ABSTRACT

The authors describe the causes and surgical methods of treatment of fresh and long-standing dislocations and fracture-dislocations in the elbow joint. The indications to using different operative methods and technical-surgical interventions are described in details as well as long-term results of treatment by the literature data. The current methods and the authors' methods of prophylactics and treatment of postoperative complications are analyzed. The methods of rehabilitation of such patients are also described.

ABSTRACT

The intra-articular comminuted fractures of the condyle of the Cii and Ciii types (by AO classification) were modeled in cadaverous humeral bones of the distal end of the humerus. Mechanical tests of the fixing properties of Y-shaped whole and combined plates as well as of two plates adapted to the fractures were performed by the method recommended by AO. The stabilizing properties of the whole Y-shaped plate were found to be the best. A more simple operative technique and less traumaticity with sufficiently optimal fixing properties as compared with the AO method allows osteosynsthesis with the Y-shaped plate to be considered preferable.
