ABSTRACT

In order to alleviate the world energy resources crisis, the research and development of natural gas hydrates has a very important economic value and strategic significance. The CH4-CO2 replacement method can not only achieve geological storage of carbon dioxide but also more effectively mine natural gas hydrates. Based on molecular dynamics theory and the properties of natural gas hydrates, this paper delves into the replacement of methane hydrate with carbon dioxide under different temperatures, pressures, and concentrations of ethylene glycol (EG). We established a CO2-Hydrate model and three CO2/EG-Hydrate models with different concentrations of EG, and we simulated the radial distribution function (RDF), mean square displacement (MSD), and relative density distribution of each particle in the system in different conditions. The higher the temperature, the more unstable the methane hydrates are, and the methane hydrates are more prone to decomposition. Compared with 280 and 290 K, the temperature of 270 K is more favorable for carbon dioxide molecules to enter the hydrate layer and form carbon dioxide hydrates. The changes in pressure have little impact on the decomposition of methane hydrates, the rupture of water cages of methane hydrates, and the number of carbon dioxide molecules entering the hydrate layer under temperatures of 280 K and pressures of 1, 4, and 7 MPa. But overall, a pressure of 1 MPa is more conducive for carbon dioxide molecules to enter the hydrate layer and form carbon dioxide hydrates. Adding EG to CO2 molecules can inhibit the decomposition of methane hydrates. However, the higher the concentration of EG, the faster the decomposition of methane hydrates. The degree of fracture of the water cages in methane hydrates is greater under pure CO2 conditions. Adding EG to CO2 molecules is more conducive for CO2 molecules to enter the hydrate layer and form carbon dioxide hydrates. This review is of great significance to improve the mining efficiency and CO2 storage efficiency of the replacement of natural gas hydrates with CO2.

ABSTRACT

The susceptibility of lysosomal membranes in tumor cells to cationic amphiphilic drugs (CADs) enables CADs to induce lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP) and trigger lysosome-dependent cell death (LDCD), suggesting a potential antitumor therapeutic approach. However, the existence of intrinsic lysosomal damage response mechanisms limits the display of the pharmacological activity of CADs. In this study, we report that low concentrations of QS-21, a saponin with cationic amphiphilicity extracted from Quillaja Saponaria tree, can induce LMP but has nontoxicity to tumor cells. QS-21 and MAP30, a type I ribosome-inactivating protein, synergistically induce apoptosis in tumor cells at low concentrations of both. Mechanistically, QS-21-induced LMP helps MAP30 escape from endosomes or lysosomes and subsequently enter the endoplasmic reticulum, where MAP30 downregulates the expression of autophagy-associated LC3 proteins, thereby inhibiting lysophagy. The inhibition of lysophagy results in the impaired clearance of damaged lysosomes, leading to the leakage of massive lysosomal contents such as cathepsins into the cytoplasm, ultimately triggering LDCD. In summary, our study showed that coadministration of QS-21 and MAP30 amplified the lysosomal disruption and can be a new synergistic LDCD-based antitumor therapy.

ABSTRACT

High levels of free amino acids (AAs) in tea leaves are crucial for tea flavor and health function; however, the dynamic AA biosynthesis, transport, and turnover in tea plants remain elusive. Here we dissected whole tea plants for these dynamics by assessing AA profiles and transcriptomes of metabolic pathway genes in tea roots, stems, and leaves and revealing their distinctive features with regard to AA synthesis, transport, and degradation/recycling. Nitrogen assimilation dominated in the roots wherein glutamine (Gln), theanine, and arginine (Arg) were actively synthesized. Arg was transported into trunk roots and stems, together with Glu, Gln, and theanine as the major AAs in the xylem sap for long-distance root-to-leaf transport. Transcriptome analysis revealed that genes involved in Arg synthesis were highly expressed in roots, but those for Arg transport and degradation were highly expressed in stems and young leaves, respectively. CsGSIa transcripts were found in root meristem cells, root, stem and leaf vascular tissues, and leaf mesophyll where it appeared to participate in AA synthesis, transport, and recycling. Overexpression of CsGSIa in tea transgenic hairy roots and knockdown of CsGSIa in transgenic hairy roots and tea leaves produced higher and lower Gln and theanine than wild-type roots and leaves, respectively. This study provides comprehensive and new insights into AA metabolism and transport in the whole tea plant.

ABSTRACT

DNA methylation indicates the individual's aging, so-called Epigenetic clocks, which will improve the research and diagnosis of aging diseases by investigating the correlation between methylation loci and human aging. Although this discovery has inspired many researchers to develop traditional computational methods to quantify the correlation and predict the chronological age, the performance bottleneck delayed access to the practical application. Since artificial intelligence technology brought great opportunities in research, we proposed a perceptron model integrating a channel attention mechanism named PerSEClock. The model was trained on 24,516 CpG loci that can utilize the samples from all types of methylation identification platforms and tested on 15 independent datasets against seven methylation-based age prediction methods. PerSEClock demonstrated the ability to assign varying weights to different CpG loci. This feature allows the model to enhance the weight of age-related loci while reducing the weight of irrelevant loci. The method is free to use for academics at www.dnamclock.com/#/original.

ABSTRACT

Cardiovascular disease is currently the number one cause of death endangering human health. There is currently a large body of research showing that the development of cardiovascular disease and its complications is often accompanied by inflammatory processes. In recent years, epitranscriptional modifications have been shown to be involved in regulating the pathophysiological development of inflammation in cardiovascular diseases, with 6-methyladenine being one of the most common RNA transcriptional modifications. In this review, we link different cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and myocardial ischemia-reperfusion, with inflammation and describe the regulatory processes involved in RNA methylation. Advances in RNA methylation research have revealed the close relationship between the regulation of transcriptome modifications and inflammation in cardiovascular diseases and brought potential therapeutic targets for disease diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, we also discussed different cell aspects. In addition, in the article we also describe the different application aspects and clinical pathways of RNA methylation therapy. In summary, this article reviews the mechanism, regulation and disease treatment effects of m6A modification on inflammation and inflammatory cells in cardiovascular diseases in recent years. We will discuss issues facing the field and new opportunities that may be the focus of future research.

OBJECTIVE: This study analyzed and explored the relationship between isthmic spondylolisthesis and disc degeneration by comparing the degree of disc degeneration in patients with isthmic spondylolisthesis, lumbar disc herniation, and asymptomatic healthy individuals. METHODS: This study included a total of 138 cases, consisting of L5-S1 single segment lesion patients and a normal lumbar spine population. The cases were divided into three groups based on the type of disease: 58 cases in the isthmic spondylolisthesis group (IS), 50 cases in the lumbar disc herniation group (LDH), and 30 cases in the normal lumbar vertebrae group (NLV). RESULTS: The research findings indicate that the proportion of intervertebral disc degeneration in the LDH group is significantly higher than that in the IS group and NLV group (65.3% vs. 33.3% vs. 25.8%, P<0.05). The Pfirrmann grades of lumbar intervertebral discs (L1-L4) in the LDH group are significantly higher than those in the IS group and NLV group (P<0.05), and the intervertebral height index (IHI) (L1-L4) of lumbar vertebrae in the LDH group is significantly lower than that in the IS group and NLV group (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The results showed that the degree of intervertebral disc degeneration in patients with isthmic spondylolisthesis was lighter than that in patients with lumbar disc herniation, and even similar to that in healthy individuals. The occurrence of isthmic spondylolisthesis may have slowed down the degeneration of non-affected segment intervertebral discs through certain factors.

BACKGROUND: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease. SFTS virus (SFTSV) is transmitted by tick bites and contact with the blood or body fluids of SFTS patients. Animal-to-human transmission of SFTS has been reported in Japan, but not in China. In this study, the possible transmission route of two patients who fed and cared for farm-raised fur animals in a mink farm was explored. METHOD: An epidemiological investigation and a genetic analysis of patients, animals and working environment were carried out. RESULTS: It was found that two patients had not been bitten by ticks and had no contact with patients infected with SFTS virus, but both of them had skinned the dying animals. 54.55% (12/22) of the farm workers were positive for SFTS virus antibody. By analyzing the large, medium and small segments sequences, the viral sequences from the two patients, animals and environments showed 99.9% homology. CONCLUSION: It is suspected that the two patients may be directly infected by farm-raised animals, and that the virus may have been transmitted by aerosols when skinning dying animals. Transmission by direct blood contacts or animal bites cannot be ignored.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To differentiate mixed epithelial and stromal tumor family (MESTF) of the kidney from predominantly cystic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) using the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based Bosniak classification system version 2019 (v2019). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 36 consecutive patients with MESTF and 77 with predominantly cystic RCC who underwent preoperative renal MRI. One radiologist evaluated and documented the clinical and MRI characteristics (age, sex, laterality, R.E.N.A.L. Nephrometry Score [RNS], surgical approach, the signal intensity on T2-weighted imaging, restricted diffusion and enhancement features in corticomedullary phase). Blinded to clinical and pathological information, another two radiologists independently evaluated Bosniak category of all masses. Interobserver agreement based on Bosniak classification system v2019 was measured by the weighted Cohen/Conger's Kappa coefficient. Furthermore, predominantly cystic RCCs and MESTFs were divided into low (categories I, II, and IIF) and high-class (categories III, and IV) tumors. The independent sample t test (Mann-Whitney U test) or Pearson Chi-square test (Fisher's exact probability test) was utilized to compare clinical and imaging characteristics between MESTFs and predominantly cystic RCCs. The performance of the Bosniak classification system v2019 in distinguishing MESTF from predominantly cystic RCC was investigated via receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. RESULTS: MESTF and predominantly cystic RCC groups significantly differed in terms of age, lesion size, RNS, restricted diffusion, and obvious enhancement in corticomedullary phase, but not sex, laterality, surgical approach, and the signal intensity on T2WI. Interobserver agreement was substantially based on the Bosniak classification system v2019. There were 24 low-class tumors and 12 high-class tumors in the MESTF group. Meanwhile, 13 low-class tumors and 64 high-class tumors were observed in the predominantly cystic RCC group. The distribution of low- or high-class tumors significantly differed between the MESTF and predominantly cystic RCC groups. Bosniak classification system v2019 had excellent discrimination (cutoff value = category III), and an area under curve value was 0.81; accuracy, 80.5%; sensitivity, 87.0%; and specificity, 66.7%. CONCLUSION: The MRI-based Bosniak classification system v2019 can effectively distinguish MESTF from predominantly cystic RCC if category III was used as a cutoff reference.

ABSTRACT

To develop a clinical-radiomics nomogram based on spectral CT multi-parameter images for predicting lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer. A total of 76 patients with colorectal cancer and 156 lymph nodes were included. The clinical data of the patients were collected, including gender, age, tumor location and size, preoperative tumor markers, etc. Three sets of conventional images in the arterial, venous, and delayed phases were obtained, and six sets of spectral images were reconstructed using the arterial phase spectral data, including virtual monoenergetic images (40 keV, 70 keV, 100 keV), iodine density maps, iodine no water maps, and virtual non-contrast images. Radiomics features of lymph nodes were extracted from the above images, respectively. Univariate analysis and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression were used to select features. A clinical model was constructed based on age and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels. The radiomics features selected were used to generate a composed radiomics signature (Com-RS). A nomogram was developed using age, CEA, and the Com-RS. The models' prediction efficiency, calibration, and clinical application value were evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), calibration curve, and decision curve analysis, respectively. The nomogram outperforms the clinical model and the Com-RS (AUC = 0.879, 0.824). It is well calibrated and has great clinical application value. This study developed a clinical-radiomics nomogram based on spectral CT multi-parameter images, which can be used as an effective tool for preoperative personalized prediction of lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer.

ABSTRACT

Ovarian cancer (OC) has the highest mortality rate among malignant tumors, primarily because it is difficult to diagnose early. Exosomes, a type of extracellular vesicle rich in parental information, have garnered significant attention in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment. They play an important regulatory role in the occurrence, development, and metastasis of OC. Consequently, exosomes have emerged as noninvasive biomarkers for early cancer detection. Therefore, identifying cancer-derived exosomes may offer a novel biomarker for the early detection of OC. In this study, we developed a metal-organic frameworks assembled "double hook"-type aptamer electrochemical sensor, which enables accurate early diagnosis of OC. Under optimal experimental conditions, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technology demonstrated a good linear relationship within the concentration range of 31-3.1 × 106 particles per microliter, with a detection limit as low as 12 particles per microliter. The universal exosome detection platform is constructed, and this platform can not only differentiate between high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) patients and healthy individuals but also distinguish between HGSOC patients and nonhigh-grade serous OC (non-HGSOC). Consequently, it provides a novel strategy for the early diagnosis of OC and holds great significance in clinical differential diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the hip joint biomechanics of the acetabular anatomical reconstruction and nonanatomical reconstruction in total hip arthroplasty (THA) for Crowe type Ⅲ developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) by finite element method, which provided theoretical foundation and experimental basis for the anatomical acetabular reconstruction during THA in clinical practice. METHODS: One patient with left end-stage hip arthritis secondary to Crowe type Ⅲ DDH was selected in this study, who underwent total hip arthroplasty in the orthopedic department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College in April 2020. This patient was female, 57 years old. The preoperative and postoperative three dimentional CT scan of the patient's pelvis were performed. Fourteen acetabular cup models with different anteversion, inclination and rotation center height were established in Mimics and 3-Matic software. The boundary and load conditions were set in Abaqus software. The Von Mises and stress distribution of the hip joint were calculated and observed. RESULTS: In the Crowe type Ⅲ DDH THA, if the hip rotation center was restored anatomically and the acetabular cup's inclination was set as 40°, the cup's anteversion varied from 5° to 25°, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 20°anteversioin;if the hip rotation center was restored anatomically and the acetabular cup's anteversion was set as 15°, the cup's inclination varied from 35° to 55°, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 35° inclination;if the acetabular cup's anteversion and inclination were set as 15°and 40°respectively, the up migration of hip rotaion center varied from 0 mm to 20 mm, the lowest Von Mises value of acetabular cup and polyethylene liner occured in 10 mm up migration. In all fourteen models, the Von Mises value of the acetabulum, acetabulum cup and polyethylene liner were lowest when the acetabular cup's anteversion and inlcination were 15°, 35° respectively, as well as the rotation center was restored anatomically. CONCLUSION: In total hip arthroplasty for Crowe type Ⅲ DDH, the anatomical restoration of hip rotation center with 15° anteversion and 35° inclination of the acetabular cup are suggested, bone graft above the acetabular cup and additional screws are recommended simultaneously to further reduce the Von Mises of hip joint.

ABSTRACT

The diversity of alcohol beverage microorganisms is of great significance for improving the brewing process and the quality of alcohol beverage products. During the process of making alcoholic beverages, a group of microorganisms, represented by yeast and lactic acid bacteria, conducts fermentation. These microorganisms have complex synergistic or competitive relationships, and the participation of different microorganisms has a major impact on the fermentation process and the flavor and aroma of the product. Strain selection is one of the key steps. Utilizing scientific breeding technology, the relationship between strains can be managed, the composition of the alcoholic beverage microbial community can be improved, and the quality and flavor of the alcoholic beverage products can be increased. Currently, research on the microbial diversity of alcohol beverages has received extensive attention. However, the selection technology for dominant bacteria in alcohol beverages has not yet been systematically summarized. To breed better-quality alcohol beverage strains and improve the quality and characteristics of wine, this paper introduces the microbial diversity characteristics of the world's three major brewing alcohols: beer, wine, and yellow wine, as well as the breeding technologies of related strains. The application of culture selection technology in the study of microbial diversity of brewed wine was reviewed and analyzed. The strain selection technology and alcohol beverage process should be combined to explore the potential application of a diverse array of alcohol beverage strains, thereby boosting the quality and flavor of the alcohol beverage and driving the sustainable development of the alcoholic beverage industry.

BACKGROUND: Clear cell likelihood score (ccLS) is reliable for diagnosing small renal masses (SRMs). However, the diagnostic value of Clear cell likelihood score version 1.0 (ccLS v1.0) and v2.0 for common subtypes of SRMs might be a potential score extension. PURPOSE: To compare the diagnostic performance and interobserver agreement of ccLS v1.0 and v2.0 for characterizing five common subtypes of SRMs. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. POPULATION: 797 patients (563 males, 234 females; mean age, 53 ± 12 years) with 867 histologically proven renal masses. FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCES: 3.0 and 1.5 T/T2 weighted imaging, T1 weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging, a dual-echo chemical shift (in- and opposed-phase) T1 weighted imaging, multiphase dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging. ASSESSMENT: Six abdominal radiologists were trained in the ccLS algorithm and independently scored each SRM using ccLS v1.0 and v2.0, respectively. All SRMs had definite pathological results. The pooled area under curve (AUC), accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were calculated to evaluate the diagnostic performance of ccLS v1.0 and v2.0 for characterizing common subtypes of SRMs. The average κ values were calculated to evaluate the interobserver agreement of the two scoring versions. STATISTICAL TESTS: Random-effects logistic regression; Receiver operating characteristic analysis; DeLong test; Weighted Kappa test; Z test. The statistical significance level was P < 0.05. RESULTS: The pooled AUCs of clear cell likelihood score version 2.0 (ccLS v2.0) were statistically superior to those of ccLS v1.0 for diagnosing clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) (0.907 vs. 0.851), papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) (0.926 vs. 0.888), renal oncocytoma (RO) (0.745 vs. 0.679), and angiomyolipoma without visible fat (AMLwvf) (0.826 vs. 0.766). Interobserver agreement for SRMs between ccLS v1.0 and v2.0 is comparable and was not statistically significant (P = 0.993). CONCLUSION: The diagnostic performance of ccLS v2.0 surpasses that of ccLS v1.0 for characterizing ccRCC, pRCC, RO, and AMLwvf. Especially, the standardized algorithm has optimal performance for ccRCC and pRCC. ccLS has potential as a supportive clinical tool. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 4. TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 2.

ABSTRACT

The practical utilization of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) necessitates the creation of electrocatalysts that are both efficient and abundant in earth elements, capable of operating effectively within a wide pH range. However, this objective continues to present itself as an arduous obstacle. In this research, we propose the incorporation of sulfur vacancies in a novel heterojunction formed by MoS2@CoS2, designed to exhibit remarkable catalytic performances. This efficacy is attributed to the advantageous combination of the low work function and space charge zone at the interface between MoS2 and CoS2 in the heterojunction. The MoS2@CoS2 heterojunction manifests outstanding hydrogen evolution activity over an extensive pH range. Remarkably, achieving a current density of 10 mA cm-2 in aqueous solutions 1.0 M KOH, 0.5 M H2SO4, and 1.0 M phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), respectively, requires only an overpotential of 48, 62, and 164 mV. The Tafel slopes for each case are 43, 32, and 62 mV dec-1, respectively. In this study, the synergistic effect of MoS2 and CoS2 is conducive to electron transfer, making the MoS2@CoS2 heterojunction show excellent electrocatalytic performance. The synergistic effects arising from the heterojunction and sulfur vacancy not only contribute to the observed catalytic prowess but also provide a valuable model and reference for the exploration of other efficient electrocatalysts. This research marks a significant stride toward overcoming the challenges associated with developing electrocatalysts for practical hydrogen evolution applications.

Most multi-target movements are nonlinear in the process of movement. The common multi-target tracking filtering methods directly act on the multi-target tracking system of nonlinear targets, and the fusion effect is worse under the influence of different perspectives. Aiming to determine the influence of different perspectives on the fusion accuracy of multi-sensor tracking in the process of target tracking, this paper studies the multi-target tracking fusion strategy of a nonlinear system with different perspectives. A GM-JMNS-CPHD fusion technique is introduced for random outlier selection in multi-target tracking, leveraging sensors with limited views. By employing boundary segmentation from distinct perspectives, the posterior intensity function undergoes decomposition into multiple sub-intensities through SOS clustering. The distribution of target numbers within the respective regions is then characterized by the multi-Bernoulli reconstruction cardinal distribution. Simulation outcomes demonstrate the robustness and efficacy of this approach. In comparison to other algorithms, this method exhibits enhanced robustness even amidst a decreased detection probability and heightened clutter rates.

BACKGROUND: Early blight is one of the main diseases that causes serious pepper yield and quality reduction. The identification of the presymptomatic features during the incubation period is of great research significance, in that scientific prevention measures in the incubation period may effectively reduce the loss of peppers. RESULTS: The present study confirms the feasibility of the identification of presymptomatic features in pepper early blight by infrared thermography during the incubation period. The infrared thermal images of pepper blades were captured during the whole incubation period in our experiment. Evaluation parameters such as temperature uniformity (U) and the variation coefficient (C) were established by infrared thermal images for the blade temperature field. Evaluation parameters such as temperature uniformity U and variation coefficient C of pepper blades change during the time from being inoculated to significant morbidity. For cases of stabbing inoculation, there were no relatively obvious symptoms in visible light images until 96 h after inoculation, whereas some presymptomatic features appeared in infrared thermal images at 60 h after inoculation. Based on the uniformity changes (δU) and the variation coefficient changes (δC) in the temperature field distribution, the characteristic polynomial (CP)-GBDT model has been established by optimizing the gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) model. Compared with the GBDT mode, the CP-GBDT model accuracy increased from 87.5% to 91.7% on the test set. CONCLUSION: Evaluation parameters such as temperature uniformity U and variation coefficient C can be used to effectively characterize the presymptomatic features of pepper early blight by infrared thermography during the incubation period. The results of the present study can provide a reference for the detection of crop diseases in the incubation period. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Case-based learning (CBL) methods have gained prominence in medical education, proving especially effective for preclinical training in undergraduate medical education. Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a congenital heart disease characterized by four malformations, presenting a challenge in medical education due to the complexity of its anatomical pathology. Three-dimensional printing (3DP), generating physical replicas from data, offers a valuable tool for illustrating intricate anatomical structures and spatial relationships in the classroom. This study explores the integration of 3DP with CBL teaching for clinical medical undergraduates. METHODS: Sixty senior clinical medical undergraduates were randomly assigned to the CBL group and the CBL-3DP group. Computed tomography imaging data from a typical TOF case were exported, processed, and utilized to create four TOF models with a color 3D printer. The CBL group employed CBL teaching methods, while the CBL-3DP group combined CBL with 3D-printed models. Post-class exams and questionnaires assessed the teaching effectiveness of both groups. RESULTS: The CBL-3DP group exhibited improved performance in post-class examinations, particularly in pathological anatomy and TOF imaging data analysis (P < 0.05). Questionnaire responses from the CBL-3DP group indicated enhanced satisfaction with teaching mode, promotion of diagnostic skills, bolstering of self-assurance in managing TOF cases, and cultivation of critical thinking and clinical reasoning abilities (P < 0.05). These findings underscore the potential of 3D printed models to augment the effectiveness of CBL, aiding students in mastering instructional content and bolstering their interest and self-confidence in learning. CONCLUSION: The fusion of CBL with 3D printing models is feasible and effective in TOF instruction to clinical medical undergraduates, and worthy of popularization and application in medical education, especially for courses involving intricate anatomical components.

ABSTRACT

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most common mental illness affecting women after childbirth, and working mothers may be faced with unique challenges. This study aimed to examine the depression status among working postpartum women in 1 year of childbirth and explore the relationship between occupational factors and PPD in urban Beijing, China. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 554 postpartum women was conducted among ten community health service centers in six urban districts of Beijing, China. Sociodemographic, occupational, childbirth and postpartum information were collected. Depression status was obtained using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. Prevalence of postpartum depression (PPD) was assessed in relation to occupational characteristics, and influencing factors were analyzed through logistic regression. Results: Of the postpartum women, 29.42% met the criteria for depression. PPD prevalence was significantly higher among women employed in commercial enterprises (39.81%). The analysis of influencing factors showed that age, family or personal monthly income, maternity leave, feeding methods, and postpartum care affected the psychological health of occupational women after childbirth. Conclusion: PPD prevalence is notably elevated among women employed in commercial enterprises, and specific risk factors contribute to its occurrence. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to address these risk factors and prevent PPD in this population.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Yigong San (YGS) is a representative prescription for the treatment of digestive disorders, which has been used in clinic for more than 1000 years. However, the mechanism of its anti-gastric cancer and regulate immunity are still remains unclear. AIM: To explore the mechanism of YGS anti-gastric cancer and immune regulation. METHODS: Firstly, collect the active ingredients and targets of YGS, and the differentially expressed genes of gastric cancer. Secondly, constructed a protein-protein interaction network between the targets of drugs and diseases, and screened hub genes. Then the clinical relevance, mutation and repair, tumor microenvironment and drug sensitivity of the hub gene were analyzed. Finally, molecular docking was used to verify the binding ability of YGS active ingredient and hub genes. RESULTS: Firstly, obtained 55 common targets of gastric cancer and YGS. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes screened the microtubule-associated protein kinase signaling axis as the key pathway and IL6, EGFR, MMP2, MMP9 and TGFB1 as the hub genes. The 5 hub genes were involved in gastric carcinogenesis, staging, typing and prognosis, and their mutations promote gastric cancer progression. Finally, molecular docking results confirmed that the components of YGS can effectively bind to therapeutic targets. CONCLUSION: YGS has the effect of anti-gastric cancer and immune regulation.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a major contributor to cancer-related deaths, is particularly prevalent in Asia, largely due to hepatitis B virus infection. Its prognosis is generally poor. This case report contributes to the medical literature by detailing a unique approach in treating a large HCC through multidisciplinary collaboration, particularly in patients with massive HCC complicated by ruptured bleeding, a scenario not extensively documented previously. CASE SUMMARY: The patient presented with large HCC complicated by intratumoral bleeding. Treatment involved a multidisciplinary approach, providing individualized care. The strategy included drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization, sorafenib-targeted therapy, laparoscopic partial hepatectomy, and standardized sintilimab monoclonal antibody therapy. Six months after treatment, the patient achieved complete radiological remission, with significant symptom relief. Imaging studies showed no lesions or recurrence, and clinical assessments confirmed complete remission. This report is notable as possibly the first documented case of successfully treating such complex HCC conditions through integrated multidisciplinary efforts, offering new insights and a reference for future similar cases. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated effective multidisciplinary treatment for massive HCC with intratumoral bleeding, providing insights for future similar cases.
