ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics of children with 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in Putian City, and to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of children with 2019-nCoV infection. Methods:Clinical characteristics, laboratory examination, pulmonary compated tomography findings, treatment, and clinical outcomes of 78 children with 2019-nCoV infection who were admitted to Putian University Affiliated Hospital Medical Group Putian City Children′s Hospital from September 10 to October 20, 2021 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Results:Of the 78 children included in the analysis, two cases (2.6%) were asymptomatic infection, 36 cases (46.2%) were mild and 40 cases (51.3%) were ordinary. Five children were vaccinated against 2019-nCoV. The main symptoms were fever (24 cases), cough (13 cases), and fatigue (nine cases). A total of 34 cases (43.6%) had neutropenia, 29 cases (37.2%) had lymphopenia, 36 cases (46.2%) had D-dimer increase, 38 cases (48.7%) had hypokalemia, 27 cases (34.6%) had hypoglycemia and 11 cases (14.1%) had elevated creatine kinase isoenzyme. The neutropenia mostly occurred two to four days after admission. Fifty-six cases (71.8%) showed pulmonary computed tomography abnormalities. The cycle threshold of virus open reading frame ( ORF)1 ab was 20.90±7.15 and the cycle threshold of N gene was 20.29±7.78 in the first nucleic acid detection of 78 children after admission. The time of nucleic acid negative conversion of the 78 children was (20.73±6.94) days. IgM antibody titer in five vaccinated children was 0.36 (0.34, 4.89) and IgG antibody was 10.42 (0.50, 19.42). IgM antibody titer was 1.82 (1.66, 8.12) and IgG antibody was 76.63 (16.92, 79.84) in cases with disease duration ≥10 days. Nine children (11.5%) had resurgence of virus and were sent to the isolation site. All the other children were cured and discharged from hospital. Conclusions:Children with 2019-nCoV infection have mild clinical symptoms, and some children have lymphopenia, neutropenia, and D-dimer elevation during the course of the disease. The overall prognosis is good. The children vaccinated against 2019-nCoV have higher antibody levels.

ABSTRACT

Ephedra sinica Stapf polysaccharide is a pure acidic uniform polysaccharide extracted from the traditional Chinese medicine Ephedra sinica Stapf. In our past research, it was found that it has anti-inflammatory response and suppresses immunity. Therefore, in this experiment, mice were infected with FM1 virus, treated with Ephedra sinica Stapf polysaccharide, and metagene sequencing was used to sequence the mouse intestinal contents. As a result, we found that Ephedra sinica Stapf polysaccharide has obvious therapeutic effect on acute lung injury caused by H1N1. In the intestinal flora, the abundance of Lactobacillales and Bifidobacteriaceae increased significantly, and the metabolome increased significantly in the KEGG pathway. The intestinal flora may be an important target of Ephedra sinica Stapf polysaccharides metabolism against H1N1.

ABSTRACT

Cervical cancer is the second most common female reproductive system tumor in developing countries and ranks second among female cancer deaths worldwide. In recent years, with the continuous optimization and popularization of cervical cancer screening and preventive measures, the overall incidence rate of cervical cancer has decreased. But the incidence rate of cervical cancer in China is younger and differentiated. It continues to threaten the fertility, reproduction, mental health and life safety of women in China. In view of the current difficulties, precision medicine initiative (PMI) has opened a new chapter in the individualized prevention and treatment of cancer. Chinese medical workers need to learn from the beneficial results of international research organizations on early screening and prevention of cervical cancer, and explore the appropriate early screening and prevention strategies for cervical cancer in China.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect after laparoscopic sacral colpopexy (LSC) of combined transabdominal-transvaginal approach on stage Ⅳpelvic organs prolapse (POP). Methods The clinical data of 65 patients undergoing LSC of combined transabdominal-transvaginal approach from January 1st, 2010 to July 30th, 2017 due to POP stage Ⅳ in First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. Objective outcome was assessed by comparing preoperative and postoperative pelvic organ prolapse quantification (POP-Q) systems. Subjective effects were assessed by comparing pelvic floor distress inventory-short form 20 (PFDI-20), pelvic floor impact questionnaire short form (PFIQ-7), pelvic organ prolapse/urinary incontinence sexual questionnaire-12 (PISQ-12) and patient global impression of improvement (PGI-I). Results All 65 patients were successfully performed without any intraoperative complications. Fifty-three patients were followed in the clinic department and 12 were followed up by telephone. The follow-up duration was 6.1-80.3 months and the median follow-up duration was 24.5 months. The bleeding loss was 20-250 ml. Postoperative urethral catheter residence day was (2.5± 1.1) days, length of postoperative stay was (6.2±1.7) days. The postoperative POP-Q scores were compared with preoperative scores which had significantly improved except pb (all P<0.01). The objective cure rates of vaginal anterior wall, apical and posterior wall prolapse stageⅣwere 90% (47/52), 100% (23/23) and 95% (20/21).About PGI-I, except for 1 patient who chose"improvement", the other 64 patients (98%, 64/65) all chose"significant improvement". Furthermore, preoperative and postoperative PFDI-20, PFIQ-7, and PISQ-12 scores were all statistically significant (all P<0.01). Subjective efficacy was significant. Three cases (5%, 3/65) of postoperative fever occurred. Two cases (4%, 2/53) had mesh exposure. Six patients (11%, 6/53) had recurrence of postoperative prolapse. Five cases had recurrence of vaginal anterior wall prolapse and no reoperation was performed; 1 case was recurrence of posterior vaginal wall prolapse who diagnosed as vaginal posterior wall prolapse stage Ⅲ; no recurrence of apical prolapse. The rate of reoperation (including exposed-mesh removal and pelvic floor reconstruction surgery) was 5% (3/65). Conclusions The LSC of combined transabdominal-transvaginal approach has a high subjective efficacy rate. The objective cure rate in the case of apical prolapse stage Ⅳ is one hundred percent. The LSC of combined transabdominal-transvaginal approach has low mesh exposure, low postoperative infection and the reoperation rate, which is one of optional pelvic floor reconstruction surgery. However, there is still a risk of recurrence in patients with POP stageⅣwith severe bladder bulging.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy of alternative donor allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AD allo-HSCT) in the treatment of severe aplastic anemia (SAA).

METHODSRetrospective analysis of the clinical data of 19 SAA patients received AD allo-HSCT from May 2003 to December 2012. Of them, 12 received haploidentical HSCT (haplo-HSCT), 7 received unrelated donor transplantation. The conditioning regimen was CY+ATG+Flu±Ara-C±Bu/Mel, the GVHD preventing regimen was MMF+MTX+CSA/FK506; the median reinfusion quantity of CD34+ was 3.10(2.11-4.38)×10⁶/kg in allo-BMT and 4.90(2.08-6.88)×10⁶/kg in allo-PBSCT.

RESULTSHematopoiesis reconstitution was achieved in all 19 patients. Twelve patients developed acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD), and 7 developed chronic GVHD (cGVHD). Graft rejection (GR) was occurred in one patient. The median follow-up time was 13(3-115) months. Thirteen patients survived, and the prospective 5-year overall survival rate is (67.5±11.0)%.

CONCLUSIONAD allo-HSCT can be used as an alternative therapy for SAA patients without HLA matched sibling donor.
