ABSTRACT

Bolts have the advantages of simple installation and easy removal. They are widely applied in aerospace and high-speed railway traffic. However, the loosening of bolts under mixed loads can lead to nonlinear decreases in pre-loading. This affects the safety performance of the structure and may lead to catastrophic consequences. Existing techniques cannot be used to monitor the bolt performance status in time. This has caused significant problems with the safety and reliability of equipment. In order to study the relaxation law of bolt pre-loading, this paper carries out an experimental analysis for 8.8-grade hexagonal bolts and calibrates the torque coefficient. We also studied different loading waveforms, nickel steel plate surface roughnesses, tangential displacement frequencies, four different strengths and bolt head contact areas of the bolt, the initial pre-loading, and the effects of tangential cyclic displacement on pre-loading relaxation. This was done in order to accurately predict the degree of bolt pre-loading loosening under external loads. The laws are described using the allometric model function and the nine-stage polynomial function. The least squares method is used to identify the parameters in the function. The results show that bolts with a smooth surface of the connected structure nickel steel flat plate, high-frequency working conditions, half-sine wave, and a high-strength have better anti-loosening properties. Taking 5-10 cycles of cyclic loading as a boundary, the pre-loading relaxation is divided into two stages. The first stage is a stage of rapid decrease in bolt pre-loading, and the second stage is the slow decrease process. The performance prediction study shows that the allometric model function is the worst fitted, at 71.7% for the small displacement condition. Other than that, the allometric model function and the nine-stage polynomial function can predict more than 85.5% and 90.4%, which require the use of least squares to identify two and ten unknown parameters, respectively. The complexity of the two is different, but both can by better indicators than the pre-loading relaxation law under specific conditions. It helps to improve the monitoring of bolt loosening and the system use cycle, and it can provide theoretical support for complex equipment working for a long time.

ABSTRACT

The Iwan model is composed of elastoplastic elements and is widely used to represent the stiffness degradation of bolted joints under mixed-mode loading (normal and tangential loading). The latest static methods of parameter identification established the relationship between the elastoplastic elements and the contact pressure under normal loading. Under mixed-mode loading, the parameters of the Iwan model are dynamic for the evolution of contact conditions. Therefore, static parameter identification methods are not suitable for the dynamic Iwan model. A new technique was proposed to identify the parameters of the elastoplastic elements in this paper. Firstly, several different finite element models were established. The influence of the contact method and the thread structure were analyzed, and a reliable and efficient bolted-joint modeling method was proposed. Secondly, the evolution of contact conditions was studied. The dynamic elliptical contact model and the ellipticity discrete method were proposed. Finally, the residual stiffness of the Iwan model was analyzed to establish the mapping between the residual stiffness and the bending of the screw. The results can provide a technique for identifying the parameters of the dynamic Iwan model.

ABSTRACT

Objective: After discussing the factors damaging hydrogen peroxide low-temperature plasma sterile packaging bags (hereinafter referred to as Tyvek packaging bags), the damage rate of Tyvek packaging bags is lowered through the control of link quality, so as to guarantee the quality of sterile packaging bags and the safety of patients. Methods: Design questionnaire and registration form by investigating 8606 instrument packaging bags sterilized by hydrogen peroxide low-temperature plasma from January 2019 to December 2019, the controllable factors damaging Tyvek packaging bags are analyzed from four aspects: instrument packaging, sterilization, transfer, and storage. By taking targeted interventions on 8155 instrument packaging bags sterilized from January 2020 to December 2020, the intervention effects of the key links and the damage rate are evaluated. Results: The main factors damaging Tyvek packaging bags mainly include improper transfer, storage, and management of instrument packing bags; improper use of instrument boxes; improper loading and uploading operations of sterilization; and the wrong size of packaging bags. For these factors, related intervention measures shall be adopted to control the link quality so as to lower the damage rate from 3.54% in the control group to 0.20% in the experimental group. The differences in damage rate are of statistical significance (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Tyvek packaging bags are influenced by controllable factors. Through reasonable link control and standard operations, the sterile packaging bags can be kept sterile from the end of sterilization to the usage by patients, which guarantees the safety of patients and is worthy of reference.

ABSTRACT

Recently, there have been many advances in autonomous driving society, attracting a lot of attention from academia and industry. However, existing studies mainly focus on cars, extra development is still required for self-driving truck algorithms and models. In this article, we introduce an intelligent self-driving truck system. Our presented system consists of three main components, 1) a realistic traffic simulation module for generating realistic traffic flow in testing scenarios, 2) a high-fidelity truck model which is designed and evaluated for mimicking real truck response in real world deployment, and 3) an intelligent planning module with learning-based decision making algorithm and multi-mode trajectory planner, taking into account the truck's constraints, road slope changes, and the surrounding traffic flow. We provide quantitative evaluations for each component individually to demonstrate the fidelity and performance of each part. We also deploy our proposed system on a real truck and conduct real world experiments which show our system's capacity of mitigating sim-to-real gap. ABSTRACT

In inorganic-organic perovskites, the three-dimensional arrangement of the organic group results in more subtle balance of charge, spin and space, thereby providing an attractive route toward new multiferroics. Here we report the existing of multiple ferroic orderings in inorganic-organic layered perovskites with relative strong hydrogen bond ordering of the organic chains intra plane. In addition, the inter plane in perovskite is stacking via van der Waals force. However, such magnetoelectric coupling properties for this compound have not been reported since it is difficult to characterize the properties in single crystals since most of the hybrid perovskites are usually deliquescent and unstable when exposed to air. To deal with these problems, we synthesized a (CH3NH3)2CuCl4 single crystal by using a simple evaporation technique, and demonstrated ferroelectric, magnetic and magneto-electric properties of (CH3NH3)2CuCl4. The internal hydrogen bonding of easily tunable organic unit combined with 3d transition-metal layers in such hybrid perovskites make (CH3NH3)2CuCl4 a multiferroic crystal with magnetoelectrical coupling and offer an new way to engineer multifunctional multiferroic.
