ABSTRACT

Introduction: In China, the rapid progression of population aging presents significant challenges to society and the economy, drawing widespread attention to the health conditions of older adults. While aging is often seen as a societal burden, the phenomenon of intergenerational economic support reveals the potential for older adults to continue playing an active role within their families. This study delves into how older parents' financial support to their children can reciprocally influence their own health, exploring the potential non-linear relationships involved. Methods: This research, utilizing data from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, employs instrumental variable techniques and cross-sectional threshold models to examine how financial support provided by older adults to their children affects their health. It particularly highlights the varied impacts of economic support on older adults' health at different levels of support. Results: The findings indicate that moderate intergenerational economic support significantly enhances the health of older adults, while either minimal or excessive financial support does not demonstrate the same positive effect. Additionally, subjective life expectancy plays a mediating role between intergenerational economic support and the health of older adults, further emphasizing the beneficial impact of economic support. Discussion: The study underscores the importance of moderate intergenerational economic support in improving the health of older adults amidst aging challenges. Future policies and practices should consider how to encourage and optimize such support to address the challenges of an aging society, enhance the welfare of older adults, and promote healthy aging.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the short-term clinical effectiveness and feasibility of thoracic endovascular aortic repair(TEVAR) with in situ laser fenestration.Methods 24 patients who received TEVAR and in situ laser fenestration from January 2017 to March 2017 were retrospectively reviewed.Include 24 patients,19 males,5 females,with an average age of (54.00 ± 13.58) years old.The clinical data,including post-operative symptoms,hospitalization days,the success rate,postoperative complications,30-day fatality ratio,the patency rate of branch stents,endoleak,etc.Results The mean hospitalization time was(12.81 ±4.18) days.32 aortic arch branch vessels were treated using in situ laser fenestration,30 succeed in laser fenestration,surgical success rate was 93.8%.One case with postoperative paraplegia recovered after treatment,another one with the left common carotid incision hematoma recovered too.The incidence of operation-related complications was 8.3 %.After the surgery 1 patient died,30-day fatality ratio of 4.2%.Imaging surveillance with computed tomography angiography(CTA) was performed one month later after the operation,the patency rate of branch stents was 100%,one case was found endoleak.Conclusion For revascularizating aortic arch branch vessels during TEVAR,in situ laser fenestration has an excellent successful rate and short-term curative effect,while the long-term surveillance is needed.

ABSTRACT

Objective To prepare the biodegradable polylactic acid glycolic acid (PLGA) copolymer.encapsulated vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) loaded fluorescent controlled release sub-microspheres,to understand the efficiency of microspheres loading and releasing VEGF and to observe in vitro microspheres degradation.Methods VEGF-loading PLGA sub-microspheres were prepared by the two-phase solvent evaporation method,the in vitro degradation of fluorescent microspheres was observed by the laser confocal scanning electron microscopy.The drug loading efficiency and drug release curve were observed by ELISA.Results The VEGF loading PLGA fluorescent microspheres were successfully prepared by using the two-phase solvent evaporation method.The microspheres morphology was normal by using the scanning electron microscope and laser confocal microscope.The particle size was 0.5-1.0 μm with the laser particle size analyzer.The distribution was homogeneous.The VEGF loading rate and encapsulation rate detected by the quantitative ELISA were 3.91% and 51.42 % respectively.The fluorescent microscope observed their slow degradation.The VEGF gentle release was detected by the quantitative ELISA,which showing linear zero order release trend.Conclusion The drug loading efficiency of VEGF-loading PLGA microspheres with 0.5-1.0 μm diameter is higher with linear zero order release,which can be directly observed by fluorescent light.

ABSTRACT

Objective To apply color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) and transcranial Doppler (TCD) to the follow-up observation of the changes of cervical vessel,intracranial hemodynamics and cerebrovascular reserve capacity (CVR) of the patients after carotid artery stent implantation.Methods Totally 96 patients with carotid artery stent implantation underwent CDFI and TCD examinations,and the changes of hemodynamics were compared before and 1 month,6 months,1 a and 2 a after implantation.Results The values of peak systolic velocity (PSV) and resistance index (RI) at the areas of carotid stenosis were lower significantly than those before implantation,while the values of PSV,pulsatility index (PI) and CVR of the middle cerebral artery were obviously higher than those before implantation (P<0.05).There were no significant differences between the cervical and intracranial hemodynamics indexes 1 month,6 months,1 a and 2 a after treatment.Two-year follow-up found 4 cases of restenoses after implantation,and the rate for restenosis was 4.2%.Conclusion Carotid artery stent implantation improves significantly cervical and intracranial blood supply as well as CVR of the carotid stenosis patient,and CDFI combined with TCD can be used for the accurate evaluation of the efficacy and postoperative follow-up of carotid artery stent implantation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To examine the chracteristics of distribution of the FGF R before and after the flap transplantation and the influence of exogenic bFGF on the distribution of FGF R. Method Caudally based random skin flaps were raised on the backs of Wistar rats,bFGF was instilled under flaps after closure.An immunohistochemical techniques stanining method was used. Results FGF receptors distributes in the stratum basal of epidermis,the vascular endothelial cells in the dermis and hypodermis,the fibroblasts and the epithelial cells of the hair follicle and the sweat gland.In compared with preoperation,the quantity of increased gradually from the 1st day to the fifth day after operation,and the peak value is on the fifth day,it then recovered to the pre operation level on the serventh day.After applying the exogenic bFGF,the positive immunoreactive cells in the experimental group,increased remarkably from the Ist day to the 3rd day after operation in contrast with the control group.The peak value is on the 3rd day which was two days earlier than that of the control group and the peak value of the experimental group is remarkably higher than that of the control group.Conclusion\ FGF R distributes in the stratum basal of epidermis,the vascular endothelial cells in the dermis and hypodermis,the fibroblasts,and the epithelial cells of the hair follicle and the sweat gland.In compaired with pre operation,the quantity of the positive immunoreactive cells of FGF R were increased gradually from the Ist day to fifth day after operation,and the peak value is on the fifth day.After applying the exogenic bFGF,the positive immunoreactive cells of FGF receptors were increased.\;[
