ABSTRACT

Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) is an essential cofactor for dopamine and serotonin synthesis in monoaminergic neurons, phenylalanine metabolism in hepatocytes, and nitric oxide synthesis in endothelial and immune cells. BH4 is consumed as a cofactor or is readily oxidized by autooxidation. Quinonoid dihydropteridine reductase (QDPR) is an enzyme that reduces quinonoid dihydrobiopterin (qBH2) back to BH4, and we have previously demonstrated the significance of QDPR in maintaining BH4 in vivo using Qdpr-KO mice. In addition to the levels of BH4 in the cells, the ratios of oxidized to reduced forms of BH4 are supposed to be important for regulating nitric oxide synthase (NOS) via the so-called uncoupling of NOS. However, previous studies were limited due to the absence of specific and high-affinity inhibitors against QDPR. Here, we performed a high-throughput screening for a QDPR inhibitor and identified Compound 9b with an IC50 of 0.72 µM. To understand the inhibition mechanism, we performed kinetic analyses and molecular dynamics simulations. Treatment with 9b combined with methotrexate (MTX), an inhibitor of another BH4-reducing enzyme, dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), significantly oxidized intracellular redox states in HepG2, Jurkat, SH-SY5Y, and PC12D cells. Collectively, these findings suggest that 9b may enhance the anticancer and anti-autoimmune effects of MTX.

ABSTRACT

Residents themselves are responsible for controlling their living environment, and their perception of coldness is important to protect their health. Although previous studies examined the association between perceived coldness and indoor temperature, they did not consider the spatial-temporal differences in indoor temperatures. This study, conducted in Japan, measured indoor temperatures in 1,553 houses across several rooms (living room, changing room, and bedroom) and heights (at 1 m above the floor and near the floor) over two weeks and obtained the perceived coldness from 2,793 participants during winter. Results showed substantial temperature differences between rooms (horizontal differences): 3.8 °C between living and changing rooms, and 4.1 °C between living rooms and bedrooms. The average vertical and diel (evening-morning) temperature differences in the living room were 3.1 °C and 3.0 °C, respectively. Regional analysis revealed that the Tohoku region experienced larger horizontal and diel indoor temperature differences, primarily due to its practice of intermittent and partial heating in living rooms only, in contrast to Hokkaido's approach of heating the entire house continuously. Despite Hokkaido's comprehensive heating system, it exhibited the largest vertical temperature difference of 5.1 °C in living rooms, highlighting the insufficiency of heating alone and the necessity for enhanced thermal insulation. The multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that average temperatures and vertical temperature differences were associated with perceived coldness, while horizontal and diel differences did not show a significant association, further emphasizing the importance of improved thermal insulation. Moreover, factors like individual attributes (age and gender), and lifestyle choices (meal quantity, exercise habits, alcohol consumption, and clothing amount) were significantly associated with coldness perception. Notably, older adults were less likely to perceive coldness but more vulnerable to the health impacts of low temperatures, underscoring the necessity of not solely relying on human perception for indoor temperature management to protect cold-related health problems.

ABSTRACT

AIM: In Japan, an additional system for patients with suspected or diagnosed dementia during hospitalization for physical illness began in 2016. We examined the clinical characteristics of older patients with suspected or diagnosed dementia during hospitalization. METHODS: The study participants consisted of 569 patients. Current age, sex, comorbidities, causative disease for admission, body mass index (BMI), blood tests, environment before admission, prescription history before admission and rate of delirium were examined. Simple regression analysis for high-frequency diseases was carried out with the respective risk factors as independent variables. Multiple regression analysis was then carried out. RESULTS: Infection had the highest frequency in the causative diseases for admission. A total of 48% of patients had delirium during hospitalization. The delirium group had the highest frequency of being at home. In the infection group, BMI and serum albumin were lower in the non-infection group (BMI 19.0 ± 3.7 vs 20.4 ± 4.1; P < 0.001, albumin 2.1 ± 0.7 vs 3.3 ± 0.6 g/dL; P < 0.001 respectively). White blood cell count and C-reactive protein were higher than in the non-infection group, respectively (white blood cell count 11181.4 ± 6533.3 vs 8765.8 ± 111 424.3/µL; P = 0.007, C-reactive protein 8.6 ± 8.6 vs 3.0 ± 5.2 mg/dL; P < 0.001 respectively). Using independent factors associated with infection, multiple regression analysis was performed. BMI (P = 0.013), serum albumin (P < 0.001) and nursing home care before admission (P < 0.001) had significant correlations. CONCLUSIONS: Assessment of delirium and the environment before admission of older patients with suspected or diagnosed dementia when hospitalized are necessary. Furthermore, evaluation of nutrition might also contribute to reducing deterioration due to physical illness. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2024; 24: 641-645.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: A recent large real-world study conducted in the United States reported the effectiveness of palbociclib plus aromatase inhibitor in HR+/HER2- advanced breast cancer (ABC). However, local clinical practice and available medical treatment can vary between Japan and Western countries. Thus, it is important to investigate Japanese real-world data. This observational, multicenter study (NCT05399329) reports the interim analysis of effectiveness of palbociclib plus ET as first-line or second-line treatment for HR+/HER2- ABC by estimating real-world progression-free survival (rwPFS) and overall survival (OS) in Japanese routine clinical practice. METHODS: Real-world clinical outcomes and treatment patterns of palbociclib plus ET were captured using a medical record review of patients diagnosed with HR+/HER2- ABC who had received palbociclib plus ET in the first-line or second-line treatment across 20 sites in Japan. The primary endpoint was rwPFS; secondary endpoints were OS, real-world overall response rate, real-world clinical benefit rate, and chemotherapy-free survival. RESULTS: Of the 677 eligible patients, 420 and 257 patients, respectively, had received palbociclib with ET as first-line and second-line treatments. Median rwPFS (95% confidence interval) was 24.5 months (19.9-29.4) for first-line and 14.5 months (10.2-19.0) for second-line treatment groups. Median OS was not reached in the first-line group and was 46.7 months (38.8-not estimated) for the second-line group. The 36-month OS rates for de novo metastasis, treatment-free interval (TFI) ≥ 12 months, and TFI < 12 months were 80.2% (69.1-87.7), 82.0% (70.7-89.3), and 66.0% (57.9-72.9), respectively. CONCLUSION: The addition of palbociclib to ET was effective for treating HR+/HER2- ABC in Japanese routine clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Fungal contamination in the indoor air of prefabricated temporary houses at the site of the Great East Japan Earthquake revealed extremely high levels compared to those found in conventional residences. We experimentally investigated fungal growth levels on different interior materials to support fungal overgrowth in prefabricated temporary houses. Three species each of allergenic fungi and invasive fungi observed in temporary housing were selected for inoculation tests with various interior materials. The experiments with fungal inoculation were conducted in conformance with standards for industrial products described in the Japanese" JIS Z 2911:2018 Methods of test for fungus resistance" with small modifications. After incubation, visual and stereomicroscopic assessments were performed to determine fungal growth levels. The viability of the fungi varied according to the interior material type. Our findings demonstrate the importance of antifungal measures in indoor environments and the need for additional research on the growth levels of fungal species on various interior materials.

ABSTRACT

Background: Because dementia is a long-term condition, the appropriate involvement of health-care professionals is considered important. However, little is known about the factors associated with changes in family caregiver burden. Objective: To clarify changes in family caregiver burden and associated factors during follow-up at a memory clinic. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, enrolling 495 pairs of patients with dementia or mild cognitive impairment and their family caregivers. A total of 120 pairs completed the second evaluation. The caregiver burden was assessed using the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). Data at the initial visit and after an average follow-up of about 2 years were compared and analyzed. Results: At initial visit, the patients' mean age, Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and ZBI scores were 78.6±5.6 years, 23.3±3.5, and 22.6±16.7, respectively. At follow-up, MMSE scores decreased (21.4±4.5, p < 0.001), but ZBI scores remained similar (22.5±13.6). When the difference in ZBI scores between the two time points was defined as ΔZBI, and the related factors were analyzed by multiple regression analysis, ZBI scores at the initial visit, start of psychotropic drug, and decrease of neuropsychiatric symptoms were identified as significant factors (p < 0.001, p = 0.003, p < 0.001, respectively). A significant negative correlation was found between ZBI scores at the initial visit and ΔZBI (r = -0.588, p < 0.001). Conclusions: These findings suggest the importance of assessing changes in the burden experienced by family caregivers during the disease follow-up.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a dyadic outpatient rehabilitation program focused on improving the real-life daily activities of patients with mild cognitive impairments or dementia and their caregivers. Design: Retrospective study. Subjects: Eight patients with mild cognitive impairments or dementia and their caregivers. Methods: The rehabilitation program comprised eight 1-hour sessions by occupational therapists with patients and his/her caregivers. Patients were assessed for motor function, cognitive function, and quality of life, and their caregivers were assessed for depression and caregiver burden. Participants were assessed at pre-program and post-program, and 3-month follow-up. Results: The scores of caregiver-assessed Quality of life in Alzheimer's disease scale in patients significantly improved at post-program (median [interquartile range], 30.0 [7.0]) compared with pre-program (27.0 [2.8], effect size = 0.77, p = 0.029). In caregivers, the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview scores decreased significantly at post-program (16.5 [13.0]) compared with pre-program (22.0 [17.5], effect size = 0.72, p = 0.042). There were no significant differences in other assessments. Conclusions: The rehabilitation program focused on real daily activities and demonstrated to improve patients' quality of life and caregivers' depression and caring burden through patient-caregiver interaction. Future enhanced follow-up systems are warranted.

Background: As the number of patients with dementia increases, so do the social costs. In recent years, attempts have been made to reduce risk to be dementia and treat it from the early stages of the disease, making it important to estimate the costs of the early stages. Objective: To estimate the medical and social costs of the early stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD), which include mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to AD and mild AD. Methods: Questionnaires were used to obtain basic information (e.g., age, cognitive function) and medical costs, social care costs, family caregiver medical costs, and family caregiver informal care costs from patients with MCI due to AD or mild AD who were attending a memory clinic. A comparison was then conducted between these two groups. Results: Patients with mild AD had higher total costs, patient medical costs, patient social care costs, and family caregiver informal care costs than did patients with MCI; however, only patient medical costs were significantly different (p = 0.022). A detailed analysis of patient medical costs revealed that anti-dementia drug treatment costs were significantly higher in patients with mild AD (p <  0.001). Conclusion: Compared with patients with mild AD, those with MCI may have lower patient and family caregiver costs. As it is important to reduce social costs through risk reduction and therapeutic interventions from the early stages of AD, the present findings could help estimate the social costs and verify the cost-effectiveness of early interventions for AD.

Aging is known as one of the important risk factors for coronary artery disease (CAD). We explore whether an association of metabolic syndrome (Met-S) increases subclinical atherosclerosis among elderly diabetic subjects estimating the plaque score (PS) of the carotid artery. A total of 187 subjects were enrolled. Middle-aged and older groups were divided into two groups. T-test and Chi-square test were also employed. Simple regression analysis for the PS was performed with respective risk factors as independent variables. After selection of independent variables, multiple regression analysis was performed to estimated the association of PS and dependent variable of the study. There were significant differences in body mass index (BMI) (p < .001), HbA1c (p < .01), TG (p < .05), and PS (p < .001) . Multiple regression analysis in middle-aged subjects showed that the determinant of PS were age (p < .001), BMI (p = .006), Met-S (p = .004), and hs-CRP (p = .019). Multiple regression analysis in older subjects showed that neither age nor Met-S was included as significant determinant of PS. An association of Met-S is an important factor for progression of subclinical atherosclerosis, but it cannot be a significant determinant of PS if the subjects are limited within older group.

ABSTRACT

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by dopaminergic (DAergic) neuronal loss in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc), resulting from α-synuclein (αSyn) toxicity. We previously reported that αSyn oligomerization and toxicity are regulated by the fatty-acid binding protein 3 (FABP3), and the therapeutic effects of the FABP3 ligand, MF1, was successfully demonstrated in PD models. Here, we developed a novel and potent ligand, HY-11-9, which has a higher affinity for FABP3 (Kd = 11.7 ± 8.8) than MF1 (Kd = 302.8 ± 130.3). We also investigated whether the FABP3 ligand can ameliorate neuropathological deterioration after the onset of disease in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced Parkinsonism. Motor deficits were observed two weeks after MPTP treatment. Notably, oral administration of HY-11-9 (0.03 mg/kg) improved motor deficits in both beam-walking and rotarod tasks, whereas MF1 failed to improve the motor deficits in both tasks. Consistent with the behavioral tasks, HY-11-9 recovered dopamine neurons from MPTP toxicity in the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental areas. Furthermore, HY-11-9 reduced the accumulation of phosphorylated-serine129-α-synuclein (pS129-αSyn) and colocalization with FABP3 in tyrosine hydroxylase (TH)-positive DA neurons in the PD mouse model. Overall, HY-11-9 significantly improved MPTP-induced behavioral and neuropathological deterioration, suggesting that it may be a potential candidate for PD therapy.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to clarify the dynamics of information provision and human interaction to satisfy the needs of family caregivers. A questionnaire survey consisting of items on information received at and after diagnosis, persons and resources consulted, needs, and caregiver-oriented outcomes was conducted. Among the respondents, 2295 individuals who were caring for people with dementia were divided into quartiles by the time after diagnosis, and differences were statistically analyzed. The time after diagnosis in the first to fourth quartiles was 0.73 ± 0.4, 2.52 ± 0.49, 4.89 ± 0.73, and 10.82 ± 3.7 years, respectively. The number of persons consulted by family caregivers increased significantly from the first to the fourth quartiles (p < 0.001). During this time, attributes of professionals and informal supporters changed depending on the quartile. As time progressed, acceptance of the diagnosis increased, but so did its impact on the lives of family caregivers. These findings revealed differences over time in what family caregivers wanted and the dynamics of interactions that filled their needs. Informal supporters accounted for a significant proportion of the total resources. However, many family caregivers thought the information and support were insufficient. Thus, continuous reform of the care pathway is needed.

ABSTRACT

We have previously shown that a fatty acid-binding protein7 (FABP7) inhibitor ameliorates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice, suggesting an association between FABPs and ischemic neuronal injury. However, the precise role of FABPs in ischemic neuronal injury remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of FABPs in ischemia-reperfusion neuronal injury. FABP3, FABP5, and FABP7 were upregulated in the ischemic penumbra regions in mice. However, only FABP3 and FABP5 were expressed in injured neurons. Furthermore, FABP3 and FABP5 accumulated in the mitochondria of ischemic neurons. Overexpressing either FABP3 or FABP5 aggravated the reduced mitochondrial membrane potential and induced cell death in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells during oxidative stress. This damage was mediated by the formation of BAX-containing pores in the mitochondrial membrane. Moreover, FABP5 mediates lipid peroxidation and generates toxic by-products (i.e., 4-HNE) in SH-SY5Y cells. HY11-08 (HY08), a novel FABP3 and 5 inhibitor that does not act on FABP7, significantly reduced cerebral infarct volume and blocked FABP3/5-induced mitochondrial damage, including lipid peroxidation and BAX-related apoptotic signaling. Thus, FABP3 and FABP5 are key players in triggering mitochondrial damage in ischemic neurons. In addition, the novel FABP inhibitor, HY08, may be a potential neuroprotective treatment for ischemic stroke.

BACKGROUND: Dementia is a disease that is frequently associated with significant caregiving burden. The present study was conducted on patients with dementia in order to investigate the causes of caregiver burden using the Dementia Assessment Sheet for Community-based Integrated Care System-21 items (DASC-21) and Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview (ZBI). METHODS: The study subjects consisted of 206 elderly patients (mean age: 80.9 ± 5.9 years) with dementia in an outpatient clinic. Current age, gender, type of dementia, Mini-Mental State Examination, Hasegawa Dementia Scale-Revised, Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and the DASC-21 were investigated. Caregiver burden was assessed by using the ZBI. Behavioural and Psychological Symptom of Dementia (BPSD) were evaluated by using the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI). Simple regression analysis for the ZBI was performed with respective risk factors as independent variables. Thereafter, multiple regression analysis was performed. RESULTS: The mean ZBI score was 28.0 ± 18.1, whereas mean DASC-21 score was 44.4 ± 13.2. Simple regression analysis for the ZBI was performed with respective risk factors as independent variables. The DASC-21 (P < 0.001), CDR (P < 0.001), NPI (P < 0.001), and GDS (P = 0.034) were significantly associated with the ZBI. For each item of the DASC-21, Memory (P < 0.001), Orientation (P < 0.001), Solving issues/Common sense (P < 0.001), Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) outside the home (P < 0.001), IADL inside the home (P < 0.001), Physical ADL① (P < 0.001) and Physical ADL② (P = 0.014) were also significantly associated with the ZBI. To find the independent association of the ZBI, multiple regression analysis was performed. The results showed that DASC-21 (P < 0.001) and NPI (P < 0.001) had significant correlation. For each item of the DASC-21, Memory (P = 0.014) and Solving issues/Common sense (P < 0.001) were also shown to have significant correlation. CONCLUSIONS: Both BPSD, cognition and IADL have affected caregiver burden. The DASC-21 is useful for determining the causes of caregiver burden of dementia patients.

ABSTRACT

Current countermeasures for preventing hypertension emphasize only improvements to lifestyle. Recently, improving life environment has attracted attention, in parallel with publication of the WHO Housing and health guidelines. We quantitatively evaluated the relationship between housing thermal environment and blood pressure (BP) in a real-world setting. We conducted a nationwide, prospective intervention study-the Smart Wellness Housing survey-in Japan, as a non-randomized controlled trial. The intervention was the retrofitting of thermal insulation in houses. Participant recruitment was done by construction companies in all 47 prefectures of Japan. Measurements of home BP and indoor temperature at 1.0 m above the floor in the living room, changing room, and bedroom were taken for 2 weeks before and after the intervention each winter (November-March) of FY 2014-2019. As of July 2022, over 2500 households and 5000 participants were registered in the database. We found that (1) about 90% of Japanese lived in cold homes (minimum indoor temperature <18 °C), (2) indoor temperature was non-linearly associated with home BP, (3) morning systolic BP (SBP) was more sensitive than evening SBP to changes in indoor temperature, (4) SBP was influenced by indoor temperature change particularly in older participants and women, (5) unstable indoor temperature was associated with large BP variability, and (6) insulation retrofitting intervention significantly reduced home BP, especially in hypertensive patients. We proposed that the BP reduction effect of the life-environment is comparable to that achievable by lifestyle.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). It has also been pointed out that AD associated with DM may have unique characteristics. However, the characteristics of impairment in daily functioning when associated with DM have not been sufficiently investigated. Methods: In the present study, we compared the characteristics of 261 patients with AD diagnosed in the outpatient memory clinic of a university hospital, divided into diabetic and nondiabetic groups. The MMSE was used to assess cognitive function, and the Dementia Assessment Sheet for Community-based Integrated Care System 21-items (DASC-21) was used as an observational method to assess cognitive function and activities of daily livings. The two groups were compared. Furthermore, simple and multiple regression analysis was carried out in order to find the independent association of age, sex, education, DM, and HbA1c with the DASC-21 and each individual item of the DASC-21. Results: Diabetic subjects were as follows: MMSE 18.8 ± 4.0, DASC-21 46.0 ± 13.2, and HbA1c 7.07 ± 1.24%, respectively. On the other hand, nondiabetic subjects were as follows: MMSE 19.0 ± 4.5 and DASC-21 42.1 ± 12.2, respectively. In the diabetic group, total score of DASC-21 was higher (DM vs. nondiabetes mellitus [NDM]: 46.0 ± 13.2 vs. 42.1 ± 12.2; p < 0.05) and solving issues and common sense on the DASC-21 were higher than in the nondiabetic group (NDM) (DM vs. NDM: 8.58 ± 2.71 vs. 7.76 ± 2.66; p < 0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that the presence of DM was the significant determinant of solving issues and common sense on the DASC-21 (p < 0.05). Conclusions: In AD patients, DM may be associated with impairment of solving issues and common sense.

ABSTRACT

AIM: Issuance of the WHO Housing and health guidelines has paralleled growing interest in the housing environment. Despite accumulating evidence of an association between outdoor temperature and serum cholesterol, indoor temperature has not been well investigated. This study examined the association between indoor temperature and serum cholesterol. METHODS: We collected valid health checkup data of 2004 participants (1333 households), measured the indoor temperature for 2 weeks in winter, and divided participants according to whether they lived in a warm (average bedroom temperature ≥ 18℃), slightly cold (12-18℃) or cold house (<12˚C). The relationship between bedroom temperature and serum cholesterol was analyzed using multivariate logistic regression models, adjusting for demographics, lifestyle habits and the season in which the health checkup was conducted, with a random effect of climate areas in Japan. RESULTS: The sample sizes for warm, slightly cold, and cold houses were 206, 940, and 858, respectively. Compared to those in warm houses, the odds ratio of total cholesterol exceeding 220 mg/dL was 1.83 (95%CI: 1.23-2.71, p=0.003) for participants in slightly cold houses and 1.87 (95%CI: 1.25-2.80, p=0.002) in cold houses. Similarly, the odds ratio of LDL/non-HDL cholesterol exceeding the standard range was 1.49 (p=0.056)/1.67 (p=0.035) for those in slightly cold houses and 1.64 (p=0.020)/1.77 (p=0.021) in cold houses. HDL cholesterol and triglycerides were not significantly associated with bedroom temperature. CONCLUSION: Besides lifestyle modification, improving indoor thermal environment through strategies such as installing high thermal insulation and appropriate use of heating devices may contribute to better serum cholesterol condition.

BACKGROUND: Dementia cafés have been attracting attention as a new approach to dementia care, but the effects of the participation of medical professionals remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: To clarify the significance of collaboration between medical professionals and dementia cafés. METHODS: Questionnaires regarding the numbers of staff and guests, whether medical professionals introduced guests, whether cafés announced their activities to medical institutions, and whether people with dementia played a role were sent to dementia cafés throughout Japan. The responding dementia cafés were then divided into two groups according to the presence or involvement of medical professionals and institutions and compared. RESULTS: Responses were received from 148 dementia cafés, among which, medical professionals participated in 96 (64.9%). Significantly more people with dementia living at home attended cafés run or staffed with medical professionals (p = 0.021 and p = 0.017, respectively), as well as when medical professionals introduced guests to the café or when the café announced their activities to medical institutions (p = 0.001 and p = 0.002, respectively). Significantly more people with dementia played a role in cafés where medical professionals were administrators or staff (p = 0.008 and p = 0.018, respectively). Similar effects were observed for family caregivers. CONCLUSION: The participation and involvement of medical professionals and institutions in dementia cafés increased the attendance of people with dementia, especially those living at home. These results suggest that dementia cafés are an effective hub for connecting care for dementia with medical care, and thus help avoid fragmentation in dementia care.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: In this study, we investigated subjective geriatric complaints (SGCs) as conditions regarding health concerns in community-dwelling older people and analyzed their frequencies with aging and relationships with other factors. METHODS: This cross-sectional study enrolled 10,434 older people living in a community with a representative aging population in Japan. A questionnaire was sent by mail to those who had not applied for formal care needs certification. The presence of and concern for symptoms common in old age were asked as SGCs, as were physical function levels, multimorbidity, and depression. Categorical principal component analysis (CATPCA) of the symptoms was performed, and the association between the obtained components and other factors was analyzed. RESULTS: The mean age of the participants was 73.7 ± 6.1 years, and 52.5% were women. On average, they had 1.72 ± 1.57 SGCs, which showed a gradual increase with age. The results of the CATPCA revealed four components: SGC1, excretory/circulatory/swallowing complaints; SGC2, audiovisual complaints; SGC3, neurological complaints; and SGC4, musculoskeletal complaints. All SGC components were independently associated with physical function, multimorbidity, and depression. CONCLUSIONS: Each SGC showed various frequencies and differences along with aging, and SGCs were classified into four components that were thought to share a common background. These findings could contribute to the planning of better health management strategies for older people.
