ABSTRACT

Haematological profile of patients with oral sub mucous fibrosis (OSMF) and its correlation with the severity of OSMF is evaluated. The study comprised of sixty participants with clinical diagnoses. They were divided into smaller groups based on the OSMF stage. Sixty age and gender matched healthy controls were chosen among patients presenting for routine hematological examinations and free of systemic illnesses. Assessment of iron, hemoglobin, and red cell indices in all study participants was carried out. It was observed that the values of haematological tests like (Hb (g/dL), PCV, MCV (fl), MCH, MCHC, Iron (mg/dL) and Vitamin B12 (pg/Ml) was greater in normal subjects as compared to OSMF patients. Values were found to decrease further as the severity (staging) of OSMF increased among OSMF patients. The findings were statistically significant showing decrease in the values of different haematological parameters as the stage of OSMF progressed from stage I to stage III.

Introduction Malaria, a common parasitic disease in tropical regions, produces hematological changes in patients. In the present study, we compare hematologic recovery between the chloroquine and artemether-lumefantrine treatment groups of patients with Plasmodium vivax malaria. Methodology This was a cross-sectional observational study comparing hematological parameters, including total and differential white blood cell counts, and platelet counts between two patient groups: one group with 48 patients receiving chloroquine, and the other with 47 patients receiving the artemether-lumefantrine combination. Both groups received primaquine to combat the hypnozoite stage. Results The rate of platelet count recovery was significantly faster in patients treated with the artemether-lumefantrine combination (p-value 0.002). Rates of recovery of the total white blood cell count and neutrophil count were faster with the artemether-lumefantrine combination, while the recovery of the lymphocyte count was faster in patients treated with chloroquine. However, these changes were statistically insignificant (p-values = 0.69, 0.42, and 0.65, respectively). Conclusion Based on hematological recovery, artemisinin combination therapy may be preferred over treatment with chloroquine in cases of P. vivax malaria. However, factors such as the adverse effect profile, cost-effectiveness, and chloroquine resistance need to be considered for the practical applicability of the same.

Introduction: Cattle health and welfare are monitored via the analysis of the haematological profile, and it shows cattle's ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions, pregnancy and lactation; profile changes also indicate reproductive disorders. The literature lacks reports of the examination of the haematological profile in cows up to the 50th day of pregnancy (dop). Therefore, this research examined that in cows up to this pregnancy stage. Material and Methods: A total of 101 Polish Holstein-Friesian black-and-white cows were divided into groups. The control groups consisted of non-pregnant heifers (group C00) and non-pregnant cows (group C0), and the experimental groups were pregnant heifers (group T1 at dop ≤ 28 and group T2 at dop ≥ 29-dop < 45) and pregnant cows (group T3 at dop ≥ 29-dop ≤ 50). In addition, the T3 group was divided into cows pregnant for up 45 dop and cows between 45 and 50 dop. Blood samples were collected in March and April 2021 from each animal and analysed. A transrectal ultrasound examination was performed to detect and confirm pregnancy. Results: Statistically significant differences (P ≤ 0.01) between the group of cows at dop < 45 dop and those at dop ≥ 45-dop ≤ 50 dop were noted in granulocyte percentage (GRA%), white and red blood cell counts (WBC/RBC), platelets (PLT), platelet distribution width (PDW), haematocrit (HCT) and lymphocyte percentage (LYM%). No statistically significant differences were found in the mean corpuscular haemoglobin, monocytes (MON), monocyte percentage (MON%), mean platelet volume (MPV), thrombocrit or red blood cell distribution width (RDW). Similar statistically significant differences (P ≤ 0.01) emerged between the groups of heifers in PLT, GRA, RBC, lymphocytes, LYM% and HCT, and no significant differences were found between MPV, MON, MON% or RDW. Conclusion: Examining the haematological profile in high-yielding cattle is vital in maintaining herd profitability and high reproduction, which depend on the quick diagnosis of disorders facilitated by haematology. This study analysed the haematology profile of dairy cattle at dop ≤ 50 for the first time, indicating changes in lymphocyte levels, which suggests that the animals experienced direct stress during the study.

ABSTRACT

Turbot aquaculture production is an important economic activity in several countries around the world; nonetheless, the incidence of diseases, such furunculosis, caused by the etiological agent A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida, is responsible for important losses to this industry worldwide. Given this perspective, this study aimed to evaluate early immune responses in turbot (S. maximus L.) following infection with A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida. For this, 72 fish were individually weighed and randomly distributed into 6 tanks in a circulating seawater system. For the bacterial challenge, half of the individuals (3 tanks with 36 individuals) were infected using a peritoneal injection with the bacterial suspension, while the other half of individuals were injected with PBS and kept as a control group. Several factors linked to the innate immune response were studied, including not only haematological (white blood cells, red blood cells, haematocrit, haemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, mean cell haemoglobin, mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration, neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, thrombocytes) and oxidative stress parameters, but also the analyses of the expression of 13 key immune-related genes (tnf-α, il-1ß, il-8, pparα-1, acox1, tgf-ß1, nf-kB p65, srebp-1, il-10, c3, cpt1a, pcna, il-22). No significant differences were recorded in blood or innate humoral parameters (lysozyme, anti-protease, peroxidase) at the selected sampling points. There was neither any evidence of significant changes in the activity levels of the oxidative stress indicators (catalase, glutathione S-transferase, lipid peroxidation, superoxide dismutase). In contrast, pro-inflammatory (tnf-α, il-1ß), anti-inflammatory (il-10), and innate immune-related genes (c3) were up-regulated, while another gene linked with the lipid metabolism (acox1) was down-regulated. The results showed new insights about early responses of turbot following infection with A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida.

ABSTRACT

Exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in crude oil has carcinogenic effects on various organ systems. This longitudinal cohort study examined the effects of oil spill exposure on the haematological, hepatic, and renal profiles of Rayong oil spill clean-up workers. The sample included 869 clean-up workers from the Rayong oil spill. Latent class mixture models were used to investigate and classify the longitudinal trajectories and trends of the haematological, hepatic, and renal indices. Subgroup analysis was used to evaluate the association between the urinary metabolites of PAHs and VOCs and haematological, hepatic, and renal parameters. Most clean-up workers (97.6%) had increasing levels of white blood cells (WBCs) (0.03 × 103 cells/µL), 94.90% of the workers had a significantly increasing trend of blood urea nitrogen (0.31 mg/dL per year), and 87.20% had a significantly increasing trend of serum creatinine (0.01 mg/dL per year). A high-decreasing trend of WBCs was seen in 2.42% (-0.73 × 103 per year). Post-exposure changes in haematological, renal, and hepatic profiles are present in workers exposed to the Rayong oil spill. This indicates possible long-term health complications and worsening renal function after exposure to PAHs and VOCs in crude oil.

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to determine the haematological and serum biochemical effect of rams fed graded levels of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) seed meal. In a 77-days feeding trial, sixteen west African dwarf rams, of 12 months old, were randomly allocated to four dietary treatments (4 animals per each), with different inclusion levels of kenaf seed meal as replacement with sorghum glume and cassava pulp, at 0 (K0), 15 (K15), 35 (K35) and 55 (K55) % respectively. Each animal was fed 5% of its body weight/head/day of the experimental diets and elephant grass with clean drinking water ad libitum. Two animals from each treatment were randomly selected and blood samples collected aseptically, via the jugular puncture for haematological and biochemical evaluation, at the termination of the experiment. The analysis of blood components at the end of the feeding trial revealed that packed cell volume, white blood cell and haemoglobin showed significant (P < 0.05) differences among the rams with packed cell volume, white blood cell, while the haemoglobin was significantly decreased in K55 (27.00%, 3200 × 103 µL and 8.95 g/dL respectively) than in K0, K15 and K35. There were also significant (P < 0.05) differences in all the serum biochemical analysis except in the albumin. It was concluded that kenaf seed meal can be inculcated in the diet of rams up to 35% without any deleterious effect on their haematology and serum biochemical characteristics. Feeding of kenaf seed meal above 35% inclusion level resulted in negative alteration of the white blood cells which could lead to the loss of their protective system, thereby preventing rapid and potent defence against infectious diseases.

ABSTRACT

Oxidative stability of fish oil supplements poses a considerable health risk which can be prevented by novel delivery systems. A newly developed formulation of microencapsulated sardine oil showed excellent oxidative stability in vitro. The present study's objective is to evaluate the new formulation in vivo as a potential new supplement which may improve antioxidant, haematological, and lipid profile. The optimisation of the sardine oil loaded microparticles (SO-M) and the characterisation have been presented briefly. The SO-M formulation was fed to male albino rats for two months. Following the feeding experiment, haemoglobin content, platelet and RBC count were assessed in the control and treated group. Similarly, levels of serum cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, and metabolic enzyme biomarkers, namely catalase, SOD, GST, AST, ALT, ACP and ALP, were compared. The blood analysis showed a significant increase in haemoglobin, platelets and RBC count in the treated group. Lipid profiling showed that both triglycerides and LDL levels were decreased in the sample treated group. This study also showed significant modulation of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase, SOD and GST. The new formulation of PUFA rich sardine oil significantly improved the in vivo antioxidant, haematological and lipid profile, suggesting potential use as a dietary supplement. OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of beta s globin gene haplotypes in Nigerian patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) and to measure their correlation with clinical and haematological characteristics. METHODS: This study enrolled patients with SCD and collected their peripheral blood for restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis in order to identify five polymorphic sites in the ß-globin gene cluster. RESULTS: A total of 245 homozygous SCD patients (490 alleles) were included in the study. Among the analysed alleles, 426 (86.9%) had the Benin (BEN) haplotype; 19 (3.9%) had the Senegal (SEN) haplotype; 31 (6.3%) had the Cameroon haplotype; five (1.0%) had the Bantu/Central African Republic haplotype; and nine 9 (1.8%) had atypical haplotypes. No significant association was observed between the haplotypes and haematological events, although patients with the BEN/SEN haplotype showed improved red blood cell counts, haemoglobin levels and red blood cell width index. No significant association was observed between the haplotypes and the three clinical manifestations, although patients with the BEN/SEN haplotype showed a four-fold lower frequency of painful episodes. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that the SEN haplotype combined with the BEN haplotype might contribute toward a better haematological profile and milder clinical severity in SCD.

BACKGROUND: Malaria remains a major public health problem in Indonesian Papua, with children under five years of age being the most affected group. Haematological changes, such as cytopenia that occur during malaria infection have been suggested as potential predictors and can aid in the diagnosis of malaria. This study aimed to assess the haematological alterations associated with malaria infection in children presenting with signs and symptoms of malaria. METHODS: A retrospective study was performed by collecting data from the medical records of malaria patients at Sorong Regional General Hospital, Sorong, West Papua, Indonesia, both from outpatient and inpatient clinics, from January 2014 until December 2017. The laboratory profile of children suffering from malaria was evaluated. RESULTS: One hundred and eighty-two children aged 1 month to 18 years old were enrolled. The subjects were mostly male (112, 61.5%) with a mean age of 6.45 years (SD = 4.3 years). Children below 5 years of age suffered the most from malaria in this study (77, 42.3%). One hundred two subjects (56%) were infected with Plasmodium falciparum. Half of the enrolled subjects (50%) had haemoglobin level (Hb) between 5.1 and 10 gr/dL. A total of 41 children (53.2%) less than 5 years old suffered from P. falciparum infection. In the age group of 5-10 years, there were 34 children (57.6%) who suffered from P. falciparum, and in the age group > 10 years, 27 children (58.7%) suffered from P. falciparum infection. Only 4 subjects (5.2%) in the less than 5 years old age group had mixed malaria infection. Among eight predictors of the haematological profile, there were five predictors that were significantly associated with the diagnostic criteria, namely haemoglobin, haematocrit, leukocytes, platelets and monocytes (p < 0.05). Generally, clinical symptoms are not significantly associated with a malaria diagnosis, and only one variable showed a significant relationship, pale, with a P value of 0.001. CONCLUSIONS: Children with malaria had changes in some haematological markers, with anaemia, low platelet count, white blood count, and lymphocyte count being the most important predictors of malaria infection in the study area. These markers could be used to raise suspicion of malaria in children living in high endemic areas, such as West Papua.

Introduction Sickle cell anaemia (SCA) is an inherited, autosomal recessive condition that results from a mutation in the ß-globin gene. Vascular occlusion is the underlying mechanism behind a myriad of complications encountered. This vascular occlusion is primarily caused by the increased tendency of red blood cells (RBC) to adhere to the vascular endothelium, and the activation of platelets and total leucocyte count (TLC), hence the need for a steady-state haematological profile in these patients. Method This was a cross-sectional study conducted over four months at a sickle cell clinic. Haemoglobin (Hb) concentration, haematocrit, platelet, TLC, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) of the subjects were recorded and analysed. Results Ninety-nine subjects aged 1-18 years were recruited for the study. There were 53 (53.5%) males. Leucocytosis was seen in 80 (80.8%), anaemia in 99 (100%), and thrombocytosis in 30 (30.3%) patients. The mean Hb, TLC and platelets were 7.9 ± 1.3g/dl, 14.3 ± 4.5 x 103/mm3 and 391.5 ± 182.6 x 103/mm3 respectively. Mean MCV, MCH and MCHC were 81.3 ± 7.1 fl, 28.6 ± 2.9 pg and 35.2 ± 1.7 g/dl respectively. Children aged one to four years had the highest TLC (p=0.002) but the lowest mean Hb and platelet (p=0.094 and 0.06) respectively. The mean MCV, MCH and MCHC were lowest in children aged one to four years (p=0.047, 0.001 and 0.001). Conclusion Anaemia, leucocytosis and thrombocytosis are characteristics features of children with SCA, especially in male and younger subjects. Although Iron markers are generally normal in children with SCA, those under the age of five years tend to have lower values.

Testosterone treatment stimulates the production of red blood cells and alters iron homeostasis. Thus, we investigated whether the 'haematological module' of the athlete biological passport (ABP) used by the World Anti-Doping Agency can be used to indicate misuse of testosterone. Nineteen eugonadal men received intramuscular injections of either 250 mg Sustanon®, a blend of four testosterone esters, or placebo on days 0 and 21 in a randomized, placebo-controlleddouble-blind design. Urine samples and blood samples were collected twice pre-treatment, at least 5 days apart, and on days 1, 3, 5, 10 and 14 post-injections to assess steroidal and haematological biomarkers of the ABP. The steroidal profile was flagged suspicious in all Sustanon®-treated subjects, whereas the haematological profile was flagged suspicious in six out of nine subjects. When both sensitivity and specificity were considered, reticulocyte percentage (RET%) appeared as the best marker of the haematological module for implying testosterone ester misuse. Atypical blood passport samples were used to select time points for further isotope-ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) analysis of testosterone and its metabolites in simultaneously collected urine. In addition to the testosterone (T) to epitestosterone (E) ratio, the RET% and OFF-Score could help identify suspicious samples for more targeted IRMS testing. The results demonstrate that unexpected fluctuations in RET% can indicate testosterone doping if samples are collected 3-10 days after injection. From an anti-doping perspective, the haematological and steroidal modules of the ABP should complement each other when planning targeted follow-up testing and substantiating likely misuse of testosterone.

ABSTRACT

The worldwide consumption of antidepressants is raising as well as their concentrations in the aquatic environment. This increases the risk of food chain contamination and bioaccumulation in aquatic biota. The aim of this study was to describe a potential risk of sertraline as a pollutant from water environment, wherein rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) has been chosen as the test organism, because predatory fish are on the top of the food chain in the aquatic environment. The effects of foodborne sertraline were tested on rainbow trout during a 28-day toxicity test according to OECD 215 method. Sertraline was incorporated in commercial feed at a dose of 4.4 µg/kg (environmental concentration), 42 µg/kg and 400 µg/kg. The results confirmed that sertraline has a significant effect on fish behaviour, resulting in suppression of the escape reflex and increased resistance to stress. Moreover, increased Fultons condition factor was found in fish fed with the highest concentration of sertraline. Haematological analysis revealed a statistically significant increase in the number of neutrophilic bands and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, and decreased number of lymphocytes. The results of biochemical examination showed a statistically significant decrease in ammonia and lactate concentrations and histological examination revealed changes in gills and caudal kidney. Although sertraline reduces stress in fish, the decline in nonspecific immunity is a risk to fish population stability.

INTRODUCTION: Haemozoin -containing leucocytes (HCL) can be used to predict severe malaria. METHODOLOGY: A case -control study was conducted in Singa, Sudan, to investigate the haematological values and HCL in children with severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria. The cases were children with severe P. falciparum malaria (67). The two groups of controls were patients with uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria (63) and healthy children (50). RESULTS: The mean (±SD) age was 5.5 (±3.8) years. In comparison with children with uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria, children with severe P. falciparum malaria had significantly lower haemoglobin and platelet counts, and significantly higher lymphocyte counts, red cell distribution width (RDW), and platelet distribution width (PDW). The rate of haemozoin -containing monocytes (percentage of children positive for this parameter in each group) was 91.0%, 84.6% and 50.0%, P<0.001 in children with severe P. falciparum, uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria and negative controls, respectively. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves for blood parameters and HCL were plotted and the areas under the curve (AUC) were calculated for the prediction of severe P. falciparum malaria infection. The ROC curve analysis, showed a fair predictability of malaria for haemoglobin (AUC = 0.74, sensitivity = 76.0% and specificity  = 60.3%, cut-off  = 9.7g/dl), lymphocytes (AUC = 0.71, sensitivity = 71.3% and specificity  = 62.2%, cut-off  = 1.95×103/mm3), PDW (AUC = 0.69, sensitivity = 80.1% and specificity = 66.3%, cut-off  = 15.34 %) and haemozoin in the monocytes (AUC = 0.68, sensitivity = 68.2% and specificity = 65.2%, cut-off =5.5 %). CONCLUSION: RDW, PDW and HCL could be used to predict severe malaria in this setting.

INTRODUCTION: Acute bronchiolitis is one of major disease affecting the lower airways in infants and children with Respiratory Syncitial Virus (RSV) being most common causative organism accounting for 50%-80% of bronchiolitis cases. AIM: To analyse the demographic characteristics, clinical features and haematological profile of children with Bronchiolitis. To compare the findings of demographic characteristics, clinical features and haematological profile between RSV and Non -RSV bronchiolitis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a prospective study, conducted in a teritiary care center for 1 year period from Jan 2015 to Dec 2015. The demographic characteristics, clinical features and haematological profile of children aged between 1 month to 3 years who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were noted in predesigned proforma, nasopharyngeal swab was sent for RSV analysis and then the findings of the parameters were compared between the two groups of RSV bronchiolitis and Non RSV bronchiolitis. RESULTS: Among 80 cases with 40 in each group, children below the age of 1year were affected more in RSV group, with male preponderance. Among the clinical features except that 89.7% of RSV cases had wheeze that was statistically significant with no difference in other features. Investigations showed no much difference in both the groups. Percentage of Non RSV subjects who received nebulisation with bronchodilators, steroid and antibiotic therapy were higher than RSV subjects. The hospital stay was significantly higher in RSV cases and none of the study participants met with mortality. CONCLUSION: Children with RSV bronchiolitis had prolonged hospital stay compared to Non RSV group. Need for nebulisation with bronchodilators, steroids and antibiotic therapy was more in Non RSV group.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) treatment may present significant hematological disorder and some anti-TB drugs also have serious side effects. Although many other diseases may be reflected by the blood and its constituents, the abnormalities of red cells, white cells, platelets, and clotting factors are considered to be primary hematologic disorder as a result of tuberculosis treatment. The aim of this study was to determine hematological profiles of TB patients before and after intensive phase treatment. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine hematological profiles of TB patients before and after intensive phase treatment. METHODS: Smear positive new TB patients were recruited successively and socio-demographic characteristics were collected using pre-tested questionnaire. About 5 ml of venous blood was collected from each patient and the hematological profiles were determined using Mindry BC 3000 plus automated hematology analyzer. RESULT: The hematological profiles of TB patients showed statistically significant difference in hematocrit (38.5 % versus 35.7 %), hemoglobin (12.7 g/lversus11.8 g/l) and platelet (268 × 10(3)/µlversus239 × 10(3)/µl) values of patients before initiation of treatment and after completion of the intensive phase of tuberculosis treatment, respectively (P < 0.05). The red cell distribution width (RDW) of treatment naïve TB patients was by far lower (17.6 ± 7.09 %) than the corresponding RDW (31.9 ± 5.19 %) of intensive phase treatment completed patients. Among TB patients that had high platelet distribution width (PDW) (n = 11) before initiation of TB treatment, 10 demonstrated lower PDW values after completion of the intensive phase. There was no significant difference on total white blood cell count among TB patients before and after completion of the 2 month treatment. CONCLUSION: The levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelet count of the TB patients were significantly lowered after completion of the intensive phase of TB treatment. Significant variation of the RDW and PDW were also observed among treatment naïve and treatment completed patients. Hematological abnormalities resulted from TB treatment should be assessed continuously throughout the course of tuberculosis therapy.

Introdução: O extrato de Gingko biloba (GBE) é um fitoterápico usado no tratamento de doenças degenerativas e em estudos recentes tem sido demonstrado efeito nefro e hepatoprotetor de seus componentes. Material e métodos: No presente estudo, 120 ratas Wistar prenhes foram distribuídas em dois grupos experimentais ­ GB 15 e GB 21 ­ tratadas, respectivamente, do primeiro ao oitavo dia da prenhez e do oitavo ao vigésimo dia com 0, 3,5; 7,0 ou 14mg/kg/dia de extrato aquoso de GBE, via gavagem. Os animais foram eutanaziados por exsanguinação total, sob anestesia, no 15º dia ou no 20º dia de prenhez. Os seguintes parâmetros foram avaliados no sangue coletado: eritrograma, leucograma, dosagens séricas de ureia, creatinina, ALT, AST, colesterol e triglicérides. Resultados: Não foram encontradas alterações significativas no padrão hematológico de ratas tratadas nos grupos GB 15 e GB 21. Em relação ao perfil bioquímico, o grupo GB 15, tratado com as doses de 7 e 14mg/kg, evidenciou aumento dos níveis de colesterol e redução de ALT, ureia e creatinina. No grupo GB 21, tratado com as mesmas doses, não se observou aumento de colesterol, mas sim de ureia, enquanto que ALT e creatinina reduziram-se da mesma maneira que no grupo GB 15. Conclusões: Os resultados sugerem que o GBE não altera os padrões hematológicos, porém, no início da gestação aumenta os níveis de colesterol, enquanto que no final da gestação não altera o colesterol, aumentando a ureia, e durante os dois períodos de gestação reduz creatinina e ALT, o que parece confirmar os efeitos nefro e hepatoprotetor.


Introduction: The Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) is a phytotherapic used in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and recent studies have demonstrated nephro and hepatoprotector effects of its components. Material and methods: In this study 120 pregnant Wistar rats were distributed among two experimental groups - GB15 e GB21 ­ treated respectively from the first to eight day of pregnancy and to the eight to de 20th day, with zero, 3.5, 7 or 14mg/kg/day of aqueous extract of Gingko biloba by gavagem. Animals were euthanized by exsanguinations under anesthesia on 15th or 21th pregnancy day. The following parameters were analyzed in the blood hemogram, hematocrit, hemoglobin, total leukocytes, cholesterol, triglycerides, urea, creatinine, aspartato aminotransferase (AST/TGO), alanina aminotransferase (ALT/TGP). Results: No hematological alteration was observed in either group. With respect to biochemistry profile the GB15, group treated with 7 and 14mg/kg, showed higher level of cholesterol and lower level of ALT, urea and creatinin. In the group GB21, treated with the same dose, there was no cholesterol alteration but higher level of urea whereas ALT and creatinin where lower than control as in GB15 group. Conclusions: GBE seems do not alter hematological profile but at early gestation increase the cholesterol level. At latter gestation do not alter cholesterol but increase urea levels. At all period of the gestation the GBE decrease creatinine and ALT seems to confirm possible nepro and hepatic protector effect.
