ABSTRACT

Benefitting from the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and structural biology, an expanding collection of high-resolution protein structures has greatly improved our understanding of protein functions. Yet, proteins are inherently flexible, and these static structures can only offer limited snapshots of their true dynamic nature. The conformational and functional changes of calmodulin (CaM) induced by Ca2+ binding have always been a focus of research. In this study, the conformational dynamics of CaM and its complexes were investigated using a mobility capillary electrophoresis (MCE) and native mass spectrometry (native MS) based method. By analyzing the ellipsoidal geometries of CaM in the solution phase at different Ca2+ concentrations, it is interesting to discover that CaM molecules, whether bound to Ca2+ or not, possess both closed and open conformations. Moreover, each individual CaM molecule actively "jumps" (equilibrium exchange) between these two distinct conformations on a timescale ranging from milli- to micro-seconds. The binding of Ca2+ ions did not affect the structural dynamics of CaM, while the binding of a peptide ligand would stabilize CaM, leading to the observation of a single, compact conformation of the resulting protein complex. A target recognition mechanism was also proposed based on these new findings, suggesting that CaM's interaction with targets may favor a conformational selection model. This enriches our understanding of the binding principles between CaM and its numerous targets.

ABSTRACT

Hemibagrus guttatus, also named as spotted longbarbel catfish, is an economical fish in China. However, their gender cannot be easily distinguished from their appearance, which largely impedes their artificial breeding. Therefore, we provided two gap-free chromosome-level genomes of male and female spotted longbarbel catfish by combining wtdbg2, LR_Gapcloser and TGS-GapCloser assembly approaches with Hi-C data and accurate Pacbio HiFi long-reads. We assembled 30 chromosomes without any gap. Their genome sizes are approximately 749.1 Mb and 747.8 Mb of male and female individuals. The completeness results of BUSCO evaluation show about 94.2% and 95.0%, representing a high-level of completeness of both genomes. We also obtained 35,277 and 34,571 protein-coding gene sets from male and female individuals. Both available gap-free chromosome-level genomes of H. guttatus will provide excellent references for resequencing of male and female individuals to identify accurate markers for distinguishing gender of this fish.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Investigating the unexplored territory of lncRNA m6A modification in colorectal cancer (CRC) vasculature, this study focuses on LINC01106 and YTHDF1. METHODS: Clinical assessments reveal upregulated LINC01106 promoting vascular generation via the miR-449b-5p-VEGFA pathway. RESULTS: YTHDF1, elevated in CRC tissues, emerges as an adverse prognostic factor. Functional experiments showcase YTHDF1's inhibitory effects on CRC cell dynamics. Mechanistically, Me-CLIP identifies m6A-modified LINC01106, validated as a YTHDF1 target through Me-RIP. CONCLUSIONS: This study sheds light on the YTHDF1-mediated m6A modification of LINC01106, presenting it as a key player in suppressing CRC vascular generation.

ABSTRACT

Tissue stiffening is a predominant feature of fibrotic disorders, but the response of macrophages to changes in tissue stiffness and cellular context in fibrotic diseases remains unclear. Here, we found that the mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 was up-regulated in hepatic fibrosis. Macrophages lacking Piezo1 showed sustained inflammation and impaired spontaneous resolution of early liver fibrosis. Further analysis revealed an impairment of clearance of apoptotic cells by macrophages in the fibrotic liver. Macrophages showed enhanced efferocytosis when cultured on rigid substrates but not soft ones, suggesting stiffness-dependent efferocytosis of macrophages required Piezo1 activation. Besides, Piezo1 was involved in the efficient acidification of the engulfed cargo in the phagolysosomes and affected the subsequent expression of anti-inflammation genes after efferocytosis. Pharmacological activation of Piezo1 increased the efferocytosis capacity of macrophages and accelerated the resolution of inflammation and fibrosis. Our study supports the antifibrotic role of Piezo1-mediated mechanical sensation in liver fibrosis, suggesting that targeting PIEZO1 to enhance macrophage efferocytosis could induce fibrosis regression.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: It remains unclear whether depressive symptoms are associated with increased all-cause mortality and to what extent depressive symptoms are associated with chronic disease and all-cause mortality. The study aims to explore the relationship between depressive symptoms and all-cause mortality, and how depressive symptoms may, in turn, affect all-cause mortality among Chinese middle-aged and older people through chronic diseases. Methods: Data were collected from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). This cohort study involved 13,855 individuals from Wave 1 (2011) to Wave 6 (2020) of the CHARLS, which is a nationally representative survey that collects information from Chinese residents ages 45 and older to explore intrinsic mechanisms between depressive symptoms and all-cause mortality. The Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D-10) was validated through the CHARLS. Covariates included socioeconomic variables, living habits, and self-reported history of chronic diseases. Kaplan-Meier curves depicted mortality rates by depressive symptom levels, with Cox proportional hazards regression models estimating the hazard ratios (HRs) of all-cause mortality. Results: Out of the total 13,855 participants included, the median (Q1, Q3) age was 58.00 (51.00, 63.00) years. Adjusted for all covariates, middle-aged and older adults with depressive symptoms had a higher all-cause mortality rate (HR = 1.20 [95% CI, 1.09-1.33]). An increased rate was observed for 55-64 years old (HR = 1.23 [95% CI, 1.03-1.47]) and more than 65 years old (HR = 1.32 [95% CI, 1.18-1.49]), agricultural Hukou (HR = 1.44, [95% CI, 1.30-1.59]), and nonagricultural workload (HR = 1.81 [95% CI, 1.61-2.03]). Depressive symptoms increased the risks of all-cause mortality among patients with hypertension (HR = 1.19 [95% CI, 1.00-1.40]), diabetes (HR = 1.41[95% CI, 1.02-1.95]), and arthritis (HR = 1.29 [95% CI, 1.09-1.51]). Conclusion: Depressive symptoms raise all-cause mortality risk, particularly in those aged 55 and above, rural household registration (agricultural Hukou), nonagricultural workers, and middle-aged and older people with hypertension, diabetes, and arthritis. Our findings through the longitudinal data collected in this study offer valuable insights for interventions targeting depression, such as early detection, integrated chronic disease care management, and healthy lifestyles; and community support for depressive symptoms may help to reduce mortality in middle-aged and older people.

ABSTRACT

MAIN CONCLUSION: The resurrection plant Boea hygrometrica selectively recruits and assembles drought-specific microbial communities across the plant-soil compartments, which may benefit plant growth and fitness under extreme drought conditions. Plant-associated microbes are essential for facilitating plant growth and fitness under drought stress. The resurrection plant Boea hygrometrica in natural habitats with seasonal rainfall can survive rapid desiccation, yet their interaction with microbiomes under drought conditions remains unexplored. This study examined the bacterial and fungal microbiome structure and drought response across plant-soil compartments of B. hygrometrica by high-throughput amplicon sequencing of 16S rRNA gene and internal transcribed spacer. Our results demonstrated that the diversity, composition, and functional profile of the microbial community varied considerably across the plant-soil compartments and were strongly affected by drought stress. Bacterial and fungal diversity was significantly reduced from soil to endosphere and belowground to aboveground compartments. The compartment-specific enrichment of the dominant bacteria phylum Cyanobacteriota and genus Methylorubrum in leaf endosphere, genera Pseudonocardia in rhizosphere soil and Actinoplanes in root endosphere, and fungal phylum Ascomycota in the aboveground compartments and genera Knufia in root endosphere and Cladosporium in leaf endosphere composed part of the core microbiota with corresponding enrichment of beneficial functions for plant growth and fitness. Moreover, the recruitment of dominant microbial genera Sphingosinicella and Plectosphaerella, Ceratobasidiaceae mycorrhizal fungi, and numerous plant growth-promoting bacteria involving nutrient supply and auxin regulation was observed in desiccated B. hygrometrica plants. Our results suggest that the stable assembled drought-specific microbial community of B. hygrometrica may contribute to plant survival under extreme environments and provide valuable microbial resources for the microbe-mediated drought tolerance enhancement in crops.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Ovarian cancer is a fatal gynecologic malignancy with a high rate of abdominal metastasis. Chemotherapy still has a poor clinical prognosis for ovarian cancer patients, with cell proliferation and angiogenesis leading to invasion, migration, and recurrence. To overcome these obstacles, we constructed a novel HA-modified paclitaxel and diosgenin liposome (PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs) using two novel functional materials, DSPE-PEG2000-HA and DSPE-PEG2000-TK-PEG5000, to specifically deliver the drugs to the tumor site in order to reduce OC cell proliferation and anti-angiogenic generation, thereby inhibiting invasion and migration. Methods and Results: PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs were prepared by film dispersion, with ideal physicochemical properties and exhibits active targeting for enhanced cellular uptake. The ZIP synergy score for PTX and Dios was calculated using the online SynergyFinder software to be 3.15, indicating synergy. In vitro results showed that PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs were highly cytotoxic to ID8 cells, induced ID8 cell apoptosis, and inhibited ID8 cell migration and invasion. In vivo studies showed that PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs could prolong the circulation time in the blood, accumulate significantly in the tumor site, and effectively fight against angiogenesis with significant anti-tumor effects. Conclusion: The production of PEG-TK-HA-PDLPs is an effective strategy for the treatment of OC.

Introduction: The risk of falls among the elderly significantly increases, which has become a serious public health concern. Falls can not only lead to serious complications such as fractures and brain injuries but also limit their mobility function, reducing quality of life. Foot intrinsic muscles (FIMs) are an essential part of foot core stability even overall postural stability. This study aimed to investigate the effects of aging on the function of FIMs and to explore the influence of FIMs on postural control in the elderly. Materials and Methods: 56 healthy old participants (60-75 years) and 57 healthy young participants (18-29 years) joined this study. An ergoFet dynamometer was used to determine foot muscle strength (Doming, T1, T23 and T2345), and ankle muscle strength (plantarflexion and dorsiflexion). The morphology of FIMs and extrinsic foot muscle was determined using a Doppler ultrasound system, whereas the postural stability was assessed through Limits of Stability test. Independent samples t-test was used to determine the differences in strength and morphological parameters and Spearman correlation analysis was used to determine whether an association existed between muscle strength and postural stability parameters in the elderly. Results: Compared with young adults, foot muscle strength and ankle muscle strength (Doming, T1, T23, T2345, dorsiflexion, and plantarflexion, all p <0.05) and the morphology of foot muscles (all p <0.05) were significantly reduced in the elderly. The strength of FIMs and the limit of stability (r = 0.302-0.424, all p <0.05) were significantly correlated in the elderly. Conclusion: Compared with young adults, the weakness of strength as well as the morphological decline of the intrinsic and extrinsic foot muscles were found in the elderly. In addition, a correlation was observed between FIM's strength and postural stability in the elderly, suggesting their potential role in posture stability.

Key Clinical Message: Filler injections into the upper eyelid may cause levator aponeurosis fibrosis and ptosis. This risk must be considered. When ptosis appears, treatment might be difficult. Understanding the upper eyelid anatomy and procedures is essential to prevent eyelid damage. Abstract: Ptosis is a prevalent condition in cosmetic surgery that occurs due to malfunction of the levator palpebrae superioris or insufficient Müller muscle action. It is characterized by the upper eyelid edge appearing lower than usual when seen at eye level. Ptosis may be categorized into congenital and acquired forms. The primary cause of congenital ptosis is attributed to abnormalities of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle or the motor nerve innervation that controls it. The condition arises from atypical development and malfunction of the oculomotor system. Acquired ptosis may be classified into many categories including traumatic, neurogenic, myogenic, senile, mechanical, and fake ptosis. Currently, there is little documentation of ptosis resulting from the degeneration of the aponeurosis of the muscle in the upper eyelid. We received a case of ptosis caused by fibrosis of the levator palpebrae superioris aponeurotic membrane. We used the technique of levator palpebrae superioris great advancement. The levator palpebrae superioris-Müller muscle was folded to create a stable composite construction via the levator palpebrae superioris high progress.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: The pericoronary fat attenuation index (FAI) values around plaques may reveal the relationship between periplaque vascular inflammation and different plaque component volume fractions. We aimed to evaluate the potential associations between periplaque FAI values and plaque component volume fractions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 496 patients (1078 lesions) with coronary artery disease, who underwent computed tomography angiography (CCTA) between September 2022 and August 2023, were analyzed retrospectively. Each lesion was characterized and the plaque component volume fractions and periplaque FAI values were measured. Multiple linear regression, weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression, and quantile g-computation (Qgcomp) were used to explore the relationship between plaque component volume fractions and the risk of elevated periplaque FAI values. RESULTS: After adjusting for clinical characteristics, multiple linear regression identified that lipid components volume fraction (ß = 0.162, P < 0.001) were independent risk factors for elevated periplaque FAI values whereas calcified components volume fraction (ß = -0.066, P = 0.025) were independent protective factors. The WQS regression models indicated an increase in the overall confounding effect of the adjusted lipid indices and plaque composition volume fraction on the risk of elevated periplaque FAI values (P = 0.004). Qgcomp analysis indicated lipid component volume fraction and calcified component volume fraction was positively and negatively correlated with elevated plaque FAI values, respectively (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Periplaque FAI values quantified by CCTA were strongly correlated with lipid and calcification component volume fractions.

What is already known about this topic?: Pertussis has reemerged as a significant public health threat, primarily due to variations in Bordetella pertussis strains, antimicrobial resistance, and vaccine evasion. What is added by this report?: All isolated strains were identified as ptxA1/ptxC2/ptxP3/prn150/fim2-1/fim3-1/fhaB1/tcfA2 type and exhibited resistance to erythromycin. Two strains showed a deficiency in Fha, thirty in Prn, and one strain exhibited multiple immunogen deficiencies. What are the implications for public health practice?: The emergence and spread of immunogen-deficient strains likely result from prolonged vaccine selection pressure, posing challenges to the efficacy of pertussis vaccines. Additionally, the ongoing dissemination of ptxP3 strains with high-level macrolide resistance presents a significant obstacle to clinical treatment strategies.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between medial meniscal extrusion and structural progression in adults with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS: This prospective cohort study examined 176 participants with symptomatic knee OA recruited into a randomised controlled trial. The participants underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the study knee at baseline and approximately 2 years later. Meniscal extrusion, tibial cartilage volume, and tibiofemoral bone marrow lesions (BMLs) were measured from MRI using validated methods. RESULTS: Participants with medial meniscal extrusion ≥ 3 mm had a higher prevalence of lateral tibiofemoral BMLs at baseline (OR = 2.21, 95% CI 1.06-4.61, p = 0.035), and those with medial meniscal extrusion 2-3 mm had a higher likelihood of lateral BML worsening over 2 years (OR = 3.76, 95% CI 1.35-10.52, p = 0.011), compared with those with medial meniscal extrusion < 2 mm. Participants with stable medial meniscal extrusion had a lower likelihood of lateral BML worsening compared with those with regression of medial meniscal extrusion over 2 years (OR = 0.20, 95% CI 0.07-0.56, p = 0.002). There were no associations between medial meniscal extrusion and tibial cartilage volume or medial tibiofemoral BMLs. CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed associations between medial meniscal extrusion and baseline prevalence and worsening over 2 years of lateral tibiofemoral BMLs in people with symptomatic knee OA. Although the reasons for the lack of associations in the medial compartment are not clear, our results suggest a role of medial meniscal extrusion in predicting structural progression in lateral knee OA and that meniscal extrusion might be a potential target in the management of knee OA.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the correlation between MRI findings and histological features for preoperative prediction of histological grading and Ki-67 expression level in alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 63 ASPS patients (Jan 2017-May 2023). All patients underwent 3.0-T MRI examinations, including conventional sequences, dynamic contrast-enhanced scans with time-intensity curve analysis, and diffusion-weighted imaging with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurements. Patients were divided into low-grade (histological Grade I) and high-grade (histological Grade II/III) groups based on pathology. Immunohistochemistry was used to assess Ki-67 expression levels in ASPS. Statistical analysis included chi-square tests, Wilcoxon rank-sum test, binary logistic regression analysis, Spearman correlation analysis, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of various observational data. RESULTS: There were 29 low-grade and 34 high-grade patients (26 males and 37 females) and a wide age range (5-68 years). Distant metastasis, tumor enhancement characteristics, and ADC values were independent predictors of high-grade ASPS. High-grade ASPS had lower ADC values (p = 0.002), with an area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity of 0.723, 79.4%, and 58.6%, respectively, for high-grade prediction. There was a negative correlation between ADC values and Ki-67 expression (r = -0.526; p < 0.001). When the cut-off value of ADC was 0.997 × 10-3 mm²/s, the AUC, sensitivity, and specificity for predicting high Ki-67 expression were 0.805, 65.6%, and 83.9%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Qualitative and quantitative MRI parameters are valuable for predicting histological grading and Ki-67 expression levels in ASPS. CRITICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: This study will help provide a more nuanced understanding of ASPS and guide personalized treatment strategies. KEY POINTS: There is limited research on assessing ASPS prognosis through MRI. Metastasis, enhancement, and ADC correlated with histological grade; ADC related to Ki-67 expression. MRI provides clinicians with valuable information on ASPS grading and proliferation activity.

Microorganisms in the rhizosphere, particularly arbuscular mycorrhiza, have a broad symbiotic relationship with their host plants. One of the major fungi isolated from the rhizosphere of Peucedanum praeruptorum is Penicillium restrictum. The relationship between the metabolites of P. restrictum and the root exudates of P. praeruptorum is being investigated. The accumulation of metabolites in the mycelium and fermentation broth of P. restrictum was analysed over different fermentation periods. Non-targeted metabolomics was used to compare the differences in intracellular and extracellular metabolites over six periods. There were significant differences in the content and types of mycelial metabolites during the incubation. Marmesin, an important intermediate in the biosynthesis of coumarins, was found in the highest amount on the fourth day of incubation. The differential metabolites were screened to obtain 799 intracellular and 468 extracellular differential metabolites. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis showed that the highly enriched extracellular metabolic pathways were alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism, glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism, and terpenoid backbone biosynthesis. In addition, the enrichment analysis associated with intracellular and extracellular ATP-binding cassette transporter proteins revealed that some ATP-binding cassette transporters may be involved in the transportation of certain amino acids and carbohydrates. Our results provide some theoretical basis for the regulatory mechanisms between the rhizosphere and the host plant and pave the way for the heterologous production of furanocoumarin.

To explore the differences in brain imaging in tinnitus with or without hearing loss (HL). We acquired functional MRI scans from 26 tinnitus patients with HL (tinnitus-HL), 24 tinnitus patients with no HL (tinnitus-NHL), and 26 healthy controls (HCs) matched by age and sex. The left and right thalamus were selected as seeds to study the endogenous functional connectivity (FC) of the whole brain, and its correlation with clinical indices was analyzed. Brain regions showing FC differences among the three groups included the Heschl gyrus (HES), right Hippocampus (HIP), right Amygdala (AMYG), left Calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex (CAL). Post hoc analysis showed that the thalamus-HIP connection and thalamus-lingual gyrus (LING) connection were enhanced in the tinnitus-NHL group, as compared to tinnitus-HL. Compared with HCs, the tinnitus-NHL group showed an enhanced connection between the thalamus and the left Inferior occipital gyrus, left CAL and LING. While in the tinnitus-HL group, the connection between the thalamus and several brain regions (right HES, right AMYG, etc) was weakened. In the tinnitus-HL group, the tinnitus handicap inventory scores were positively correlated with the FC of the left thalamus and right HES, right thalamus and right Rolandic operculum. The duration of tinnitus was negatively correlated with the FC of the right thalamus and right HIP. Abnormal FC in the thalamus may play an important role in the pathogenesis of tinnitus. Tinnitus-NHL and tinnitus-HL show different connection patterns, indicating that there are some differences in their pathogenesis.

ABSTRACT

To resolve the challenges of low detection accuracy and inadequate real-time performance in road scene detection, this article introduces the enhanced algorithm SDG-YOLOv5. The algorithm incorporates the SIoU Loss function to accurately predict the angle loss of bounding boxes, ensuring their directionality during regression and improving both regression accuracy and convergence speed. A novel lightweight decoupled heads (DHs) approach is employed to separate the classification and regression tasks, thereby avoiding conflicts between their focus areas. Moreover, the Global Attention Mechanism Group Convolution (GAMGC), a lightweight strategy, is utilized to enhance the network's capability to process additional contextual information, thereby improving the detection of small targets. Extensive experimental analysis on datasets from Udacity Self Driving Car, BDD100K, and KITTI demonstrates that the proposed algorithm achieves improvements in mAP@.5 of 2.2%, 3.4%, and 1.0% over the original YOLOv5, with a detection speed of 30.3 FPS. These results illustrate that the SDG-YOLOv5 algorithm effectively addresses both detection accuracy and real-time performance in road scene detection.

PURPOSE: To quantify the presence of early structural alterations in the outer retinal layer and choroid among healthy subjects and diabetic patients with no or mild diabetic retinopathy, and to establish the correlation between the measured structural parameters and retinal sensitivity. METHODS: In total, 31 eyes from subjects with type 2 diabetes and 29 eyes from healthy subjects were enrolled. Optical coherence tomography was used to measure outer retina layers and choroid, while microperimetry was used to characterize the changes of visual function in a 6-mm diameter area at macula. Quantitative analysis of structural and functional changes was performed between groups and the structure-function correlations were determined. RESULTS: The thickness of myoid and ellipsoid zone, choroid and the mean retinal sensitivity were significantly smaller in diabetic group than that in controls (all P values < 0.05). Besides, thinner choroid and outer retina was associated with the decreased retinal sensitivity,especially in diabetic patients (r = 0.377, P = 0.048; r = 0.401, P = 0.034; respectively). Final multiple regression models showed the outer retinal thickness (ORT) (P = 0.033), choroidal thickness (P = 0.003) and the interaction between ORT and choroidal thickness (P = 0.001) were significant predictors to retinal sensitivity. CONCLUSIONS: Thinning of choroid and outer retina were significantly correlated with reduced retinal sensitivity, which indicate outer retina and choroid might be potential imaging markers for evaluation of visual function related to neural impairment in type 2 diabetic patients without or in the early stage of diabetic retinopathy.

Importance: Many studies have reported that the interpregnancy interval (IPI) is a potential modifiable risk factor for adverse perinatal outcomes. However, the association between IPI after live birth and subsequent spontaneous abortion (SA) is unclear. Objective: To investigate the association of IPI after a healthy live birth and subsequent SA. Design, Setting, and Participants: This prospective cohort study used data from 180 921 women aged 20 to 49 years who had a single healthy live birth and planned for another pregnancy and who participated in the Chinese National Free Prepregnancy Checkups Project from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2020. Statistical analysis was conducted from June 20 to October 5, 2023. Exposure: Interpregnancy interval, defined as the interval between the delivery date and conception of the subsequent pregnancy, was categorized as follows: less than 18 months, 18 to 23 months, 24 to 35 months, 36 to 59 months, and 60 months or longer. Main Outcomes and Measures: The main outcome was SA. Multivariable-adjusted odds ratios (ORs) were calculated by logistic regression models to examine the association between IPI and the risk of SA. Dose-response associations were evaluated by restricted cubic splines. Results: The analyses included 180 921 multiparous women (mean [SD] age at current pregnancy, 26.3 [2.8] years); 4380 SA events (2.4% of all participants) were recorded. A J-shaped association between IPI levels and SA was identified. In the fully adjusted model, compared with IPIs of 18 to 23 months, both short (<18 months) and long (≥36 months) IPIs showed an increased risk of SA (IPIs of <18 months: OR, 1.15 [95% CI, 1.04-1.27]; IPIs of 36-59 months: OR, 1.28 [95% CI, 1.15-1.43]; IPIs of ≥60 months: OR, 2.13 [95% CI, 1.78-2.56]). Results of the subgroup analysis by mode of previous delivery were consistent with the main analysis. Conclusions and Relevance: This cohort study of multiparous women suggests that an IPI of shorter than 18 months or an IPI of 36 months or longer after a healthy live birth was associated with an increased risk of subsequent SA. The findings are valuable to make a rational prepregnancy plan and may facilitate the prevention of SA and improvement in neonatal outcomes.

ABSTRACT

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are limited by small pores and buried active sites, and their enzyme-like catalytic activity is still very low. Herein, laccase was employed as the organic component to construct laccase@Cu3(BTC)2 nanofractal microspheres. During the preparation process, laccase adsorbed Cu2+ by electrostatic attractive interaction, then combined with Cu2+ by coordination interaction, and finally induced the in situ growth of H3BTC2 in multiple directions by electrostatic repulsion. Interestingly, electrostatic repulsion was tuned efficiently by adjusting the Cu2+ concentration to obtain laccase@Cu3(BTC)2 nanofractal microspheres (nanosheet microspheres, nanorod microspheres, and nanoneedle microspheres). Laccase@Cu3(BTC)2 nanorod microspheres exhibited the highest catalytic efficiency, which was 14-fold higher than that of smooth microspheres. The mechanism of the improvement of catalytic activity in the degradation of BPA was proposed for the first time. The enhanced catalytic activity depended on the adsorption effect of the nanorod framework and dual cycle synergistic catalysis of Cu+/Cu2+ active sites, which accelerated substrate diffusion and electron transfer. The catalytic mechanism of enzyme@MOF nanofractal microspheres not only deepens our understanding of enzyme and MOF synergistic catalysis but also provides new insights into the design of catalysts.

Platypalpus Macquart is reported in Inner Mongolia, China for the first time. Four new species are found: P.flavipilosussp. nov., P.longussp. nov., P.shengisp. nov. and P.shuimogouanussp. nov. This paper provides a description of the four species and a key to the genus in Inner Mongolia.
