ABSTRACT

The neuroprotective ability of alkaloid-rich leaf extract of Dalbergiella welwitschii in streptozotocin-induced type 2 diabetic rats were investigated in this study. Dalbergiella welwitshii leaf alkaloid-rich extract was obtained using standard procedure. Streptozotocin was injected into the experimental animals intraperitoneally at a dose of 45 mg/mg body weight. Prior to this, the animals were given 20% (w/v) fructose for one week. The animals were grouped into five (n = 8), comprising of normal control (NC), diabetic control (DC), diabetic rats treated with low (50 mg/mg body weight) and high (100 mg/kg body weight) doses of Dalbergiella welwitschii alkaloid-rich leaf extracts (i.e., DWL and DWH respectively) and 200 mg/kg body weight of metformin (MET). The animals were sacrificed on the 21st day, blood and brain tissue were harvested and used for the determination of neurotransmitters, cholinesterase, some ATP activities, oxidative stress biomarkers and histological examination. The results show that diabetic rats placed on DWL, DWH and MET significantly (p < 0.05) reduced cholinergic, elevated some ATPase activities and ameliorated oxidative stress biomarkers. These were supported by the histological examination by improving neuroprotective effects in diabetic rats administered DWL, DWH and MET. Hence, it can be presumed that DWL and DWH could be beneficial in treating diabetic neurodegenerative diseases.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Cancer-associated ischemic stroke tends to extend over multiple vascular territories and develops under poor general conditions. Owing to the rarity of such cases and poor prognoses, no comprehensive studies on mechanical thrombectomy for cancer-associated ischemic stroke have been reported in Japan. The present study investigated the radiological and clinical characteristics of mechanical thrombectomy in patients with cancer-associated ischemic stroke at our institution. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 108 patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy for large cerebral artery occlusion between January 1, 2021, and October 31, 2022, at our institution. The characteristics of mechanical thrombectomy in the cancer-associated ischemic stroke group were compared with those in the control group. Results: Of the 108 patients (112 procedures), seven patients (eight procedures) with clinically diagnosed cancer-associated ischemic stroke underwent mechanical thrombectomy. Of the eight procedures, six were performed during hospitalization. In contrast, only 10 of 104 procedures were performed in the control group. The in-hospital onset rate was higher in the cancer-associated ischemic stroke group (75.0%) compared to that in the controls (9.6%); p <0.001. The puncture-to-reperfusion time was significantly longer in the cancer-associated ischemic stroke group in comparison to that in the controls with a median interquartile range of 69 minutes (60.0-82.0 minutes) and 59.5 minutes (44.5-69.3 minutes), respectively (p <0.01). However, the rates of successful recanalization defined as thrombolysis in cerebral infarction ≥2b were not significantly different between the cancer-associated ischemic stroke group and controls with values of 62.5% and 79.8%, respectively (p = 0.250). Of the eight cases in the cancer-associated ischemic stroke group, only one (12.5%) had a good outcome on a modified Rankin Scale score of 0 to 2 at discharge, in contrast to 23 of the 104 (23.1%) cases in the controls (p = 0.523). Histopathological examination of six retrieved thrombi in the cancer-associated stroke group using hematoxylin and eosin staining revealed that only one case showed an erythrocyte-dominant thrombus while five displayed a fibrinoplatelet-dominant component. Conversely, 65 of 92 retrieved thrombi in the control group were erythrocyte dominant. Cancer was pathologically diagnosed in four of seven patients, all of which were adenocarcinomas. Conclusion: Cancer-associated ischemic stroke tends to occur during hospitalization. Coagulation disorders associated with cancer, especially adenocarcinoma, may be related to the formation of thrombi with fibrinoplatelet-dominant components, leading to ischemic stroke. The procedural time for mechanical thrombectomy in cancer-associated ischemic stroke tends to be longer.

Purpose: To test the theory that invaginated ovarian surface epithelium and endometrial implants on the ovary form ovarian endometriomas. Methods: Adhesion sites of ovarian endometrioma on the peritoneum and consecutive ovarian endometrioma cyst wall, called non-adhesion sites, were histologically examined. DNA methylomes of the adhesion sites, non-adhesion sites, and blueberry spots were compared with those of ovary, endometrium, and peritoneum. Results: The non-adhesion sites showed an ovarian surface epithelium-like structure near the adhesion site, which continued to a columnar epithelium-like structure. Calretinin staining was strong in the ovarian surface epithelium-like structure but weak in the columnar epithelium-like structure. Estrogen receptors were absent in the ovarian surface epithelium-like structure, but present in the columnar epithelium-like structure. The adhesion sites had endometrial gland-like structures that expressed estrogen receptors. Analyses of DNA methylomes classified the non-adhesion sites and ovaries into the same group, suggesting that ovarian endometriomas originate from the ovarian surface epithelium. The adhesion sites, blueberry spots and peritoneum were classified in the same group, suggesting that the adhesion sites and blueberry spots originate from the peritoneum. Conclusions: The present results support the invagination theory. Ovarian endometriomas consist of invaginated ovarian surface epithelium with celomic metaplasia and endometrium implants on the peritoneum.

ABSTRACT

Pulmonary actinomycosis is a rare anaerobic infection with non specific clinical and radiographic presentations that delay diagnosis. Throughout literature, a significant number of misdiagnosed cases have been reported. The diagnosis is substantially based on histopathological pattern. We describe the cases of two patients evaluated and treated in pulmonary department 1 of Abderrahmane Mami hospital of Tunisia with a diagnosis of pulmonary actinomycosis. There are two men. The first patient had hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the second one underwent surgery for bronchiectasis. Clinical presentation was consistent with productive cough, hemoptysis, and deterioration of general status. The medical examination was non-specific. The chest X-ray revealed an apical opacity, excavated in the first case and retractable in the second one. Biology showed an inflammatory syndrome. Bronchoscopy was performed in the two cases and showed lesions mimicking lung malignancy. Diagnosis is confirmed by histopathological examinations of surgical specimens in the two cases. Both patients were received antibiotic therapy. The results were excellent with a favorable clinical course and no deaths. This study highlights the misleading patterns of actinomycosis to prompt accurate diagnosis and earlier treatment, thus improving the outcome. Given either its low culture yield or the limited use of new molecular diagnostic tools in routine clinical practice, histological examination of lung tissue specimens is crucial to get the correct diagnosis.

AIM: The aim of the present study was to investigate the histological differences between samples processed by different devices and to confirm safe clinical application of different dentin matrix obtained from three devices: BonMaker, Tooth Transformer, and Smart Dentin Grinder in regeneration of maxillary defects. RESEARCH DESIGN: The study involved 39 patients with two-wall or three-wall defects who underwent bone augmentation procedures in the maxilla using dentin matrix grafts from the BonMaker, Tooth Transformer, and Smart Dentin Grinder devices. Histological examination was conducted on samples obtained from patients who received each device. In this article, histological samples have been selected and are presented. RESULTS: In all patients, bone defects were successfully augmented with ground dentin matrix. The histological examination revealed no inflammation and a good connection between the bone and dentin matrix and clinically all patients were qualified for implant placement. CONCLUSIONS: After comparing the BonMaker, Tooth Transformer, and Smart Dentin Grinder devices in our practice, we concluded that all these systems have the potential for obtaining regenerative material from the patient's teeth.

BACKGROUND: The clinical diagnosis as well as the treatment approach of periocular tumors in childhood and adolescence can be challenging. Knowledge of the most important differential diagnoses and their clinicopathological correlation is helpful for the treatment approach. OBJECTIVE: The clinical and histological characteristics of various eyelid tumors in childhood and adolescence are presented taking the excision frequencies into consideration. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The frequencies and clinicopathologic correlation of the most important eyelid tumors (n = 485) are presented based on the data of the ophthalmopathology laboratory of the University Eye Hospital Bonn from 1998-2023. RESULTS: The most frequent tumor in childhood and adolescence is chalazion (57.3%), followed by dermoid cysts (16.7%) and molluscum contagiosum (9.6%). Other lesions of childhood and adolescence include pilomatrixoma (2.1%), hemangioma and other vascular malformations (4.7%) and rare differential diagnoses, such as subcutaneous calcifying nodules and xanthogranuloma. Guidance on the approach in different age groups is presented in the form of a decision tree. CONCLUSION: Tumors in children and adolescents are mostly benign, yet there are important indications for excision. A histological examination of any excised tissue in childhood and adolescence is obligatory because unexpected findings are not uncommon and the spectrum of lesions also differs from that in adulthood. Knowledge of the histological picture can be very helpful in the preoperative clinical classification and for planning further procedures.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Bladder metastasis from lung cancer with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation is extremely rare. Here, we report a case of bladder metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation. CASE SUMMARY: A 53-year-old female patient was diagnosed with advanced lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR exon 19 deletion. Multiple nodules on the bladder wall were found by regular examination of the pelvic cavity through computed tomography during targeted therapy. Further cystoscopy and histological examination of bladder biopsy tissues confirmed the bladder metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma. In addition, genetic analysis of the bladder metastasis revealed EGFR T790M mutation. The patient achieved a good response to a third-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor. CONCLUSION: During routine follow-up of lung cancer patients, imaging examination of the pelvic cavity should be performed to avoid missing bladder metastasis. The ultimate diagnosis of bladder metastasis sill depends on the pathological result of biopsy tissues.

AIM: This study was performed to histologically evaluate peri-coronal tissues of partially impacted and erupted third molars that did not exhibit pathologic peri-coronal radiolucency. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Healthy patients with erupted or partially erupted (with part or all of the dental crown present in the oral cavity) mandibular third molars (classified as IA and IIA according to the Pell and Gregory classification) and vertically positioned (according to the Winter classification or erupted third molars) associated with peri coronal radiolucency of equal to or less than 2.5 mm. Associated with third molar surgery, tissue sampling from the distal area was performed, which was subjected to an anatomopathological examination to determine the histological nature. RESULTS: One hundred teeth (100 patients) were selected, and 100 specimens were analyzed. 53% of the sample were included in the non-pathological group and 47% showed pathological changes (fibrotic tissue (n 15), periodontal cyst-like (n 9), squamous epithelial metaplasia (4 cases), islands of odontogenic epithelial residues organized micro-cyst with keratocystic/ameloblastic appearance (4 cases), granulation tissue (n 8), giant cell tumour (n 4) and lobular capillary hemangioma (n 4)). Pathological changes did not have differences in incidence between the gender (p value = 0.85) and did not show any correlation with age, (p value = 0,96). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that radiographic appearance may not be a reliable indicator of the absence of disease within a dental follicle. Therefore, clinicians should pay attention to or follow up on even peri-coronal radiolucency of less than 2.5 mm.

ABSTRACT

Wilson's disease causes copper accumulation in the liver and extrahepatic organs. The available therapies aim to lower copper levels by various means. However, a potent drug that can repair the damaged liver and brain tissue is needed. Silymarin has hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and cytoprotective properties. However, poor oral bioavailability reduces its efficacy. In this study, a "thin film hydration method" was used for synthesizing silymarin-encapsulated liposome nanoparticles (SLNPs) and evaluated them against copper toxicity, associated liver dysfunction and neurobehavioral abnormalities in Wistar rats. After copper toxicity induction, serological and behavioral assays were conducted to evaluate treatment approaches. Histological examination of the diseased rats revealed severe hepatocyte necrosis and neuronal vacuolation. These cellular degenerations were mild in rats treated with SLNPs and a combination of zinc and SLNPs (ZSLNPs). SLNPs also decreased liver enzymes and enhanced rats' spatial memory significantly (p = 0.006) in the diseased rats. During forced swim tests, SLNPs treated rats exhibited a 60-s reduction in the immobility period, indicating reduced depression. ZSLNPs were significantly more effective than traditional zinc therapy in decreasing the immobility period (p = 0.0008) and reducing liver enzymes, but not in improving spatial memory. Overall, SLNPs enhanced oral silymarin administration and managed copper toxicity symptoms.

ABSTRACT

This study describes the surgical treatment of multiple humeral fractures in a Caretta caretta sea turtle referred by the 'Centro Faunistico del Parco Regionale Bosco e Paludi di Rauccio', in the area surrounding the city of Lecce, in southern Italy. Radiographs showed an evident detachment of the distal humeral epiphysis, compatible with a type II Salter-Harris fracture, as well as a transverse fracture of the diaphysis. After the surgical fracture reduction, radiographic follow-up was performed at 2, 4, 12, 16, and 24 months, showing a progressive healing and the formation of poorly mineralized callus tissue. Unfortunately, three months after his release at sea, the turtle was caught dead at a depth of 40 m. Histological and histomorphometric examinations of the surgically treated humerus were carried out on the corpse to collect further information about the bone tissue repair mechanisms in these animals.

BACKGROUND: The early diagnosis of endometriosis in adolescents is not developed. OBJECTIVE: We aim to conduct clinical, imaging, laparoscopic and histological analyses of peritoneal endometriosis (PE) in adolescents in order to improve early diagnosis. METHODS: In total, 134 girls (from menarche to 17 years old) were included in a case-control study: 90 with laparoscopically (LS) confirmed PE, 44 healthy controls underwent full examination and LS was analyzed in the PE group. RESULTS: Patients with PE were characterized with heredity for endometriosis, persistent dysmenorrhea, decreased daily activity, gastrointestinal symptoms, higher LH, estradiol, prolactin and Ca-125 (<0.05 for each). Ultrasound detected PE in 3.3% and MRI in 78.9%. The most essential MRI signs are as follows: hypointense foci, the heterogeneity of the pelvic tissue (paraovarian, parametrial and rectouterine pouch) and sacro-uterine ligaments lesions (<0.05 for each). Adolescents with PE mostly exhibit initial rASRM stages. Red implants correlated with the rASRM score, and sheer implants correlated with pain (VAS score) (<0.05). In 32.2%, foci consisted of fibrous, adipose and muscle tissue; black lesions were more likely to be histologically verified (0.001). CONCLUSION: Adolescents exhibit mostly initial PE stages, which are associated with greater pain. Persistent dysmenorrhea and detected MRI parameters predict the laparoscopic confirmation of initial PE in adolescents in 84.3% (OR 15.4; <0.01), justifying the early surgical diagnostics and shortening the time delay and suffering of the young patients.

Elevated environmental pollution of lead and fipronil is blamed for chronic toxicity. Fipronil and lead acetate are commonly used, but now no adequate data is available concerning the harmful side effects of their mixture. The present work investigated the curative effects of camel milk against lead and fipronil subchronic toxicity individually and as mixture with different doses (1/30 and 1/60 LD50) on male albino rats by oral ingestion. Rats were divided into eight groups; the first group (G1) was the normal health control. G2, G4, G6, and G8 are the normal health groups camel milk. G3 and G4 are ingested by 1/30 LD50 of the fipronil formulation. G5 and G6 are ingested by 1/30 LD50 of lead acetate. G7 and G8 are ingested by 1/60 LD50 of lead acetate and 1/60 LD50 of fipronil formulation. The lead acetate or fipronil and their mixture significantly induced destructive damage to the kidneys and liver function parameters as well as lipid profile and oxidative stress in both organs. Serum LDH activity increased under the same conditions. Most harmful effects were clearly observed in G7 followed by G3 and G5. Histological examination revealed hepatic degeneration and nephropathy in intoxicated rats relative to normal health control, as shown by hypertrophy of hepatocytes in addition to karyomegaly, binucleation, and mild individual cell coagulative and mild hypertrophy, as well as a vacuolar degeneration of tubular epithelium in the kidneys. Both toxicants in their mixture showed more harmful than those of their individual ones. Camel milk treatments into intoxicated animals (lead, fipronil, and mixture groups) attenuated all evaluated parameters, alleviated the harmful influences of the mixture of lead acetate and fipronil, and improved the biomarkers of their oxidative stress.

ABSTRACT

Extraganglionic Burkitt's lymphoma is rare. Primary thyroid localization accounts for 1% to 5% of malignant tumors of the thyroid gland. The association of Burkitt's lymphoma and pregnancy is even rarer. Our patient was pregnant at 36 weeks. She was brought to the emergency department with anterior cervical swelling, rapidly increasing in volume and becoming compressive for 15 days, in addition to dysphonia and inspiratory dyspnea. Cervical ultrasound and computed tomography scan revealed a compressive and plunging goiter. Surgery attempted after fetal extraction proved impossible due to massive tumor infiltration into adjacent structures shielding the cervical region. Accordingly, the act was limited to a glandular biopsy. The newborn was healthy. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of Burkitt's lymphoma. Given the poor general condition of the patient, chemotherapy was not administered and the patient died after 15 days of stay in intensive care unit.

OBJECTIVE: The aim: To study history, clinical manifestations and histological structure of adhesions in patients with tuboperitoneal infertility. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: 66 women with tuboperitoneal infertility and 30 healthy women were studied. The criterion for inclusion in the study was the presence of adhesions of the 2nd and 3rd degrees by J. Hulka et al. classification. During laparoscopy adhesions were sampled. Serial histological sections after preparation were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, picrofuxin according to van Gizon and fuxelin according to Hart. RESULTS: Results: The study showed that patients with tuboperitoneal infertility, unlike the control group, had surgery on the abdominal cavity and pelvic organs much more often, as well as inflammatory diseases of the reproductive organs. The majority of women in the control group had childbirth in history, whereas among the patients with infertility ectopic pregnancies and abortions prevailed. All examined women had adhesions that were confirmed during laparoscopy. The study showed that ultrasound is not an informative method to confirm this pathology. A histological study of adhesions revealed the presence of differences in their structure depending on the etiological factor (surgery or inflammation). CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Necessary to take into account the presence or absence of a chronic inflammatory process while developing approaches for the secondary prevention of the formation of adhesions in women with tuboperitoneal infertility at the stage of postoperative rehabilitation and infertility treatment.

ABSTRACT

This case report describes the clinical case of a 17-year-old woman with an undifferentiated soft tissue sarcoma in the left supratrocanteric area. The young woman came for observation at our plastic surgery hospital with a large vascular mass visible on her left side which also made walking difficult. Our patient reports the onset of the mass about two months earlier and its growth very quickly. In this case report, we will analyze the demolitive and reconstructive surgical procedures in order to guarantee our patient radical surgery and the possibility of continuing radiotherapy and any specific chemotherapy to avoid the risk of relapse and metastasis over time.

ABSTRACT

Steroid cell tumor (SCT) is a rare sex cord-stromal tumor accounting for only 0.1% of ovarian tumors. Steroid cell tumor, not otherwise specified (SCT, NOS) is of uncertain lineage and is the most common among the three subtypes of SCT. Patients often present with endocrine abnormalities. Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder resulting from inactivating gene deletions, frameshifts, and missense mutations of the VHL gene. VHL syndrome can involve multiple organs and clinically is subclassified into type 1 and type 2 based on the risk of pheochromocytoma (PCC). The association of VHL syndrome with genital tract tumors is rare, and here we report two cases of SCT, NOS in patients with VHL disease. The first case is a 19-year old female with VHL and prior resection of bilateral cerebellar hemangioblastomas. During the radiological surveillance, she was found to have multiple small enhancing foci in the cerebellar hemispheres and a stable small enhancing focus in the T6 cord with associated edema, likely reflecting a small hemangioblastoma. She had long history of irregular menses and ultrasound of pelvis found a large right ovarian mass. Cystectomy specimen showed a 6.4 cm well-circumscribed lesion with yellow cut surface. Histologic examination and immunohistochemical staining confirmed the diagnosis of SCT, NOS. The second patient is a 39-year-old female with VHL, previous surgery for retinal hemangioblastomatosis and cerebellar hemangioblastoma, history of abnormal uterine bleeding and elevated testosterone. CT of abdomen and pelvis revealed bilateral multiple cystic and solid renal lesions and a large left ovarian complex cyst. Bilateral partial nephrectomy showed multiple renal cysts and clear cell renal cell carcinomas (RCCs). Left salpingo-oophorectomy showed a 7 cm lesion with yellow-orange cut surface and features consistent with SCT, NOS. ABSTRACT

Zingiber ottensii (ZO) Valeton, a local plant in Northern Thailand, has been widely used in traditional medicine. Many studies using in vitro models reveal its pharmacological activities, including the anti-inflammatory activity of ZO essential oil, extracted from ZO rhizomes. However, the scientific report to confirm its anti-inflammatory activity using animal models is still lacking. The present study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity and explore the possible mechanisms of action of ZO essential oil in rats. The results revealed that ZO essential oil significantly reduced the ear edema formation induced by ethyl phenylpropiolate. Pre-treatment with ZO essential oil significantly reduced the carrageenan-induced hind paw edema and the severity of inflammation in paw tissue. In addition, pre-treatment with ZO essential oil exhibited decreased COX-2 and pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-α expression in paw tissue, as well as PGE2 levels in serum. On this basis, our study suggests that ZO essential oil possesses anti-inflammatory activity in animal models. Its possible mechanisms of action may involve the inhibition of TNF-α expression as well as the inhibition of COX-2 and PGE2 production. These findings provide more crucial data of ZO essential oil that may lead to new natural anti-inflammatory product development in the future.

ABSTRACT

Riptortus pedestris (Fabricius) is a major agricultural pest feeding on soybean pods and seeds. The large populations occur during seed maturity stages from pod filling to harvest. Its infestation results in shriveled and dimpled seeds while vegetative structures (leaflet and stem) remain green, known as "Stay Green" syndrome. Additional evidence also demonstrates that soybean pods and seeds are required for Riptortus pedestris development. However, the feeding behavior strategies employed by this stink bug to feed on soybean plants are still not clear. In the present study, the feeding behaviors of R. pedestris on soybean plants were recorded by electropenetrography (EPG), and a waveform library was created for this species. A total of five phases of waveforms-nonprobing, pathway (Rp1), xylem sap ingestion (Rp2), salivation and ingestion (Rp3), and interruption (Rp4)-were identified. Non-probing waveforms Z and NP and pathway (Rp1) were found in all tested plant structures (leaflet, stem, cotyledon, and pods). Waveform Rp2 (xylem sap ingestion, xylem ingestion) was primarily recorded during R. pedestris feeding on leaflets and stems, while Rp3 (salivation/ingestion) was only observed during feeding on cotyledon and pods. Histological examinations confirmed that correlation between Rp2 and stylet tip positioning in the xylem vessel in leaflets and stems. Stylet tips end in the tissues of cotyledon and pods when Rp3 is recorded. Taken together, our results demonstrate that R. pedestris ingests xylem sap from vegetative tissues of soybean (leaflet and stem) via a salivary sheath strategy to obtain water. It mainly acquires nutrients from soybean pods and/or seeds using cell-rupture tactics. This study provided insightful information to understand the field occurrence patterns of "Stay Green" syndrome, which may have important implications for pest control.

SUMMARY: The goal of ultrasound-guided suprainguinal fascia iliaca block (USG-SFIB) is anesthetic spread to three nerves, which are lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN), femoral nerve (FN), and obturator nerve (ON). The 90 % minimum effective volume (MEV90) for USG-SFIB is each result of studied showed the successful block and effect in various volume for block. So, Thus, the study purposes to demonstrate the efficiency of the effective volume (MEV90,62.5 ml) for USG-SFIB and confirm the staining of dye in connective tissue of nerve (nerve layer) that focused on the obturator nerve by histological examination in cadavers. The histological result showed the dye staining on the nerve layer of the ON in epineurium (100 %) and un-staining perineurium & endoneurium. Therefore, the minimal effective volume (MEV) is effective for USG-SFIB. Moreover, dye stain at the epineurium of stained obturator nerve only.


RESUMEN: El objetivo del bloqueo de la fascia ilíaca suprainguinal guiado por ecografía (USG-SFIB) es la propagación anestésica a tres nervios, cutáneo femoral lateral, femoral y obturador. El volumen efectivo mínimo del 90 % (MEV90) para USG-SFIB en cada uno de los resultados mostró el bloqueo exitoso y el efecto en varios volúmenes por bloqueo. Por lo tanto, el estudio tuvo como objetivo demostrar la eficiencia del volumen efectivo (MEV90,62.5 ml) para USG-SFIB y confirmar la tinción de tinte en el tejido conectivo del nervio, el cual se centró en el nervio obturador a través del examen histológico en cadáveres. El resultado histológico mostró tinción de colorante en el epineuro (100 %) del nervio obturador, sin embargo no hubo tinción del perineuro y endoneuro. Por lo tanto, el volumen efectivo mínimo (MEV) es efectivo para USG-SFIB.
