ABSTRACT

Disulfidptosis is a recently discovered mode of cell death with a significant role in cancer. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been implicated in numerous biological processes including oncogenesis, invasion, and metastasis. In this work, we developed an lncRNA signature associated with disulfidptosis for prediction of survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Detailed HCC expression profiles and clinical information were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas, and 599 differentially expressed disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs were identified through Pearson correlation analysis. Finally, by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method, we constructed an HCC prognostic model containing 7 disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs. We split patients into high- and low-risk groups based on the risk values generated by this model and showed that patients in the high-risk group had shorter overall survival times. In the training dataset, receiver operating characteristic curves for 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival were drawn according to the standard (0.788, 0.801, 0.803) and internal validation set (0.684, 0.595, 0.704) to assess the efficacy of the signature. Risk value was confirmed as an independent predictor and used to construct a nomogram in combination with several clinical factors. We further assessed the signature with respect to tumor immune landscape, gene set enrichment analysis, principal component analysis, tumor mutation burden, tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion, and drug sensitivity. High-risk patients had higher immune function scores, except for type II IFN response, whereas low-risk patients had significantly lower tumor immune dysfunction and rejection scores, indicating that they were more sensitive to immune checkpoint inhibitors. Drug sensitivity analysis showed that low-risk patients could benefit more from certain anti-tumor drugs, including sulafenib. In summary, we have constructed a novel signature that shows good performance in predicting survival of patients with HCC and may provide new insights for targeted tumor therapy.

ABSTRACT

Antioxidants are healthy substances that are beneficial to the human body and exist mainly in natural and synthetic forms. Among many kinds of antioxidants, the natural antioxidants have great applications in many fields such as food chemistry, medical care, and clinical application. In recent years, many efforts have been made for the determination of natural antioxidants. Nano-electrochemical sensors combining electrochemistry and nanotechnology have been widely used in the determination of natural antioxidants due to their unique advantages. Therefore, a large number of nanomaterials such as metal oxide, carbon materials, and conducting polymer have attracted much attention in the field of electrochemical sensors due to their good catalytic effect and stable performance. This review mainly introduces the construction of electrochemical sensors based on different nanomaterials, such as metallic nanomaterials, metal oxide nanomaterials, carbon nanomaterials, metal-organic frameworks, polymer nanomaterials, and other nanocomposites, and their application to the detection of natural antioxidants, including ascorbic acid, phenolic acids, flavonoid, tryptophan, citric acid, and other natural antioxidants. In the end, the limitations of the existing nano-sensing technology, the latest development trend, and the application prospect for various natural antioxidant substances are summarized and analyzed. We expect that this review will be helpful to researchers engaged in electrochemical sensors.

ABSTRACT

Previously nine species of the genus Chelifera were known to occur in China. Here the following five new species of Chelifera are described from Sichuan; C. acutata sp. nov., C. brevis sp. nov., C. obtusa sp. nov., C. sichuanensis sp. nov., and C. wangi sp. nov. A key to the species of Chelifera from China is provided, and male terminalia and habitus images are included for each new species.

ABSTRACT

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are dysregulated in various malignancies and involved in the growth and aggressive phenotypes of cancer cells. Previous studies indicate that lncRNA testis development related 1 (TDRG1) plays critical roles in the development of several malignancies. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanism underlying TDRG1 contributes to non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains elusive. Here, we demonstrate that TDRG1 is significantly overregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of TDRG1 inhibits the proliferation and metastatic-related traits of NSCLC cell in vitro whereas overexpression of TDRG1 causes opposite results. In addition, TDRG1 silencing inhibits the growth and metastatic ability of NSCLC cell in vivo as demonstrated by xenograft tumor model and lung metastasis model. The binding capacity of TDRG1 with miR-873-5p is demonstrated by bioinformatics prediction tool and luciferase reporter gene assay. Additional, the rescue experiments indicate that TDRG1 interacts with miR-873-5p and its expression is positively associated with the target of miR-873-5p, zinc finger e-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1). Altogether, lncRNA TDRG1 facilitates the progression of NSCLC via interacting with miR-873-5p and positively regulates the expression of ZEB1.

ABSTRACT

The mitogenome of Paralimna (Paralimna) concors was sequenced. The mitogenome was 16,155 bp totally, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two rRNAs, and 22 transfer RNAs. The nucleotide composition biases toward A and T is 78.6% of the entirety. All PCGs start with ATN codons except COI and ND1, and end with TAA or incomplete stop codon. Phylogenetic analyses based on 11 dipteran species supported the monophyly of Ephydroidea and the relationship of Opomyzoidea + (Ephydroidea + (Lauxanioidea + (Sphaeroceroidea + (Sciomyzoidea + Tephritoidea)))).
