ABSTRACT

Purpose: BSA-biomineralized Gd nanoparticles (Gd@BSA NPs) have been recognized as promising nanoscale MR contrast agents. The aim of this study was to carry out a preclinical evaluation of these NPs in a middle-sized animal model (rabbits). Methods: New Zealand white rabbits were treated intravenously with Gd@BSA NPs (0.02 mmol Gd/kg) via a clinically-used high-pressure injector, with commercial Gd-diethylene triamine pentaacetate (Gd-DTPA)-injected group as control. Then MR angiography was performed according to the standard clinical protocol with a 3.0-T MR scanner. The SNR and CNR of the main arteries and branches were monitored. Pharmacokinetics and bioclearance were continuously evaluated in blood, urine, and feces. Gd deposition in vital organs was measured by ICP‒MS. Weight monitoring, HE staining, and blood biochemical analysis were also performed to comprehensively estimate systemic toxicity. Results: The ultrasmall Gd@BSA NPs (<6 nm) exhibited high stability and T1 relaxivity. Compared to Gd-DTPA, Gd@BSA NPs demonstrated superior vascular system imaging performance at ultralow doses, especially of the cardiac artery and other main branches, and exhibited a significantly higher SNR and CNR. Notably, the Gd@BSA NPs showed a shorter half-life in blood, less retention in organs, and improved biocompatibility. Conclusion: The preclinical evaluations here demonstrated that Gd@BSA NPs are promising and advantageous MR CA candidates that can be used at a low dose with excellent MR imaging performance, thus suggesting its further clinical trials and applications.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the characters of using the high pressure injector in the contrast CT scanning for children. Methods Summarized the nursing measures of 407 children who had accepted the contrast CT scanning. Results There were 369 children have obtained perfect effects of CT scanning, 35 children have obtained general effects and there were 2 children failure. Conclusion The method of using high pressure injector in the contrast CT scanning for children is convenient, safety and effective.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the problems of using high pressure injector in the 16-detector-row CT. Methods Reviewed and analyzed the courses of using high pressure injector in the 16-detector-row CT for 799 patients. Results 774 patients obtained successful infusion, contrast medium hydrops were occurred in 20 patients,2 patients were infusion failure and 3 patients were redid for misoperation. Conclusion Master the details of operating high pressure injector can alleviate the pain of patients, and then obtain the satisfactory effect.

ABSTRACT

Objective To design two-point two-line vein pricking for avoiding pain for patients and blood osmosis out of the vein caused by the high-pressure and fast-speed of the current high-pressure injector. Methods 19G butterfly-wing vein transfusion needle in the length of 19mm was used. The first point was needled with the needle tip under the skin and the first needling line was above and parallel the blood vessel in the length of 10-12mm.The second point was needled, with the second needle tip and needle line in the blood vessel, and the length of needling is 7-9mm.Results 100 persons were subjected. All the contrast medium and the physiologic saline were injected in vein in 98 persons, among which 2 had little hard tubercle in injecting area. Conclusion The two-point two-line vein pricking is safe for high pressure injector injecting in vein, and can prevent blood osmosis out of the vein.
