ABSTRACT

The results of the clinical and therapeutic factors in prognostic mean was presented. 48 cases of granulosa cell tumours treated from 1984 to 1994 in Oncology Centre in Warsaw were analysed. In investigated group 13 patients died, but only 8 because of relapse of the tumour. Among all analysed patients, 79% have reached 5 years free survival period. Tumour rupture, FIGO stage and incidence of irregular bleeding before recognition of the tumour had significant prognostic value. There were surprising that relative risk of relapse between patients stage I and II were similar (1.0 vs 1.01). The relative risk between I and III stage had strong prognostic difference. Additional operation after no radical surgery did not influence on better prognosis, but followed radiotherapy increase treatment results.

ABSTRACT

Neovascularisation is the integral part of tumor development. Presence and type of pathological vascularisation can be used in therapy monitoring and follow up. The value of beta HCG and pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) in 14 women treated for nonmetastatic persistent trophoblastic disease (NMTD) were been compared. There was statistical, significant correlation between dropped BHCG level and increased value of RI. No correlation between BHCG blood concentration and values of PI was observed. In summary it should be stated that color Doppler ultrasonography is useful method in monitoring patients with NMTD.

ABSTRACT

Twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP) syndrome is a rare but severe complication of monozygotic monochorionic twin pregnancies. The outcome is invariably fatal for the abnormal twins and for 50-75% of the normal co-twins. The prenatal diagnosis of the TRAP always has to be presumed in a multiple pregnancy within which a twin pair grows whenever cardiac activity can not be proved echographically. We present discuss--based upon literature research--pathogenic mechanisms, pathologic-anatomic, echographic diagnosis and management of these high-risk pregnancies.

ABSTRACT

It was analysed microscopic features of 226 placentas from normal pregnancies. The 146 of them was obtained from phenol's polluted area (Plock) and 80 from control group (Kutno). The exceeding of physiology norm of phenol in 24 hour urine pregnant women from Plock area was measure of pollution.

ABSTRACT

It was analysed the microscopic features of 226 placentas from normal pregnancies. The 146 of them were obtained from Plock's area and 80 from control group (Kutno). It was demonstrated statistical significant differences in amount of microinfarctions in terminal villi and canalized fibrin in placentas obtained from Plock area in compare with control group.

ABSTRACT

The aim of the research was determination of influence phenol pollution of the environment on the duration of non complicated pregnancy in women who delivered healthy newborn with normal birth weight. The analysis was done in 226 pregnant women, 146 were from phenols polluted area (Plock) and 80 from control group (Kutno). There was no significant influence phenol's pollution on the duration of pregnancy.

ABSTRACT

It was analysed selected macroscopic features of 226 placentas from normal pregnancies. The 146 of them was obtained from phenol's polluted area (Pøock) and from control group (Kutno). The exceeding of physiologic norm of phenol's excretion in 24-hours urine from pregnant women was the measure of pollution.

ABSTRACT

It was analysed selected features macroscopic of 226 placentas from normal pregnancies. The 146 was obtained from phenol's polluted area (Plock) and 80 from control group. It was proved statistical significant difference in distance of membrane rupture from placentas edge and in quality of amniotic epithelium. The appearance of this changes demonstrates (proves) for disadvantageous phenol's influence on the placenta.

ABSTRACT

For the study 17 patients aged 26-55 years were qualified after ineffective treatment with carbamazepine and/or valproate for simple partial, complex partial or secondary generalized seizures. The criterion of resistance to treatment was the occurrence of four or more seizures monthly. The treatment with lamotrigine was successful in 9 (52%) cases, with reduction of seizures by at least 50%. In 2 cases the seizure activity in EEG became normal. In 8 cases the addition of lamotrigine was ineffective and the drug was discontinued (in one case due to allergic rash and in one the cause was toxic hepatocellular damage).

ABSTRACT

Recently there has been achieved a substantial progress in research concerning pathogenesis of subacute spongiform viral encephalopathies. For this group of disorders, there has been found a common unconventional virus - proteinaceous infectious particle (PrP). There has been recognised a molecular mass, biochemical composition and physicochemical properties of this infectious form. Mutations of scrapie amyloid precursor gene discovered in Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker syndrome (GSS) and familial cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) have been revealed. Nowadays examinations in the field of relationships between prion protein and mutations of scrapie precursor gene are continued.

ABSTRACT

Cyclobarbital inhibited diazepam metabolism by rat liver supernatant only at concentrations of 1 mM. Ethylmorphine N-demethylation is strongly inhibited by diazepam in a non-competitive manner whereas cyclobarbital shows a competitive inhibition type. Both cyclobarbital and oxazepam are weak inhibitors. Hexobarbital- evokes typical type I spectral changes with rat liver microsomes whereas cyclobarbital and diazepam-induced spectral changes are similar to type II or inverse type I. Barbital evoked the same type of spectral changes as diazepam and cyclobarbital. With the usual concentration in vivo the metabolism of diazepam and other drugs can scarcely be influenced by cyclobarbital.
