ABSTRACT

New models of a sensor matrix and of a device designed for biomedical diagnostics are described. A radio-induction analysis technique applicable to hemodynamic parameters as well as the related equipment and soft meant for evaluating the functional condition of the cardiovascular system were elaborated. The potentialities of using the above computer system in medical diagnostics are defined.

ABSTRACT

New models of the matrix of sensors and devices operating in the meter-range are presented for use in the medical diagnostics. A technique of a remotely controllable analysis of respiratory volumes and a method for the functional visualization of respiration were worked out. The possibilities of using the DU and FD-P pulmonology computer systems in medicine were studied.

ABSTRACT

One hundred seventeen patients, aged 16-75 years, with orofacial pains were studied. Borderline psychic disorders were detected in 106 cases, schizophrenia--in 11 cases. Facial pain was characterized by (1) polymorphism of sensations changing their site and duration, (2) absence of orofacial sensory deficits, (3) symptoms "mosaic"--a combination of separate signs specific for various "organic" facial pain, (4) absence of objective changes in oral cavity and facial region, (5) key role of psychoemotional factors in pain recurrence and intensification, (6) non-opioid analgesics and carbamazepine inefficacy. A systematics for facial pains of psychic genesis, comprising two groups of disorders, was elaborated. The first group includes facial pain and odontalgia in borderline psychic disorders--neurotic (somatoform, hypochondriac and hysteric) disorders, affective ones (mild depressive episodes and dystimia) and paranoic personality disorder. The second group comprises orofacial cenesthopathies in neurotic-like (schizotypal disorders) and paranoid types of schizophrenia.

ABSTRACT

45 patients were observed in the periods of both acute herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). In most of the patients herpetic eruptions were located in the areas of innervation of the first branch of the trigeminal nerve. In acute period of the disease there were used aciclovir, helepin or alpisarinum, antiherpetic immunoglobulin, deoxyribonuclease, non-narcotic analgetics were used. Of 28 patients residual PHN was observed in 6 cases, delayed PHN (during 3 months)--in 2 patients. The PHN development was characteristic for elderly patients, delayed request for medical care, concomitant diseases, eruptions with hemorrhagic component and secondary pyodermia and considerable residual sensory deficit. In therapy of PHN the most effective drugs were amitriptylin, non-narcotic analgetics, anticonvulsants as well as acupuncture and electroacupuncture. Relief of a typical deafferentation of pain syndrome was achieved by means of ultrasonic destruction of the trigeminal nucleus (one case). Early therapy of acute herpes zoster does not prevent completely PHN development, but it decreased considerably probability of its forming as well as the severity of its course.

ABSTRACT

Radioprotective, with respect to the whole body and reproductive system, geroprotective and anticarcinogenic properties of carotinyl after single acute external gamma-irradiation or exposure to tritium oxide have been revealed. It is concluded that the use of beta-carotene-containing substances is highly promising in preventing remote effects of chronic irradiation at low rates of absorbed doses, particularly the effects of incorporated radioactive substances.

ABSTRACT

External gamma-irradiation (7.74 and 15.48 x 10(-2) C/kg) does not influence the distribution of deuterium oxide within a rat body: it is distributed uniformly among the organs and tissues as it is observed in nonirradiated animals. The effect of external irradiation favors the retention of deuterium oxide within the organs and tissues. The delayed excretion of deuterium oxide from the body can enhance the biological effect. This should be taken into account in standardizing the combined radiation effects.

ABSTRACT

The authors analyse results of the treatment of 120 patients with vertebrogenic radicular pain syndromes by reflexotherapy, electropuncture, electroacupuncture and acupuncture, applied both alone and combined under conditions of a neurological department. Examination of the patients included a comprehensive analysis of neurological symptomatology and its variations in the time course of the treatment exercised according to a specially elaborated schedule of case history. Approaches to the choice of the most effective methods of reflexotherapy, depending on the extent of injury, intensity of the pain syndrome and the state of the vegetative nervous system are offered and the efficacy of the methods of reflexotherapy is clinically compared.
