ABSTRACT

(AU)

The author talks about those patients who come to her office fearing psychic collapse. By means of different authors (Freud, Winnicott, Bion, Ferenczi, Botella and Green) she attempts to answer the metapsychological and clinical questions that these patients raise for us in treatment. She presents a case in which we may observe one woman’s primitive disintegrative anxiety and how in analysis a process is set in motion comparable to that of remembering everything that is unrepresentable in her, a process of remembering that which has been experienced but not represented, revealing a narcissistic maternal rêverie that has left the patient in a state of helplessness which is reactivated in different situations and is gradually modified during the process of analysis.

ABSTRACT

Alien invasive species are problematic both economically and ecologically, particularly on islands. As such, understanding how they interact with their environment is necessary to inform invasive species management. Here, we ask the following questions: What are the main functional traits that correlate with invasion success of alien plants on Robben Island? How does phylogenetic structure shape biotic interactions on the island? Using multiple approaches to explore these questions, we found that alien invasive species flower later during the year and for longer period, although flowering phenology was sensitive to alternative starting date. Additionally, we observed that alien invasive species are mostly abiotically pollinated and are generally hermaphroditic whilst their native counterparts rely on biotic pollinators, flower earlier, and are generally dioecious, suggesting that alien invasive and native species use different ecological niches. Furthermore, we found a facilitative interaction between an alien invasive legume and other invasive plants as predicted by the invasional meltdown hypothesis, but this does not influence the phylogenetic structure of plant communities. Finally, phylogenetically diverse set of native species are less receptive to alien invasive species. Collectively, our findings reveal how biotic interactions and phylogenetic relatedness structure alien invasive - native co-existence.

ABSTRACT

Separation, dependence and depression in adolescence. Addiction is a step, provisional but necessary for the psychological constitution of the subject. This is one of the forms of relation without which there can be no autonomy. But dependency also reflects a pathological condition in the process of adolescence where the ability to play with the object is replaced by the need to find an object which fills, as well as masks the distress of the subject and its difficulty to be separated. We establish the hypothesis that the pathological dependency is a way to fight against depression and its underlying anxiety of collapse.
