ABSTRACT

The mechanism of cooperative innovation (CI) for high-tech firms aims to improve their technological innovation performance. It is the effective integration of the internal and external innovation resources of these firms, along with the simultaneous reduction in the uncertainty of technological innovation and the maintenance of the comparative advantage of the firms in the competition. This study used 322 high-tech firms as our sample, which were located in 33 national innovation demonstration bases identified by the Chinese government. We implemented a multiple linear regression to test the impact of CI conducted by these high-tech firms at the level of their technological innovation performance. In addition, the study further examined the moderating effect of two boundary conditions-big data capabilities and policy support (PS)-on the main hypotheses. Our study found that high-tech firms carrying out CI can effectively improve their technological innovation performance, with big data capabilities and PS significantly enhancing the degree of this influence. The study reveals the intrinsic mechanism of the impact of CI on the technological innovation performance of high-tech firms, which, to a certain extent, expands the application context of CI and enriches the research perspective on the impact of CI on the innovation performance of firms. At the same time, the findings provide insight for how high-tech firms in the digital era can make reasonable use of data empowerment in the process of CI to achieve improved technological innovation performance.

ABSTRACT

Technology transfer is an essential source of technological innovation for enterprises, which is conducive to the market transformation of patent achievements and the commercial application of new technologies. Building upon social capital theory, all data analyses were performed using SPSS 22.0 and Amos software with the multiple linear regression method. The study explores the mechanism of policy perception to obtain the technical resources needed for enterprise development through boundary-spanning behavior, with a moderating effect of inter-organizational trust and technological potential gap. The study uses survey data from 125 enterprise teams of 42 technology-based enterprises in China. The results show that policy perceived usefulness and usability significantly promote technology transfer performance and boundary-spanning behavior plays a mediating role between them. Speaking of the influencing factors of technology transfer, technological potential gap significantly moderates the relationship between boundary-spanning and technology transfer performance. In contrast, inter-organizational trust positively moderates the relationship between boundary-spanning and technology transfer performance. The research provides theoretical reference and guidance for enterprises on using policy perception better to improve technology transfer performance in the institutional environment. It also helps inspire enterprises to better deal with the cooperative relationship between relevant stakeholders and achieve win-win cooperation.

ABSTRACT

We developed a "thinking-behavior-outcome" logical framework to explore the effect of entrepreneurs' cognitive flexibility on dual innovation and the performance of new ventures, drawing on social cognitive theory, and collected data from a sample of 293 new ventures through a questionnaire to conduct an empirical analysis. We find that entrepreneurs' cognitive flexibility may indirectly affect the performance of new ventures by influencing their dual innovation activities; resource management capabilities positively moderate the relationship between entrepreneurs' cognitive flexibility and dual innovation. In addition, our study demonstrates that dual innovation equilibrium has a stronger effect on the performance of new ventures than single-dimensional innovation activities. Our study highlights the importance of entrepreneurial cognitive flexibility for new ventures to implement innovation strategies and improve performance. The findings not only help to clarify the relationship between entrepreneurs' cognitive flexibility and new venture performance and to enrich social cognitive theory, but they also provide new perspectives on responses to enhance dual innovation capabilities of new ventures under the influence of COVID-19. ABSTRACT

With the proliferation of live streaming, there is evidence that online impulse buying is becoming an emerging phenomenon. Although many studies have investigated impulse buying in the context of offline shopping and business-to-consumer e-commerce, online impulse buying in live streaming has attracted little attention. In this study, we aim to explore the effect of social presence in live streaming on customer impulse buying based on the stimulus-organism-response framework. The research model presented here identifies pleasure and arousal as the mediation of impulse buying in live streaming. We use the AMOST and IBM SPSS PROCESS software to estimate our model based on data at the minute level from 189 customers, who watched live streaming in the past three months. The results suggest that the social presence of the broadcaster and the social presence of the live streamer positively affect impulse buying directly and indirectly via pleasure and arousal, promoting consumer online impulse buying in live streaming, but the social presence of the viewers has no significant effect on pleasure and arousal. For practice, our results can help policymakers and operators of the live streaming platform alleviate impulse buying in the digital world.

ABSTRACT

Is relational crafting always beneficial? Despite the increasing research on the positive outcomes of relational crafting, some evidence still indicates its dysfunctional consequences. The current study proposed a double-edged sword effect of relational crafting on job well-being, including work dynamics and emotional exhaustion, with an integrative perspective from the resource loss and resource acquisition perspectives based on the job demands-resources model and the conservation of resources theory. By conducting a two-stage questionnaire survey on 323 employees, the results demonstrate that: (1) On the one hand, relational crafting induces emotional exhaustion through increased work load; (2) On the other hand, relational crafting also displays positive effect on increasing work dynamics and decreasing emotional exhaustion by fostering supervisor-subordinate guanxi. By analyzing the double-edged sword effect of subordinates' relational crafting on job well-being from the two processes of resource loss and resource acquisition effects, a more complete influencing mechanism between relational crafting and job well-being is constructed, which improves the understanding of relational crafting, enriches the literature on proactive behavior and provides a more integrated theoretical basis for researchers and managers.

ABSTRACT

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitality institutions are striving for legitimacy, which leads them to organizational hypocrisy, generating perceptions of inducement breach, future anxiety, and ultimately reduced Job Embeddedness. This study has identified industry and environmental situation-specific constructs in a mutual relationship to fill a theoretical gap. An electronic survey of 2100 frontline employees was administered among which 842 completed surveys were retained for analysis. The validity of the measures and the absence of common method bias were established. SPSS PROCESS was used to compute the serial mediation effects. Contrary to existing knowledge, the results of this study indicate that organizational hypocrisy increases employee job embeddedness. Three reasons identified for this result are Asian culture sample, prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic, and the necessity of hypocrisy emphasized by scholars. The study also presents an underlying mechanism that makes this relationship negative through perceived inducement breach and future anxiety. This study focuses on HOW and IF organizational hypocrisy has detrimental effects, thus adding empirical evidence to otherwise exploratory literature. For hospitality industry, employees are an irreplaceable resource that provides competitive advantages; they need to align their values with that of their employees by word and actions or risk losing them.

ABSTRACT

In addition to what we know as benevolent creativity, which involves originality and usefulness, creativity also includes malevolent creativity, which involves the application of creative ideas to intentionally harm others. This study aimed to explore the environmental and individual predictors of malevolent creativity. We investigated the relationship among childhood neglect, Dark Triad personality traits and malevolent creativity and examined the mediating role of Dark Triad personality. A large sample (N = 991) of Chinese undergraduate students completed the childhood neglect scale, the 12-item Dirty Dozen and the Malevolent Creativity Behavior Scale. Structural equation modeling demonstrated that childhood neglect was positively related to individual malevolent creativity, and the Dark Triad partially mediated this relationship. Additionally, gender differences were found, such that childhood neglect had a stronger effect on malevolent creativity through the Dark Triad among males than females. The results were discussed from the perspectives of life history theory and social information processing theory.

ABSTRACT

LINGO-1 is a transmembrane receptor expressed primarily in the central nervous system (CNS) and plays an important role in myelination. Recent studies have indicated that it is also involved in oligodendrocyte precursor cell (OPC) survival and differentiation; however, the downstream signaling pathway underlying OPC development is unknown. In our previous study, we found that LINGO-1 is associated with WNK1 in mediating Nogo-induced neurite extension inhibition by RhoA activation. In an effort to identify the role of LINGO-1-WNK1 in OPCs, we first confirmed that WNK1 is also expressed in OPCs and co-localized with LINGO-1, which suppresses WNK1 expression by RNA interference-attenuated Nogo66-induced inhibition of OPC differentiation. Furthermore, we mapped the WNK1 kinase domain using several fragmented peptides to identify the key region of interaction with LINGO-1. We found that a sequence corresponding to the D6 peptide is necessary for the interaction. Finally, we found that using the TAT-D6 peptide to introduce D6 peptide into primary cultured OPC inhibits the association between LINGO-1 and WNK1 and significantly attenuates Nogo66-induced inhibition of OPC differentiation. Taken together, our results show that WNK1, via a specific region on WNK1 kinase domain, interacts with LINGO-1, thus mediating Nogo66-inhibited OPC differentiation.
