable outcomes during TB treatment. Notably, the global prevalence of DM has led to a larger population of TB patients with comorbid DM than TB patients coinfected with HIV. Diabetes and sepsis contribute significantly to worldwide morbidity and mortality, with diabetic individuals experiencing more post-sepsis complications and increased mortality. The coexistence of hypertension and T2D is a common comorbidity, with hypertension incidence being twice as high among individuals with diabetes compared to those without, often linked to insulin resistance and a heightened risk of diabetes onset.

Neurologists are well-versed with acute ischemic stroke, a serious public health concern. Effective acute stroke treatment is built on the rapid application of reperfusion therapy. This calls for prompt symptom recognition by the general population as well as emergency workers, proper referral to specialized stroke centers, and thorough examination and assessment by the on-site stroke team. The main goal of treatment for certain individuals is to restore blood flow to the ischemic penumbra by using intravenous thrombolysis and/or endovascular thrombectomy. Acute stroke patients must be hospitalized and continuously monitored for early neurological decline in order to avoid subsequent problems. After swiftly determining the stroke mechanism, patients can start the proper secondary preventative actions.

As a complex and difficult condition, gastric cancer (GC) continues to have a big impact on the world's health. The goal of this review article is to give a thorough summary of the most recent developments and research discoveries in the field of stomach cancer. The review discusses a wide range of topics, such as the epidemiology and risk factors for GC, molecular insights into its pathogenesis, the use of biomarkers in diagnosis and prognosis, current and novel therapeutic approaches, and the intriguing potential of immunotherapy. In addition, procedures for surgery, therapy strategies, and imaging modalities for diagnosis and staging are examined. The paper emphasizes how crucial it is to comprehend the tumor microenvironment and how it affects the course of the disease. Overall, this review provides a comprehensive assessment of the current body of knowledge, highlights research gaps, and suggests future lines of inquiry to enhance the treatment of GC.

The global pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has ushered in a new era of understanding the multifaceted nature of infectious diseases. Beyond its well-documented respiratory impact, COVID-19 has unveiled intricate interactions with the cardiovascular system, with potential implications that extend to bacterial endocarditis. This review explores the complex interplay between COVID-19 and bacterial endocarditis, elucidating shared risk factors, theoretical mechanisms, and clinical implications. We examine the diverse cardiovascular manifestations of COVID-19, ranging from myocarditis and thromboembolic events to arrhythmias, and delve into the pathogenesis, clinical features, and diagnostic challenges of bacterial endocarditis. By analyzing potential connections, such as viral-induced endothelial disruption and immune modulation, we shed light on the plausible relationship between COVID-19 and bacterial endocarditis. Our synthesis highlights the significance of accurate diagnosis, optimal management, and interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by these intricate interactions. In addition, we underscore the importance of future research, emphasizing prospective studies on bacterial endocarditis incidence and investigations into the long-term cardiovascular effects of COVID-19. As the boundaries of infectious diseases and cardiovascular complications converge, this review calls for continued research, vigilance, and coordinated efforts to enhance patient care and public health strategies in a rapidly evolving landscape.

ABSTRACT

The revised National Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program is an initiative undertaken by the government of India and was active from 1997 to 2020. Later it was renamed as National TB Elimination Program, which eyes the complete eradication of TB by 2025. The revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) is preceded by the National TB Control Program which was activated when the cases of TB were on the rise in the early 1960s and police intervention was needed. National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCP) guided the efforts until 1997 when various shortcomings, which were registered over the course of time, were addressed and the revised program was launched. It has been a mixed success as beneficiaries belonging to the reachable, urban areas were benefitted, and tribal, and backward areas were lagging behind. Although the RNTCP proved to be effective in containing TB and curing it to a certain extent, the successor of the program, which is NTEP, has set an ambitious goal of eradicating TB by 2025 which needs concerted efforts on behalf of all stakeholders.

ABSTRACT

Marchiafava Bignami disease is a demyelinating and necrotic disease of the central nervous system in chronic alcohol users and malnourished patients. The primary characteristic lesion of this disease is present in the corpus callosum in the form of its necrosis, but plenty of evidence suggests that it can also affect other parts of the brain. The main pathophysiology revolves around the consumption of alcohol and its ability to cause thiamine depletion in the body and hinder various metabolic pathways. There is also a hindrance in myelin synthesis, which further damages the signal transmission leading to an array of symptoms and signs. It is present in different degrees in patients in the form of different stages, namely acute, subacute, and chronic. The diagnosis of the disease becomes tough as the presenting symptoms are very generic and vague. Before the innovation of advanced imaging techniques, it was mainly a finding during an autopsy, but presently it can be diagnosed by a well-taken history and imaging techniques which can help to rule out other diseases having a similar clinical presentation. The gold standard for the diagnosis of the disease is using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques to visualize the lesions present in the corpus callosum and other areas, but other methods like computed tomography (CT) are also used. The prognosis of the disease is influenced by many factors, and it varies greatly. Some factors such as broad involvement of the cerebral cortex and severe disturbances in consciousness are indicative of a poor prognosis. The differential diagnosis consists of other alcohol use disorders like Wernicke's encephalopathy, neoplastic conditions, and multiple sclerosis, to mention a few. Each one should be carefully eliminated before finalizing the diagnosis. The treatment of the disease is not concrete, but evidence shows improvement with specific interventions.

Healthcare and technology, the fusion of these two distinct sciences can be traced back to the Vedic era. Regrettably, while it is evident that the journey of advancements in knowledge and innovation leading to the advent of technology to better the health of mankind is not a recent one, owing to inexistent means of transfer of knowledge, these contraptions stayed mostly localized to the regions of their inventors. This article seeks to review the vital role that technology has in bettering the health status of the global community and the challenges associated with healthcare technologies like inequity in connectivity, affordability, and accessibility. Technology and artificial intelligence are integrated to the best of the health systems across the world but these advancements are not accessible to a considerable part of the global population. While affordability, the absence of a steady internet supply, and the lack of a device to use the technology are the major impediments causing this digital divide, cultural factors and health literacy also contribute to this scenario. Nevertheless, access to the internet has been recognized as a basic need by all governments around the globe. The COVID-19 pandemic shook the health systems of developed and developing countries alike and has made every administration feel the urgency in making healthcare more accessible. Having seamless internet coverage and setups to make telemedicine or online consultations possible, can contribute significantly in paving the path to making our societies prosperous and healthier. With the world's consensus about this goal, efforts now should be focused on research and development for making these technologies more affordable and accessible without compromising their utility.

Various studies have been done on subjects such as parenting, parent-child relationships, parenting style, effortful parenting, the concept of parenting, the cognitive development of children, and the cognition of parents. This research is mainly based on parenting practice, child development, and maturation. Children's cognitive development starts in the first year of life and then progresses gradually. Children require positive parenting in painful and different situations. Parenting gives a child the confidence to face crucial, challenging problems. Sensitive parenting and caregiving are required for the child's maturity and cognitive development. Media has been observed to be essential in improving parenting practices. Children exhibit internalizing and externalizing symptoms as a result of harsh, aggressive, and intrusive parenting. According to the data, it is seen that the risk of depression increases in adolescence. The main reason for the rise in depression in children is the non-cooperation and support of mothers and fathers. The risk of depression decreases in children whose mothers and fathers are cooperative and supportive. While family and social stress increase the chances of depression in children, a negative parenting style means children face family and social anxiety. Due to the high level of hostile parenting and low level of positive parenting, they experience stress, peer pressure, and social and family relationship problems. Another excellent term for effortful control parenting is required for children's cognitive development. Parenting is necessary for the regulation of emotions and behavior. There are many problems seen in infancy, early childhood, and late childhood. There are four types of parenting styles seen: authoritative parenting, authoritarian parenting/controlling parenting, permissive parenting/indulgent parenting, and uninvolved parenting/neglecting to parent. Good parenting requires one to know the concept of good parenting, the idea of parenting, the importance of parenting and children's needs, the components of parenting, and the consequences of parenting.

ABSTRACT

The present study is focused on seasonal variation in groundwater quality, hydrochemistry, and associated human health risk in the Shivganga river basin, Western Maharashtra, India, to promote sustainable development of groundwater resources of this semi-arid region. The qualitative geochemical analysis, contamination levels, and human health risk assessment (HHRA) of groundwater are integral steps in groundwater management in the Deccan Plateau basalt flow region of India. Representative groundwater samples (n = 68) collected from the Shivganga River basin area of Pune district, Maharashtra, during pre-monsoon (PRM) and post-monsoon (POM) seasons in 2015 were analyzed for major cations and anions. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2017) drinking standards, EC, total dissolved solids, hardness, bicarbonate, calcium, and magnesium surpassed the desirable limit. Boron and fluoride content exceeded the prescribed desirable limit of the WHO. The pollution and drinking suitability were assessed by computing pollution index of groundwater (PIG), groundwater quality index (GWQI), and HHRA particularly for boron and fluoride toxicity. PIG values inferred that about 6% of groundwater samples has moderate, 24% has low, and 70% has insignificant pollution in the PRM season, while only 1 sample (3%) showed high pollution, 6% showed low, and 91% showed insignificant pollution in the POM season. GWQI classification demonstrated that 27% and 15% samples are within the poor category, and only 15% and 18% of the samples fall into excellent water category in the PRM and the POM seasons, respectively. Total hazard index (THI) revealed that 88% of children, 59% of adults, and about 38% of infants are exposed to non-carcinogenic risk, as THI values (>1) were noted for the PRM season, while 62% of children, 47% of adults, and 24% of infants are vulnerable to non-carcinogenic health hazard during the POM period.

ABSTRACT

Sustainable management of groundwater resources requires detailed basin-wide water assessments. Semi-urbanized areas surrounding metropolitan cities in the western part of India were assessed for their suitability for domestic, irrigation, and industrial purposes. These study areas reflect rapid urban growth with residential complexes, combined with agricultural, horticultural, and industrial uses. Therefore, 68 representative groundwater samples were collected during the pre-monsoon (PRM) and post-monsoon (POM) seasons of 2015 and analyzed for major ions. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) drinking standards, parameters like EC, TDS, TH, HCO3, Ca, and Mg were found to exceed the desirable maximum limits, and the B and F content exceeded the permissible limits. The drinking suitability was studied using the modified water quality index (MWQI). The irrigation suitability was assessed using indices such as sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), percent sodium (%Na), and permeability index (PI). The industrial suitability was evaluated based on Langelier saturation index (LSI), saturation index (SI), Ryznar stability index (RSI), etc. MWQI results corroborate that 52.94 and 70% samples fall in no pollution category, and 47% and 30% samples were identified to be in the moderate category of pollution in the PRM season and POM season, respectively. The spatial variation maps of LSI, SI, RSI, Puckorius scaling index (PSI) and Larson-Skold index (LaI) show that the majority of the samples in the PRM season have low to insignificant scaling and corrosive potentials as compared to POM samples. The study results provide reliable information for water reserve managers to prepare the sustainable and more accurate basin management plans.
