ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the association between different feeding patterns, emotional states, and salivary oxytocin (OT) levels during breastfeeding. Methods:From January to December 2019, 153 pairs of 3-month-old infants and their mothers were recruited from 4 maternal and child health hospitals in Chongqing, Liuzhou, Dalian and Hangzhou in China.Saliva samples were collected from the mothers at the first 5 minutes of feeding, 5 minutes during feeding, and 10 minutes after feeding.Edinburgh postnatal depression scale (EPDS) was used to evaluate maternal depression.Infants were divided into exclusive breastfeeding group and artificial feeding group according to feeding patterns.ELISA of salivary oxytocin was performed by ELISA kits, and the OT levels measured at the 3 time points were converted using linear interpolation.Area under the curve with respect to ground(OTAUCG) was used to represent the total concentration of salivary OT during the mother's breastfeeding.SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Multiple linear regression analysis and two factors analysis of variance were used to explore the association between different feeding methods, emotional state and salivary oxytocin during breastfeeding. Results:The results of the two factors analysis of variance showed that the interaction between feeding pattern and mother's emotion was not significant ( F=2.440, P=0.120), the main effect of mother's emotion was not significant ( F=0.380, P=0.539), and the main effect of feeding style was significant ( F=3.350, P=0.021). The level of OTAUCG under pure breastfeeding ((151 561.47±75 738.11) pg/mL) was higher than that under artificial feeding ((122 269.03±65 029.88) pg/mL), and the difference was statistically significant ( P=0.02). There was no statistically significant difference in OTAUCG levels between mothers with normal emotions ((146 106.37±75 106.76) pg/mL) and mothers with depressed emotions ((129 079.56±67 565.87) pg/mL) ( P=0.221). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that artificial feeding had a negative predictive effect on maternal salivary OT levels compared to exclusive breastfeeding( β=-0.211, t=-2.513, P=0.013). Conclusion:Feeding pattern is a factor that affects the mother's salivary OT level, and breastfeeding can improve the mother's OT level.

ABSTRACT

@#To investigate the pharmacodynamic effects and mechanism of Zhuling Jianpi capsule(Zhuling) on 2,4, 6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced experimental colitis in rats. The experimental colitis model was established by enema with 2.5% TNBS.The rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group,Changyanning (180 mg/kg) group and Zhuling low-dose (40 mg/kg) group and Zhuling high-dose (120 mg/kg) group. After modeling, the rats were executed after 7 days of drug treatment.During this period, the disease activity status of the rats was observed, and the body weights of the rats were recorded daily. At the end of the experiment, the colonic tissues were obtained for the analysis of the expression of hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. The myeloperoxidase (MPO) enzyme activity,mRNA expression levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-1β, IFN-γ, IL-10) were determined, and the levels of intestinal tight junction proteins and serum inflammatory factor levels were measured. The results showed that compared with model group, the administration of Zhuling significantly alleviated the weight loss and elevated the disease activity index (DAI) caused by TNBS, relieved the shortening, edema and pathological damage of colonic tissue, reduced inflammatory cell infiltration, destruction of crypt and loss of goblet cells, decreased the MPO enzyme activity of colonic tissue, iNOS and pro-inflammatory cytokines in colon, increased the levels of colonic tight junction protein (occludin, ZO-1), and decreased serum levels of inflammatory factors (IL-6,IL-1β).The results suggest that Zhuling administration ameliorates TNBS-induced experimental colitis in rats by decreasing the level of inflammatory factors and increasing the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins. This experiment could provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of Zhuling.

ABSTRACT

Taking "count down your weight—start from 'diet'" as an example, this article discusses the design and practice of SPOC (small private online course) mixed teaching based on MOOC (massive open online course) in general medical courses. By designing teaching methods and teaching content, and using formative evaluation methods, the SPOC mixed teaching was implemented for 201 students from Sichuan University in the spring of 2020. According to the teaching evaluation and preliminary teaching effect, students generally believed that teaching resources were relatively abundant and the communication effects were generally recognized, as well as, it could significantly improve students' interest in and effect of general medical courses.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveWe evaluated the change in mental health and sleep quality of college students at four time periods. MethodsMental health status and sleep quality were using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) questionnaire across four time periods. Psychology interventions were carried out from the third period. ResultsStudents in the third period had higher PSQI total scores [mean (SD), 6.01 (3.27)] than those in the first period [5.60 (3.11)], second period [4.17 (2.10)] and fourth period [4.09 (2.80)]. After adjustment for covariates there was a decline of 1.89 points in the PSQI in the fourth period compared with the highest period. The SCL-90-R scores were highest in the second period [121.19 (47.83)], and were higher than the scores in the first [107.60 (52.21)] and second period [107.79 (27.20)] and lowest in the fourth period [97.82 (17.12)]. The decline in scores was 23.38 points after adjustment for covariates. The prevalence of psychological distress and sleep disturbances respectively decreased from 28.6% to 11.7% and from 10.4% to 2.6% comparing to the highest period. Sleep quality showed a significant positive correlation with mental health status. ConclusionsThe pattern of change in mental health status was different to that of sleep quality. The implementation of comprehensive psychology intervention may improve mental health and sleep quality. These findings may inform public health policy during the reopening of schools in other regions.

ABSTRACT

Ectopic tooth is a common problem reported in clinics. Ectopic tooth generally occurs around its primary position, and long-distance displacement is rare. A case of ectopic maxillary premolar in palatal suture with a supernumerary tooth in the mentum region was reported in this study, and the relevant literature is presented in this paper.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To systematically review the effect of picture exchange communication system (PECS) on social communication and speech in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods Literatures were retrieved from PubMed, Medline, EBSCO, Elsvier, VIP, CNKI, evaluated and screened out. Results Six articles were included in the systematic review. Two of them researched the effect of PECS on social communication and speech, two for social communication and other two for speech. Four of them supported that PECS might promote the social communication, three of them supported that PECS promote the speech, and one indicated that PECS did less for speech. Conclusion PECS benefits social communication in children with ASD, especially for the request, and may facilitate the increase of the vocabulary and speech. The characteristics of children with ASD may associate with the efficacy of PECS.
