ABSTRACT

Effective aggregation of temporal information of consecutive frames is the core of achieving video super-resolution. Many scholars have utilized structures such as sliding windows and recurrences to gather the spatio-temporal information of frames. However, although the performances of constructed video super-resolution models are improving, the sizes of the models are also increasing, exacerbating the demand on the equipment. Thus, to reduce the stress on the device, we propose a novel lightweight recurrent grouping attention network. The parameters of this model are only 0.878 M, which is much lower than the current mainstream model for studying video super-resolution. We have designed a forward feature extraction module and a backward feature extraction module to collect temporal information between consecutive frames from two directions. Moreover, a new grouping mechanism is proposed to efficiently collect spatio-temporal information of the reference frame and its neighboring frames. The attention supplementation module is presented to further enhance the information gathering range of the model. The feature reconstruction module aims to aggregate information from different directions to reconstruct high-resolution features. Experiments demonstrate that our model achieves state-of-the-art performance on multiple datasets.

ABSTRACT

Recently, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used in image denoising, and their performance has been enhanced through residual learning. However, previous research mostly focused on optimizing the network architecture of CNNs, ignoring the limitations of the commonly used residual learning. This paper identifies two of its limitations, which are the neglect of image information and the lack of effective consideration of image self-similarity. To solve these limitations, this paper proposes a compositional denoising network (CDN), which contains two sub-paths, the image information path (IIP) and the noise estimation path (NEP), respectively. IIP is trained via an image-to-image method to extract image information. For NEP, it utilizes image self-similarity from the perspective of training. This similarity-based training method constrains NEP to output similar estimated noise distributions for different image patches with a specific kind of noise. Finally, image information and noise distribution information are comprehensively considered for image denoising. Experimental results indicate that CDN outperforms other CNN-based methods in both synthetic and real-world image denoising, achieving state-of-the-art performance.

ABSTRACT

A modified total variation MRI image denoising method is proposed in this paper. First, the proposed method removes the noise in K-space in compressed sensing MRI reconstruction. Then, the removed K-space data is used as a partial frequency observation in compressed sensing MRI model. The proposed method shows better results than RecPF method, LDP method, TVCMRI method, and FCSA method in sparse MRI reconstruction. The proposed method is tested against Shepp-Logan phantom and real MR images corrupted by noise of different intensity level, and it gives better Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), the relative error (ReErr), and the structural similarity (SSIM) than RecPF, LDP, TVCMRI, and FCSA.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the changes of mTOR signal pathway in HeLa cells under different nutritional conditions infected with Coxsackie virus B3 (CVB3). METHODS: The HeLa cells were cultured with two methods: the conventional culture method cultured HeLa cells with medium with 10% fetal bovine serum for 24 h and changed the medium next day, and then infected with CVB3; the serum starvation method cultured HeLa cells with medium without fetal bovine serum for 24 h, and then infected with CVB3. The expression of the coat protein of CVB3, mTOR, p70S6K mRNA was detected with RT-PCR at different time points. RESULTS: The virus group showed the expressions of mTOR and p70S6K mRNA were significantly higher than those in the control group at 12 h and 24 h (P<0.05) in the conventional culture. The virus group showed the expressions of mTOR and p70S6K mRNA were lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05) in the starvation serum. The expression of mTOR mRNA in the starvation serum virus group was higher than that in the conventional culture virus group (all P<0.05) and the control group. The expression of p70S6K mRNA was not significantly different in the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: CVB3 can down-regulate the expressions of mTOR and p70S6K mRNA. The mTOR expression in the starvation serum is higher than that in the conventional culture.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To study the safety and immunogenicity of the Bilive combined hepatitis A and B vaccine produced by Sinovac Biotech Co., Ltd. METHODS: Samples were selected from first year students of a senior high school (adults group) and first to fifth grade 1-5 students of 3 primary schools (children group). Those who were susceptible to both hepatitis A virus (HAV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV), HAV only or HBV only were assigned to group AB, A and B respectively and were vaccinated with three doses (0, 1 and 6 month schedule) of Bilive combined hepatitis A and B vaccine, inactivated hepatitis A vaccine and recombined hepatitis B vaccine respectively. The dosage for adult group was 500 U hepatitis A antigen and/or 10 micro g hepatitis B surface antigen and the dosage for children group was half the dosage of adult group. The potential adverse effects were observed within 72 hours after vaccination. Serum samples were collected for testing anti-HAV and anti-HBs at month 2 and 7 after the initial dose. RESULTS: The rates of local adverse effects were 0.58% and 2.56% in children AB group and adults AB group and the general adverse effects rates were 9.88% and 5.45% respectively. Both local and general adverse effect rates were not significantly different to the control group. The sero-conversion rate of anti-HAV in children and adults AB group reached 100%, one month after 3 doses. The geometric mean titer (GMTs) reached 33,910 mIU/ml and 23,435 mIU/ml respectively, significant higher than that in control group (group A). The sero-conversion rates of anti-HBs were 97.30% and 96.63%, and GMTs were 103 mIU/ml and 102 mIU/ml in children and adults AB group respectively. No significant difference on sero-conversion and GMT was observed when compared with control group. CONCLUSION: The Bilive combined hepatitis A and B vaccine had good safety profile, and the immunogenicity both on anti-HAV and anti-HBs was similar to that of separated components.
