ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Previous studies have indicated that there is an association between cervical cerclage and type of suture material. However, it is still unclear which suture material can provide the greatest benefit to patients who have undergone cerclage. This study investigated the effect of two different suture materials (Mersilene tape vs braided suture) used for transvaginal cervical cerclage placement on maternal outcomes of women with cervical insufficiency. METHODS: In this retrospective case-control study, 170 women who underwent history-, ultrasound-, or physical examination-indicated transvaginal cervical cerclage were categorized according to suture materials used for cerclage: a total of 96 received Mersilene tape and 74 received braided suture. Study participants received a transvaginal cervical cerclage before 28 weeks and were followed up until delivery to assess pregnancy and neonatal outcomes. The primary outcome was gestational age at delivery. Secondary outcomes included preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), premature rupture of membranes (PROM), chorioamnionitis, neonatal survival rate, and neonatal morbidity. RESULTS: Out of 170 eligible women, 74 (43.5%) received braided suture while 96 (56.5%) received Mersilene tape. Baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups. The group that received braided suture had a lower incidence of gestational age at delivery <37 weeks (29.2% vs 54.2%, P = 0.046), PPROM (9.5% vs 21.9%, P = 0.029) and PROM (17.6% vs 32.3%, P = 0.028) compared to the group that received Mersilene tape. However, there were no significant differences between the two groups in average gestational age at delivery, the rate of gestational age at delivery <24, <28, <32, and < 34 weeks, chorioamnionitis, and neonatal survival rate, as well as neonatal morbidity. CONCLUSION: Compared to Mersilene tape, the utilization of braided suture has been significantly associated with a reduction in the incidence of gestational age at delivery <37 weeks, as well as a decreased risk of PPROM and PROM. However, the use of braided sutures did not result in discernible differences in the rates of chorioamnionitis or adverse neonatal outcomes.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: To examine the visual outcomes, particularly at 33 cm, and assess patient satisfaction following the implantation of a diffractive trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) and its toric variant. Patients and Methods: This prospective single-arm observational study involved 45 Chinese patients (90 eyes) underwent bilateral cataract surgery and PanOptix or PanOptix toric intraocular lenses (IOLs) implantation. Postoperatively, visual acuity was evaluated at various distances, including 40 cm and 33 cm, for both monocular and binocular outcomes. Patient satisfaction was evaluated using the VF-14 questionnaire. Results: 72 eyes underwent PanOptix IOLs implantation, and 18 eyes received PanOptix toric IOLs. At 3-month postoperative mark, the mean monocular UDVA, UIVA, and UNVA at 40 cm and 33 cm were -0.02±0.09, 0.00±0.07, 0.02±0.07, and 0.07±0.14 logMAR, respectively, with proportions of visual acuity exceeding 0.1 logMAR were 96.7%, 96.7%, 94.4%, and 74.4%, respectively. The mean binocular UDVA, UIVA, and UNVA at 40 cm and 33 cm were -0.05±0.06, -0.03±0.05, 0.00±0.05, and 0.04±0.07 logMAR, respectively, with proportions of visual acuity exceeding 0.1 logMAR were 97.8%, 100.0%, 100.0%, and 91.1%, respectively. When the near point shifted from 40cm to 33cm, some patients showed a decline for UDVA, but the average reduction was less than one line. The overall VF-14 questionnaire score was 4.02±4.19. Conclusion: PanOptix can provide Chinese patients with a full range of satisfying visual acuity, near to 33cm. Though the visual acuity of some patients at 33 cm did not match the level at 40 cm, the gap of one line may not carry clinical significant.

ABSTRACT

Anomalous origin of the coronary artery (AOCA) in coronary arteries represent a rare congenital variation, especially when three or more openings coexist, accompanied by conditions such as myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, and severe stenosis in three vessels, making it even rarer. This study reports a rare case of a patient admitted for the first time with acute myocardial infarction. Coronary angiography revealed four openings, along with the aforementioned rare conditions. Guided by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), treatments were administered for different lesions in various vessels. IVUS confirmed a rare case with a 1 mm extremely short left main coronary artery and three openings. The two-year follow-up results for this patient are deemed satisfactory, indicating a favorable prognosis.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between a short-period, high-dose in utero aspirin exposure and child neurocognitive development. DESIGN: A propensity score-matched analysis of a multicentre prospective cohort study. SETTING: The US Collaborative Perinatal Project (1959-1976). POPULATION: A total of 50 565 singleton live births with maternal information. METHODS: We performed a propensity score matching to balance maternal characteristics between women with and without aspirin exposure. Inverse probability-weighted marginal structural models were used to estimate associations between aspirin exposure and child neurocognitive assessments. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Child neurocognitive development was assessed using the Bayley Scales at 8 months, the Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale at 4 years, and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale and Wide-Range Achievement Test (WRAT) at 7 years. RESULTS: Children exposed to aspirin in utero were associated with an 8%-16% reduced risk of having suspect/abnormal or below-average scores in most neurocognitive assessments. A trend of lower risks of having suspect/abnormal or below-average scores was further observed in children with in utero aspirin exposure for more than 7 days, particularly on Bayley Mental (relative risk [RR] 0.82, 95% CI 0.74-0.92), WRAT Reading (RR 0.88, 95% CI 0.78-0.98) and WRAT Arithmetic tests (RR 0.76, 95% CI 0.66-0.86). This association was mainly observed in the second trimester of pregnancy. CONCLUSIONS: In utero aspirin exposure was associated with improved child neurocognitive development in a prospective cohort study. Further studies are warranted to evaluate the impact of long-period and low-dose in utero aspirin exposure on child short- and long-term neurodevelopment.

BACKGROUND: High-grade B-cell lymphoma (HGBL) is an unusual malignancy that includes myelocytomatosis viral oncogene (MYC), B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2), and/or BCL-6 rearrangements, termed double-hit or triple-hit lymphomas, and HGBL-not otherwise specific (HGBL-NOS), which are morphologically characteristic of HGBL but lack MYC, BCL-2, or BCL-6 rearrangements. HGBL is partially transformed by follicular lymphoma and other indolent lymphoma, with few cases of marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) transformation. HGBL often has a poor prognosis and intensive therapy is currently mainly advocated, but there is no good treatment for these patients who cannot tolerate chemotherapy. CASE SUMMARY: We reported a case of MZL transformed into HGBL-NOS with TP53 mutation and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase expression. Gene analysis revealed the gene expression profile was identical in the pre- and post-transformed tissues, suggesting that the two diseases are homologous, not secondary tumors. The chemotherapy was ineffective and the side effect was severe, so we tried combination therapy including venetoclax and obinutuzumab. The patient tolerated treatment well, and reached partial response. The patient had recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma and died of multifunctional organ failure. He survived for 12 months after diagnosis. CONCLUSION: Venetoclax combined with obinutuzumab might improve the survival in some HGBL patients, who are unsuitable for chemotherapy.

ABSTRACT

Background: To explore the hub gene closely related to the progression of gastric cancer (GC), so as to provide a theoretical basis for revealing the therapeutic mechanism of GC. Methods: The gene expression profile and clinical data of GSE15459 in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were downloaded. The weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to screen the key modules related to GC progression. Survival analysis was used to assess the influence of hub genes on patients' outcomes. CIBERSORT analysis was used to predict the tissue infiltrating immune cells in patients. Immunohistochemical staining was conducted to further verify the expression of hub genes. Results: Through WGCNA, a total of 26 co-expression modules were constructed, in which salmon module and royalblue module had strong correlation with GC progression. The results of enrichment analysis showed that genes in the two modules were mainly involved in toll-like receptor signaling pathway, cholesterol metabolism and neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction. Six hub genes (C1QA, C1QB, C1QC, FCER1G, FPR3 and TYROBP) related to GC progression were screened. Survival analysis showed overall survival in the high expression group was significantly lower than that in the low expression group. CIBERSORT analysis revealed that immune characteristics difference between patients in early stage and advanced stage. Immunohistochemical results confirmed that C1QB, FCER1G, FPR3 and TYROBP were significantly associated with disease progression in GC. Conclusion: Our study identified that C1QB, FCER1G, FPR3 and TYROBP played important roles in the progression of GC, and their specific mechanisms are worth further study.

ABSTRACT

Understanding proton transfer (PT) dynamics in condensed phases is crucial in chemistry. We computed a 2D map of N 1s X-ray photoelectron/absorption spectroscopy (XPS/XAS) for an organic donor-acceptor salt crystal against two varying N-H distances to track proton motions. Our results provide a continuous spectroscopic mapping of O-H···N↔O-··· H+-N processes via hydrogen bonds at both nitrogens, demonstrating the sensitivity of N 1s transient XPS/XAS to hydrogen positions and PT. By reducing the O-H length at N1 by only 0.2 Å, we achieved excellent theory-experiment agreement in both XPS and XAS. Our study highlights the challenge in refining proton positions in experimental crystal structures by periodic geometry optimizations and proposes an alternative scaled snapshot protocol as a more effective approach. This work provides valuable insights into X-ray spectra for correlated PT dynamics in complex crystals, benefiting future experimental studies.

ABSTRACT

Exosomes, as novel biomarker for liquid biopsy, exhibit huge important potential value for cancer diagnosis. However, various proteins show different expression levels on exosomal membrane, and the absolute concentration of exosomes in clinical samples is easily influenced by a number of factors. Here, we developed a CRISPR/Cas12a and aptamer-chemiluminescence based analysis (CACBA) for the relative abundance determination of tumor-related protein positive exosomes in plasma for breast cancer diagnosis. The total concentration of exosomes was determined through captured CD63 using a CRISPR/Cas12a-based method with the LoD of 8.97 × 103 particles/µl. Meanwhile, EpCAM and MUC1 positive exosomes were quantitatively detected by aptamer-chemiluminescence (ACL) based method with the LoD of 1.45 × 102 and 3.73 × 102 particles/µl, respectively. It showed that the percentages of EpCAM and MUC1 positive exosomes offered an excellent capability to differentiate breast cancer patients and healthy donors. The high sensitivity, strong specificity, outstanding anti-interference capability, and steady recovery rate of this approach offered higher accuracy and robustness than the commercialized method in clinical trial. In addition with good stability, easy preparation and low cost, this method not only provides a new approach to rapid analysis of exosome proteins, it may be quickly extended to the diagnoses of various cancers.

ABSTRACT

RESEARCH QUESTION: Does vitamin D affect the pregnancy rate of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) receiving ovulation-induction therapy? DESIGN: The retrospective study included 200 patients with PCOS and 200 healthy women. The prospective study included 160 patients with PCOS receiving vitamin D or placebo supplementation. Pregnancy rates were assessed after a maximum of three cycles of ovulation induction. Serum concentrations of 25-hydroxycalciferol [25-(OH)D3], LH, FSH, progesterone, oestradiol, testosterone and fasting insulin; LH/FSH ratio; and body mass index were evaluated. RESULTS: In the retrospective study, patients with PCOS had lower 25-(OH)D3 concentrations than healthy women, pregnant patients with PCOS had higher 25-(OH)D3 concentrations than non-pregnant patients with PCOS (both P = 0.000), and the pregnancy rate was lower in the vitamin-D-deficient group compared with the non-vitamin-D-deficient group (P = 0.022). In the prospective study, compared with placebo supplementation, vitamin D supplementation increased the serum concentration of 25-(OH)D3 (P = 0.000), and reduced the LH/FSH ratio, and concentrations of LH and testosterone significantly (all P ≤ 0.049). After the intervention, it was found that the LH/FSH ratio, and concentrations of LH and testosterone were significantly lower in both groups compared with pre-intervention (P = 0.000). After ovulation induction, the pregnancy rate was higher in patients in the vitamin D supplementation group compared with the placebo supplementation group (P = 0.049). CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D deficiency is common in patients with PCOS, and vitamin-D-deficient patients with PCOS have lower pregnancy rates after ovulation induction compared with non-vitamin-D-deficient patients with PCOS. Vitamin D supplementation can improve the pregnancy rate and mitigate basic hormone disorders. Therefore, monitoring vitamin D supplementation and checking vitamin D concentrations before and during interventions are essential for patients with PCOS.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The benefits of thrombolytic therapy before endovascular thrombectomy in cases of acute ischaemic stroke, with a large infarction volume, remain unclear. This analysis aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of bridging therapy and endovascular therapy among patients with large cerebral infarctions. METHODS: In this post-hoc analysis of the multicentre prospective study of ANGEL-ASPECT (Acute Anterior Circulation Large Vessel Occlusive Patients with a Large Infarct Core), participants were divided into two groups: an endovascular therapy group and a bridging therapy group. The primary outcome was the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score at 90 days. The primary safety outcome was symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage. Ordinal logistic regression was performed to compare the primary endpoint between the two groups. Subgroup analyses were conducted to further explore potential risk factors associated with the outcomes. RESULTS: 122 patients were included, of whom 77 (63%) underwent endovascular therapy and 45 (37%) underwent bridging therapy. The median scores on mRS at 90 days of the bridging therapy group and the endovascular therapy group were 3 (2-5) and 4 (2-6), with no significant differences (common OR 1.36; 95% CI 0.71 to 2.61). Symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage was reported in three patients who were in the endovascular and bridging therapy groups (relative risk (RR) 1.71; 95% CI 0.36 to 8.12). The mortality between two groups did not differ (RR 0.75; 95% CI 0.37 to 1.54). CONCLUSIONS: Our study indicated that endovascular therapy alone might be a viable option for patients with large cerebral infarctions, displaying no noticeable disparity in outcomes compared with bridging therapy.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) represent a class of covalently closed, single-stranded RNAs and have been linked to cancer progression. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation is a ubiquitous RNA modification in cancer cells. Increasing evidence suggests that m6A can mediate the effects of circRNAs in cancer biology. In contrast, the post-transcriptional systems of m6A and circRNA in the progression of endometrial cancer (EC) remain obscure. The current study identified a novel circRNA with m6A modification, hsa_circ_0084582 (circCHD7), which was upregulated in EC tissues. Functionally, circCHD7 was found to promote the proliferation of EC cells. Mechanistically, circCHD7 interacted with insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein (IGF2BP2) to amplify its enrichment. Moreover, circCHD7 increased the mRNA stability of platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGFRB) in an m6A-dependent manner, thereby enhancing its expression. In addition, the circCHD7/IGF2BP2/PDGFRB axis activated the JAK/STAT signaling pathway and promoted EC cell proliferation. In conclusion, these findings provide new insights into the regulation of circRNA-mediated m6A modification, and the new "circCHD7-PDGFRB" model of regulation offers new perspectives on circCHD7 as a potential target for EC therapy.

Bamboo is one of the most important nontimber forestry products in the world. Light is not only the most critical source of energy for plant photosynthesis but also involved in regulating the biological processes of plants. However, there are few reports on how blue/red light affects Moso bamboo. This study investigated the growth status and physiological responses of Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) to blue/red light treatments. The growth status of the bamboo plants was evaluated, revealing that both blue- and red-light treatments promoted plant height and overall growth. Gas exchange parameters, chlorophyll fluorescence, and enzyme activity were measured to assess the photosystem response of Moso bamboo to light treatments. Additionally, the blue light treatment led to a higher chlorophyll content and enzyme activities compared to the red light treatment. A tandem mass tag quantitative proteomics approach identified significant changes in protein abundance under different light conditions with specific response proteins associated with distinct pathways, such as photosynthesis and starch metabolism. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the physiological and proteomic responses of Moso bamboo to blue/red light treatments, highlighting their potential impact on growth and development.

ABSTRACT

The yak, a unique species of cattle found exclusively on the western plateau of China, is a valuable source of livelihood for local residents. However, their low fecundity restricts the expansion of yak farming, whereas regional factors limit studies on yak breeding. Granulosa cells (GCs), which provide essential steroid hormones and growth factors for oocytes, have been the focus of many studies on the mechanisms of follicular growth and atresia. This study aimed to establish an immortalized cell line model that could serve as a tool for future studies on the mechanisms of ovarian follicle development in yaks. First, we isolated primary yak granulosa cells (yGCs) and evaluated their replicative senescence after continuous in vitro subculturing. Subsequently, an immortalized culture method for primary yGC was explored, and a new cell line model was established to study the mechanism of follicular development in vitro. We used a mammalian gene expression lentivirus vector to transfer the simian virus 40 large T antigen (SV40T) into primary yGC to obtain an immortalized cell line. The immortalized yGCs were morphologically identical to the primary yGCs, and cell proliferation and growth were normal within a limited number of generations. Follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR), a specific marker for GCs, was positively expressed in immortalized yGCs. Furthermore, the immortalized yGCs retained the ability of GCs to synthesize estradiol and progesterone and expressed genes related to steroid synthesis. The establishment of immortalized yGC opens up a myriad of possibilities for advancing our understanding of yak reproductive biology and improving yak breeding strategies.

In order to explore the in vivo anti-food allergy activity of Lactobacillus sakei subsp. sakei-fermented Eucheuma spinosum polysaccharides F1-ESP-3, an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced food allergy mouse model was established by ascites immunization and gavage. The weight, temperature, incidence of diarrhea, levels of allergic mediators and inflammatory factors in the serum of mice were analyzed. We analyzed the differentiation of mouse spleen lymphocytes and the proportion of sensitized mast cells by flow cytometry. The intestinal barrier status of mice was analyzed by intestinal pathological tissue sections and microbiota sequencing. The results showed that F1-ESP-3 could alleviate the food allergy symptoms of mice, such as hypothermia and loose stool; levels of OVA-specific immunoglobulin E, mast cell protease and histamine in the serum of sensitized mice and the proportion of dendritic cells and mast cells in mouse spleen were significantly reduced; in addition, F1-ESP-3 may protect the intestinal barrier and further improve the intestinal microenvironment of food-allergic mice by regulating the abundance of Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes. F1-ESP-3 can further improve the intestinal microenvironment of food-allergic mice by upregulating the levels of Lachnospiraceae, and may affect the signal pathways such as NOD-like receptor, MAPK, I kappa B and antigen processing and presentation.

ABSTRACT

Among various electrocatalysts, high-entropy alloys (HEAs) have gained significant attention for their unique properties and excellent catalytic activity in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, the precise synthesis of HEA catalysts in small sizes remains challenging, which limits further improvement in their catalytic performance. In this study, boron- and nitrogen-doped HEA porous carbon nanofibers (HE-BN/PCNF) with an in situ-grown dendritic structure were successfully prepared, inspired by the germination and growth of tree branches. Furthermore, the dendritic fibers constrained the growth of HEA particles, leading to the synthesis of quantum dot-sized (1.67 nm) HEA particles, which also provide a pathway for designing HEA quantum dots in the future. This work provides design ideas and guiding suggestions for the preparation of borated HEA fibers with different elemental combinations and for the application of dendritic nanofibers in various fields.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is widely recognized for its propensity for early and frequent metastases, which contribute to its status as a refractory malignancy. While the high expression of GPNMB in SCLC is well-documented, the precise correlation between GPNMB expression and the prognosis of SCLC remains undetermined. Methods: HTG Edge-seq was used to screen the differential gene expression between primary SCLC lesions and paired metastatic lymph nodes (LN). The plasma concentration of GPNMB was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The relationship between GPNMB concentration and clinical characteristics, as well as overall survival (OS) was assessed. One-to-one propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to reduce bias from confounding factors between groups. The invasive, migratory, proliferative, and apoptotic abilities of SCLC cells were evaluated using migration and matrigel invasion assays, CCK8 assay and flow cytometry respectively. Results: GPNMB exhibited a significant up-regulation in LN compared to primary SCLC lesions as determined by HTG Edge-seq. Furthermore, patients with extensive disease demonstrated a significantly elevated plasma GPNMB concentration compared to those with local disease (P = 0.043). Additionally, patients with a high baseline plasma GPNMB level exhibited a shorter OS (10.32 vs. 16.10 months, P = 0.0299). Following PSM analysis, the statistical significance of the difference between the two groups persisted (9.43 vs. 15.27 months, P = 0.0146). Notably, both univariate and multivariate analyses confirmed that higher expression of GPNMB served as an independent biomarker for OS before PSM (P = 0.033, HR = 2.304) and after PSM (P = 0.003, HR = 6.190). Additionally, our study revealed that the inhibition of GPNMB expression through the use of siRNA effectively diminished the metastatic and proliferative capabilities of SCLC. Furthermore, this inhibition resulted in an enhanced ability to induce apoptosis. Conclusions: In light of our findings, it can be inferred that the expression of GPNMB is linked to metastasis and an unfavorable prognosis, thus suggesting its potential as a novel therapeutic target in the treatment of SCLC.

Citrus canker, caused by Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc), is a severe citrus disease. Currently, copper-containing pesticides are widely used to manage this disease, posing high risks to the environment and human health. This study reports the discovery of naturally occurring anti-Xcc compounds from a deep-sea fungus, Aspergillus terreus SCSIO 41202, and the possible mode of action. The ethyl acetate extract of A. terreus was subjected to bioassay-guided isolation, resulting in the discovery of eight anti-Xcc compounds (1-8) with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranging from 0.078 to 0.625 mg/mL. The chemical structures of these eight metabolites were determined by integrative analysis of various spectroscopic data. Among these compounds, Asperporonin A (1) and Asperporonin B (2) were identified as novel compounds with a very unusual structural skeleton. The electronic circular dichroism was used to determine the absolute configurations of 1 and 2 through quantum chemical calculation. A bioconversion pathway involving pinacol rearrangement was proposed to produce the unusual compounds (1-2). Compound 6 exhibited an excellent anti-Xcc effect with a MIC value of 0.078 mg/mL, which was significantly more potent than the positive control CuSO4 (MIC = 0.3125 mg/mL). Compound 6 inhibited cell growth by disrupting biofilm formation, destroying the cell membrane, and inducing the accumulation of reactive oxygen species. In vivo tests indicated that compound 6 is highly effective in controlling citrus canker disease. These results indicate that compounds 1-8, especially 6, have the potential as lead compounds for the development of new, environmentally friendly, and efficient anti-Xcc pesticides.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play a crucial role in mediating immune responses by recognizing pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), as well as facilitating apoptotic cell (ACs) clearance (efferocytosis), thus contributing significantly to maintaining homeostasis and promoting tissue resolution. In this study, we investigate the impact of TLR agonists on macrophage efferocytosis. Our findings demonstrate that pretreatment with the TLR agonist lipopolysaccharide (LPS) significantly enhances macrophage phagocytic ability, thereby promoting efferocytosis both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, LPS pretreatment confers tissue protection against damage by augmenting macrophage efferocytic capacity in murine models. Further examination reveals that LPS modulates efferocytosis by upregulating the expression of Tim4.These results underscore the pivotal role of TLR agonists in regulating the efferocytosis process and suggest potential therapeutic avenues for addressing inflammatory diseases. Overall, our study highlights the intricate interplay between LPS pretreatment and efferocytosis in maintaining tissue homeostasis and resolving inflammation.

ABSTRACT

The nanomaterialization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has aroused widespread interest among researchers. Sanguinarine (SAN) is a kind of TCM with good antibacterial properties, which has important applications in anti-infection of wounds. Additionally, the combination of photothermal therapy and chemotherapy can overcome bacterial resistance, further improving bactericidal and wound healing efficiency. In this paper, we prepared an antibacterial agent by loading SAN on the zwitterion-modified MXene quantum dot nanocarrier (SAN@AHEP@Ta4C3), realizing pH/NIR controlled drug release and photothermal/chemotherapy synergistic antibacterial and wound healing. The particle size of SAN@AHEP@Ta4C3 is about 120 nm, and it has a good water solubility and stability. In addition, it also has excellent photothermal conversion performance (η = 39.2%), which can effectively convert light energy into heat energy under near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation, further promoting drug release and achieving bactericidal effects by synergistic chemotherapy and photothermal therapy. The in vitro and in vivo experiments show that SAN@AHEP@Ta4C3 exhibits an excellent antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and it can effectively promote the wound healing of mice. Moreover, the SAN@AHEP@Ta4C3 also has good biocompatibility and has no side effects on normal tissue and organs. This work introduces a multifunctional antibacterial agent based on TCM and hot-spot material MXene, which will have considerable application prospects in biomedical fields.
