ABSTRACT

An efficient transition-metal-free fluorination synthesis of N-H-free 3-heteroaryl-oxindoles with Selectfluor was depicted. Under mild reaction conditions, a series of 3-heteroaryl-fluorooxindoles were produced in yield of 62-88% using Selectfluor as a fluorine source.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>PURPOSE</b>To develop a novel injectable strontium-containing calcium phosphate cement with collagen.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A novel calcium phosphate bone cement (CPC) was prepared with the addition of strontium element, collagenl, and modified starch; the injectability, solidification time, microstructure, phase composition, compressive strength, anti-collapsibility and histological properties of material were evaluated.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The results showed that the material could be injected with an excellent performance; the modified starch significantly improved the anti-washout property of cement; with the liquid to solid ratio of 0.3, the largest compressive strength of cement was obtained (48.0 MPa ± 2.3 MPa); histological examination of repair tissue showed that the bone was repaired after 16 weeks; the degradation of cement was consistent with the new bone growth.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>A novel injectable collagen-strontium-containing CPC with excellent compressive strength and suitable setting time was prepared, with addition of modified starch. The CPC showed a good anti-washout property and the degradation time of the cement met with the new bone growing. This material is supposed to be used in orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery for bone defects.</p>

ABSTRACT

Sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) was compared in three seabuckthrons (Hippophae rhamnoides subsp. sinensis, H. tibetana and H. neurocarpa) distributed in Qinghai Province, then the systematic positions of 15 seabuckthron samples were analyzed with Elaeagnaceae angustifolia being outgroup. The results showed that ITS sequences in three seabuckthron species varied in length from 600 to 605 bp. ITS-1, 5.8S and ITS-2 varied from 201 to 203 bp, 166 to 167 bp and 232 to 236 bp, respectively. The sequence divergence among three seabuckthorn species was also remarkably high; Cluster analysis based on ITS indicated that H. gonicocarpa subsp. litangensis and H. gonicocarpa subsp. goniocarpa were distinct and could be classified as H. gonicocarpa and H. litangensis. H. gyantsensis had the closest genetic relationship with H. salicifolia and the distant relationship with H. rhamnoides subsp. sinensis. The positions of nine subspecies of H. rhamnoides based on morphological classification were different from the results of ITS.

ABSTRACT

Genetics is one of the main courses in agricultural and forestry colleges. However, there is large repetition of teaching contents and joining problems between genetics and the relative courses. The negative effects of above problems are discussed in this paper. In order to relieve the conflict between the increase of genetics contents and the decrease of teaching hours in genetics teaching of undergraduates and provide reference for future textbook compilation, some approaches on solving repetition of teaching content and suggestions on joining problems are put forward.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate surgical technique and clinical efficacy of Sky bone ex- pander kyphoplasty in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures.Methods Eighteen cases with osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures were treated with Sky bone expander kyphoplasty from August 2004 to November 2005.Under the local anesthesia,3.5-5ml of bone cements were injected into each pathologic vertebral body through unipedicle approach after reduction procedure was done with Sky bone expander.Results The postoperative follow-up ranged from 3 to 11 months, with an average of 4.5 months.Back pain was effectively relieved after the operation in all cases.No complications occurred.Conclusion The Sky bone expander kyphoplasty has the advantages of safe- ty,easy operation,minimal invasion,effective restoration of the vertebral body height and fast relief of pain.
