ABSTRACT

Background: Methods for washed microbiota transplantation (WMT) through the mid-gut include transendoscopic enteral tubing (TET) and manual spiral nasojejunal tube (SNT) placement have not been studied. Methods: This prospective interventional study was performed at a single centre. Patients were divided into the SNT and mid-gut TET groups based on their conditions and wishes. In the SNT group, an SNT was passively inserted into the stomach, and abdominal X-rays were taken within 24 h to confirm tube placement in the small intestine. In the mid-gut TET group, mid-gut TET was placed in the small intestine for gastroscopy. Data on the clinical efficacy of WMT, intubation time, cost, overall comfort score, adverse reactions, etc., were collected from the two groups. Results: Sixty-three patients were included in the study (SNT group (n = 40) and mid-gut TET group (n = 23)). The clinical efficacy of WMT in the SNT and mid-gut TET groups was 90 % and 95.7 %, respectively (P = 0.644). Compared with the mid-gut TET group, the SNT group showed a shorter operation time (120 s vs. 258 s, P = 0.001) and a lower average cost (641.7 yuan vs. 1702.1 yuan, P = 0.001). There was no significant difference in the overall comfort score or the incidence of common discomfort symptoms between the two groups. Conclusion: The different implantation methods have different advantages; compared with mid-gut TET placement, manual SNT placement provides some benefits.

Background: Sepsis, characterized by life-threatening organ dysfunction, stems from an unregulated host response. Timely identification is pivotal for enhancing the prognosis of sepsis patients. Objective: This study aims to explore the diagnostic and prognostic values of alkaline phosphatase on the surface membrane of neutrophils (mNAP) in peripheral blood among sepsis patients. Design: The study employed a retrospective design. Setting: This study was conducted at Donghai County People's Hospital. Participants: A total of 180 sepsis patients were selected and categorized into the sepsis shock group (n=45) and the sepsis non-shock group (n=135). Additionally, 35 patients with non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome served as the control group. Interventions: mNAP was assessed via flow cytometry, while serum procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were measured through immunoassay. Primary Outcome Measures: (1) Changes in mNAP, PCT, and CRP. (2) Correlation of mNAP with CRP and PCT in sepsis patients. (3) Diagnostic values of mNAP, PCT, and CRP in sepsis. Results: Statistically significant differences in mNAP, PCT, and CRP were observed between the sepsis shock group, the sepsis non-shock group, and the control group (P = .000). The median value of mNAP (22627 Ab/c) in the 28-day death group was significantly higher than that (5100 Ab/c) in the survival group (P = .000). Spearman rank correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between mNAP, PCT, and CRP in sepsis patients (P < .01). Conclusions: Both mNAP and PCT exhibit superior diagnostic specificity and sensitivity compared to CRP. While mNAP demonstrates similar sensitivity to PCT in diagnosing sepsis, its diagnostic specificity surpasses that of PCT. mNAP holds promise as a novel marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of sepsis.

Introduction: Postorgasmic illness syndrome (POIS) is characterized by allergic symptoms and flu-like illness after ejaculation. There are still no effective treatments for POIS. Aim: To report the first case of washed microbiota transplantation (WMT) to treat patient with POIS. Methods: Data were collected from a patient with POIS who had received 3 courses of WMT: self-rating scale of POIS symptoms, Self-rating Anxiety Scale, Self-rating Depression Scale, and Symptom Checklist 90. The patient's stool samples for 16sDNA sequencing were collected 1 month after WMT. Results: POIS symptoms improved after WMT. Scores decreased from baseline after WMT: self-rating scale of POIS symptoms (before WMT, 16; after first, 16; after second, 8; after third, 9), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (45, 42.5, 37.5, 45), Self-rating Depression Scale (63.75, 58.75, 47.5, 50), and Symptom Checklist 90 (143, 140, 109, 149). Characteristics of the patient's gut microbiota changed. At the genus level, the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria increased, and some opportunistic pathogenic bacteria decreased. Conclusion: WMT may be an effective and safe choice for the treatment of patients with POIS by changing the gut microbiota of the host.

ABSTRACT

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aging-related and heterogeneous hematopoietic malignancy. In this study, a total of 1,474 newly diagnosed AML patients with RNA sequencing data were enrolled, and targeted or whole exome sequencing data were obtained in 94% cases. The correlation of aging-related factors including age and clonal hematopoiesis (CH), gender, and genomic/transcriptomic profiles (gene fusions, genetic mutations, and gene expression networks or pathways) was systematically analyzed. Overall, AML patients aged 60 y and older showed an apparently dismal prognosis. Alongside age, the frequency of gene fusions defined in the World Health Organization classification decreased, while the positive rate of gene mutations, especially CH-related ones, increased. Additionally, the number of genetic mutations was higher in gene fusion-negative (GF-) patients than those with GF. Based on the status of CH- and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)-related mutations, three mutant subgroups were identified among the GF- AML cohort, namely, CH-AML, CH-MDS-AML, and other GF- AML. Notably, CH-MDS-AML demonstrated a predominance of elderly and male cases, cytopenia, and significantly adverse clinical outcomes. Besides, gene expression networks including HOXA/B, platelet factors, and inflammatory responses were most striking features associated with aging and poor prognosis in AML. Our work has thus unraveled the intricate regulatory circuitry of interactions among different age, gender, and molecular groups of AML.

ABSTRACT

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) remains challenging to diagnose and treat clinically due to its difficult early diagnosis, low surgical resection rate, and high risk of postoperative recurrence and metastasis. SMAD4 is a classical mutated gene in pancreatic cancer and is lost in up to 60%-90 % of PAAD patients, and its mutation often predicts a poor prognosis and treatment resistance. In this study, based on the expression profile data in The Cancer Genome Atlas database, we identified a ceRNA network composed of 2 lncRNAs, 1 miRNA, and 4 mRNAs through differential expression analysis and survival prognosis analysis. Among them, high expression of KLK10/LIPH/PARD6B/SLC52A3 influenced the prognosis and overall survival of PAAD patients. We confirmed the high expression of these target genes in pancreatic tissue of pancreatic-specific SMAD4-deficient mice. In addition, immune infiltration analysis showed that the high expression of these target genes affects the tumor immune environment and contributes to the progression of PAAD. Abnormal overexpression of these target genes may be caused by hypermethylation. In conclusion, we found that KLK10/LIPH/PARD6B/SLC52A3 is a potential prognostic marker for PAAD based on a competing endogenous RNA-mediated mechanism and revealed the potential pathogenic mechanism by which deficient expression of SMAD4 promotes pancreatic cancer progression, which provides a new pathway and theoretical basis for targeted therapy or improved prognosis of pancreatic cancer. These data will help reveal potential therapeutic targets for pancreatic cancer and improve the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients.

ABSTRACT

Clinical pharmacists participated in the drug therapy of peritonitis caused by Methylobacterium infection in a patient with renal insufficiency. Based on the knowledge of clinical pharmacy, the patient's condition and laboratory parameters, the literature, and the pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic characteristics of antibiotics, amikacin in combination with ciprofloxacin was suggested for anti-infection therapy. During the treatment, clinical pharmacists timely evaluated the efficacy of antibiotics, monitored the adverse reactions, and provided individualized pharmaceutical care in the patient.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The complicated association of daytime napping, biological aging and cognitive function remains inconclusive. We aimed to evaluate the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations of daytime napping and two aging measures with cognition and to examine whether napping affects cognition through a more advanced state of aging. Methods: Data was collected from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. Napping was self-reported. We calculated two published biological aging measures: Klemera and Doubal biological age (KDM-BA) and physiological dysregulation (PD), which derived information from clinical biomarkers. Cognitive z-scores were calculated at each wave. Linear mixed models were used to explore the longitudinal association between napping, two aging measures, and cognitive decline. Mediation analyses were performed to assess the mediating effects of biological age acceleration on the association between napping and cognition. Results: Participants aged over 45 years were included in the analyses. Non-nappers had greater KDM-BA and PD [LS means (LSM) = 0.255, p = 0.007; LSM = 0.085, p = 0.011] and faster cognitive decline (LSM = -0.061, p = 0.005)compared to moderate nappers (30-90 min/nap). KDM-BA (ß = -0.007, p = 0.018) and PD (ß = -0.034, p < 0.001) showed a negative association with overall cognitive z scores. KDM-BA and PD partially mediated the effect of napping on cognition. Conclusion: In middle-aged and older Chinese, compared to moderate nappers, non-nappers seem to experience a more advanced state of aging and increased rates of cognitive decline. The aging status possibly mediates the association between napping and cognition. Moderate napping shows promise in promoting healthy aging and reducing the burden of cognitive decline in Chinese middle-aged and older adults.

ABSTRACT

In the present study, the developmental toxicity and endocrine-disrupting effects of fenpropathrin on Gobiocypris rarus during the early life stage were studied using a semi-static water exposure method. The results showed that the LOEC (lowest observed effect concentration) of fenpropathrin on the incubation of rare minnow embryos was above 2.5 µg·L-1. The LOEC and NOEC (no observed effect concentration) of fenpropathrin on the developmental malformations and death indicators were 2.0 and 1.5 µg·L-1, respectively. After exposure to 1.5 µg·L-1 of fenpropathrin for 31 days, the expressions of androgen receptor genes (AR) and sex hormone-synthesis-related genes (CYP17 and CYP19a) were significantly decreased and the expressions of thyroid hormone receptor genes (TRß) and aryl hydrocarbon receptor genes (AhR1a and AhR2) were significantly increased in juvenile Gobiocypris rarus. The expression levels of the androgen receptor gene (AR), estrogen receptor gene (ER1), and the sex hormone-synthesis-related genes (HMGR, CYP17, and CYP19a) were significantly decreased, while the estrogen receptor gene (ER2a), thyroid hormone receptor gene (TRß), and aromatic hydrocarbon receptor genes (AhR1a and AhR2) were upregulated in juvenile Gobiocypris rarus under exposure to 2.0 µg·L-1 of fenpropathrin. Relatively low concentrations of fenpropathrin can affect the expression of sex hormone receptor genes, genes related to sex hormone synthesis, thyroid hormone receptor genes, and aromatic hydrocarbon receptor genes, thus interfering with the reproductive system, thyroid system, and metabolic level in Gobiocypris rarus. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the endocrine-disrupting effect caused by the pyrethroid insecticides in the water environment. Furthermore, studies on the internal mechanism of the endocrine-disrupting effect of pyrethroid insecticides on fish is needed in the future.

ABSTRACT

Background: Washed microbiota transplantation (WMT) as the improved methods of fecal microbiota transplantation has been employed as a therapeutic approach for ameliorating symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In this context, colonic transendoscopic enteral tubing (TET) has been utilized as a novel procedure for administering WMT. Methods: Data of children with ASD who received WMT by TET were retrospectively reviewed, including bowel preparation methods, TET operation time, success rate, tube retention time, the comfort of children, adverse events, and parent satisfaction. Results: A total of 38 participants underwent 124 colonic TET catheterization procedures. The average time of TET operation was 15 minutes, and the success rate was 100% (124/124). There was no significant difference in TET operation time between high-seniority physicians and low-seniority physicians. In 123 procedures (99%), the TET tube allowed the completion of WMT treatment for 6 consecutive days. In 118 procedures (95.2%), the tube was detached spontaneously after the end of the treatment course, and the average TET tube retention time was 8 days. There was no incidence of tube blockage during the treatment course. No severe adverse events occurred during follow-up. Parents of all participants reported a high level of satisfaction with TET. Conclusion: Colonic TET is a safe and feasible method for WMT in children with ASD.

ABSTRACT

Understanding the mechanism sustaining cardiac fibrillation can facilitate the personalization of treatment. Granger causality analysis can be used to determine the existence of a hierarchical fibrillation mechanism that is more amenable to ablation treatment in cardiac time-series data. Conventional Granger causality based on linear predictability may fail if the assumption is not met or given sparsely sampled, high-dimensional data. More recently developed information theory-based causality measures could potentially provide a more accurate estimate of the nonlinear coupling. However, despite their successful application to linear and nonlinear physical systems, their use is not known in the clinical field. Partial mutual information from mixed embedding (PMIME) was implemented to identify the direct coupling of cardiac electrophysiology signals. We show that PMIME requires less data and is more robust to extrinsic confounding factors. The algorithms were then extended for efficient characterization of fibrillation organization and hierarchy using clinical high-dimensional data. We show that PMIME network measures correlate well with the spatio-temporal organization of fibrillation and demonstrated that hierarchical type of fibrillation and drivers could be identified in a subset of ventricular fibrillation patients, such that regions of high hierarchy are associated with high dominant frequency.

ABSTRACT

CLIC5 encoded protein associates with actin-based cytoskeletal and is increasingly thought to play significant roles in human cancers. We use TCGA and GEO to explore CLIC5 expression differences, mutation and DNA methylation, TMB, MSI, and immune cell infiltration. We verified the mRNA expression of CLIC5 in human ovarian cancer cells by real-time PCR and detected the expression of CLIC5 as well as immune marker genes in ovarian cancer by immunohistochemistry. The pan-cancer analysis showed that CLIC5 is highly expressed in several malignant tumors. In some cancers, CLIC5 expression in tumor samples is associated with poorer overall survival. For example, patients with ovarian cancer with high expression of CLIC5 have a poor prognosis. CLIC5 mutation frequency increased in all tumor types. The CLIC5 promoter is hypomethylated in most tumors. CLIC5 was associated with tumor immunity and different immune cells of different tumor types, such as CD8 + T cells, tumor-associated fibroblasts, macrophages, etc. CLIC5 was positively correlated with various immune checkpoints, and TMB and MSI were correlated with dysregulation of CLIC5 in tumors. The expression of CLIC5 in ovarian cancer was detected by qPCR and IHC, and the results were consistent with the bioinformatics results. There were a strong positive correlation between CLIC5 expression and M2 macrophage (CD163) infiltration and a negative correlation with CD8 + T-cell infiltration. In conclusions, our first pan-cancer analysis offered a detailed grasp of the cancerogenic functions of CLIC5 in a variety of malignancies. CLIC5 participated in immunomodulation and performed a crucial function in the tumor microenvironment.

ABSTRACT

There is increasing focus on applying deep learning methods to electrocardiograms (ECGs), with recent studies showing that neural networks (NNs) can predict future heart failure or atrial fibrillation from the ECG alone. However, large numbers of ECGs are needed to train NNs, and many ECGs are currently only in paper format, which are not suitable for NN training. We developed a fully-automated online ECG digitisation tool to convert scanned paper ECGs into digital signals. Using automated horizontal and vertical anchor point detection, the algorithm automatically segments the ECG image into separate images for the 12 leads and a dynamical morphological algorithm is then applied to extract the signal of interest. We then validated the performance of the algorithm on 515 digital ECGs, of which 45 were printed, scanned and redigitised. The automated digitisation tool achieved 99.0% correlation between the digitised signals and the ground truth ECG (n = 515 standard 3-by-4 ECGs) after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the performance of average correlation was from 90 to 97% across the leads on all 3-by-4 ECGs. There was a 97% correlation for 12-by-1 and 3-by-1 ECG formats after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the average correlation of some leads in 12-by-1 ECGs was 60-70% and the average correlation of 3-by-1 ECGs achieved 80-90%. ECGs that were printed, scanned, and redigitised, our tool achieved 96% correlation with the original signals. We have developed and validated a fully-automated, user-friendly, online ECG digitisation tool. Unlike other available tools, this does not require any manual segmentation of ECG signals. Our tool can facilitate the rapid and automated digitisation of large repositories of paper ECGs to allow them to be used for deep learning projects.

ABSTRACT

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia and causes significant morbidity and mortality. Early identification of AF may lead to early treatment of AF and may thus prevent AF-related strokes and complications. However, there is no current formal, cost-effective strategy for population screening for AF. In this review, we give a brief overview of targeted screening for AF, AF risk score models used for screening and describe the different screening tools. We then go on to extensively discuss the potential applications of machine learning in AF screening.

ABSTRACT

Keratin liposomes have emerged as a useful topical drug delivery system given theirenhanced ability to penetrate the skin, making them ideal as topical drug vehicles. However, the mechanisms of the drug penetration enhancement of keratin liposomes have not been clearly elucidated. Therefore, licochalcone A(LA)-loaded skin keratin liposomes (LALs) were prepared to investigate their mechanisms of penetration enhancement on the skin and inB16F10 cells. Skin deposition studies, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), attenuated total reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), and skin distribution and intracellular distribution studies were carried out to demonstrate the drug enhancement mechanisms of LALs. We found that the optimal application of LALs enhanced drug permeation via alterations in the components, structure, and thermodynamic properties of the stratum corneum (SC), that is, by enhancing the lipid fluidization, altering the skin keratin, and changing the thermodynamic properties of the SC. Moreover, hair follicles were the main penetration pathways for the LA delivery, which occurred in a time-dependent manner. In the B16F10 cells, the skin keratin liposomes effectively delivered LA into the cytoplasm without cytotoxicity. Thus, LAL nanoparticles are promising topical drug delivery systems for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Hip fracture is a common and serious emergency in the elderly, and it is associated with severe pain, significant morbidity and mortality. The use of peripheral nerve block can relieve pain effectively and reduce opioid requirements, which may accelerate patient's recovery. The pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block has been found to provide an effective blockade to the hip joint with a potential motor-sparing effect, so we hypothesised that the PENG block may be an effective tool to enhance the recovery in elderly patients after hip fracture surgery. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This study is a single-centred, randomised, parallel controlled, double-blind trial. A total of 92 elderly patients scheduled for hip fracture surgery will be divided into two groups at random to receive either ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block or ultrasound-guided PENG block. The primary outcome will be to compare the Quality of Recovery-15 scores at 24 hours postoperatively between the two groups. The secondary outcomes will include measuring and comparing the strength of the quadriceps, the visual analogue scale at rest and on movement, the total morphine consumption, the rescue analgesic, the first time of postoperative out-of-bed mobilisation and complications. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Ethics Committee of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine on 15 December 2020 (reference K2020-110). The results of this study will be published in peer-reviewed international journals. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: ChiCTR2100042341.

ABSTRACT

The environmental behaviors of microplastics (MPs) have garnered ever-increasing attention globally. To overcome the limitations of commonly used "black box", a real-time pore-scale visualization system including microscope, charge coupled device (CCD) microscope camera, and flow cell (connected with pump and sample collector) was used to unravel the transport and retention mechanisms of fragmental microplastics (FMPs) in saturated and unsaturated porous media. The breakthrough curves (BTCs) of effluent concentrations from the flow cells were used to quantitatively analyze FMPs transport. The videos gathered from different transport scenarios indicated that FMPs can move along with the bulk flow in porous media, but also move around the sand surfaces via sliding, rolling, and saltating patterns. The FMPs were retained in porous media mainly via deposition and straining in saturated porous media. Interestingly, little FMPs were captured by the air-water interface in unsaturated conditions. The mobility of FMPs varied with environmental factors, which became lower at higher solution ionic strength (IS), smaller grain size, and lower water content in porous media. Flow rate barely affected the transport of FMPs under 0.1 mM IS with the mass recovery rate ranging between 65.8 and 67.5%, but significantly enhanced FMPs mobility under 10 mM IS through reducing the moving rate. The IS and grain size showed a more significant effect on the transport of FMPs in unsaturated porous media. Our findings, for the first time, visually deciphered the transport and retention patterns of MPs with fragmental shapes on pore-scale, expanding our current knowledge of the fate and transport of more realistic MPs in the environment.

ABSTRACT

In this study, the utility and diagnostic accuracy of alkaline phosphatase on the surface membrane of neutrophils (mNAP) for bacteremia in patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) was investigated and assessed. A total of 149 patients with SIRS were included. mNAP values were significantly higher in bacteremic SIRS group compared with that in non-bacteremic SIRS group (P < 0.001). The mNAP levels were significantly higher in SIRS patients with gram-negative bacteremia than those with gram-positive bacteremia. (P < 0.001). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis revealed the areas under ROC (AUC) of 0.806 for mNAP in differentiating SIRS patients with bacteremia from those without, similar to that for procalcitonin (PCT) (0.797). Combination of PCT and mNAP gave an AUC of 0.841. mNAP shares a similar diagnostic accuracy to PCT in predicting bacteremia in SIRS patients. The combination of mNAP and PCT provides a better prediction of bacteremia in patients with SIRS than either test alone.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Conventional medicine for the treatment of IBD is prevailingly composed of sulfadiazine, 5-aminosalicylic acid, glucocorticoid, and immunosuppressants, which have the merits of alleviating intestine inflammation, but long-term use of these drugs may cause toxic side effects; additionally, these drugs may be expensive. In the pursuit of novel and more economic therapies, patients may increasingly look at complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Recently, CAM is increasingly favored by the general public on account of its safety, low toxicity, and effectiveness. As a branch of CAM, herbal plants and their extracts have a significant effect on the treatment of IBD. Treatment of IBD with herbaceous plants has been reported, but specific mechanisms and effects have not yet been elaborated. METHODS: English abstracts were identified in PubMed and Science Direct by multiple search terms, such as "herbal," "CAM," "IBD," "ulcerative colitis," "abdominal pain," and so on. Full-length articles were selected for review. RESULTS: Herbaceous plants and their extracts have been shown to be effective against IBD in many studies, and herbaceous plants may be effective in treating symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, mucus, and bloody stools. CONCLUSIONS: Herbal medications could be used as a complementary and alternative treatment for IBD, but they require more rigorous scientific testing.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to compare the in vitro Fick's first law, in vitro lipolysis, and in vivo rat assays for oral absorption of Biopharmaceutical Classification Systems Class II (BCS II) drugs in self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS), and studied drugs and oils properties effects on the absorption. METHODS: The transport abilities of griseofulvin (GRI), phenytoin (PHE), indomethacin (IND), and ketoprofen (KET) in saturated water solutions and SNEDDS were investigated using the in vitro Madin-Darby canine kidney cell model. GRI and cinnarizine (CIN) in medium-chain triglycerides (MCT)-SNEDDS and long-chain triglycerides (LCT)-SNEDDS were administered in the in vivo SD rat and in vitro lipolysis models to compare the oral absorption and the distribution behaviors in GIT and build an in vitro-in vivo correlation (IVIVC). RESULTS: In the cell model, the solubility of GRI, PHE, IND, and KET increased 6-8 fold by SNEDDS, but their permeability were only 18%, 4%, 8%, and 33% of those of their saturated water solutions, respectively. However, in vivo absorption of GRI-SNEDDS was twice that of the GRI suspension and those of CIN-SNEDDS were 15-21 fold those of the CIN suspension. In the lipolysis model, the GRI% in aqueous and pellet phases of MCT were similar to that in LCT. In contrast, the CIN% in the aqueous and pellet phases were decreased but that of the lipid phase increased. In addition, an IVIVC was found between the CIN% in the lipid phase and in vivo relative oral bioavailability (F r). CONCLUSION: The in vitro cell model was still a suitable tool to study drug properties effects on biofilm transport and SNEDDS absorption mechanisms. The in vitro lipolysis model provided superior oral absorption simulation of SNEDDS and helped to build correlation with in vivo rats. The oral drug absorption was affected by drug and oil properties in SNEDDS.

ABSTRACT

Acoustic analysis using signal processing tools can be used to extract voice features to distinguish whether a voice is pathological or healthy. The proposed work uses spectrogram of voice recordings from a voice database as the input to a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for automatic feature extraction and classification of disordered and normal voice. The novel classifier achieved 88.5%, 66.2% and 77.0% accuracy on training, validation and testing data set respectively on 482 normal and 482 organic dysphonia speech files. It reveals that the proposed novel algorithm on the Saarbruecken Voice Database can effectively been used for screening pathological voice recordings.
