ABSTRACT

Based on the professional characteristics and nature of ophthalmology special examination and combined with teaching requirements for optometry foreign students, we developed a targeted teaching plan and practiced the classification teaching. Using guided trilogy teaching, we guided students to identify and analyze the similarities and differences between the image and the special examination function exami-nation results, emphasizing the cultivation of clinical ophthalmology diagnostic thinking of students, and we obtained good teaching and practice effect.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the mutifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) characteristics of rod and cone cells in patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and to evaluate the function of photosensory cell. Methods The mfERG recording technique for rod cell in eight normal subjects (eight eyes) were established and the influence of different brightness lightstimulus in P1 wave amplitude were analyzed. The cone and rod cells mfERG of 38 eyes in 19 patients were recorded and then calculated positive ratio from local signal-noise ratio. The average visual acuity and P1 wave amplitude density of cone mtERG in different types were compared and statistically analyzed.Meanwhile, the changes in P1 wave amplitude of cone and rod mfERG in four quadrants also compared and analyzed. Results Rod cell mfERG in normal subjects can be recorded stably by using blue flashes with low light intensity as 0.04 cd/m~2.In patients with RP,the cone and rod cells mfERG can he detectd 65.790./00 and 10.51% respectively.P1 wave amplitude density in type I of cone cell mfERG was significantly higher than that in type Ⅱ (t=5.21,P=0.000).There were no differences in average visual acuity (t=1.15,P=0.612).P1 wave amplitude density in type Ⅰ was negatively related to IogMAR visual acuity (r=-0.48,P=0.04 ).The comparison of rod and cone cells mfERG in local wave characteristics showed that P_1 wave amplitude densities had spatial relationship in each area. Conclusions The results suggested highly variable central responses in cone cell in RP patients, higher positive recorded ratio in cone cell than rod cell and spatial correspondence between the function of reserved cone and rod cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPGs) degradation induced by chondroitinase ABC (ChABC) on the rat flash visual evoked potential (F-VEP) around the end of the critical period of visual development. Methods A total of 30 Long Evans rats were randomly divided into 3 groups according to their age of 14,21 and 35 d.Then in each group,5 animals served as CSPGs degradation model induced by ChABC microinjection into 5 sites of the rat cortex [750 nL (48 U/ml) for 1 site, for 2 times at a 3-day interval],and the other 5 rats served as normal control and received normal saline microinjection.Immunofluorescence microscopy and laser scanning confocal microscopy were used to determine the establishment of animal model.F-VEPs were evaluated in 7 d after first microinjection. Results In the normal rats, the latency of F-VEP main wave became shorter with the increase of their age,the number was [(63.5?10.1),(50.8?6.4),(44.9?6.3) ms,P

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the changes of central corneal thickness(CCT) and corneal endothelium morphology in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods The CCT and corneal endothelium morphology in 60 diabetic patients(60 eyes) and 60 healthy volunteers(60 eyes) as the age and gender matched control group were examined by pachymetry and non contact specular microscopy. Stepwise regression analysis was performed to assess the effects of systemic factors on CCT and the corneal endothelial cell density of diabetic patients. Results Compared with that in the control group, the endothelial cell density decreased, and the coefficient of variation of cell area increased significantly( P 0 05). Compared to patients with non proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR), the patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR) had a significant reduction in cell density( P
