ABSTRACT
The isolation of five bitter-tasting steroids as minor constituents from the Chinese medicinal plant Tacca plantaginea (Taccaceae), taccalonolides G, H, I, J, and K is described. Their structures were elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods.
ABSTRACT
For HPLC analysis of cardenolide glycosides of Digitalis lanata the separation of the main compounds from other constituents is useful. An improved method for doing this, based on solid-phase extraction on a C18 modified poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) polymer, is described. The presented assay permits quantitative estimation of more than 50 cardenolides in about 2 mg of dried leaf powder of Digitalis lanata with high speed and accuracy.

No remarkable differences in the cardenolide pattern of the four varieties of DIGITALIS SUBALPINA could be found. Subalpinoside (Oleandrigenin-glucodigitoxoside) is the main cardiac glycoside in all varieties.
ABSTRACT
From the leaves of DIGITALIS SUBALPINA Br.-Bl. var. SUBALPINA an oleandrigenin glycoside was isolated as the main cardiotonic compound besides some known glycosides such as evatromonoside, lanatoside A and B, gitoroside, and others. The structure of this compound was elucidated by spectroscopic methods ( (1)H-, (13)C-, 2D-NMR spectroscopy) as gluco-oleandrigenin digitoxoside. This is the first report of the occurrence of oleandrigenin derivatives in a DIGITALIS species.
ABSTRACT
From the leaves of PENSTEMON RICHARDSONII Dougl., four valeriana-type ester iridoids have been isolated and structurally elucidated as serrulatoloside, 10-deoxypatrinoside, serrulatoloside-aglycone, and 10-deoxypatrinoside-aglycone.
ABSTRACT
In addition to the main flavonol glycoside spiraeoside in bulbs of ALLIUM CEPA L., kaempferol-4'-glucoside ( 1) has been found in smaller amounts. Traces of other flavonoids could be detected also.
ABSTRACT
Beside sitosterol, sitosterolglucoside, and sopoletine, 7 flavonol glycosides have been isolated for the first time from flowers of URTICA DIOICA (male and female). Their structures were determined by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods (UV, FD-MS, (1)H-NMR, (13)C-NMR).
ABSTRACT
From leaves of PENSTEMON CONFERTUS Dougl. a valeriana-type ester iridoid has been isolated and structurally elucidated as dihydropenstemide by spectroscopic methods. Catalytic hydrogenation of penstemide provides a new compound, identified as 8- EPI-dihydropenstemide.
ABSTRACT
From the leaves of DIGITALIS LANATA Ehrh. two new Cardenolides have been found and structurally elucidated as Digoxigenin-3-O-beta- D-digitoxosido-beta- D-digitoxosido-beta- D-2,6-dideoxy-glucoside and Glucodigoxoside by TLC and spectroscopic methods.
ABSTRACT
From the leaves of DIGITALIS LANATA Ehrh. two new Cardenolides have been found and structurally elucidated as Digoxigenin-3-O-beta- D-digitoxosido-beta- D-digitoxosido-beta- D-xyloside bei TLC and spectroscopic methods.
ABSTRACT
From the leaves of DIGITALIS LANATA Ehrh. two as yet unknown cardenolides have been found. They were structurally elucidated as Digoxigenin-3-O-beta- D-digitoxosido-beta- D-2,6-dideoxyglucoside and Digoxigenin-3-O-beta- D-digitaloside by TLC and mainly spectroscopic methods.
