ABSTRACT

Islet transplantation may be the most efficient therapeutic technique for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). However, the clinical application of this method is faced with numerous limitations, including isolated islet apoptosis, recipient rejection, and graft vascular reconstruction. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) possess anti-apoptotic, immunomodulatory, and angiogenic properties. Here, we review recent studies on co-culture and co-transplantation of islets with MSCs. We have summarized the methods of preparation of co-transplantation, especially the merits of co-culture, and the effects of co-transplantation. Accumulating experimental evidence shows that co-culture of islets with MSCs promotes islet survival, enhances islet secretory function, and prevascularizes islets through various pretransplant preparations. This review is expected to provide a reference for exploring the use of MSCs for clinical islet co-transplantation.

ABSTRACT

Based on engineered cell/exosome technology and various skin-related animal models, exosomal microRNA (miRNA)-based therapies derived from natural exosomes have shown good therapeutic effects on nine skin diseases, including full-thickness skin defects, diabetic ulcers, skin burns, hypertrophic scars, psoriasis, systemic sclerosis, atopic dermatitis, skin aging, and hair loss. Comparative experimental research showed that the therapeutic effect of miRNA-overexpressing exosomes was better than that of their natural exosomes. Using a dual-luciferase reporter assay, the targets of all therapeutic miRNAs in skin cells have been screened and confirmed. For these nine types of skin diseases, a total of 11 animal models and 21 exosomal miRNA-based therapies have been developed. This review provides a detailed description of the animal models, miRNA therapies, disease evaluation indicators, and treatment results of exosomal miRNA therapies, with the aim of providing a reference and guidance for future clinical trials. There is currently no literature on the merits or drawbacks of miRNA therapies compared with standard treatments.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of thread embedding at the holographic point Kidney of the second metacarpal bone in treating tinnitus.Method Eighty-two patients with tinnitus were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 41 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by thread embedding at the holographic point Kidney of the second metacarpal bone, while the control group was by intragluteal injection with Mecobalamin 0.5 mg. The Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) was compared before intervention and after 1 treatment course.Result The THI scores were significantly changed in both groups after intervention (P<0.01). The change of THI score after intervention in the treatment group was significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Thread embedding at the holographic point of the second metacarpal bone in an effective approach in treating tinnitus.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To explore near 9-year monitoring of hospital environmental health study to analyze the results of conventional research and take corresponding measures to the problem.METHODS Hospital Infection Control Branch Department full-time staff and part-time nurses were monitored by conventional monitoring of environmental hygiene, the results of an analysis of seasonal climate for different environmental factors and air-conditioning.Corresponding measures, with particular emphasis on air conditioning filters clean and disinfect through the monitoring results of 4000 cases for the control group and experimental group were compared at the same period a year.RESULTS Take appropriate measures before and after the monitoring results of environmental health science and the infection rate appeared too high a failure rate of 3-10 in the month of the month especially, the use of the control group occurred in a failure rate of 1.5%,Test group to adopt corresponding measures after the failure rate of 0.7%,2000-2008 can be seen from Table 1 the incidence of hospital infection in three hours before the measures taken before and after the distribution of differences(P

ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the prevalence rate of mild cognitive impairment(MCI) of the aged people in the communities of Taiyuan, and to provide evidence for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease(AD). Methods Using a simple mental state examination(MMSE),2895 aged people of over 60 years from three communities of Wanbailin in Taiyuan were selected by cluster random sampling method. The MCI elderly patients screened were investigated further by using community health status questionnaire. Results The average MCI prevalent rate of the aged people was 7.6%;Age,marital status and education background significantly affected prevalent rate(P

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To explore a more effective method of detecting sleep respiratory events in children. METHODS Thirty-eight children were tested with HypnoPTT and 31 with polysomnography (control). The test parameters and operative methods were compared. RESULTS In addition to the parameters comm.on to both HypnoPTT and polysomnography, inspiratory flow limitation and spontaneous microarousal can be measured using HypnoPTT and fewer electrodes were needed. CONCLUSION HypnoPTT is a convenient method characterized by less sleep disturbance and credible results, rendering it is especially suitable for pediatric cases. Pulse transit time is a useful parameter for diagnosing the sleep respiratory disease.
