ABSTRACT

This study aimed to assess the prevalence of neurological symptoms and related imaging findings in patients with von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) at Rasool Akram Hospital from September 2018 to September 2021. This analytical observational study examined eligible patients over the period from September 2018 to September 2021. We collected demographic information (age, gender) along with imaging findings and results of neurological and eye examinations. Comparison between qualitative variables was also done using the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. Also, an independent t-test was used to compare quantitative variables between the two groups. SPSS version 22 software was used for statistical analysis of data. A significant level was considered less than or equal to 0.05. Of the 54 examined patients (48.1% were male and 51.9% were female) with an average age of 36.42 ± 13.37 years. A significant majority (87.0%) reported a positive family history of the disease. The most common type of disease was Type 1 observed in 94.4% of cases and Type 2A was the next most frequent (3.7%). The most common pattern of retinal pathological lesions seen in the examination was related to bilateral lesions (79.6%). The most common pathological finding was related to the presence of a mass in cerebellar magnetic resonance imaging (48.1%). Considering the findings of the present study, which highlight a significant frequency of bilateral retinal lesions as well as masses in the central nervous system and endocrine system, it is evident that patients require careful follow-up and various interventions after being diagnosed with the disease. This approach is essential to manage and potentially mitigate the complications associated with these conditions.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays finding the new antimicrobials is necessary due to the emerging of multidrug resistant strains. The present study aimed to isolate and characterize bacteriophages against S. aureus. Strains Huma and Simurgh were the two podovirus morphology phages which isolated and then characterized. Huma and Simurgh had a genome size of 16,853 and 17,245 bp, respectively and both were Rosenblumvirus with G + C content of 29%. No lysogeny-related genes, nor virulence genes were identified in their genomes. They were lytic only against two out of four S. aureus strains. They also were able to inhibit S. aureus for 8 h in-vitro. Both showed a rapid adsorption. Huma and Simurgh had the latent period of 80 and 60 m and the burst sizes of 45 and 40 PFU/ml and also, they showed very low cell toxicity of 1.23%-1.79% on HT-29 cells, respectively. Thus, they can be considered potential candidates for biocontrol applications.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: The ultrasound examination of the hip joint is performed in the static (Graf) technique in the lateral recumbent position and in the dynamic technique in the supine position. This study compares the two static and dynamic techniques and assesses the role of the patient's position in the examination of DDH. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020-2021 at Akbar Hospital, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Iran. 126 patients suspected of having DDH (199 hip) infants were enrolled in the study. All ultrasound examinations were performed with two static and dynamic techniques by a pediatric radiologist. Results: In the static and dynamic ultrasound examinations, the average alpha angle was 51.57 ± 6.41 degrees, and 53.41 ± 6.94 degrees, respectively. These changes were not statistically significant (P = 0.312). The relationship and agreement between instability with dynamic technique and instability with static technique (IIC unstable, D, III, and IV) were investigated. Significant agreement (Kappa=0.77 (95% CI: 0.66-0.87) with excellent clinical significance was obtained between the two ultrasound examination method. Also, in terms of DDH types in the static method with instability types in the dynamic method, a substantial agreement was found between the two examination methods (Kappa =0.67; (95% CI: 0.59-0.75) with good clinical significance. Conclusion: In the ultrasound examination of DDH with static and dynamic techniques, the change in the alpha angle was not statistically significant. Therefore, the hand of the radiologist is open in measuring alpha angles and there is no need to emphasize a specific position. The type of DDH in the static technique completely corresponded to the type of stability or instability in the dynamic technique.

ABSTRACT

Schizophrenia constitutes a severe psychiatric disorder with detrimental impacts on individuals, their support systems, and the broader economy. Extensive research has revealed a notable association between variations in the Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) gene and an increased susceptibility to schizophrenia.This study represents the first systematic review of the literature investigating the impact of CTLA-4 polymorphisms and expression on the development and progression of schizophrenia.Our investigation involved a comprehensive search strategy, using a combination of title, abstract, and MESH terms in four databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, until August 29th, 2023. The complete texts of the identified records were obtained and rigorously assessed based on predefined exclusion and inclusion criteria. Out of the numerous records, a total of 88 were identified through the databases. 10 studies met the criteria; therefore, their quality was assessed and included in this systematic study. The records were then categorized into polymorphism and expression groups. Our investigation emphasizes an association between rs3087243, rs231779, rs231777, rs16840252, rs5742909, and rs231775 polymorphisms and the development of schizophrenia. The results demonstrate a correlation between CTLA-4 polymorphisms and schizophrenia, compelling the need for further research to thoroughly examine the role of CTLA-4 in schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders.

ABSTRACT

Background: Cancer patients frequently turn to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) to mitigate the adverse effects of conventional cancer treatments, alleviate stress, manage comorbidities, and address the cancer itself. This systematic review aims to investigate descriptive studies conducted in Iran, focusing on the prevalence and methods of CAM use among cancer patients. Methods: A thorough search of PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Magiran, and the Scientific Information Database (SID) was conducted in both English and Persian from inception to July 2023. Inclusion criteria targeted studies exploring the frequency and patterns of CAM utilization among Iranian patients across diverse cancer types. Results: A total of 604 articles were found in the preliminary search, and 14 were included in this review. Among the 3,990 participants in the included studies, a weighted average of 51.83% (range 4.6%-100%) had used at least one CAM method. The most commonly used CAM methods were prayer (41.8%), medicinal herbs (30.1%), traditional and folk treatments (27.2%), bloodletting (17.3%), and hydrotherapy (13%). Patients reported using CAM for various reasons, including their beliefs, desire to cure the disease, reduce stress, positive past experiences, and improve physical condition. On average, 39% of patients informed their physicians about their CAM use. Conclusion: The findings underscore the relatively prevalent adoption of CAM by Iranian cancer patients. Given the low rate of disclosure to physicians, there is a compelling need for healthcare system vigilance and monitoring to ensure comprehensive patient care.

ABSTRACT

Techniques that reduce mechanical energy have been linked to lower chances of experiencing an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Although there is evidence that movement patterns are altered in athletes who have undergone Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACLR), energy transfer mechanisms have not been examined. This study aimed to compare energy flow mechanisms during single-leg drop landing between athletes with and without history of ACLR. A total of 20 female athletes were included in this study. Ten participants underwent ACLR 12 months ago (mean age, 21.57 ± 0.41 years) and 10 were healthy controls (mean age, 20.89 ± 0.21 years). Participants executed the single-leg drop landing (SLL) maneuver by descending from a 30 cm wooden box and landing on the tested leg on an embedded force plate. Information collected during the SLL trials was refined using rigid-body analysis and inverse dynamics within Nexus software, ultimately allowing construction of skeletal models of the athletes. Ankle and knee mechanical energy expenditure (MEE) was higher in the control participants during landing. However, the result for the hip MEE demonstrated that MEE of the control group was significantly lower compared with the ACLR group, but MEE of the control subjects was higher as compared to ACLR group (p ˂ 0.05). Results suggest the avoidant use of the quadriceps muscle post ACLR leads to knee-avoidant mechanics and loss of knee joint power generation during a SLL task.

ABSTRACT

This study investigates the potential of using bacteriophages to control foodborne pathogen biofilms on stainless steel surfaces in the food industry. Biofilm-forming bacteria can attach to stainless steel surfaces, rendering them difficult to eradicate even after a thorough cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Bacteriophages have been proposed as a possible solution, as they can penetrate biofilms and destroy bacterial cells within, reducing the number of viable bacteria and preventing the growth and spread of biofilms. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the potential of bacteriophages against different biofilm-forming foodborne bacteria, including Cronobacter sakazakii, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Listeria monocytogenes. Bacteriophage treatment generally causes a significant average reduction of 38 % in biofilm formation of foodborne pathogens on stainless steel. Subgroup analyses revealed that phages are more efficient in long-duration treatment. Also, applying a cocktail of phages is 1.26-fold more effective than applying individual phages. Phages at concentrations exceeding 107 PFU/ml are significantly more efficacious in eradicating bacteria within a biofilm. The antibacterial phage activity decreases substantially by 3.54-fold when applied at 4 °C compared to temperatures above 25 °C. This analysis suggests that bacteriophages can be a promising solution for controlling biofilms in the food industry.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Allergic rhinitis is the most common allergic disease. It can accompany psychological disorders such as tic disorders due to the prolonged course of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. This pioneer case-control study aims to investigate tic disorders in children and adolescents under 18 years of age diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. METHOD: The case group in this study consisted of patients who had both allergic rhinitis and tic disorders. Patients with allergic rhinitis without tic disorders were also enrolled as the control group with matched gender and age. Demographic characteristics, tic classifications, and contributing factors for allergic rhinitis and tic disorders were studied among the cases. Tic disorders were evaluated using DSM-5 criteria for the classification of tic disorders. RESULTS: 47 patients in the case group and 47 patients in the control group were included in this study. 53.2% and 46.8% were males and females in the case group, respectively. The mean age of the patients was 10.46 ± 3.97 years old. Sound tics were more common among the patients compared to motor tics. Patients with concomitant AR and tic disorders had more days per week with AR symptoms (P-value ≤ 0.001; OR (every day vs. three days a week = 11.02(2.98, 40.76))). Most patients with sound tick were women (p: 0.026), and most patients with motion tic were in the Provisional tic disorder group (p: 0.001). The history of infantile eczema was seen more in patients without sound tic (p: 0.025), and otitis media was significantly less common among patients with sound tics (p: 0.026). Provisional tic disorder was the most common class among the patients. In the case group (coexistence between allergic rhinitis and tic) compared to the control group, patients had significantly more days with AR symptoms per week. CONCLUSION: This preliminary study indicates that Provisional tic disorder was the most common classification of tic among patients with allergic rhinitis, especially in patients with motor tics. Asthma in motor tics, a history of food allergy in infancy, and a history of infantile eczema were also common among patients with vocal tics. Also, patients with allergic rhinitis and tic had more severe disease (more symptoms per week) than those with rhinitis alone. These findings emphasize the association of tic disorders with immunological pathways.

ABSTRACT

Nano-carriers are well-known delivery systems to encapsulate different bioactive compounds and extracts. Such nano-systems are used in various food and drug areas to protect active ingredients, increase bioavailability, control the release, and deliver bioactive substances. This study aimed to design and fabricate a stable colloidal nano-delivery system to better preserve the antioxidant properties of pomegranate peel extract (PPE) and protect its sustained release in a gastrointestinal model. To achieve this goal, a nano-phytosomal system was fabricated with plant-based, cost-effective, and food-grade compounds, i.e., phosphatidylcholine (PC) and gamma-oryzanol (GO) for encapsulation of PPE. To fabricate the nano-phytosomes, thin film hydration/sonication method was used. The parameters of particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI), loading capacity (LC), and encapsulation efficiency (EE) were investigated to evaluate the efficiency of the produced nano-system. In summary, the size, zeta potential, PDI, LC, and EE of homogenous spherical PC-GO-PPE nano-phytosomes (NPs) in the ratio of 8:2:2 % w/w were achieved as 60.61 ± 0.81 nm, -32.24 ± 0.84 mV, 0.19 ± 0.01, 19.13 ± 0.30 %, and 95.66 ± 1.52 %, respectively. Also, the structure of NPs was approved by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The optimized NPs were stable during one month of storage at 4 °C, and changes in the size of particles and PPE retention rate were insignificant (p > 0.05). The nano-encapsulation of PPE significantly decreased the loss of its antioxidant activity during one month of storage at 4 °C. The optimized NPs exhibited prolonged and sustained release of PPE in a gastrointestinal model, so that after 2 h in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) and 4 h in simulated intestinal fluid (SIF), 22.66 ± 2.51 % and 69.33 ± 4.50 % of initially loaded PPE was released, respectively. Optimized NPs had considerable cytotoxicity against the Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 cell line (MCF7) (IC50 = 103 µg/ml), but not against Human Foreskin Fibroblast cell line (HFF-2) (IC50 = 453 µg/ml). In conclusion, spherical PC-GO-PPE NPs were identified as a promising delivery system to efficiently encapsulate PPE, as well as protect and preserve its bioactivity, including antioxidant and cytotoxicity against cancer cell line.

ABSTRACT

The development of potent adjuvants is an important step for improving the performance of subunit vaccines. CD1d agonists, such as the prototypical α-galactosyl ceramide (α-GalCer), are of special interest due to their ability to activate iNKT cells and trigger rapid dendritic cell maturation and B-cell activation. Herein, we introduce a novel derivatization hotspot at the α-GalCer skeleton, namely the N-substituent at the amide bond. The multicomponent diversification of this previously unexplored glycolipid chemotype space permitted the introduction of a variety of extra functionalities that can either potentiate the adjuvant properties or serve as handles for further conjugation to antigens toward the development of self-adjuvanting vaccines. This strategy led to the discovery of compounds eliciting enhanced antigen-specific T cell stimulation and a higher antibody response when delivered by either the parenteral or the mucosal route, as compared to a known potent CD1d agonist. Notably, various functionalized α-GalCer analogues showed a more potent adjuvant effect after intranasal immunization than a PEGylated α-GalCer analogue previously optimized for this purpose. Ultimately, this work could open multiple avenues of opportunity for the use of mucosal vaccines against microbial infections.

This systematic review was conducted to provide an overview of the effects of chronic ankle instability (CAI) on the biomechanical organization of gait initiation. Gait initiation is a classical model used in the literature to investigate postural control in healthy and pathological individuals. PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched for relevant articles. Eligible studies were screened and data extracted by two independent reviewers. An evaluation of the quality of the studies was performed using the Downs and Black checklist. A total of 878 articles were found in the initial search, but only six studies met the inclusion criteria. The findings from the literature suggest that CAI affects the characteristics of gait initiation. Specifically, individuals with CAI exhibit notable differences in reaction time, the spatiotemporal parameters of anticipatory postural adjustments (APAs) and step execution, ankle-foot kinematics, and muscle activation compared to healthy controls. In particular, the observed differences in APA patterns associated with gait initiation suggest the presence of supraspinal motor control alterations in individuals with CAI. These findings may provide valuable information for the rehabilitation of these patients. However, the limited evidence available calls for caution in interpreting the results and underscores the need for further research.

The current threat of multidrug resistant strains necessitates development of alternatives to antibiotics such as bacteriophages. This study describes the isolation and characterization of a novel Salmonella Typhimurium phage 'Arash' from hospital wastewater in Leuven, Belgium. Arash has a myovirus morphology with a 95 nm capsid and a 140 nm tail. The host range of Arash is restricted to its isolation host. Approximately 86% of the phage particles are adsorbed to a host cell within 10 min. Arash has latent period of 65 min and burst size of 425 PFU/cell. Arash has a dsDNA genome of 180,819 bp with GC content of 53.02% with no similarities to any characterized phages, suggesting Arash as a novel species in the novel 'Arashvirus' genus. Arash carries no apparent lysogeny-, antibiotic resistance- nor virulence-related genes. Proteome analysis revealed 116 proteins as part of the mature phage particles of which 27 could be assigned a function. Therefore, the present findings shed light on the morphological, microbiological and genomic characteristics of Arash and suggest its potential application as therapeutic and/or biocontrol agent.

Introduction: Emotions play a critical role in human communication, exerting a significant influence on brain function and behavior. One effective method of observing and analyzing these emotions is through electroencephalography (EEG) signals. Although numerous studies have been dedicated to emotion recognition (ER) using EEG signals, achieving improved accuracy in recognition remains a challenging task. To address this challenge, this paper presents a deep-learning approach for ER using EEG signals. Background: ER is a dynamic field of research with diverse practical applications in healthcare, human-computer interaction, and affective computing. In ER studies, EEG signals are frequently employed as they offer a non-invasive and cost-effective means of measuring brain activity. Nevertheless, accurately identifying emotions from EEG signals poses a significant challenge due to the intricate and non-linear nature of these signals. Methods: The present study proposes a novel approach for ER that encompasses multiple stages, including feature extraction, feature selection (FS) employing clustering, and classification using Dual-LSTM. To conduct the experiments, the DEAP dataset was employed, wherein a clustering technique was applied to Hurst's view and statistical features during the FS phase. Ultimately, Dual-LSTM was employed for accurate ER. Results: The proposed method achieved a remarkable accuracy of 97.5% in accurately classifying emotions across four categories: arousal, valence, liking/disliking, dominance, and familiarity. This high level of accuracy serves as strong evidence for the effectiveness of the deep-learning approach to emotion recognition (ER) utilizing EEG signals. Conclusion: The deep-learning approach proposed in this paper has shown promising results in emotion recognition using EEG signals. This method can be useful in various applications, such as developing more effective therapies for individuals with mood disorders or improving human-computer interaction by allowing machines to respond more intelligently to users' emotional states. However, further research is needed to validate the proposed method on larger datasets and to investigate its applicability to real-world scenarios.

ABSTRACT

Silymarin (SM) exhibits potential therapeutic effects due to having antioxidant activity. However, the low solubility and bioavailability of SM restrict its biological performance. To overcome this limitation, this study aimed to develop a nanoformulation composed of SM and dimethyltindichloride and investigate the effect of SM-loaded Sn nanoparticles on cancer cell growth and survival. An SM-Sn complex was synthesized and then characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), EDS-MAP, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and ζ-potential analysis. After that, the SW480 colorectal cancer cell line was treated with different concentrations of SM and the SM-Sn complex. Cell viability was examined through the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, analyzing apoptosis, and live-dead assay. The lipid peroxidation rate was assessed through the measurement of thiobarbituric acid (TBA). Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and cell population in the cell cycle were measured using a flow cytometry instrument. To evaluate the colonization ability of SW480 cells, a colony formation assay was performed. Gene expression analysis was also conducted using a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. The findings of this study revealed the effectiveness of the SM-Sn complex in decreasing SW480 cell viability by inducing cell death-associated mechanisms. We found that the SM-Sn complex increases intracellular ROS level and malondialdehyde (MDA) content. It was also revealed that the SM-Sn complex induces cell cycle arrest and the expression of apoptotic genes. In addition, the SM-Sn complex could effectively hinder SW480 cells from constituting colonies. We conclude that the use of tin(IV) as a scaffold for enhanced delivery of SM could be considered an efficient option for inhibiting cancer cell proliferation and survival.

ABSTRACT

Silyl ether protecting groups are important tools in organic synthesis, ensuring selective reactions of hydroxyl functional groups. Enantiospecific formation or cleavage could simultaneously enable the resolution of racemic mixtures and thus significantly increase the efficiency of complex synthetic pathways. Based on reports that lipases, which today are already particularly important tools in chemical synthesis, can catalyze the enantiospecific turnover of trimethylsilanol (TMS)-protected alcohols, the goal of this study was to determine the conditions under which such a catalysis occurs. Through detailed experimental and mechanistic investigation, we demonstrated that although lipases mediate the turnover of TMS-protected alcohols, this occurs independently of the known catalytic triad, as this is unable to stabilize a tetrahedral intermediate. The reaction is essentially non-specific and therefore most likely completely independent of the active site. This rules out lipases as catalysts for the resolution of racemic mixtures of alcohols through protection or deprotection with silyl groups.

ABSTRACT

Targeted delivery of a toxin substance to cancer cells is one of the most recent cancer treatment options. Mistletoe Lectin-1 (ML1) in Viscum album L. is a Ribosome-inactivating proteins with anticancer properties. Therefore, it appears that a recombinant protein with selective permeability can be generated by fusing ML1 protein with Shiga toxin B, which can bind to Gb3 receptor that is abundantly expressed on cancer cells. In this study, we sought to produce and purify a fusion protein containing ML1 fused to STxB and evaluate its cytotoxic activities. The ML1-STxB fusion protein coding sequence was cloned into the pET28a plasmid, then was transformed into E. coli BL21-DE3 cells. Following induction of protein expression, Ni-NTA affinity chromatography was used to purify the protein. Using SDS-PAGE and western blotting, the expression and purification processes were validated. On the SkBr3 cell line, the cytotoxic effects of the recombinant proteins were evaluated. On SDS-PAGE and western blotting membrane, analysis of purified proteins revealed a band of approximately 41 kDa for rML1-STxB. Ultimately, statistical analysis demonstrated that rML1-STxB exerted significant cytotoxic effects on SkBr3 cells at 18.09 and 22.52 ng/L. The production, purification, and encapsulation of rML1-STxB fusion protein with potential cancer cell-specific toxicity were successful. However, additional research must be conducted on the cytotoxic effects of this fusion protein on other malignant cell lines and in vivo cancer models.

ABSTRACT

MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) are non-coding, single-stranded, endogenous RNAs that regulate various biological processes, most notably the pathophysiology of many human malignancies. It process is accomplished by binding to 3'-UTR mRNAs and controlling gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. As an oncogene, miRNAs can either accelerate cancer progression or slow it down as a tumor suppressor. MicroRNA-372 (miR-372) has been found to have an abnormal expression in numerous human malignancies, implying that the miRNA plays a role in carcinogenesis. It is both increased and downregulated in various cancers, and it serves as both a tumor suppressor and an oncogene. This study examines the functions of miR-372 as well as the LncRNA/CircRNA-miRNA-mRNA signaling pathways in various malignancies and analyses its potential prognostic, diagnostic, and therapeutic implications.

Nowadays, one of the biggest challenges is the lack of coordination between the microplastic identification methods used by researchers. To advance our global understanding of microplastic contamination and address the knowledge gaps, we require acceptable or similar identification methods or instruments designed to support the quantitative characterization of the microplastics data. In the current study, we focused on the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) method which is usually used experimentally by other researchers, while we tried to look at this method in a real aquatic environment, Maharloo Lake and its Rivers. A number of 22 sites were chosen for sampling microplastics from water. The mean and median of total organic matter percentage for rivers samples (mean = 88%;median = 88%) was similar to the Maharloo lake (mean = 88.33%; median = 89%), suggesting the existence of a robust potential sink. The differentiation of the organic matter part into labile (e.g., carbon aliphatic and polysaccharides), recalcitrant (e.g., aromatic compounds and most plastics), and refractory fractions was implemented and the results indicated that labile organic matter was dominant in both the lake and the rivers, while recalcitrant and refractory fractions were lower. The river's average labile and refractory fractions were similar to the lake. Although the overall results of the study show combining TGA techniques with other analytical procedures can improve the technical quality of polymers, interpreting the complex information of those measurements requires a high level of expertise and the technology is still maturing.

ABSTRACT

Antibiotic-resistant pathogens have become a great universal health concern. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are small amphipathic and cationic polypeptides with high therapeutic potential against various microorganisms containing drug-resistant strains. Two major groups of these peptides, which have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, antiviral activity, and even antifungal activity, are defensins and cathelicidins. Hybridization of various AMPs is an appropriate approach to achieving new fusion AMPs with high antibacterial activity but low cellular toxicity. In the current research, the amino-acid sequence of human cathelicidin LL-37 (2-31) and Human beta-defensin (hBD)-129 were combined, and the fusion protein was evaluated by bioinformatics tool. The designed AMP gene sequence was commercially synthesized and cloned in the pET-28a expression vector. The LL-37/hBD-129 fusion protein was expressed in E.coli BL21-gold (DE3). The expression of the recombinant protein was evaluated using the SDS-PAGE method. The LL37/hBD-129 was successfully expressed as a recombinant hybrid AMP in E.coli BL21-gold (DE3) strain. Purification of the expressed AMP was performed by Ni-NTA column affinity chromatography, and the purified AMP was validated using the Western blot technic. Finally, the antimicrobial activity of the fusion AMP against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria was assessed. Based on the in silico analysis and experimental evaluations, the fusion AMP showed a significant antimicrobial effect on E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
