ABSTRACT

Data concerning the biological aspects of mastocytes, its pathology and the importance of childhood and adult mastocytosis are described. The role of drug allergy in mastocytosis is discussed. The psychopathological and neurochemical aspects of these conditions are exposed.

ABSTRACT

A brief description is made about the epidemiology and classification of adverse reactions to medications. The reaction is conceptualized by idiosyncrasy and common approaches are expressed between idiosyncrasy and a reaction by hypersensitivity. A brief explanation is given of how a medication becomes allergenic, and the factors that influence in the allergic potential of a medication are enumerated. The allergic manifestations that correspond to immunologic reactions of Gell and Coombs are described. The steps to follow before a probable drug-induced allergy are exposed, and some essential aspects of allergy to some medications in particular are related(AU)
