ABSTRACT

A coverage prediction model helps network operators find coverage gaps, plan base station locations, evaluate quality of service, and build radio maps for spectrum sharing, interference management, localization, etc. Existing coverage prediction models rely on the height and transmission power of the base station, or the assistance of a path loss model. All of these increase the complexity of large-scale coverage predictions. In this paper, we propose a multi-modal model, DNN-SS, which combines a DNN (deep neural network) and SS (semantic segmentation) to perform coverage prediction for mobile networks. Firstly, DNN-SS filters the samples with a geospatial-temporal moving average filter algorithm, and then uses a DNN to extract numerical features. Secondly, a pre-trained model is used to perform semantic segmentation of satellite images of the measurement area. Thirdly, a DNN is used to extract features from the results after semantic segmentation to form environmental features. Finally, the prediction model is trained on the dataset consisting of numerical features and environmental features. The experimental results on campus show that for random location prediction, the model achieves a RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of 1.97 dB and a MAE (Mean Absolute Error) of 1.41 dB, which is an improvement of 10.86% and 10.2%, respectively, compared with existing models. For the prediction of a test area, the RMSE and MAE of the model are 4.32 dB and 3.45 dB, respectively, and the RMSE is only 0.22 dB lower than that of existing models. However, the DNN-SS model does not need the height, transmission power, and antenna gain of the base station, or a path loss model, which makes it more suitable for large-scale coverage prediction.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of anemia of varying severity among women of reproductive age, we conducted a nationwide, cross-sectional study between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019, including 4 184 547 nonpregnant women aged 18-49 years from all 31 provinces in the mainland of China. Anemia was defined as having hemoglobin concentration < 120.0 g/L and categorized as mild, moderate, and severe. Multivariate logistic models with cluster effect were used to explore the association of anemia and metabolic risk factors. The standardized prevalence of anemia and moderate and worse anemia among women of reproductive age in China was 15.8% (95% CI 15.1%-16.6%) and 6.6% (6.3%-7.0%), respectively. The prevalence of anemia and the proportion of moderate and worse anemia significantly increased with age. We also observed great geographic variations in the prevalence of anemia, with a high likelihood in south, central, and northwest China. Moderate and/or severe anemia was positively associated with overweight and obesity, diabetes, and impaired kidney function. In conclusion, anemia remains a significant challenge for women of reproductive age in China. Geographic variations and metabolic risk factors should be considered in the comprehensive and targeting strategy for anemia reduction.

ABSTRACT

Recent studies on oestroidean Diptera (Brachycera) are providing a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the evolutionary history of this remarkably diverse clade of holometabolous insects. The Oestroidea, which includes formidable pests such as various blowflies, botflies, and flesh flies that infest livestock, pets and humans, are mostly composed of beneficial species that act as scavengers or parasitoids on various pest insects. In our research, we used genomic methods to elucidate the phylogenetic position of Nesodexia corsicana Villeneuve, 1911 (Diptera: Calliphoridae), a mysterious oestroid species endemic to Corsica and characterized by distinctive morphological features that have puzzled taxonomists for years. Contrary to initial hypotheses, our results place Nesodexia Villeneuve, 1911 within the Calliphoridae subfamily Rhinophorinae, a small lineage of terrestrial isopod parasitoids. Through detailed morphological analysis of adults of both sexes and eggs, we uncovered significant insights consistent with our phylogenomic reconstruction. The unique morphological features of the species, coupled with its restricted and fragmented habitat, highlight its potential conservation importance. We delineated the area of occupancy for N. corsicana and assessed its "threatened" category using specific IUCN Red List criteria. In addition, we mapped the available habitat within its range and determined potential key biodiversity areas (KBA) triggered by N. corsicana. New potential KBAs are only partially covered by the Corsican Regional Park. Finally, we mapped the distribution of habitats on the island to assess the potential distribution of the species beyond its currently known geographic range.

ABSTRACT

In digital holographic microscopy (DHM), achieving large field of view (FOV) imaging while maintaining high resolution is critical for quantitative phase measurements of biological cell tissues and micro-nano structures. We present a quantitative phase image stitching guided by reconstructed intensity images in one-shot double FOV multiplexed DHM. Double FOVs are recorded simultaneously through frequency division multiplexing; intensity feature pairs are accurately extracted by multi-algorithm fusion; aberrations and non-common baselines are effectively corrected by preprocessing. Experimental results show that even if phase images have coherent noise, complex aberrations, low overlap rate and large size, this method can achieve high-quality phase stitching.

BACKGROUND: Acer truncatum Bunge is an economic, ecological, oil, and medicinal tree, and its kernel oil is rich in nervonic acid. It is crucial to explore the transcriptional expression patterns of genes affecting fatty acid synthesis to improve the quality of Acer truncatum oil. RESULTS: This study used the seeds from high fatty acid strain YQC and those from low fatty acid strain Y38 as the test materials. Specifically, we performed a comparative transcriptome analysis of Y38 seeds and YQC to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at two time points (seeds 30 days after the blooming period and 90 days after the blooming period). Compared with YQC_1 (YQC seeds at 30 days after the blooming period), a total of 3,618 DEGs were identified, including 2,333 up-regulated and 1,285 downregulated DEGs in Y38_1 (Y38 seeds at 30 days after blooming period). In the Y38_2 (Y38 seeds at 90 days after the blooming period) versus YQC_2 (YQC seeds at 90 days after the blooming period) comparison group, 9,340 genes were differentially expressed, including 5,422 up-regulated and 3,918 down-regulated genes. The number of DEGs in Y38 compared to YQC was significantly higher in the late stages of seed development. Gene functional enrichment analyses showed that the DEGs were mainly involved in the fatty acid biosynthesis pathway. And two fatty acid synthesis-related genes and seven nervonic acid synthesis-related genes were validated by qRT-PCR. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides a basis for further research on biosynthesizing fatty acids and nervonic acidnervonic acids in A. truncatum seeds.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Reintroduction represents an effective strategy for the conservation of endangered wildlife, yet it might inadvertently impact the native ecosystems. This investigation assesses the impact of reintroducing endangered Przewalski's horses into the desert grassland ecosystem of the Kalamaili Nature Reserve (KNR), particularly its effect on the spatial distribution of ticks. In a 25 km2 core area of Przewalski's horse distribution, we set up 441 tick sampling sites across diverse habitats, including water sources, donkey trails, and grasslands, recording horse feces and characteristics to analyze the occurrence rate of ticks. Additionally, we gathered the data of 669 fresh feces of horses. To evaluate the spatial dynamics between these feces and ticks, we used methods such as Fixed Kernel Estimation (FKE), Moran's I spatial autocorrelation index, and Generalized Linear Models (GLM). RESULTS: The dominant species of ticks collected in the core area were adult Hyalomma asiaticum (91.36%). Their occurrence rate was higher near donkey trails (65.99%) and water sources (55.81%), particularly in areas with the fresh feces of Przewalski's horses. The ticks' three risk areas, as defined by FKE, showed significant overlap and positive correlation with the distribution of Przewalski's horses, with respective overlap rates being 90.25% in high risk, 33.79% in medium risk, and 23.09% in low risk areas. Moran's I analysis revealed a clustering trend of the fresh feces of Przewalski's horses in these areas. The GLM confirmed a positive correlation between the distribution of H. asiaticum and the presence of horse fresh feces, alongside a negative correlation with the proximity to water sources and donkey trails. CONCLUSIONS: This study reveals the strong spatial correlation between Przewalski's horses and H. asiaticum in desert grasslands, underlining the need to consider interspecific interactions in wildlife reintroductions. The findings are crucial for shaping effective strategies of wildlife conservation and maintaining ecological balance.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: In addition to functioning as a precise monitoring mechanism in cell cycle, the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) is reported to be involved in regulating multiple metabolic processes by facilitating the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of key enzymes. Fatty acid oxidation is a metabolic pathway utilized by tumor cells that is crucial for malignant progression; however, its association with APC/C remains to be explored. METHODS: Cell cycle synchronization, immunoblotting, and propidium iodide staining were performed to investigate the carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 C (CPT1C) expression manner. Proximity ligation assay and co-immunoprecipitation were performed to detect interactions between CPT1C and APC/C. Flow cytometry, 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2 H-tetrazolium, inner salt (MTS) assays, cell-scratch assays, and transwell assays and xenograft transplantation assays were performed to investigate the role of CPT1C in tumor progression in vitro and in vivo. Immunohistochemistry was performed on tumor tissue microarray to evaluate the expression levels of CPT1C and explore its potential clinical value. RESULTS: We identified CPT1C as a novel APC/C substrate. CPT1C protein levels exhibited cell cycle-dependent fluctuations, peaking at the G1/S boundary. Elevated CPT1C accelerated the G1/S transition, facilitating tumor cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, CPT1C enhanced fatty acid utilization, upregulated ATP levels, and decreased reactive oxygen species levels, thereby favoring cell survival in a harsh metabolic environment. Clinically, high CPT1C expression correlated with poor survival in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, our results revealed a novel interplay between fatty acid utilization and cell cycle machinery in tumor cells. Additionally, CPT1C promoted tumor cell proliferation and survival by augmenting cellular ATP levels and preserving redox homeostasis, particularly under metabolic stress. Therefore, CPT1C could be an independent prognostic indicator in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

Background: When marathon runners break the 2-h barrier at the finishing line, it attracts global attention. This study is aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of publications in the field of marathon running, analyze relevant research contributors, and visualize the historical trends of marathon performance research over the past 15 years. Methods: On 8 December 2023, we extracted high-quality publication data from the Web of Science Core Collection spanning from 1 January 2009 to 30 November 2023. We conducted bibliometric analysis and research history visualization using the R language packages biblioshiny, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Results: A total of 1,057 studies were published by 3,947 authors from 1,566 institutions across 63 countries/regions. USA has the highest publication and citation volume, while, the University of Zurich being the most prolific research institution. Keywords analysis revealed several hotspots in marathon research over the past 3 years: (1) physiology of the elite marathon runners, (2) elite marathon training intensity and pacing strategies, (3) nutritional strategies for elite marathon runners, (4) age and sex differences in marathon performance, (5) recovery of inflammatory response and muscle damage. Conclusion: This study presents the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of marathon performance research over the past 15 years. It unveils the key contributors to marathon performance research, visually represents the historical developments in the field, and highlights the recent topical frontiers. The findings of this study will guide future research by identifying potential hotspots and frontiers.

ABSTRACT

In this study, vanadium carbide (VC) was used as the raw material to synthesize PDA-functionalized VC (P-VC). VC and P-VC were added as nanoreinforced materials to the Ni-W-B coating. The effects of the two nanomaterials on the morphology, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of the Ni-W-B coatings were investigated and compared. The experimental results show that the surface of the Ni-W-B/P-VC coating is denser and more uniform than that of the Ni-W-B and Ni-W-B/VC coatings, and there are no obvious defects on the surface. According to the hardness test, the Ni-W-B/P-VC coating reaches the highest microhardness of 887.1 HV. According to the friction and wear tests, the Ni-W-B/P-VC coating has the shallowest scratches, the lowest average friction coefficient (COF = 0.274), and the lowest wear rate (9.578 × 10-8 mm2/N). The corrosion resistance is the best, the corrosion rate is 0.0456 mm/y, and the impedance value Rt reaches 14,501 Ω·cm2.

BACKGROUND: High-grade B-cell lymphoma (HGBL) is an unusual malignancy that includes myelocytomatosis viral oncogene (MYC), B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2), and/or BCL-6 rearrangements, termed double-hit or triple-hit lymphomas, and HGBL-not otherwise specific (HGBL-NOS), which are morphologically characteristic of HGBL but lack MYC, BCL-2, or BCL-6 rearrangements. HGBL is partially transformed by follicular lymphoma and other indolent lymphoma, with few cases of marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) transformation. HGBL often has a poor prognosis and intensive therapy is currently mainly advocated, but there is no good treatment for these patients who cannot tolerate chemotherapy. CASE SUMMARY: We reported a case of MZL transformed into HGBL-NOS with TP53 mutation and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase expression. Gene analysis revealed the gene expression profile was identical in the pre- and post-transformed tissues, suggesting that the two diseases are homologous, not secondary tumors. The chemotherapy was ineffective and the side effect was severe, so we tried combination therapy including venetoclax and obinutuzumab. The patient tolerated treatment well, and reached partial response. The patient had recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma and died of multifunctional organ failure. He survived for 12 months after diagnosis. CONCLUSION: Venetoclax combined with obinutuzumab might improve the survival in some HGBL patients, who are unsuitable for chemotherapy.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a global pandemic since its onset in 2019, and the development of effective vaccines for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) to induce potent and long-lasting immunity remains a priority. Herein, we prepared two Lactobacillus exopolysaccharide (EPS) nanoparticle adjuvants (NPs 7-4 and NPs 8-2) that were constructed by using sulfation-modified EPS and quaternization-modified chitosan. These two NPs displayed a spherical morphology with sizes of 39 and 47 nm. Furthermore, the zeta potentials of NPs 7-4 and NPs 8-2 were 50.40 and 44.40 mV, respectively. In vitro assays demonstrated that NPs could effectively adsorb antigenic proteins and exhibited a sustained release effect. Mouse immunization tests showed that the NPs induced the expression of cytokines and chemokines at the injection site and promoted the uptake of antigenic proteins by macrophages. Mechanically, the NPs upregulated the expression of pattern recognition receptors (toll-like receptors and nod-like receptors) and activated the immune response of T cells and the production of neutralizing antibodies. In addition, the NP adjuvants had favorable immune-enhancing effects in cats, which are of great significance for controlling the trans-host transmission and re-endemicity of SARS-CoV-2. Overall, we demonstrated that NP-adjuvanted SARS-CoV-2 receptor binding domain proteins could induce robust specific humoral and cellular immunity.

ABSTRACT

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is witnessing a global surge; however, it still lacks effective pharmacological interventions. Fucoxanthin, a natural bioactive metabolite derived from marine brown algae, exhibits promising pharmacological functions, particularly in ameliorating metabolic disorders. However, the mechanisms underlying its therapeutic efficacy in addressing MAFLD remain elusive. Our present findings indicated that fucoxanthin significantly alleviated palmitic acid (PA)-induced hepatic lipid deposition in vitro and obesity-induced hepatic steatosis in ob/ob mice. Moreover, at both the protein and transcriptional levels, fucoxanthin effectively increased the expression of PPARα and CPT1 (involved in fatty acid oxidation) and suppressed FASN and SREBP1c (associated with lipogenesis) in both PA-induced HepG2 cells and hepatic tissues in ob/ob mice. This modulation was accompanied by the activation of AMPK. The capacity of fucoxanthin to improve hepatic lipid deposition was significantly attenuated when utilizing the AMPK inhibitor or siRNA-mediated AMPK silencing. Mechanistically, fucoxanthin activates AMPK, subsequently regulating the KEAP1/Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway to exert antioxidative effects and stimulating the PGC1α/NRF1 axis to enhance mitochondrial biogenesis. These collective actions contribute to fucoxanthin's amelioration of hepatic steatosis induced by metabolic perturbations. These findings offer valuable insights into the prospective utilization of fucoxanthin as a therapeutic strategy for managing MAFLD.

ABSTRACT

In satellite remote sensing (SRS), there is a demand for large-power microwave components. A Butler matrix is essential to a transmitting antenna array in SRS. This article illustrates the electrical and mechanical design, simulation, and test results of a large-power planar beamforming network for SRS at C-band. It is a 4 × 4 Butler matrix based on square coaxial lines. Short-ended stubs are used in the Butler matrix to broaden its bandwidth by 10%, support inner conductors, and enhance heat transfer in vacuum environments. The simulation results are consistent with the measured results. The reflection coefficient is less than -18 dB, and the isolation is more than 23 dB from 3.8 GHz to 4.2 GHz. The insertion losses are less than 0.6 dB, and the phase errors are better than ±6°. The measured peak microwave power of the proposed Butler matrix is 9 kW. Its size is 440 × 400 × 40 mm3. The proposed Butler matrix beamforming network can be applied to SRS systems.

Hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HHS), caused by fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4), has been widely spread across China, resulting in great financial losses in the poultry industry. Therefore, efficient vaccines against this disease urgently need to be developed. In our study, the fiber-2 and penton base proteins derived from the FAdV-4 JS strain were expressed in a prokaryotic system (E. coli) in a soluble form. Then, the efficacy of the two recombinant proteins formulated with cheap and widely used adjuvants (Marcol™ 52 white oil) were respectively tested, and the minimum immune doses and safety of the above proteins were also determined. It was indicated that the fiber-2 (20 µg/bird, 200 µg/bird) and penton base (200 µg/bird) could provide complete protection against the highly pathogenic FAdV-4 and suppress its replication and shedding. Unfortunately, only the fiber-2 protein could induce complete protection (10/10) at a low dose (10 µg/bird). In addition, we confirmed that the fiber-2 subunit vaccine formulated with oil adjuvants was safe for vaccinated chickens. Conclusively, all of our results suggest that we successfully prepared an efficient and cheap fiber-2 subunit vaccine with few side effects.

Gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma (GEA) is an uncommon form of uterine cervical adenocarcinoma with an unfavorable prognosis. The tumor consists of glands exhibiting a morphological resemblance to gastric cells and occasionally manifests features akin to pancreaticobiliary mucinous adenocarcinoma. GEA differs from the typical cervical cancer, particularly in its lack of association with the human papillomavirus. Immunophenotypic analysis suggests intestinal differentiation. The present study reports two cases of GEA occurring in postmenopausal individuals who were diagnosed in Lishui Central Hospital (Lishui, China) between January 2015 and January 2023. Microscopic examination revealed cysts lined with mucinous cells within the tumors. Immunohistochemical assays confirmed the positivity of the tumors for cytokeratin 7, mucin (MUC)5AC, and mutant tumor protein p53, while the results were negative for tumor suppressor p16, and in one case for paired box protein 8, consistent with characteristics of mucinous adenocarcinoma originating from the gastrointestinal tract. Programmed death-ligand 1 expression was also negative. The proto-oncogene K-ras was identified using amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction. Both cases were negative for mutations in codons 12 and 13 of exon 2, codon 61 of exon 3 and codon 146 of exon 4, but were positive for wild-type K-ras. Clinical follow-up revealed a potential association between histopathological features and resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. The infrequency of this tumor type may contribute to diagnostic challenges.

The Tachinidae is one of the most speciose families in Diptera, and the exclusively parasitoid species play an important role in regulating populations of many herbivorous insects in ecosystems, including many agricultural pests. To better comprehend the characteristics and evolution of the mitochondrial genome for the Tachinidae, we are adding a massive amount of new molecular data by assembling the mitogenomes for 71 genera and 135 species from all four tachinid subfamilies through next-generation sequencing, and we are presenting the most comprehensive mitogenomic phylogenetic analysis of this family so far. Extensive rearrangements observed in the mitogenome of Admontia podomyia (Exoristinae) are unique for the entire suborder Cyclorrhapha. The rearrangement pattern suggests that the process involved a tandem duplication of the complete mitogenome, followed by both random and nonrandom loss of one copy of each gene. Additionally, five minor mitogenome rearrangements are discovered and described in three subfamilies. We present the largest species-level phylogenetic hypothesis for Tachinidae to date, based on mitogenomes of 152 species of Tachinidae, representing all four subfamilies and with five non-tachinid outgroups. Our analyses support the monophyly of the Tachinidae and most tribes and genera were recovered with good support, but the higher-level phylogenetic relationships within Tachinidae were poorly resolved, indicating that mitogenome data alone are not enough to unambiguously resolve the deeper phylogenetic relationships within Tachinidae.

ABSTRACT

The OTSU method (OTSU) is considered to be the best algorithm for threshold selection in image segmentation. The algorithm is easy to calculate and not affected by image brightness and contrast, so it is widely used in the field of digital image processing. Due to the slow running speed and large storage space of the algorithm on the traditional electronic computer, this research makes use of the advantages of the ternary optical computer (TOC), such as numerous data bits and the reconfigurable processor. Through the analysis of the OTSU algorithm, we find the part of the OTSU algorithm that can be calculated in parallel, and put forward a parallel OTSU algorithm based on TOC. The algorithm first uses a classifier to classify the number of pixels. By reconstructing the MSD adder and multiplier, the inter-class variance under each gray value is calculated in parallel, and the maximum value is selected by comparing the inter-class variance. The corresponding threshold is the best segmentation threshold. By analyzing the clock cycle and data bit resources of the algorithm, and then conducting a comparative analysis and experimental verification, we found that the computational speed of TOC increased by approximately 12% when handling images with the same amount of computation.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Airway epithelial cells epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) and lung fibroblasts extracellular matrix (ECM) production are the key steps in airway remodeling. Our previous study demonstrated that miR-143-3p has the ability to impede airway smooth muscle cell proliferation and ECM deposition. However, the function of miR-143-3p in airway epithelial cells and lung fibroblasts remains unclear. METHODS: Cell viability was determined using MTT method, while cell migration was evaluated through scratch assay. EMT and ECM proteins were detected by western blot, RT-qPCR, and ELISA. To determine the level of miR-143-3p m6A methylation, we employed the meRIP-qPCR assay. Additionally, the binding of miR-143-3p with Smad3 were projected by bioinformatics and validated by dual luciferase reporter assays. RESULTS: It was discovered that the expression of miR-143-3p were lower in both asthma patients and TGF-ß1-treated human bronchial epithelial 16HBE cells and human lung fibroblast HPF cells. Upregulation of miR-143-3p restrained 16HBE cell migration, and decreased EMT mesenchymal markers and increased epithelial markers. And upregulation of miR-143-3p impaired cell viability and ECM protein production in HPF cells. Mechanistically, interfering with METTL3 resulted in decreased m6A modification of miR-143-3p and led to lower levels of miR-143-3p. Moreover, miR-143-3p were verified to directly target and downregulate Smad3. Upregulation of Smad3 attenuated the effects of miR-143-3p on cell EMT and ECM production. CONCLUSION: MiR-143-3p inhibits airway epithelial cell EMT as well as lung fibroblast ECM production by downregulating Smad3. Therefore, miR-143-3p may be a promising target to reduce airway remodeling in asthma.

ABSTRACT

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are mesenchymal cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME). CAFs are the most abundant cellular components in the TME of solid tumors. They affect the progression and course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in various types of tumors including colorectal cancer (CRC). CAFs can promote tumor proliferation, invasion, and metastasis; protect tumor cells from immune surveillance; and resist tumor cell apoptosis caused by chemotherapy, resulting in drug resistance to chemotherapy. In recent years, researchers have become increasingly interested CAF functions and have conducted extensive research. However, compared to other types of malignancies, our understanding of the interaction between CRC cells and CAFs remains limited. Therefore, we searched the relevant literature published in the past 10 years, and reviewed the origin, biological characteristics, heterogeneity, role in the TME, and potential therapeutic targets of CAFs, to aid future research on CAFs and tumors.

Forest musk deer (Moschus berezovskii) are endangered ruminants whose adult males secrete musk. China has been breeding forest musk deer artificially since the 1950s in an effort to restore wild populations, with Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces as the two main sites for captive breeding. Genetic diversity is a significant indicator that determines the long-term viability and status of a population, particularly for species at risk of extinction. In this study, we analyzed the current genetic makeup of seven captive forest musk deer populations in the Shaanxi province, using the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control region (CR) as the molecular marker. We sequenced 604 bp of mtDNA CR, with an average content of A+T higher than G+C. We observed 111 variable sites and 39 different haplotypes from 338 sequences. The nucleotide diversity (Pi) and haplotype diversity (Hd) were 0.02887 and 0.908, respectively. Genetic differentiation between these populations was not significant, and the populations might not have experienced rapid growth. By combining our sequences with previous ones, we identified 65 unique haplotypes with 26 rare haplotypes and estimated a total of 90 haplotypes in Shaanxi province captive populations. The Shaanxi province and Sichuan province obtained 88 haplotypes, the haplotypes from the two populations were mixed together, and the two populations showed moderate genetic differentiation. Our findings suggested that captive forest musk deer populations in the Shaanxi province had high genetic diversity, with a rich founder population of about 90 maternal lines. Additionally, managers could develop genetic management plans for forest musk deer based on the haplotype database. Overall, our study will provide insights and guidelines for the conservation of genetic diversity in captive forest musk deer populations in the Shaanxi province.
