ABSTRACT

Due to the emergency environment pollution problems, it is imperative to understand the air quality and take effective measures for environmental governance. As a representative measure, the air quality index (AQI) is a single conceptual index value simplified by the concentrations of several routinely monitored air pollutants according to the proportion of various components in the air. With the gradual enhancement of awareness of environmental protection, air quality index forecasting is a key point of environment management. However, most of the traditional forecasting methods ignore the fuzziness of original data itself and the uncertainty of forecasting results which causes the unsatisfactory results. Thus, an innovative forecasting system combining data preprocessing technique, kernel fuzzy c-means (KFCM) clustering algorithm and fuzzy time series is successfully developed for air quality index forecasting. Concretely, the fuzzy time series that handle the fuzzy set is used for the main forecasting process. Then the complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition and KFCM are respectively developed for data denoising and interval partition. Furthermore, the interval forecasting method based on error distribution is developed to measure the forecasting uncertainty. Finally, the experimental simulation and evaluation system verify the great performance of proposed forecasting system and the promising applicability in a practical environment early warning system.

ABSTRACT

Upstream treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF, for short) is a new approach to the prevention and treatment of AF with non-antiarrhythmic drugs, which is essentially primary and secondary prevention of AF. The former refers to the prevention of AF by controlling risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure before AF occurs, and the latter mainly refers to targeting ion channels, inflammation, oxidative stress, and other pathways to reduce or reverse atrial electrical and structural remodeling, reduction of AF load, and reduction of the chance of AF occurrence or progression. More and more studies have shown that many traditional Chinese medicines, active ingredients of Chinese medicines, and Chinese herbal formulas have definite effects on the upstream treatment of AF, but their mechanisms of action are different. Therefore, we summarized the relevant literature on the application and mechanisms of Chinese medicine on the upstream treatment of AF in recent years, hoping to be helpful for subsequent studies.

ABSTRACT

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Myocardial fibrosis leads to cardiac remodeling and dysfunction. Curcumae Rhizoma has been utilized in clinical trials to treat a variety of cardiovascular illnesses, although its role in myocardial fibrosis is unknown. AIM OF THE STUDY: The purpose of current study was to explore the potential mechanism action and anti-myocardial fibrosis effects of treatment with Curcumae Rhizoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The chemical components in the aqueous extract from Curcumae Rhizoma were identified using GC-MS analysis. A prediction network describing the relationship between Curcumae Rhizoma and MF was established based on information collected from multiple databases. Functional enrichment analysis was performed to investigate the specific functions and pathways involved in the candidate Curcumae Rhizoma targets acting on MF, which were further validated by vivo experiments. RESULTS: There were 444 targets obtained from the 39 active ingredients in Curcumae Rhizoma, and 5691 disease targets related to MF were identified. Then, 41 key targets were determined with the PPI interaction network, which was structured from 324 overlapping gene targets. GO and KEGG analyses revealed that the p38 MAPK/NF-κB and TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 signaling pathways might play crucial roles in the therapeutic mechanism of MF. According to the results of molecular docking, the binding activity between core components and targets was marvelous (affinity < -6 kcal/mol). Take it a step further, the experimental validation data affirmed that Curcumae Rhizoma substantially decreased myocardial fibrosis and recovered cardiac function in the ISO-induced rats. The associated proteins expression data implied that the p38 MAPK/NF-κB and TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 pathways might be vital in the anti-fibrosis effect of Curcumae Rhizoma. CONCLUSION: The findings suggested that Curcumae Rhizoma diminished myocardial fibrosis by suppressing fibrosis multiplication and collagen deposition through inhibiting p38 MAPK/NF-κB and TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 pathways, which might be a promising therapeutic medicament for alleviating myocardial fibrosis.

ABSTRACT

As cyberspace has become an important factor in modern-day life, the impact of the Internet on residents has also attracted more attention. Based on the data of China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this study empirically examines the impact of Internet use on Chinese residents' subjective well-being (SWB) from a multi-dimensional perspective. The research found that Internet use had a significant impact on residents' SWB, which was mainly reflected in job satisfaction, happiness, social ties, and future confidence. The impacts of the Internet's different application fields are not consistent. Applying its use more in studying, working, socialize and commercial activities has a stronger effect, but has no significant impact on entertainment. Further heterogeneity tests also found that the marginal effect of Internet use increases with age, male and low-income groups can obtain greater benefit from the Internet, and there is almost no difference between urban and rural areas. This research provides micro evidence of the social effects of Internet use and provides enlightenment for how to further promote the quality of Internet use to better benefit people.
