ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Rapid rehabilitation nursing (RRN) has been increasingly adopted in China to improve patient outcomes following surgery. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the impact of RRN on hospital stays, postoperative complications, postoperative pain, patients' quality of life (QOL), and patient satisfaction with nursing care compared to traditional nursing care. METHODS: A systematic search of relevant databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library, was conducted to identify eligible studies. The standardized mean difference and 95% confidence intervals were calculated for continuous outcomes (hospital stays, postoperative pain, and QOL). Risk ratios (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals were used for dichotomous outcomes (postoperative complications, patient satisfaction with nursing care). Heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 statistic. Fixed-effects and random-effects models were calculated for each outcome measure. RESULTS: A total of 10 studies including 1,565 patients were included in the meta-analysis. Rapid rehabilitation nursing significantly reduced hospital stays and postoperative complications compared to traditional nursing care. Patients receiving RRN experienced lower postoperative pain scores and improved QOL, although the latter result was not statistically significant. Patient satisfaction with nursing care was significantly higher in the RRN group compared to traditional nursing care. CONCLUSIONS: Rapid rehabilitation nursing appears to be an effective approach for shortening hospital stays, reducing postoperative complications and postoperative pain, and increasing patient satisfaction with nursing care compared to traditional nursing care. The findings support the integration of RRN into clinical practice to enhance patient outcomes and patients' satisfaction with nursing care. Future research should focus on further investigating the impact of RRN on patients' QOL using larger, well-designed studies.

ABSTRACT

Background: Liquid biopsy has been receiving attention as an emerging detection technology in the clinical application of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: We quantified serum circulating free DNA (cfDNA) of syncytin-1 in 126 patients and 106 controls, analyzed the correlation of level with pathological parameters and explored diagnostic utility. Results: The cfDNA of syncytin-1 levels in NSCLC patients were higher than healthy controls (p < 0.0001). These levels were associated with smoking history (p = 0.0393). The area under the curve of cfDNA of syncytin-1 was 0.802, and combination of cfDNA of syncytin-1/cytokeratin 19 fragment antigen 21-1/carcinoembryonic antigen markers improved diagnostic efficiency. Conclusion: The cfDNA of syncytin-1 was detected in NSCLC patients and can be used as a novel molecular marker for early diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

This article explores the possible influencing factor and regular pattern of temperature rise induced by photo-thermal effect of gold nanorods when irradiated with near infrared region (NIR) laser. We used transmission electron microscope and UV-Vis-NIR spectrometer to characterize gold nanorods, then used 808 nm NIR laser with different power to irradiate the gold nanorods in different conditions and measured the temperature of the above solution. The higher the concentration of gold nanorods, the faster the temperature rose and the bigger its amplitude was. When the concentration of gold nanorods was fixed, the relation between power of laser and amplitude of temperature rise was linear. Temperature rise was also related to the shape of container. It could be concluded that amplitude of temperature rise of gold nanorods reaction system was related with concentration of the particles, irradiated power and shape of the container, so that we could control the temperature easily by regulating the irradiated power size of NIR laser in the experiments.

ABSTRACT

Taking Yangmai 18, widely cultivated in south of Huaihe River, as experimental material, this study investigated the effects of application of 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 m3 x hm(-2) pig farm slurry (PS) at the wintering stage combined with the application of 0, 30, 60, 90 kg x hm(-2) urea at the heading stage on medium- and micro-element contents and quality of wheat. The results showed that the Ca, Mg and Fe contents of plant firstly decreased then increased with the extension of the growth period, but the Cu, Zn and Mn contents decreased continuously through the growth period. Ca, Mg, Cu and Zn reached the highest value at every growth stage except the jointing stage when applying 120 m3 x hm(-2) PS with 90 kg x hm(-2) urea. Fe and Mn reached the highest value at every growth stage when applying 120 m3 x hm(-2) PS with 90 kg x hm(-2) urea. The contents of Ca, Mg, Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn all increased with increasing PS application across the growth period. Regarding the quality of wheat, applying 90 m3 x hm(-2) PS with 60 kg x hm(-2) urea was the best fertilization pattern. Combined applications of anaerobically treated PS with N fertilizer could increase medium- and micro-element contents and quality of wheat. Generally, it was recommended to apply 60-120 m3 x hm(-2) PS at the wintering stage and 90 kg x hm(-2) urea at the heading stage under field conditions.

ABSTRACT

Gold nanorods (AuNRs) have been used in plasmonic photothermal therapy (PPTT), which is thought to be more efficient and selective than conventional photothermal therapy. The efficiency and safety of PPTT can be improved by functionally modifying the gold nanorods with proteins or biomolecules. In this study, AuNRs were modified with anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibody (mAb), and the apoptotic potential of EGFRmAb-AuNR was assessed in Hep-2 cells in vitro and in vivo. The EGFRmAb modification had no obvious influence on the original optical property of the AuNRs, but it significantly increased the entry of AuNRs into Hep-2 cells. EGFRmAb-AuNRs, with appropriate laser irradiation, resulted in higher Hep-2 cells apoptosis than AuNRs did alone, in vitro, and was accompanied by alteration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, Ca(2+) release, change in mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm), cytochrome c (Cyt-c) release, active caspase-3 expression, and level of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) and B-cell lymphoma 2 protein-associated X protein (Bax). EGFRmAb-AuNR-mediated apoptosis in Hep-2 cells was also observed in vivo and had an inhibitive effect on growth of Hep-2 tumor xenografts. Our data suggest that the EGFRmAb modification improves AuNR-mediated apoptosis and may have the potential to be used clinically.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to explore the application of 270 mg I/mL iodinated contrast agent with a tube voltage of 100 kV scanning in coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). METHODS: This CCTA study was a prospective observational study. The two radiologists were blinded to both patient information and image date arrangement. One-hundred twenty patients (body mass index < 25.0 kg/m(2)) were randomly divided into three groups based on contrast agent concentrations of 370, 320, and 270 mg I/mL, scanning at an injection rate of 5 ml/s. Then, the coronary artery branches of the three groups were compared, and the display rate, mean computed tomography (CT) value, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), image noise, and radiation dose were analyzed. RESULTS: The artery display rates of the four main branches of coronaries in the three groups were all 100%, and the difference in the display rates of the remaining small branches in the three groups exhibited no statistical significance (p > 0.05). A comparison of the mean CT value of the coronary artery of three groups in the ascending aorta, descending aorta, left main, left ventricular wall, right coronary artery, left anterior descending, and left circumflex showed a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). A comparison of the SNR, CNR, image noise, and radiation dose showed no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Using a tube voltage of 100 kV combined with 270 mg I/mL iodinated contrast media in CCTA examination can achieve the "double low dose" effect while ensuring image quality. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To detect the expression of EGFR in different region of laryngeal tissue, and use quantitive analysis to discuss the relation between expression of EGFR and histological differentiation. METHOD: Collected 36 cases of laryngeal tissue example, which be divided in to three groups based on pathobiology. Using Western Blot to detect the EGFR expression in cancer tissue, para cancer tissue and normal tissue, and combined imaging analytical technique to analyse the relation between expression of EGFR and histological differentiation. RESULT: In same region of cancer tissue the expression of EGFR is different along with different tissue differentiation (P<0.05), but in normal tissue this different is not existing (P>0.05). In same tissue differentiation the expression of EGFR is different in cancer tissue, para cancer tissue and normal tissue (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: EGFR highly express in laryngeal cancer tissue, and relate with the tissue differentiation of laryngeal cancer. EGFR is an important indicator to study the emerging and progression of laryngeal cancer.

ABSTRACT

In the title dinuclear complex, [Cu(2)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(4)(C(2)H(5)OH)(2)], four 2-methyl-benzoato anions form a cage around two Cu(II) ions in a syn-anti configuration. Two ethanol mol-ecules coordinate the Cu atoms in apical positions, giving an overall square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The Cu⋯Cu separation is 2.600 (1) Å. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled into chains extending in [001] through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes on carotid artery of patients with acute ischemic stroke by dual source computed tomographic angiography (DS-CTA) . METHODS: From March 2009 to August 2010, 71 patients with acute ischemic stroke (IS group) underwent magnetic resonance imaging, which showed high signals on diffusion-weighted images. The location of atherosclerotic plaques in carotid artery, the nature of plaques, and the grade of stenosis were analyzed by DS-CTA, and the results were further compared with 45 patients with non-ischemic stroke (control group) . RESULTS: In the IS group, 196 atherosclerotic plaques in the carotid artery were detected in 51 patients; the commonest locations included carotid artery bifurcation (52.0%) and trunk (20.4%) . Most plaques were combined plaques [52.0% (102/196) ] and soft plaques [27.0% (53/196) ] . Moderate and severe stenosis accounted for 86.3% in these 54 patients. The positive rate, nature, and location of plaques and the stenosis degree of artery were significantly different between IS group and control group (allP<0.05) . CONCLUSION: The commonest plaques in the carotid artery of patients with acute ischemic stroke are combined plaques and soft plaques, which often cause moderate and severe stenosis.

ABSTRACT

The aliphatic ether 1,6-dimethoxyhexane (DMH) was previously identified as a testicular toxicant. Testis protein extracts from control and DMH-treated rats were subjected to two-dimensional gel electrophoresis for comparison of protein expression profiles. MALDI-ToF peptide mass fingerprinting of differentially expressed proteins resulted in the conclusive identification of heat shock-related 70kDa protein 2 (HSP70.2), 60kDa heat shock protein, mitochondrial precursor (HSP60) and protein disulfide isomerase A3 precursor (ERp60). The potential involvement of these proteins in chemically induced perturbation of spermatogenesis and their utility as biomarkers of testicular toxicity are discussed in light of the knowledge currently available from the literature.
