ABSTRACT

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have garnered attention for their potential in photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production. However, their photocatalytic efficiency is impeded by insufficient exciton dissociation and charge carrier transport. Constructing COFs with superior planarity is an effective way to enhance the π-conjugation degree and facilitate electron-hole separation. Nonetheless, the conventional linear linkers of COFs inevitably introduce torsional strain that disrupts coplanarity.Herein, we address this issue by introducing inherently coplanar triazine rings as linkers and fused building blocks as monomers to create covalent triazine frameworks (fused CTFs) with superior coplanarity. Both experimental and theoretical calculations confirm that CTFs constructed from fused building blocks significantly enhance the electron-hole separation efficiency and improve the photocatalytic performance, compared to the CTFs constructed with non-fused building blocks. The frontier molecular orbitals and electrostatic potentials (ESP) revealed that the ORR is preferentially facilitated by the triazine rings, with the WOR likely occurring at the thiophene-containing moiety. Remarkably, CTF-BTT achieved an exceptional H2O2 production rate of 74956 µmol g-1 h-1 when employing 10% benzyl alcohol (V/V) as a sacrificial agent in an O2-saturated atmosphere, surpassing existing photocatalysts by nearly an order of magnitude.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The primary goal of the intensive care unit is to the anxiety of conscious patients is often ignored in the care unit. AIM: The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of various non-pharmacological therapies for anxiety disorders in adult patients in the intensive care unit, in order to enhance humanistic care in the intensive care unit and to promote the patients' physical and mental recovery together. STUDY DESIGN: We conducted a systematic and comprehensive search of the literature in five databases (including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EBSCO, Web of Science, and Embase) covering nearly a decade for randomized controlled trials of non-pharmacological therapies to reduce anxiety in adult intensive care unit patients. Two researchers independently assessed the quality of the literature, collected and condensed the data, and used STATA software to perform a network meta-analysis. The ranking probabilities for each intervention were calculated using the Surface under the Cumulative Ranking (SUCRA) method. The study protocol was registered with PROSPERO. RESULTS: This study ultimately included 26 randomized controlled trials involving 2791 adult ICU patients. Non-pharmacological interventions for anxiety in adult ICU patients included music therapy, aromatherapy, ICU diary, virtual reality, massage therapy, monitoring room diary, and health education. when compared to the control group (usual care), aromatherapy + music therapy [MD = -2.65, 95% CI (-4.76, -0.54)] (P = 0.0137) and music therapy [MD = -1.77, 95% CI (-3.40, -0.13)] (P = 0.0338) were superior in reducing anxiety in adult ICU patients. The results of the network meta-analysis showed that aromatherapy combined with music therapy significantly alleviated anxiety in adult ICU patients (SUCRA: 99.8%). CONCLUSIONS: Music therapy combined with aromatherapy has demonstrated superior effectiveness compared to other non-pharmacological interventions for reducing anxiety in awake adults in the ICU. However, the underlying mechanisms of this combined therapy require further exploration. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Future research on the use of music therapy combined with aromatherapy in the care unit may help reduce anxiety in patients while fostering their physical and mental healing; however, individual variances and unique clinical circumstances must be considered.

AIM: To explore the mechanism of proactive personality influence on nurses' sense of social responsibility through a serial multiple mediation model of volunteering motivation and self-efficacy. DESIGN: Further analysis of a cross-sectional and survey-based study. METHODS: In June 2023, a study was conducted with 722 Chinese nurses from four hospitals. Data were collected using the Proactive Personality Scale, the Self-Efficacy Scale, the Motivation to Volunteer Scale and the Nurses' Sense of Social Responsibility Scale. Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the relationship between nurses' sense of social responsibility and its correlative factors. RESULTS: Structural equation modelling showed a good model fit. Proactive personality, self-efficacy and motivation to volunteer can directly influence nurses' sense of social responsibility (ß = .12, ß = .04, ß = .50, p < .05). According to the test of chained mediation effects, proactive personality was significant through a single mediation path of self-efficacy (Z = 2.33, p < .05) and motivation to volunteer (Z = 7.32, p < .05) and through successive mediation paths of both variables (Z = 3.33, p < .05). CONCLUSION: A proactive personality can motivate nurses' social responsibility. Therefore, prompting nurses to be more proactive can effectively enhance nurses' sense of social responsibility. REPORTING METHOD: This study was reported following the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist for cross-sectional studies. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: This study explored the mechanisms influencing nurses' sense of social responsibility at the end of the epidemic. The results may inform the maintenance of high levels of long-term effects of nurses' social responsibility and shed light on building a standing workforce for public health emergencies.

ABSTRACT

Pancreatic cancer is characterized by an extensive fibroinflammatory microenvironment. During carcinogenesis, normal stromal cells are converted to cytokine-high cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs). The mechanisms underlying this conversion, including regulation and function of fibroblast-derived cytokines, are poorly understood. Thus, efforts to target CAFs therapeutically have so far failed. Here, we show that signals from epithelial cells expressing oncogenic KRAS -a hallmark pancreatic cancer mutation- activate fibroblast autocrine signaling, which drives expression of the cytokine interleukin-33 (IL-33). Stromal IL-33 expression remains high and dependent on epithelial KRAS throughout carcinogenesis; in turn, environmental stress induces IL-33 secretion. Using compartment-specific IL-33 knockout mice, we observed that lack of stromal IL-33 leads to profound reprogramming of multiple components of the pancreatic tumor microenvironment, including CAFs, myeloid cells and lymphocytes. Notably, loss of stromal IL-33 leads to an increase in CD8+ T cell infiltration and activation, and, ultimately, reduced tumor growth.

ABSTRACT

Lactation women, a highly concerned demographic in society, face health risks that deserve attention. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are widely utilized in food and daily products due to their excellent physicochemical properties, leading to the potential exposure of lactating women to ZnO NPs. Hence, assessing the potential risks associated with ZnO NP exposure during lactation is critical. While studies have confirmed that exposure to ZnO NPs during lactation can induce toxic responses in multiple organs through blood circulation, the effects of lactational exposure on mammary tissue remain unclear. This research investigated the impairment of mammary tissue induced by ZnO NPs and its potential mechanisms. Through administering multiple injections of ZnO NPs into the tail vein of lactating ICR mice, our study revealed that ZnO NPs can deposit in the mammary tissues, downregulating key components of mammary epithelial barrier such as ZO-1, occludin, and claudin-3. In vivo, we also found that ZnO NPs can simultaneously induce apoptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis, called PANoptosis. Additionally, using EpH4-Ev cells to simulate an in vitro mammary epithelial barrier model, we observed that ZnO NPs effectively disrupted the integrity of mammary epithelial barrier and induced PANoptosis. Furthermore, we confirmed that PANoptosis was responsible for the mammary epithelial barrier disruption induced by ZnO NPs. Moreover, we identified that ZBP1 was the primary mechanism of ZnO NPs inducing PANoptosis. These discoveries are designed to enhance our comprehension of the mechanisms underlying mammary epithelial barrier disruption caused by ZnO NPs, and we aim to highlight the potential hazards associated with daily usage and therapeutic exposure to ZnO NPs during lactation.

ABSTRACT

Carrier dynamics detection in different dimensions (space, time, and energy) with high resolutions plays a pivotal role in the development of modern semiconductor devices, especially in low-dimensional, high-speed, and ultrasensitive devices. Here, a femtosecond electron-based versatile microscopy is reported that combines scanning ultrafast electron microscopy (SUEM) imaging and time-resolved cathodoluminescence (TRCL) detection, which allows for visualizing and decoupling different dynamic processes of carriers involved in surface and bulk in semiconductors with unprecedented spatiotemporal and energetic resolutions. The achieved spatial resolution is better than 10 nm, and the temporal resolutions for SUEM imaging and TRCL detection are ≈500 fs and ≈4.5 ps, respectively, representing state-of-the-art performance. To demonstrate its unique capability, the surface and bulk carrier dynamics involved in n-type gallium arsenide (GaAs) are directly tracked and distinguished. It is revealed, in real time and space, that hot carrier cooling, defect trapping, and interband-/defect-assisted radiative recombination in the energy domain result in ordinal super-diffusion, localization, and sub-diffusion of carriers at the surface, elucidating the crucial role of surface states on carrier dynamics. The study not only gives a comprehensive physical picture of carrier dynamics in GaAs, but also provides a powerful platform for exploring complex carrier dynamics in semiconductors for promoting their device performance.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Tubular microdiskectomy (tMD) is one of the most commonly used for treating lumbar disk herniation. However, there still patients still complain of persistent postoperative residual low back pain (rLBP) postoperatively. This study attempts to develop a nomogram to predict the risk of rLBP after tMD. METHODS: The patients were divided into non-rLBP (LBP VAS score < 2) and rLBP (LBP VAS score ≥ 2) group. The correlation between rLBP and these factors were analyzed by multivariate logistic analysis. Then, a nomogram prediction model of rLBP was developed based on the risk factors screened by multivariate analysis. The samples in the model are randomly divided into training and validation sets in a 7:3 ratio. The Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the diskrimination, calibration and clinical value of the model, respectively. RESULTS: A total of 14.3% (47/329) of patients have persistent rLBP. The multivariate analysis suggests that higher preoperative LBP visual analog scale (VAS) score, lower facet orientation (FO), grade 2-3 facet joint degeneration (FJD) and moderate-severe multifidus fat atrophy (MFA) are risk factors for postoperative rLBP. In the training and validation sets, the ROC curves, calibration curves, and DCAs suggested the good diskrimination, predictive accuracy between the predicted probability and actual probability, and clinical value of the model, respectively. CONCLUSION: This nomogram including preoperative LBP VAS score, FO, FJD and MFA can serve a promising prediction model, which will provide a reference for clinicians to predict the rLBP after tMD.

ABSTRACT

Owing to the high optical reflectivity of copper powder, the high-performance fabrication of copper alloys in the laser additive manufacturing (AM) field is problematic. To tackle this issue, this study employs the remelting process during laser powder bed fusion AM to fabricate defect-free and high-performance CuCrZr alloy. Compared to the non-remelting process, the remelting process yields finer grains, smaller precipitates, denser dislocations, and smaller dislocation cells. It realizes not only the dense molding of high laser reflectivity powders but also excellent mechanical properties and electrical conductivity (with an ultimate tensile strength of 329 MPa and conductivity of 96% IACS) without post-heat treatment. Furthermore, this study elucidates the influence of complex thermal gradients and multiple thermal cycles on the manufacturing process under the remelting process, as well as the internal mechanisms of microstructure evolution and performance improvement.

OBJECTIVES: The new daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a rare primary headache disorder. However, the underlying mechanisms of NDPH remain incompletely understood. This study aims to apply seed-based analysis to explore the functional connectivity (FC) of brainstem nuclei in patients with NDPH using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS: The FC analysis from the region of interest (ROI) to whole brain voxels was used to investigate 29 patients with NDPH and 37 well-matched healthy controls (HCs) with 3.0 Tesla MRI. The 76 nuclei in the brainstem atlas were defined as ROIs. Furthermore, we explored the correlations between FC and patients' clinical characteristics and neuropsychological evaluations. RESULTS: Patients with NDPH exhibited reduced FC in multiple brainstem nuclei compared to HCs (including right inferior medullary reticular formation, right mesencephalic reticular formation, bilateral locus coeruleus, bilateral laterodorsal tegmental nucleus-central gray of the rhombencephalon, median raphe, left medial parabrachial nucleus, periaqueductal gray, and bilateral ventral tegmental area-parabrachial pigmented nucleus complex) and increased FC in periaqueductal gray. No significant correlations were found between the FC of these brain regions and clinical characteristics or neuropsychological evaluations after Bonferroni correction (p > 0.00016). CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated that patients with NDPH have abnormal FC of brainstem nuclei involved in the perception and regulation of pain and emotions.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Changes to the wound dressing frequently cause pain. Some adverse side effects of pharmacologic pain management may cause problems or even impede wound healing. There is no systematic study of non-pharmacologic therapies for pain during wound dressing changes, despite the gradual promotion of non-pharmacologic pain reduction methods. OBJECTIVES: To give clinical wound pain management a new direction, locating and assessing non-pharmacological interventions regarding pain brought on by wound dressing changes are necessary. METHOD: The researchers conducted a comprehensive literature review on non-pharmacological interventions for pain during wound dressing changes across five databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane Library spanning the period from January 2010 to September 2022. The evaluation of literature and data extraction was carried out independently by two researchers, and in cases of disagreement, a third researcher participated in the deliberation. To assess the risk of bias in the literature, the researchers utilised the Cochrane Handbook for Reviews of Interventions, version 5.1.0. RESULTS: In total, 951 people were involved in 11 investigations covering seven non-pharmacological therapies. For pain triggered by dressing changes, virtual reality (VR) distraction, auditory and visual distractions, foot reflexology, religious and spiritual care, and guided imaging demonstrated partially positive effects, with hypnosis therapy and jaw relaxation perhaps having a weak effect. CONCLUSION: The key to managing wounds is pain management. According to our review, there is some indication that non-pharmacologic interventions can help patients feel less discomfort when having their wound dressings changed. However, the evidence supporting this view is weak. It needs to be corroborated by future research studies with multicentre and large samples. To promote and use various non-pharmacologic interventions in the future, it is also necessary to build standardised and homogenised paths for their implementation.

OBJECTIVE: Presently, no study has compared the clinical outcomes of minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (Mis-TLIF) with bilateral decompression via the unilateral approach (BDUA) and Open-TLIF with bilateral decompression for degenerative lumbar diseases (DLD). We aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of through Mis-TLIF combined with BDUA and Open-TLIF with bilateral decompression for the treatment of DLD, and reported the learning curve of the procedure of MIS-TLIF with BDUA. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the prospectively collected data of consecutive DLD patients in the two groups from January 2016 to January 2020. RESULTS: The operative time (OT) was significantly longer in the Mis-TLIF group (n = 113) than in the Open-TLIF group (n = 135). The postoperative drainage volume (PDV) and length of stay (LOS) were significantly higher in the Open-TLIF group than in the Mis-TLIF group. Additionally, the complication rate was significantly higher in the Open-TLIF group than in the Mis-TLIF group (14.8% vs. 6.2%, P = 0.030), while there was no significant difference in the reoperation and adjacent segment disease rates between the two groups. There were no significant differences in back pain and leg pain Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) scores and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) between the two groups preoperatively, at discharge, and 2 years postoperatively. Patients in both groups showed significant improvements in NRS scores and ODI scores after surgery. OT was negatively correlated with the number of surgeries performed (P < 0.001, r = -0.43). The learning curve of Mis-TLIF with BDUA was steep, with OT tapered to steady state in 43 cases. CONCLUSION: Compared with Open-TLIF with bilateral decompression, Mis-TLIF with BDUA can achieve equivalent clinical outcomes, lower PDV and LOS, and lower complication rates. Although this procedure took longer, it could be a viable alternative for the treatment of DLD after a steep learning curve.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the current situation and influencing factors of quality of life of septic patients in intensive care unit (ICU) after discharge, and to provide theoretical basis for clinical early psychological intervention and continuity of care. METHODS: A prospective observational study was conducted. The septic patients who were hospitalized in the department of critical care medicine of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University and discharged with improvement from January 1 to December 31, 2022 were selected as the research objects. The demographic information, basic diseases, infection site, vital signs at ICU admission, severity scores of the condition within 24 hours after ICU admission, various biochemical indexes, treatment process, and prognostic indexes of all the patients were recorded. All patients were assessed by questionnaire at 3 months of discharge using the 36-item short-form health survey scale (SF-36 scale), the activities of daily living scale (ADL scale), and the Montreal cognitive assessment scale (MoCA scale). Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the factors influencing the quality of life of septic patients after discharge from the hospital. RESULTS: A total of 200 septic patients were discharged with improvement and followed up at 3 months of discharge, of which 150 completed the questionnaire. Of the 150 patients, 57 had sepsis and 93 had septic shock. The total SF-36 scale score of septic patients at 3 months of discharge was 81.4±23.0, and the scores of dimensions were, in descending order, role-emotional (83.4±23.0), mental health (82.9±23.6), bodily pain (82.8±23.3), vitality (81.6±23.2), physical function (81.4±23.5), general health (81.1±23.3), role-physical (79.5±27.0), and social function (78.8±25.2). There was no statistically significant difference in the total SF-36 scale score between the patients with sepsis and septic shock (82.6±22.0 vs. 80.7±23.6, P > 0.05). Incorporating the statistically significant indicators from linear univariate analysis into multiple linear regression analysis, and the results showed that the factors influencing the quality of life of septic patients at 3 months after discharge included ADL scale score at 3 months after discharge [ß= 0.741, 95% confidence interval (95%CI) was 0.606 to 0.791, P < 0.001], length of ICU stay (ß= -0.209, 95%CI was -0.733 to -0.208, P = 0.001), duration of mechanical ventilation (ß= 0.147, 95%CI was 0.122 to 0.978, P = 0.012), total dosage of norepinephrine (ß= -0.111, 95%CI was -0.044 to -0.002, P = 0.028), mean arterial pressure (MAP) at ICU admission (ß= -0.102, 95%CI was -0.203 to -0.007, P = 0.036) and body weight (ß= 0.097, 95%CI was 0.005 to 0.345, P = 0.044). CONCLUSIONS: The quality of life of patients with sepsis at 3 months after discharge is at a moderately high level. The influencing factors of the quality of life of patients with sepsis at 3 months after discharge include the ADL scale score at 3 months after discharge, the length of ICU stay, the duration of mechanical ventilation, the total dosage of norepinephrine, MAP at ICU admission and body weight, and healthcare professionals should enhance the treatment and care of the patients during their hospitalization based on the above influencing factors, and pay attention to early psychological intervention and continued care for such patients.

ABSTRACT

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) continues to have a dismal prognosis. The poor survival of patients with PDA has been attributed to a high rate of early metastasis and low efficacy of current therapies, which partly result from its complex immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Previous studies from our group and others have shown that tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) are instrumental in maintaining immunosuppression in PDA. Here, we explored the role of Notch signaling, a key regulator of immune response, within the PDA microenvironment. We identified Notch pathway components in multiple immune cell types within human and mouse pancreatic cancer. TAMs, the most abundant immune cell population in the tumor microenvironment, expressed high levels of Notch receptors, with cognate ligands such as JAG1 expressed on tumor epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts. TAMs with activated Notch signaling expressed higher levels of immunosuppressive mediators, suggesting that Notch signaling plays a role in macrophage polarization within the PDA microenvironment. Genetic inhibition of Notch in myeloid cells led to reduced tumor size and decreased macrophage infiltration in an orthotopic PDA model. Combination of pharmacologic Notch inhibition with PD-1 blockade resulted in increased cytotoxic T-cell infiltration, tumor cell apoptosis, and smaller tumor size. Our work implicates macrophage Notch signaling in the establishment of immunosuppression and indicates that targeting the Notch pathway may improve the efficacy of immune-based therapies in patients with PDA.

Green fluorescent carbon dots (G-CDs) were fabricated from Coptis chinensis directly via one-step hydrothermal treatment for the determination of quercetin (QCT) and pH sensing. The obtained G-CDs have low cytotoxicity, good photostability and excellent water solubility. The optimal excitation wavelength and emission wavelength were 480 and 530 nm. A remarkable emission reduction displayed when QCT was added to the G-CDs and the linear detection range is 0-200 µM, the limit of detection is 4.41 nM. The proposed method was applied to the determination of QCT in Haerbin beer products with satisfactory successful recovery. Furthermore, the G-CDs exhibited sensitive changes to pH and two fluorescent pH sensors in the linear ranges of 2.0-6.0 and 6.0-11.0 were constructed based on this. They also provide a feasible method to measure the pH value of real water samples. Importantly, the fluorescent sensor has been extended to detect QCT in yeast cell, demonstrating the G-CDs present potential biosensing application prospect.

BACKGROUND: The brain functional network topology in new daily persistent headache (NDPH) is not well understood. In this study, we aim to assess the cortical functional network topological characteristics of NDPH using non-invasive neural signal recordings. METHODS: Resting-state magnetoencephalography (MEG) was used to measure power fluctuations in neuronal oscillations from distributed cortical parcels in 35 patients with NDPH and 40 healthy controls (HCs). Their structural data were collected by 3T MRI. Functional connectivity (FC) of neural networks from 1 to 80 Hz frequency ranges was analyzed with topographic patterns and calculated network topological parameters with graph theory. RESULTS: In the delta (1-4 Hz) and beta (13-30 Hz) bands, the lateral occipital cortex and superior frontal gyrus FC were increased in NDPH groups compared to HCs. Graph theory analysis revealed that the NDPH had significantly increased global efficiency in the delta band and decreased nodal clustering coefficient (left medial orbitofrontal cortex) in the theta (4-8 Hz) band. The clinical characteristics had a significant correlation with network topological parameters. Age at onset of patients showed a positive correlation with global efficiency in the delta band. The degree of depression of patients showed a negative correlation with the nodal clustering coefficient (left medial orbitofrontal cortex) in the theta band. CONCLUSION: The FC and topology of NDPH in brain networks may be altered, potentially leading to cortical hyperexcitability. Moreover, medial orbitofrontal cortex is involved in the pathophysiological mechanism of depression in patients with NDPH. Increased FC observed in the lateral occipital cortex and superior frontal gyrus during resting-state MEG could serve as one of the imaging characteristics associated with NDPH.

ABSTRACT

White adipose tissue browning can promote lipid burning to increase energy expenditure and improve adiposity. Here, we show that Slc35d3 expression is significantly lower in adipose tissues of obese mice. While adipocyte-specific Slc35d3 knockin is protected against diet-induced obesity, adipocyte-specific Slc35d3 knockout inhibits white adipose tissue browning and causes decreased energy expenditure and impaired insulin sensitivity in mice. Mechanistically, we confirm that SLC35D3 interacts with the NOTCH1 extracellular domain, which leads to the accumulation of NOTCH1 in the endoplasmic reticulum and thus inhibits the NOTCH1 signaling pathway. In addition, knockdown of Notch1 in mouse inguinal white adipose tissue mediated by orthotopic injection of AAV8-adiponectin-shNotch1 shows considerable improvement in obesity and glucolipid metabolism, which is more pronounced in adipocyte-specific Slc35d3 knockout mice than in knockin mice. Overall, in this study, we reveal that SLC35D3 is involved in obesity via NOTCH1 signaling, and low adipose SLC35D3 expression in obesity might be a therapeutic target for obesity and associated metabolic disorders.

BACKGROUND: Preliminary evidence suggests that several headache disorders may be associated with glymphatic dysfunction. However, no studies have been conducted to examine the glymphatic activity in migraine chronification. PURPOSES: To investigate the glymphatic activity of migraine chronification in patients with episodic migraine (EM) and chronic migraine (CM) using the diffusion tensor image analysis along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) method. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, patients with EM, CM, and healthy controls (HCs) were included. All participants underwent a standard brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination. Bilateral DTI-ALPS indexes were calculated for all participants and compared among EM, CM, and HC groups. Correlations between the DTI-ALPS index and clinical characteristics were analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 32 patients with EM, 24 patients with CM, and 41 age- and sex-matched HCs were included in the analysis. Significant differences were found in the right DTI-ALPS index among the three groups (p = 0.011), with CM showing significantly higher values than EM (p = 0.033) and HCs (p = 0.015). The right DTI-ALPS index of CM group was significantly higher than the left DTI-ALPS index (p = 0.005). And the headache intensity was correlated to DTI-ALPS index both in the left hemisphere (r = 0.371, p = 0.011) and in the right hemisphere (r = 0.307, p = 0.038), but there were no correlations after Bonferroni correction. CONCLUSIONS: Glymphatic system activity is shown to be increased instead of impaired during migraine chronification. The mechanism behind this observation suggests that increased glymphatic activity is more likely to be a concomitant phenomenon of altered vascular reactivity associated with migraine pathophysiology rather than a risk factor of migraine chronification.

ABSTRACT

Mixed-dimensional heterostructures have drawn significant attention due to their intriguing physical properties and potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic nanodevices. However, limited by the lattice matching, the preparation of heterostructures is experimentally difficult and the underlying growth mechanism has not been well established. Here, we report a three-step seeding epitaxial growth strategy for synthesizing mixed-dimensional heterostructures of one-dimensional microwire (MW) and two-dimensional atomic thin film. Our growth strategy has successfully realized direct epitaxial growth of WSe2 film on WOx MW and significantly improves the quality of the epitaxial WSe2 monolayer, which is evidenced by the remarkably enhanced photoluminescence (PL). More intriguingly, the as-synthesized WOx MWs exhibit a strong nonlinear optical response due to the enhancement effect of the core (WOx)-shell (WSe2) nanocavity. Our work provides a feasible route for direct growth of WOx-based mixed-dimensional heterostructures, which possess potential applications in high-performance optoelectronic devices.
