ABSTRACT

It was examined the zinc level in the rats teeth using atomic absorption spectrometry. The animals received hydrocortisone or hydrocortisone with calcium and vitamin A + D3 or hydrocortisone with calcitonin, through 4 and 8 weeks. These results were compared with the control group. It was shown the decrease of zinc level in the rats teeth after 4 weeks of corticoidotherapy. The other drugs administered with hydrocortisone caused the increase of zinc concentration in the teeth. The results of the studies suggest that hydrocortisone induced the zinc mobilization from the hard teeth tissues of rats.

ABSTRACT

The object of the study were some herbs and preparations of herbs used by children and adults from Lublin's drug-stores and herbal-stores in 2001. The samples of herbs, preparations of herbs and their infusions after evaporation were mineralized in "dry" method in the temp. of 450 degrees C. Cadmium and lead contents were estimated by AAS method from the organic phase. In preparations for children, 56% of the examined samples contained Cd amounts exceeding accepted limits. Levels of Pb were innormal. In herbs and herbal preparations for adults the norm was exceeded in 70% of samples for Cd and 42% for Pb.

ABSTRACT

Azodyes, derivatives of 1,2,4-triazole and pyrocatechine: 3-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenylazo-1')-1,2,4-triazole (TRIAP) and 3-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenylazo-1')-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (METRIAP), were used for spectrophotometric determination of Al. in composite pharmaceutical preparations. In aqueous-methanolic solution at pH 6.20-6.50 Al ions form stabile, orange chelates. Molar ratio L:Al. is 2:1 (TRIAP) or 3:1 (METRIAP) and stability constants, expressed by log K, are 12,604 (METRIAP) and 8,440 (TRIAP). Other components of these preparations, particularly Mg, do not disturb Al determination. The determination results were statistically calculated and compared with those obtained by the method of atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). The advantage of the developed method is easy synthesis of reagents, simple analytical procedure, stability of formed complexes, good reproducibility and accuracy of results. Using TRIAP or METRIAP the elaborated spectrophotometric method is more accurate than AAS method, for defined purpose.

ABSTRACT

New complex-forming azodyes were synthesized: 2-amine-5-(2',4'-dihydroxy-5'-carboxyphenylazo-1')-1,3,4-thiadiazol (ATIDAREZ-beta) and 2-amine-5-(2',4'-dihydroxy-3-carboxyphenylazo-1')-1,3,4-thiadiazol (ATIDAREZ-gamma). Absorbance maximum of methanol solution occurs at lambda = 230 and 440 nm and the molar absorbance coefficient E(lambdamax) = 8000 and 25,000, respectively (ATIDAREZ-beta); lambda = 240 and 440 nm and E(lambdamax) = 10,200 and 21,600, respectively (ATIDAREZ-gamma). The determined dissociation constants--higher values for ATIDAREZ-gamma than for ATIDAREZ-beta--indicate a stronger interaction of -OH and -COOH group positioned (to ortho -COOH) side by side (of spectra IR analysis)--intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds (association). In reaction with metal ions the formation of chelate compounds with Fe3+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ was stated for ATIDAREZ-beta; Co2+, Cu2+ and Ni2+ with ATIDAREZ-gamma at the L:M molar ratio of 1:1, when M = Cu2+ (for ATIDAREZ-beta and gamma) and M = Ni2+ (for ATIDAREZ-gamma) or 2:1 for Co2+, Fe2+, Fe3+ and Ni2+ (ATIDAREZ-beta) and Co2+ (ATIDAREZ-gamma). ATIDAREZ-gamma complexes with Co2+ and Cu2+ and Ni2+ are more stable than that of ATIDAREZ-beta (except Ni2+ complex). The obtained results of determinations were compared with that of azodyes of the following series: 2-amine-1,3,4-thiadiazole (ATIDAN, ATIDAN-6S, ATIDAK, ATIDAR, ATIDAP), 1,3,4-thiadiazole (TIDAREZ-beta and gamma), benzimidazole (BIAREZ-beta and gamma).
