ABSTRACT

To achieve real-time phase detection, this paper presents a fast and precise spatial carrier phase-shifting interferometry based on the dynamic mode decomposition strategy. The algorithm initially produces a series of phase-shifted sub-interferograms with the aid of a spatial carrier interferogram. Subsequently, the measured phases are derived with great accuracy from these sub-interferograms through the use of the dynamic mode decomposition strategy, an outstanding non-iterative algorithm. Numerical simulation and experimental comparison show that this method is an efficient and accurate single-frame phase demodulation algorithm. The paper also analyzes the performance of the proposed method based on influencing factors such as random noise level, carrier frequency size, and carrier frequency direction. The results indicate that this method is a fast and accurate phase solution method, offering another effective solution for dynamic real-time phase measurement.

ABSTRACT

Trehalose is a reducing disaccharide, acting as a protectant against various environmental stresses in numerous organisms. In plants, trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) plays a crucial role in trehalose biosynthesis. Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl. is a prominent species of the Anoectochilus genus, widely utilized as a health food. However, the functional analysis of TPS in this species has been limited. In this study, TPS genes were cloned from A. roxburghii. The ArTPS gene, with an open reading frame spanning 2850 bp, encodes 950 amino acids. Comparative and bioinformatics analysis revealed that the homology was presented between the ArTPS protein and TPSs from other plant species. The ORF sequence was utilized to construct a prokaryotic expression vector, Pet28a-ArTPS, which was then transformed into Escherichia coli. The resulting transformants displayed a significant increase in salt tolerance under the stress conditions of 300 mmol/L NaCl. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that the expression of ArTPS genes responded to NaCl stress. The accumulation of G6P was upregulated, whereas the content of T6P exhibited an opposite expression trend. The glycometabolism products, including trehalose, exhibited notable changes under NaCl stress, although their variations may differ in response to stimulation. The content of kinsenoside, a characteristic product of A. roxburghii, was significantly upregulated under NaCl stress. These results suggest that the ArTPS genes function in response to NaCl stimulation and play a key role in polysaccharide and glycoside metabolism in Anoectochilus. This study provides new insights into the engineering modification of the health food A. roxburghii to enhance the medicinal activity of its ingredients.

ABSTRACT

In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Stibochiona nicea (Gray, 1846) (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) was first reported with 15,298 bp in size, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes (rrnL and rrnS), and one control region. The nucleotide composition of the entire mitogenome is highly A + T biased (81.5%). The gene content and arrangement of the newly sequenced mitogenome are identical to those of the other available mitogenomes of Nymphalidae. All PCGs start with the conventional ATN codons, except for cox1 initiating with atypical CGA(R). Nine PCGs (atp8, atp6, cox3, nad1, nad2, nad3, nad4l, nad6, and cob) utilize a typical stop codon TAA, whereas the remaining PCGs (cox1, cox2, nad4, and nad5) end with an incomplete stop codon T-. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that S. nicea is closely related to Dichorragia nesimachus within Pseudergolinae, which further forms the sister group to the grouping of (Nymphalinae + (Cyrestinae + (Biblidinae + Apaturinae))). The complete mitogenome of S. nicea will provide useful genetic information for improving the taxonomic system and phylogenetics of Nymphalidae.

ABSTRACT

Sedative and analgesic drugs are commonly used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Analyzing the impact of these drugs on the prognosis of cancer patients can help improve patient outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the use of propofol, benzodiazepines, and opioids on the survival of cancer patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) based on the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III (MIMIC-III) database. A total of 2,567 cancer patients from the MIMIC-III database between 2001 and 2012 were included in this retrospective cohort study. Logistic regression analyses were utilized to assess the relationship between propofol, benzodiazepine, and opioid and survival in cancer patients. The follow-up was 1 year from the patient's first admission to the ICU. Outcomes were ICU mortality, 28-day mortality, and 1-year mortality. Stratified analyses were based on patients' metastatic status. The use of propofol [odds ratio (OR) = 0.66; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.53-0.80] and opioids (OR = 0.65; 95%CI, 0.54-0.79) were associated with a decreased risk of 1-year mortality. Both benzodiazepines and opioids use were related to an increased risk of ICU mortality and 28-day mortality (all P < 0.05), whereas propofol use was associated with a decreased risk of 28-day mortality (OR = 0.59; 95%CI, 0.45-0.78). Compared with the use of benzodiazepines combined with opioids, patients who used propofol and opioids were related to a decreased risk of 1-year mortality (OR = 0.74; 95%CI, 0.55-0.98). Similar results were found in patients with metastasis and metastasis-free. Cancer patients who used propofol may experience a lower risk of mortality than benzodiazepine use.

ABSTRACT

To obtain higher phase accuracy with less computation time in phase-shifting interferometry, a random phase-shifting algorithm based on principal component analysis and least squares iteration (PCA&LSI) is proposed. The algorithm does not require pre-filtering, and only requires two-frame phase-shifted interferograms and less computation time to obtain a relatively accurate phase distribution. This method can still extract the phase with high precision when there are few fringes in the interferogram. Moreover, it eliminates the limitation that the PCA algorithm needs more than three frames of interferograms with uniform phase shift distribution to accurately extract the phase. Numerical simulations and experiments confirm that the method is suitable for complex situations with different fluctuations in background intensity and modulation amplitude. And it can still achieve accurate phase extraction compared with other methods under different noise conditions.

ABSTRACT

The pursuit of high-precision and high-efficiency phase recovery methods has been a research focus of interferometric technology. We propose a dual-frame phase-shifting interferogram phase recovery technique based on normalization of the first-order norm. A set of sine and cosine components is constructed by the addition and subtraction of dual-frame interferograms. Then the first-order norm normalization method is employed to achieve vector orthogonality. The phase distribution is then obtained through the arctangent operation. State-of-the-art dual-frame phase recovery techniques are evaluated, and it shows that the first-order norm normalization method outperforms the second-order norm normalization method. Especially in terms of computational efficiency, the method using the first-order norm is at least 50% more efficient than other methods.

ABSTRACT

Gram-Schmidt (GS) orthogonal normalization is a fast and efficient two-frame fringe phase demodulation method. However, the precision of the GS method is limited due to the residual background terms and noise, as well as several approximation operations in the GS method. To obtain a phase map with higher accuracy, we propose an algorithm combining GS orthogonal normalization and least squares iterative (LSI) phase shift algorithm (GS&LSI). In our method, the phase was first obtained using GS method, and then a refinement operation using LSI was adopted to get the final wrapped phase map. Because of the LSI process, the demodulation result is greatly improved in many cases. Simulation and experimental result are presented to validate the potential of the proposed method.

ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a new interferometric method to measure the phase modulation characteristics of a liquid crystal spatial light modulator (LC-SLM). In our proposed method, the beam was incident perpendicular to the SLM and the combined grayscale pattern loaded into the SLM consisted of three parts. The left part was a blazed diffraction grating, and the two right parts were grayscale with different constant values. The gray value in the downward section remained constant at zero, while it gradually increased from 0 to 255 in the upward section. By changing the gray value of the combined grayscale loaded on the LC-SLM, different sheared fringe patterns, generated by the interference between the constant phase-modulated beam and the +1 order diffracted beam of the blazed grating, could be obtained. The phase modulation value could then be calculated using only one sheared fringe pattern. As a result, our proposed method can reduce the effect of environmental vibration or air turbulence and improve measurement precision. The experimental results are presented to validate the method's potential.
