ABSTRACT

As a rapidly growing family of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides, MXenes are recognized as promising materials for the development of future electronics and optoelectronics. So far, the reported patterning methods for MXene films lack efficiency, resolution, and compatibility, resulting in limited device integration and performance. Here, a high-performance MXene image sensor array fabricated by a wafer-scale combination patterning method of an MXene film is reported. This method combines MXene centrifugation, spin-coating, photolithography, and dry-etching and is highly compatible with mainstream semiconductor processing, with a resolution up to 2 µm, which is at least 100 times higher than other large-area patterning methods reported previously. As a result, a high-density integrated array of 1024-pixel Ti3 C2 Tx /Si photodetectors with a detectivity of 7.73 × 1014 Jones and a light-dark current ratio (Ilight /Idark ) of 6.22 × 106 , which is the ultrahigh value among all reported MXene-based photodetectors, is fabricated. This patterning technique paves a way for large-scale high-performance MXetronics compatible with mainstream semiconductor processes.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: To compare the survival outcomes and neurocognitive dysfunction in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with brain metastases (BM ≤10) treated by whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) with sequential integrated boost (SEB) or simultaneous integrated boost (SIB). MATERIALS: Fifty-two NSCLC patients with a limited number of BMs were retrospectively analyzed. Twenty cases received WBRT+SEB (WBRT: 3 Gy*10 fractions and BMs: 4 Gy*3 fractions; SEB group), and 32 cases received WBRT+SIB (WBRT: 3 Gy*10 fractions and BMs: 4 Gy*10 fractions; SIB group). The survival and mini-mental state examination (MMSE) scores were compared between the groups. RESULTS: The cumulative 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates in the SEB vs SIB groups were 60.0% vs 47.8%, 41.1% vs 19.1%, and 27.4% vs 0%, respectively. The median survival times in the SEB and SIB groups were 15 and 10 months, respectively. The difference in survival rate was significant (P = .046). Subgroup analysis revealed that 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates and median survival time in the SEB group were significantly superior to those of the SIB group, especially for male patients (age <60 years) with 1-2 BMs (P < .05). The MMSE score of the SEB group at 3 months after radiation was higher than that of the SIB group (P < .05). Nevertheless, WBRT+SEB required a longer treatment time and greater cost (P < .005). CONCLUSIONS: WBRT + SEB results in better survival outcomes than WBRT+SIB, especially for male patients (age <60 years) with 1-2 BMs. WBRT+SEB also appeared to induce less neurocognitive impairment than WBRT+SIB.

ABSTRACT

This paper, taking Chagan lake as the study area, uses and improves MWR V1.0 (Rivers (Lake) Health Assessment Indicators, Standards and Methods V1.0) relating to the theory and method of physical structure integrity assessment. A 500 m × 1000 m grid on the lakeshore zone is a basic evaluation unit, and then a lakeshore physical structural integrity evaluation system using remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) technology is established, which contains a target layer, criterion layer and indicator layer. The criterion layer consists of lakeshore condition, shoreline development rate and lake atrophy rate, and the index layer is composed of slope, vegetation cover rate and water level change rate, and another eight indicators. The results showed that for the 23 monitoring points in Chagan lake and the 15 monitoring points in Xinmiao lake, the evaluation results based on RS were 0.60-0.74 and 0.35-0.52, respectively, and the field evaluation results were 0.64-0.77 and 0.35-0.55, respectively. The evaluation results of the two methods consistently indicated that the physical structure of the lakeshore of Chagan lake was healthy and the Xinmiao's lakeshore was sub-health. On this basis, a piecewise evaluation method of physical structure integrity based on the division of the nature reserve function was proposed in this paper.

ABSTRACT

To better understand the physiological characteristics of the silky starling (Sturnus sericeus), its body temperature (Tb), basal metabolic rate (BMR), evaporative water loss (EWL) and thermal conductance (C) elicited by different ambient temperatures (Ta) (5-30 ℃) were determined in the present study. Our results showed that they have a high Tb (41.6 ± 0.1 ℃), a wide thermal neutral zone (TNZ) (20-27.5℃) and a relatively low BMR within the TNZ (3.37 ± 0.17 mL O2/g·h). The EWL was nearly stable below the TNZ (0.91 ± 0.07 mg H2O/g·h) but increased remarkably within and above the TNZ. The C was constant below the TNZ, with a minimum value of 0.14 ± 0.01 mL O2/g·h·â„ƒ. These findings indicate that the BMR, Tb and EWL of the silky starling were all affected by Ta, especially when Ta was below 20 ℃ and the EWL plays an important role in thermal regulation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of applying video endoscopic inguinal lymphadenectomy via hypogastric subcutaneous approach (VEIL-H) in the treatment of vulvar carcinoma. METHODS: From September 2009 to December 2012, 15 patients with vulvar carcinoma underwent VEIL-H plus radical vulvectomy at many participating hospitals. RESULTS: All were treated surgically. Two of them underwent laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy (LPL) upon the positive results of parotid operations with frozen section. The mean operative duration of VEIL-H (bilateral groin) were (80.8 ± 2.9) minutes. The mean total volume of blood loss in VEIL was (5.5 ± 0.4) ml, the mean drainage duration (6 ± 2) days and the average postoperative hospitalization (11 ± 4) days. The mean follow-up period was 13.0 months. One patient suffered local recurrence at Month 2 postoperation. CONCLUSION: VEIL-H is both feasible and safe in inguinal lymphadenectomy.

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to evaluate effects of storage temperatures (4°C and 20°C) and pig breeds (Laiwu pig and Large White pig) on the main antioxidative enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase) activity and lipid oxidation in porcine Longissimus dorsi muscle. Activities of antioxidative enzymes (AOE) decreased slightly during storage, regardless of storage temperatures. Muscle antioxidative enzymes activities stored at 4°C were higher than that stored at 20°C. Laiwu pig's enzymes activities were significantly (p<0.01) higher than Large White's. The level of malondialdehyde is a direct expression of the grade of lipid oxidation in meat. In our study, the malondialdehyde contents increased after 6 days storage. However, malondialdehyde contents of Laiwu pig were significantly (p<0.01) lower than Large White's. A lower content of malondialdehyde corresponds to a lower oxidation of lipids. These results indicated the muscle antioxidative ability of Laiwu pig was higher than Large White pig. It also implied that antioxidative enzymes were involved in the essentials and deciding mechanisms of meat quality by quenching oxygen free radicals and inhibiting lipid oxidation in muscle.
