ABSTRACT

Dachengqi Decoction is a classic prescription attacked by Yangming excessive syndromes in clinic, which has the effects of relieving heat, softening and dispersing knots, etc., and is often used in the treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by various diseases. This article reviewed the recent studies on the chemical compositions and pharmacological effects of Dachengqi Decoction in recent years. On this basis, combined with the "five principles" of TCM quality markers, the quality markers of Dachengqi Decoction were predicted and analyzed. It is suggested that emodin, Rhein, chrysophanol, aloe-emodin, synephrine, hesperidin, naringin, magnolol and magnolol can be used as quality markers of Dachengqi Decoction.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the effect of mucosal ligament preservation on the outcome of arthroscopic repair of meniscus injury.Methods:A total of 77 patients with knee meniscus tears caused by sports injuries who underwent arthroscopic meniscus repair or suture in Zhengzhou Orthopaedic Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023, were retrospectively analyzed. Including 45 males and 32 females, aged 38.57±13.54 years (range, 52-87 years), body mass index 24.72±4.01 kg/m 2 (range, 34.14-13.61 kg/m 2). All patients complained of knee pain, limited activity and walking weakness. The symptoms were not relieved after 1 month of conservative treatment, which seriously affected daily work and life. According to the intraoperative treatment of mucosal ligament, the patients were divided into mucosal ligament preservation group and mucosal ligament removal group. The visual analogue score (VAS), Lysholm score, and total blood loss were compared between the two groups. Results:All patients successfully completed the operation and were followed up for an average of 5.23±2.16 months (range, 3-9 months). The operation time was 47.59±16.81 min in mucosal ligament preservation group and 45.25±15.93 min in mucosal ligament removal group, and there was no significant difference between the two groups ( t=0.628, P=0.532). The total blood loss in the mucosal ligament preservation group was 246±193 ml, which was less than 343±211 ml in the mucosal ligament removal group, and the difference was statistically significant ( t=2.095, P=0.040). None of the patients received allogeneic blood transfusion. The hematocrit of the mucosal ligament preservation group was 42.48%±4.57% before operation and 39.42%±4.65% on the third day after operation, while that of the mucosal ligament removal group was 41.24%±4.16% and 38.95%±3.80%. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( t=0.016, P=0.004; t=0.004, P=0.016). There was no significant difference between the two groups before operation and on the third day after operation ( t=0.217, P=0.545; t=0.629, P=0.159). The preoperative VAS score of mucosal ligament preservation group was 7.25±1.10, which was higher than that of 3 months after operation (0.83±1.06), and the difference was statistically significant ( t=0.062, P<0.001). The preoperative VAS score of mucosal ligament removal group was 7.16±1.21, which was higher than that of 3 months after operation (1.05±1.13), and the difference was statistically significant ( t=0.017, P<0.001). There was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups before operation and at 3 months after operation ( t=0.144, P=0.740; t= 0.273, P=0.603). The preoperative Lysholm score of mucosal ligament preservation group was 31.76±7.54, which was significantly lower than that of 3 months after operation 87.30±4.12 ( t=-39.329, P<0.001); The Lysholm score of the mucosal ligament removal group was 34.13±7.32 before operation, which was lower than 89.05±4.45 at 3 months after operation, and the difference was statistically significant ( t=-40.172, P<0.001); There was no significant difference in Lysholm score between the two groups before operation and 3 months after operation ( t=1.395, P=0.167; t=1.766, P=0.081). Conclusion:The preservation of mucosal ligament in arthroscopic surgery for meniscus injury does not prolong the operation time. It can reduce the total intraoperative blood loss, and the postoperative knee function recovery is similar to that of mucosal ligament removal.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the effect of scleral-fixated capsular tension ring(SFCTR)combined with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation in the treatment of traumatic lens subluxation.METHODS: A total of 14 patients(14 eyes)who underwent SFCTR combined with phacoemulsification and IOL implantation for traumatic lens subluxation from December 2018 to February 2023 were selected. Visual acuity, intraocular pressure, anterior segment photography, and ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM)were examined during postoperative follow-up. The location of IOL and postoperative complications were recorded.RESULTS: SFCTRs and IOLs were successfully implanted in all patients. The mean postoperative follow-up was 1.92±1.36 a. At the last follow-up, the uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA; 0.20±0.18 LogMAR)and corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA; 0.16±0.17 LogMAR)were significantly improved compared with the UDVA(1.13±0.56 LogMAR)preoperatively(P&#x003C;0.01). The intraocular pressure(17.64±3.67 mmHg)was lower than that before the operation(22.00±9.92 mmHg; P&#x003C;0.05). During the follow-up, the slit-lamp examination showed that the IOL was in the middle of the pouch. UBM examination showed that the CTR and IOL were located in the pouch, and the distance between the equatorial part of the pouch and the ciliary process was equal in all directions.CONCLUSION: The SFCTR combined with phacoemulsification and IOL implantation is an efficient and minimally invasive method in the treatment of traumatic lens subluxation.

ABSTRACT

Landfill is a predominant method for hazardous waste disposal in both developed and emerging economies due to simple disposal technology and wide applicability. The prediction of landfill lifespan during the design stage provides support for environmental management of hazardous waste landfill (HWL) and technical support for the implementation of national standards. It also provides guidance for necessary responses after the lifespan expires. At present, research on the degradation of main components or materials of HWLs has been paid much attention, however, how to predict the lifespan of HWLs is a big issue for researchers. In this study, the HWL was selected as research subject, and literature research, theoretical analysis, and model calculation, were used to establish a HWL lifespan prediction framework for the first time. Firstly, the HWL life was defined based on the functional characteristics; secondly, according to comprehensively analyzing the functional requirements, system composition, and structural characteristics of HWLs, the indicators of life termination and the thresholds were confirmed. Then, according to Failure Mode, Mechanism, and Effect Analysis (FMMEA), the failure modes of the core components affecting the lifespan of the HWLs were identified. Finally, a process simulation method (Hydrologic Evaluation of Landfill Performance, HELP) was proposed to simulate the performance degradation of the HWL, combined with the core performance parameters variation caused by the deterioration of the main functional unit. The life prediction framework was developed to increase the prediction accuracy of the performance degradation of HWLs and to provide a methodology for further research on HWL life prediction.

ABSTRACT

Cyanide residues weighing many millions of tons are disposed of in cyanide residue monofills (CRMs) worldwide. The degradation characteristics of cyanide in the anoxic environments of closed landfills may have been overestimated, leading to an underestimation of the long-term risk of cyanide residue landfills. To study the effect, a total of 387 cyanide residue samples were collected for analysis from nine closed CRMs in northen China that have been closed for more than 10 years. The study shows that the probability of achieving the target cyanide concentration (5 mg/L) in the nine sites was only 2.9%. And there is no significant reduction in the overall concentrations compared to the pre-closure period. The effectiveness of the CRM containment barrier needs to be maintained for at least 220 years to allow cyanide concentrations to degrade to harmless levels. Nine CRMs sites, except for CRMs A and B, had a low short-term risk, but in the long term exposure concentrations can exceed the groundwater Class III water quality limit by a factor of 1.64-30, posing a risk of groundwater contamination. This study reveals the risk of cyanide residue degradation in CRMs and its long-term evolution, providing theoretical support for site management and risk control.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the early curative effect of the new autologous semitendinosus ribbon-like graft in reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of 65 patients with knee ACL tear admitted to Zhengzhou Orthopedics Hospital from June 2019 to January 2021, including 52 males and 13 females, aged 16-50 years [(30.5±8.4)years]. According to the reconstruction method and graft selection, the patients were divided into ribbon-like reconstruction group ( n=31) and circular bundle reconstruction group ( n=34). All patients underwent anatomical ACL reconstruction using the new autologous semitendinosus ribbon-like graft in ribbon-like reconstruction group and the traditional circular bundle graft in circular bundle reconstruction group. The operation time, morphological difference in ACL graft immediately after surgery with original ACL, Lysholm score before and at 3 months after surgery, Lachman test and axial shift test immediately and at 3 months after surgery, and intraoperative and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results:All patients were followed up for 3-15 months [(6.0±3.1)months]. The operation time was (61.6±6.7)minutes in ribbon-like reconstruction group and was (48.0±6.3)minutes in circular bundle reconstruction group ( P<0.01). Under arthroscopic observation, the original ACL was ribbon-shaped in the joint, the graft in ribbon-like reconstruction group was also ribbon-like structure, the graft in circular bundle reconstruction group was bundle structure. Therefore, the grafts in ribbon-like reconstruction group better simulated the ribbon-like structure of the original ACL than those in circular bundle reconstruction group. The ribbon-like graft mimiced the natural twisting of the ACL when the knee was bent. Lysholm score was (82.8±5.2)points in ribbon-like reconstruction group at 3 months after surgery, significantly higher than (47.5±8.7)points before surgery ( P<0.01). Lysholm score was (79.9±7.5)points in circular bundle reconstruction group at 3 months after surgery, significantly higher than (44.2±9.4)points before surgery ( P<0.01). There were no significant differences in Lysholm score between the two groups before and at 3 months after surgery (all P>0.05). Lachman and axial shift tests were negative in both groups immediately and at 3 months after surgery. The ribbon-like reconstruction group showed breakage or wear of Kirschner wires in 4 patients and hollow drill deformation in 1 intraoperatively. The circular bundle reconstruction group showed wear of Kirschner wires in 2 patients intraoperativley. There was no significant difference in intraoperative complications between the two groups ( P>0.05). One patient experienced tibial incision infection in ribbon-like reconstruction group at 3 months after surgery. All wounds were healed at stage I with no incision infection in circular bundle reconstruction group. No patients had ligament failure or function limitation. There was no significant difference in postoperative complications between the two groups ( P>0.05). Conclusions:The clinical effect of new autogenous semitendinosus ribbon-like graft in ACL reconstruction is comparable to that of traditional circular bundle graft. However, arthroscopic observation reveals that the parenchymal part of the ribbon-like graft is ribbon-shaped, which better simulates the physiological morphology of the original ACL. The natural distortion of the simulated ACL during knee bend may better simulate the physiological function of the original ACL.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of 3 extracts of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus fruits on the proliferation and apoptosis of human hepatocarcinoma cells SMMC-7721,and to provide reference for confirming the mechanism of anti-tumor effect. METHODS:MTT assay was adopted to investigate the effects of low-mass concentration,medium-mass concentration and high-mass concentration of ethanol extract(0.92,1.84,3.68 mg/mL),crude polysaccharide extract(0.06,0.12,0.24 mg/mL)and refined polysaccharide extract (0.04, 0.08, 0.16 mg/mL) from A. sessiliflorus fruits on the proliferation and apoptosis of SMMC-7721 cells after treated for 24,36,48 h,respectively. Flow cytometry was used to investigate the effects of 1.84 mg/mL ethanol extract,0.24 mg/mL crude polysaccharide extract and 0.16 mg/mL refined polysaccharide extract on cell cycle and cell apoptosis after treated for 24 h. The above tests were all negative control(only adding cells without drugs). RESULTS:Compared with negative control,3 extracts of A. sessiliflorus fruits could significantly inhibit the proliferation of SMMC-7721 cells (P<0.01),could significantly decrease the percentage of SMMC-7721 cells in G0/G1 and G2/M phase(P<0.01),could significantly increase the percentage of SMMC-7721 cells in S phase (P<0.01) and the apoptosis rate of SMMC-7721 cells (P<0.05);especially the effects of ethanol extract from A. sessiliflorus fruits were the most obvious. CONCLUSIONS:Three extracts of A.sessiliflorus fruits can inhibit the proliferation of human hepatocarcinoma SMMC-7721 cells,block SMMC-7721 cells in S phase and induce the apoptosis of SMMC-7721 cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the clinical effect of surgical treatment for ankle osteoarthritis under arthroscopy.Methods Forty-eight cases with ankle osteoarthritis patients admitted at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Zhengzhou from January 2012 to June 2014 were selected and all of them were given the treatment of focal cleaning under arthroscopy.The clinical effect of surgical treatment were judged by modified McGuire ankle rating system,the United States after ankle surgery AOFAS ankle-full score and Mazur ankle rating system respectively.Results At the time of the last follow-up,modified McGuire ankle rating system((85.64±16.52)points vs.(52.46±10.25)points,t=-8.465),the United States after ankle surgery AOFAS ankle-full score [(85.24±11.46)points vs.(53.68±9.48)points,t=-7.548)and Mazur ankle rating system((86.45±12.57)points vs.(58.49±8.64)points,t=-6.596)all increased than that of pre-operation,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The modified McGuire ankle rating system of patients with low-grade lesion at pre-operation((62.45±7.63)points vs.(49.58±6.35)points,t=3.685)and the time of the last follow-up((93.68±11.54)points vs.(68.54±9.68)points,t=8.695)were all higher than that of patients with high-grade lesion,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The clinical effect of surgical treatment judged by modified McGuire ankle rating system,the United States after ankle surgery AOFAS ankle-full score and Mazur ankle rating system were respectively 91.67%(44/48),89.58%(43/48)and 89.58%(43/48),the differences were no statistically significant(x2=0.824,P>0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of surgical treatment for ankle osteoarthritis under arthroscopy is remarkable and it causes light damage to the body.It is especially suitable for patients with low-grade lesions and is worth popularization and application.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the influence of the stent position in transjugular intrahepatic left branch of portal vein portosystemic shunt (TILPS) on the long-term effect.Methods The clinical data of 527 patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding duo to portal hypertension,who were treated with TILPS during the the period from January 2012 to December 2014,were retrospectively analyzed.According to whether the stent was placed into the left branch of portal vein,the patients were divided into the study group (stent in the left branch of portal vein,n=318) and the control group (stent in the main portal vein,n=209).The success rate of surgery,the shunt channel flow dynamics,the stent patency rate,the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy,the rate of re-bleeding,etc.were compared between the two groups.Results The success rate of shunting operation was 100% in both groups.One year after the treatment,the blood velocity and flow parameters in the shunt channel of the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05).During the the follow-up period lasting for one year,the incidences of shunt channel dysfunction in the study group and in the control group were 1.26% (4/318) and 5.74% (12/209) respectively (P=0.003),the incidences of hepatic encephalopathy in the study group and in the control group were 0.31% (1/318) and 4.31% (9/209) respectively (P=0.001),and the incidences of re-bleeding in the study group and in the control group were 0.94% (3/318) and 2.87% (6/209) respectively (P=0.095).Conclusion During the performance of TIPS,the puncture of the left branch of portal vein and placement of the stent in the left branch of portal vein can reduce both the incidence of shunt channel dysfunction and the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Methicil in-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection had been a global problem up to 1980s, and it has become a leading pathogen giving rise to nosocomial infections now. OBJECTIVE:To determine the molecular types and drug susceptibilities of Staphylococcus aureus prevailed in burn ward, and to provide a basis for preventing and control ing MRSA intections. METHODS:A total of 53 Staphylococcus aureus strains were col ected from the burn ward in the Urumqi General Hospital of Lanzhou Military Region of Chinese PLA. These MRSA strains were identified by PCR and cefoxitin disc diffusion test, and al MRSA strains were typed by spa, SCCmec and MLST typing. In the meanwhile, antibiotic susceptibilities of 17 kinds of drugs, such as oxacil in, to Staphylococcus aureus were also determined, and drug resistance of different types of Staphylococcus aureus especial y MRSA, was analyzed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Among 53 Staphylococcus aureus strains, 43 were identified as MRSA, containing determined for amplification of meoA (n=41) and positive for cefoxitin disc diffusion test (n=2). Three SCCmec types, four spa types, and three ST types were found. The major predominant clone was ST239-MRSA-III-t030 (90.7%), with highest resistant to oxacil in and other nine antibiotics. In conclusion, the higher MRSA isolation rate from the burn ward, and ST239-MRSA-III-t030, as the predominant clone, presents with an outbreak in the burn ward and stronger resistance to many different families of antibiotics.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To compare the pharmacodynamics of active parts in crude Atractylodes lancea and A. lancea fired with bran. METHODS:170 rats were randomly divided into 17 groups,including blank control group,spleen and stomach damp obstruction model group,volatile oil of crude A. lancea and A. lancea fired with bran high-dose and low-dose(0.747,0.083 mg/ml by the concentration of crude medicinal materials,similarly hereinafter)groups,solvent control 2% polysorbate 80 group,dichlo-romethane extract of crude A. lancea and A. lancea fired with bran high-dose and low-dose groups,solvent control 1‰ polysorbate 80 group,n-butyl alcohol extract of crude A. lancea and A. lancea fired with bran high-dose and low-dose groups,solvent control stomach damp obstruction model distilled water control group. Except blank control group,other 16 groups were given Sennae foli-um decoction ig for 14 d to induce spleen and stomach damp obstruction model,and then received relevant medicine or solvent ig once a day for consecutive 7 d. Body weight of rats were determined before and after medication,and the serum levels of amylase, D-xylose,gastrin,vasoactive intestinal peptide and NO were determined after medication. RESULTS:Compared with spleen and stomach damp obstruction model group,the body weight and serum levels of gastrin,amylase and D-xylose increased significantly in rats of active part in A. lancea fired with bran groups(P<0.05),while vasoactive intestinal peptide and NO decreased signifi-cantly(P<0.05). Compared active part in crude A. lancea group,except the body weight,above indicators of active part in A. lan-cea fired with bran groups had greater change,with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:There are pharmacody-namic differences in the active parts between crude A. lancea and A. lancea fired with bran,the latter one is stronger.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) pretreatment at different times for heart arrest induced by bupivacaine poisoning in rats.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>With a randomized, blind, control study, 24 SD rats were divided into a control group, a EA for 60 min (EA 60) group and a EA for 30 min (EA 30) group, 8 cases in each one. Rats in the EA 60 group and EA 30 groups were treated with EA at bilateral "Neiguan" (PC 6), "Zusanli" (ST 36) and "Fenglong" (ST 40) for 60 min and 30 min respectively. While no treatment was given in the control group. Then rats were monitored by leadⅡelectrocardiograph; catheters were inserted into the femoral vein to open the vein access and into the carotis to monitor the arterial pressure. Three hours after EA, 10 mg/kg bupivacaine was injected through femoral vein. The mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were automatically recorded by PowerLab system. The time points when QRS widened by 20 percent and cardiac arrest and the survival rates were observed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>After the injection of bupivacaine, five rats in the EA 60 group caught cardiac arrest,while all the rats in the other two groups caught it. The survival rates were not statistically significant among the three groups (>0.05). The time of QRS widening by 20 percent in the EA 60 group was (87.4±14.8) s,which was longer than (63.6±14.2) s in the EA 30 group and (51.2±12.4) s in the control group (both<0.05). From injection of bupivacaine to cardiac arrest, the time of (375.3±23.7) s in the EA 60 group and that of (328.3±47.7)s in the EA 30 group were more than (235.5±91.5) s in the control group (both<0.05). After the injection, MAP and HR in the EA 60 group were higher than those in the EA 30 group and control group at most time points (all<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>EA pretreatment apparently decreases the vulnerability of bupivacaine-induced heart arrest, with better protective effect of 60 min pretreatment than that of 30 min.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effect of trimetazidine pretreatment on myocardial injury induced by propofol in rats.Methods Forty healthy Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 240-250 g,aged 2.5 months,were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =10 each):fat emulsion group (group L),propofol group (group P),and different doses of trimetazidine groups (TL and TH groups).In group L,10% fat emulsion was infused intravenously for 12 h at a rate of 30 mg·kg-1 ·h-1.In group P,1% propofol was infused intravenously for 12 h at a rate of 30 mg·kg-1 ·h-1.In TL and TH groups,trimetazidine 2 and 5 mg/kg were injected intravenously,respectively,and 1.5 h later propofol was infused intravenously for 12 h at a rate of 30 mg·kg-1 ·h-1.At 6 and 12 h after beginning of administration,blood samples from the internal jugular vein were taken for determination of the levels of serum creatine kinase (CK),creatine kinase isoenzyme-MB (CK-MB),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),α-hydroxybutyric acid dehydrogenase (α-HBDH),cardiac troponin Ⅰ (cTnⅠ),triglycerides (TG),low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL).After blood sampling at 12 h after beginning of administration,myocardial specimens were obtained for microscopic examination of the pathological changes with light and electron microscope.Results Compared with group L,the serum CK,CK-MB,LDH,α-HBDH,cTnⅠ and TG levels were significantly increased,HDL was decreased,and no significant changes were found in LDL concentrations in P and TL groups,and the serum TG,HDL and LDL were increased,and no significant changes were found in the other parameters in group TH.Compared with group P,the serum CK,CK-MB,LDH,α-HBDH,and cTnⅠ levels were significantly decreased in TL and TH groups,the serum TG level was increased in TL group,and the serum TG,HDL and LDL levels were increased in TH group.Compared with group TL,the serum CK,CK-MB,LDH,α-HBDH and cTnⅠ levels were significantly decreased,and the serum TG,HDL and LDL levels were increased in group TH.Conclusion Trimetazidine pretreatment can attenuate myocardial injury induced by propofol,but it induces increase in blood lipids.

Background It is determined that riboflavin/ultraviolet A (UVA)-induced corneal collagen crosslinking is able to increase resistance of cornea against enzymatic digestion and has antimicrobial efficacy for various kinds of bacteria in vitro.However,its in vivo study is less now.Objective This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of iontophoresis-mediated corneal collagen crosslinking combined with or without drugs for Staphylococcus aureus keratitis.Methods Bacterial keratitis models were induced by the interstromaly injection of Staphylococcus aureus suspension with concentration 2× 109/ml in the right eyes of 40 rabbits,and then the rabbits were randomly classified into the model group,gatifloxacin eye drops group,riboflavin/UVA corneal crosslinking group and drugs+ crosslinking group.The smearing of corneal surface was performed for the identification of bacteria 24 hours after injection.Iontophoresis-mediated riboflavin/UVA crosslinking was applied on the eyes of the riboflavin/UVA corneal crosslinking group and drugs+crosslinking group,and gatifloxacin eye drops was topically used 7 times per day on the eyes of the gatifloxacin eye drops group and drugs+crosslinking group.The corneal inflammation was examined and graded under the slit lamp biomicroscope before and after treatment.Ocular anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT),corneal histopathology and ultrastructure were examined 14 days after treatment.The living environment of the experimental animals was maintained at 21 ℃ with a 12-hour light and dark cycle.Animals used in this study were treated in accordance with the Weifang Medical College Animal Experimentation Ethic Committee (AEEC) guidelines.The study protocol was approved by the AEEC.Results Corneal inflammation and ulcer were observed,but no significant difference was found in the inflammatory grade among the 4 groups 24 hours after injection (x2=0.293,P>0.05).In the 14th day after injection,the corneal ulcer area was smaller and corneal edema was milder in the drugs+crosslinking group compared with the model group,gatifloxacin eye drops group and riboflavin/ UVA corneal crosslinking group,showing a significant difference in the inflammatory grade among them (x2 =38.710,P<0.001).The cornea thickness values of ulcer zone were (428.1 ± 146.2) μm on the 14th postinjected day in the drugs+crosslinking group,which was evidently higher than those in the model group,gatifloxacin eye drops group and riboflavin/UVA corneal crosslinking group,with a significant difference among the 4 groups (F =8.310,P<0.001).A lower degree of destruction of cornea collagen and less inflammatory cells were seen in the cornea tissue of the drugs+ crosslinking group by haematoxylin and eosin staining in comparison with other 3 groups,and normal keratocytes were much more in the drugs + crosslinking group than those in other treated groups.Conclusions Iontophoresismediated corneal collagen crosslinking can alleviate Staphylococcus aureus keratitis.The combination of crosslinking with drugs has a better effectiveness than the administration of gatifloxacin eye drops only or riboflavin/UVA corneal crosslinking only.

ABSTRACT

Objective To determine the content of sophocarpine, matrine, oxysophocarpine, sophoridine, oxymatrine in Sophora Flavescentis Radix from different areas. Methods Agilent ZORBAX NH2 column (4.6 mm×150 mm, 5 μm) was used with mobile phase of acetonitrile-ethanol-3% phosphate (84∶10∶6), at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The wavelength of detection was 210 nm. Results The linear range of sophocarpine, matrine, oxysophocarpine, sophoridine and oxymatrine were 0.022 88-0.114 4 μg (r=0.999 7), 0.083 2-0.416 0 μg (r=0.999 7), 0.376 2-1.836 0 μg (r=0.999 8), 0.104 4-0.522 μg (r=0.999 2), 0.491 2-2.456 μg (r=0.999 9), respectively. The average recovery were 101.63% (RSD=2.08%), 98.29%(RSD=1.87%), 101.89% (RSD=1.97%), 99.87% (RSD=2.06%), 102.66% (RSD=1.34%), respectively. Conclusion The method is simple, rapid and accurate, and suitable for the quality control of Sophorae Flavescentis Radix.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To explore the surgical feasibility and clinical outcome of pedicle screw instrument for treatment of irreducible atlantoaxial dislocation and to choose an effective method of internal fixation.[Method]From June 2003 to February 2009,14 pationts with atlas dislocation followed by upper cervical cord compression were treated surgically with oral anterior soft tissue release combined with posterior reduction and pedicle screw instrument.Preoperative CT,MRI and radiographs as well as intraoperative screw placement and bone graft were administered in all pationts.Only cervical collars were used as external support for 3 months in occipitocervical fusion.[Result]All screws were successfully placed in atlas and axis.Forteen patients were followed up for an average of 18 months.Bone fusion was achieved in all cases with no complications of nerve,internal fixation failure and redislocation.Neurological recovery was significantly improved in 12 cases and took a turn for better in 2 cases.[Conclusion]Pedicle screw instrument in atlas and axis has the advantages of direct screw placement,short-segment fusion,intraoperative reduction and high fusion rate.It is a better alternative for atlantoaxial dislocation.
