ABSTRACT

Objective Taking three-dimensional (3D) motion capture system (MoCap) as the gold standard, a deep learning fusion model based on bi-lateral long short-term memory (BiLSTM) recurrent neural network and linear regression algorithm was developed to reduce system error of the Kinect sensor in lower limb kinematics measurement. Methods Ten healthy male college students were recruited for gait analysis. The 3D coordinates of the reflective markers and the lower limb joint centers were simultaneously collected using the MoCap system and the Kinect V2 sensor, respectively. The joint angles of lower limbs were calculated using the Cleveland clinic kinematic model and the Kinect kinematic model, respectively. The dataset was constructed using the MoCap system as the target and the angles via the Kinect system as the input. A BiLSTM network and a linear regression model for all lower limb angles were developed to obtain the refined angles. A leave-one subject-out cross-validation method was employed to study the performance of the models. The coefficient of multiple correlations (CMC) and root mean square error (RMSE) were used to investigate the similarity and the mean deviation between the joint angle waveforms via the MoCap and the Kinect system. ResultsIn comparison with the linear regression algorithm, the BiLSTM had better performance in the aspect of dealing highly nonlinear regression problems, especially for hip flexion/extension, hip adduction/abduction, and ankle dorsi/plantar flexion angles. The deep learning refined model significantly reduced the system error of Kinect. The mean RMSEs for all joint angles were mainly smaller than 10°, and the RMSEs of the hip joint were smaller than 5°. The joint angle waveforms presented very good similarity with the golden standard. The CMCs of joint angles were greater than 0.7 except for hip rotation angle. Conclusions The markerless gait analysis system based on deep learning fusion model developed in this study can accurately assess lower limb kinematics, joint mobility, walking functions, and has good prospect to be applied in clinical and home rehabilitation.

ABSTRACT

Lung transplantation recipients (LTx) were susceptible to severe acute respiratory syndrome-corona virus-2 (SARS-Cov-2) and suffered a higher mortality risk than healthy subjects. Here we aim to analyze whether it was appropriate or and valuable to maintain lung transplant programs in medical institutions accepting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. In this study, the clinical characteristics, laboratory testing and epidemiology survey results of 10 LTx recipients undergoing allograft lung transplantation surgeries in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University during the COVID-19 pandemic were collected. A web-based epidemiology questionnaire was used to collect the information of LTx recipients after discharge. Up to now, none of the LTx recipients or their family members get infected with SARS-CoV-2 during the novel coronavirus pandemic. In conclusion, under the premise of taking appropriate preventive measures during hospitalization and after discharge, the lung transplant program can be maintained in the medical institution that accepts patients with COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

The long noncoding CPS1 intronic transcript 1 (lncRNA CPS1-IT1) is a recently identified tumor suppressor in the lncRNA family of proteins. Whether this lncRNA plays any functional role in solid tumors remains largely unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the role of lncRNA CPS1-IT1 in human lung cancer. Expression of lncRNA CPS1-IT1 was initially assessed in human lung cancer and in a series of lung cancer cell lines. The effects of CPS1-IT1 overexpression on cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were examined in lung cancer cell lines A549 and 95D. It was found that lncRNA CPS1-IT1 was significantly lower in cancerous tissues than in noncancerous tissues. lncRNA CPS1-IT1 was differentially expressed in lung cancer cell lines and expressed the least in two highly invasive cell lines, A549 and 95D. Overexpression of CPS1-IT1 slowed down cell proliferation by 35.7% in A549 cells and 30.8% in 95D cells on the fifth day. Cell migration was inhibited by 59% in A549 cells and 48% in 95D cells, and cell invasion was suppressed by 60% in both cell lines after overexpression of CPS1-IT1. While cell apoptosis was induced, CPS1-IT1 overexpression promoted the activities of caspase 3 and caspase 9 without affecting that of caspase 8. These observations were suggestive of the tumor-suppressive role of lncRNA CPS1-IT1 in lung cancer. Our data suggest that CPS1-IT1 may be used as a biomarker for early diagnosis and therapeutic targets against lncRNA and may be promising in the treatment of lung cancer.

ABSTRACT

The development and compilation of Evidence-based Guidelines of Clinical Practice with Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Adult Bronchial Asthma are introduced from three aspects, named the guideline methodology, the guideline structure and the guideline content. Based on the acupuncture-moxibustion practice and clinical research, the evidence-based medicine method is adopted. During the development and compilation of the guideline, the characteristics and advantages of acupuncture and moxibustion are specially considered in the treatment of this disease; the latest optimum evidences at home and abroad, experts' experience and patients' value are closely integrated with each other. Additionally, the worldwide accepted assessments of evidence quality and the recommendation (GRADE system) are combined with the clinical evidences of the ancient and modern famous acupuncture-moxibustion experts, and the clinical research evidences are with the experts' consensus to the large extent. The purpose of the guideline is to provide the maximal guidance to the clinical physicians.

ABSTRACT

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of phylogenetically conserved, non-coding short RNAs, 19-22 nt in length which suppress protein expression through base-pairing with the 3'-untranslated region of target mRNAs. miRNAs have been found to participate in cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive, and high lethality fibrotic lung disease for which currently there is no effective treatment. Some miRNAs have been reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis. In this review, we discuss the role of miRNAs in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of IPF.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the risk factors for surgical site infection(SSI)following ankle joint and Pilon fracture surgery, and provide theoretical basis for the prevention of postoperative SSI.Methods Clinical data of pa-tients who underwent ankle joint and Pilon fracture surgery in a hospital between June 2005 to May 2013 were sur-veyed retrospectively, risk factors for SSI were analyzed. Results Among 356 patients with ankle joint and Pilon fracture surgery,22 developed 25 times of SSI,SSI rate was 6.18%,case infection rate was 7.02%.Univariate analysis showed that elderly patients (> 60 years old),history of diabetes,pre-operative calcaneal traction, perioperative irrational antimicrobial use, incision type, and long duration of operation (>3 h)were risk factors for SSI following ankle joint and Pilon fracture surgery (all P <0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the independent risk factors for SSI were incision type(OR,3.58[95%CI ,3.24-12.07]),history of diabetes (OR,2.75[95%CI ,1 .54-4.75]),duration of operation(OR,2.15[95%CI ,1 .32-3.64]),and patients age(OR, 1 .68[95%CI ,1 .25-2.37]).Conclusion Occurrence of SSI following ankle joint and Pilon fracture surgery is related to multiple factors, corresponding prevention and control measures should be taken to reduce the occurrence of SSI.

ABSTRACT

Objective. To evaluate the effect of acupuncture on endemic skeletal fluorosis (ESF) through the randomized controlled trial. Methods. Ninety-nine cases were divided into the treatment group (68 cases) and the control group (31 cases) randomly. Normal acupuncture combined with electroacupuncture was used in treatment group, while Caltrate with vitamin D tablets were applied in control group. After 2 courses, the VAS, urinary fluoride, serum calcium, and serum phosphate were evaluated before and after treatment. Results. Both of these two methods could relieve pain effectively and the effect of acupuncture was better (P < 0.05). In treatment group, the content of urinary fluoride after treatment was higher than before (P < 0.05), while the content of serum calcium and phosphate was lower (P < 0.05). Conclusion. The effect of acupuncture on relieving pain and promoting discharge of urinary fluoride is better than that of western medicine. Acupuncture can reduce the content of serum calcium and phosphate.
