ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The study seeks to investigate the expression of S100A9 and its potential role in periodontal diseases induced by diabetes. METHODS: A diabetic SD rat model was established through intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ). Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was performed to study the structure of the periodontium of diabetic rats. Using immunohistochemical staining, the distribution of S100A9 expression was detected in the periodontium of diabetic rats. Ex-pressions of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) (ligands of S100A9) and p-P65/nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) were also measured. RESULTS: The trabecular structure of alveolar bone was sparser, and lamina dura was disappeared in diabetic rats. Obviously higher expressions of S100A9 were observed in the periodontal ligament, alveolar bone, and gingival epithelial of diabetic rats than in the control rats. TLR4 expressions in the periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and gingival epithelial of the diabetic rats were also higher as compared to the control rats. p-P65 expression was not detected in the control rats, but was detected in the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone of the diabetic rats. CONCLUSIONS: Periodontium lesions in diabetes mellitus may be induced by the activation of TLR4 and NF-κB signaling pathway meditated by S100A9.

ABSTRACT

Objective To improve the serum quality controlling level ,in order to regularize and standardize the laboratory processes .Methods Gallery of hemolysis ,lipidemia or icterus serum specimens was established by Roche cobas p612 QSI camera system .The trouble serum specimens were screened out through taking photos of interfere serum and comparing with the gallery . The serum indexes of hemolysis ,lipidemia and icterus were detected respectively as reference information of inspection report .Com‐paring the results of 16 710 specimens detected by system screening and visual judgment ,the accuracy of QSI camera system was verified .Results 195 trouble serum pictures were elected in the gallery .The compliance rates of hemolysis ,lipidemia and icterus se‐rum specimen between QSI camera system and visual judgment were 94 .2% ,87 .4% ,and 60 .9% respectively .Conclusion The QSI camera system can replace visual judgment to screen the trouble serum specimens .

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the related factors about the rising cesarean section rates, and to propose feasible measures to reduce cesarean section rates. Methods Cesarean section cases in our hospital from January, 2000 to December, 2009 were retrospectively analyzed. Results The cesarean section rate increased year by year,32.0% in 2000,34.5% in 2001,35.0% in 2002,32.3% in 2003,37.1% in 2004,37.9% in 2005,40.2% in 2006,41.7% in 2007,43.6% in 2008,46.1% in 2009. Conclusions Effective measures should be taken to reduce the cesarean section rate.
