ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of including levels of calcareous seaweed flour in replacement for calcite limestone on the diet under egg conservation at different storage periods. 140 Japanese quails were used in a completely randomized experiment consisting of a 4x4 factorial design. The factorial design was four inclusions of calcareous seaweed (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%) and four storage periods (zero, seven, 14, and 21 days) with ten replications of three eggs each. The egg quality variables were evaluated. Data were subjected to analysis of variance using Tukey test and polynomial regression at a 5% significance level. There was no interaction effect between the factor's storage time and inclusion of calcareous seaweed (p>0.05). There was an increasing linear effect on shell weight and thickness in relation to inclusion levels of calcareous seaweed. There was an individual effect of egg storage time (p>0.05) on egg weight, yolk color, albumen and yolk height, yolk weight and percentage, albumen, yolk index, yolk diameter, specific gravity, and Haugh unit. The inclusion of up to 30% of calcareous seaweed in replacement for calcite limestone in the diet of Japanese quails improves the weight and thickness of eggshells but does not influence the conservation of the eggs up to 21 days of storage.


RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência da inclusão de níveis de farinha de alga calcária em substituição ao calcário calcítico na dieta sob a conservação de ovos em diferentes períodos de armazenamento. Foram utilizadas 140 codornas japonesas em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado composto por um fatorial 4x4. Sendo 4 inclusões de alga calcária (0%, 10%, 20% e 30%) e 4 períodos de armazenamento (0, 7, 14 e 21dias) com dez repetições de três ovos em cada. Foram avaliadas as variáveis de qualidade de ovos das aves. Os dados foram submetidos a análise de variância utilizando o teste de Tukey e regressão polinomial ao nível de 5% de significância. Não houve efeito da interação entre os fatores tempo de armazenamento e inclusão de alga calcárea (p>0,05). Houve efeito linear crescente no peso e espessura da casca em relação aos níveis de inclusão de alga calcárea. Houve efeito individual do tempo de armazenamento dos ovos (p>0,05) sobre parâmetros peso de ovo, coloração da gema, altura de albúmen e gema, peso e porcentagem da gema, albúmen, índice de gema, diâmetro de gema, gravidade especifica e unidade Haugh. ABSTRACT

This study identified the effects of dietary supplementation with ractopamine, chromium picolinate, chromium yeast, or an energetic feed restriction on the growth performance and lipid profile of subcutaneous fat, in late finishing gilts. Twenty genetically similar gilts with initial body weight of 105.35 ± 4.77 kg and a final body weight of 131.37 ± 5.58 kg were distributed in a completely randomized block design with five treatments (control; ractopamine: 20 ppm; chromium picolinate: 0.48 ppm; chromium yeast: 0.80 ppm; and energetic feed restriction: -150 kcal kg-¹ of metabolizable energy), with four replicates of one animal each. The experimental diets were isonutritives, except for the metabolizable energy level of the diet fed to the group subjected to energy restriction. There were no effects on the growth performance and carcass characteristics. Ractopamine and organic chromium (picolinate and yeast) supplementation increased the concentration of total polyunsaturated fatty acid. The proportion of α-linolenic fatty acids were higher when the diets were supplemented with ractopamine or chromium yeast. The energy restriction increased the n-6:n-3 ratio and reduced α-linolenic acid concentration. Therefore, ractopamine, chromium picolinate, chromium yeast supplementation, and energetic feed restriction did not affect the growth performance or carcass characteristics but altered the lipid profile of subcutaneous fat in finishing gilts. Ractopamine and organic chromium supplementation increased PUFA in the fat of finishing female pigs.


Este estudo foi conduzido com o objetivo de identificar os efeitos da suplementação com ractopamina, cromo picolinato, cromo levedura, ou da restrição alimentar energética, sobre o desempenho e o perfil de ácidos graxos da gordura subcutânea de fêmeas suínas em fase final de terminação. Foram utilizadas 20 fêmeas suínas, geneticamente similares, com peso inicial de 105,35 ± 4,77 kg e peso final de 131,37 ± 5,58 kg, distribuídas em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso em cinco tratamentos (controle; ractopamina: 20 ppm; picolinato de cromo: 0,48 ppm; cromo levedura: 0,80 ppm; e restrição energética: -150 kcal kg-¹ de energia metabolizável) com quatro repetições de um animal cada. As dietas experimentais foram isonutritivas, exceto para o nível de energia metabolizável da dieta fornecida ao grupo submetido à restrição energética. Não houve efeito dos tratamentos sobre o desempenho e as características de carcaça. As suplementações com ractopamina e cromo orgânico (picolinato ou levedura) aumentaram a concentração de ácidos graxos poli-insaturados. A proporção do ácido α-linolênico foi maior com a inclusão da ractopamina ou do cromo levedura na dieta. A restrição energética aumentou a proporção n-6:n-3 e reduziu a concentração do ácido α-linolênico. As suplementações com ractopamina, picolinato de cromo, cromo levedura, ou restrição alimentar energética, não influenciaram o desempenho e as características de carcaça, mas alteraram o perfil lipídico da gordura subcutânea de fêmeas suínas. As suplementações com ractopamina e cromo orgânico aumentaram a proporção de AGPI.

ABSTRACT

This study examined the replacement of the inorganic minerals (IM) Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn with their organic form (OM) in the diet of 67-week-old Dekalb White laying hens by comparing digestibility, production and egg quality. The experiment involved 240 birds, with 48 birds used per treatment and 12 per replicate. Isoenergetic and isonutrient diets were supplemented with 8mg Cu, 50mg Fe, 70mg Mn and 50mg Zn per kilogram of diet from an inorganic premix (IM100), from an organic premix (OM100), or the latter at the decreasing inclusion levels of 65% (OM65), 45% (OM45) and 35% (OM35). The following variables were evaluated: production, eggs per housed bird (EHB), viability, egg weight and mass, cracked and lost eggs, digestibility and egg physicochemical traits. Birds fed OM35 and OM45 showed lower production rates, and organic minerals provided the highest egg weights, regardless of their inclusion level. Accordingly, egg mass was similar between IM100, OM45 and OM35, and highest values were obtained with OM100 and OM65. Source or level had no influence on digestibility or egg quality. Supplementation with 2.8mg Cu, 17.5mg Fe, 24.5m g Mn and 17.5mg Zn per kilogram of diet (OM35) in the last third of the laying cycle provided relevant economic production indices (EHB, viability, egg weight or mass).(AU)


Estudou-se a substituição dos minerais inorgânicos (MI) Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn por minerais orgânicos (MO) na dieta de poedeiras Dekalb White com 67 semanas, comparando-se índices de produção, digestibilidade e qualidade dos ovos. Utilizaram-se 240 aves, 48 aves por tratamento e 12 por repetição. Dietas isoenergéticas e isonutrientes foram suplementadas com 8mg Cu, 50mg Fe, 70mg Mn e 50mg Zn por kg de ração MI100 e MO100 ou suplementações decrescentes MO65, MO45 e MO35. Avaliou-se produção, ovo por ave alojada (OAA), viabilidade, peso e massa dos ovos, trincados e perdidos, digestibilidade dos nutrientes e características físico-químicas dos ovos. Observaram-se menores índices de produção nas aves dos tratamentos MO35 e MO45 e maiores pesos dos ovos nos tratamentos com minerais orgânicos, independentemente da inclusão. Assim, massas de ovos foram semelhantes para os tratamentos MI100, MO45 e MO35 e maiores para MO100 e MO65. Fontes ou níveis de inclusões não influenciaram a digestibilidade e a qualidade dos ovos. Índices zootécnicos economicamente relevantes (OAA, viabilidade, peso e massa do ovo) foram obtidos com suplementação de 2,8mg Cu, 17,5mg Fe, 24,5mg Mn e 17,5mg Zn por kg de ração (MO35) em poedeiras brancas no último terço do ciclo de postura.(AU)

ABSTRACT

As diferenças na velocidade de crescimento e na composição de carcaça dos frangos podem exigir níveis mais altos de vitaminas e de minerais com maior biodisponibilidade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi suplementar dietas comerciais para frangos de corte com níveis otimizados de vitaminas e com diferentes fontes minerais para avaliar o efeito sobre o desempenho produtivo, rendimento de carcaça e qualidade óssea. Foram utilizados 1800 pintos de corte machos da linhagem Cobb Slow, divididos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 2 x 2 (programas vitamínicos - otimizado e comercial Vs fontes de minerais - inorgânicos (sulfatos) e carbo-amino-phospo-chelate, CAPC). No premix vitamínico otimizado foi incluído o metabólito da vitamina D3, 25(OH)D3. As aves e as sobras de ração foram pesadas semanalmente. A análise estatística dos dados foi realizada pelo procedimento GLM do software SAS. A suplementação de dietas com associação de programas vitamínicos otimizados e fonte mineral CAPC resultou em melhor conversão alimentar aos 42 dias de idade (P<0,05). A suplementação com minerais CAPC resultou em menor índice de vermelho (*a) (P<0,05) na musculatura adjacente aos ossos das coxas e sobrecoxas dos frangos de corte quando descongeladas e assadas, indicando menor porosidade óssea. Fontes mais biodisponíveis de minerais permitem reduzir a sua inclusão nas dietas e diminuem o impacto negativo da excreção de minerais e o efeito poluidor sobre o meio ambiente.

ABSTRACT

Sows from three university research facilities (n = 245) were stratified by parity and initial body weight (BW), and within outcome groups, randomly assigned to fortified corn- and soybean meal-based control or organic trace mineral-supplemented, gestation (3,339 kcal/kg ME; 0.62% standradized ileal digestible [SID] lysine), and lactation (3,374 kcal/kg ME; 0.97% SID lysine) diets. Control gestation and lactation diets were supplemented with inorganic trace minerals (120 ppm Zn from ZnO, 30 ppm Cu from CuSO4, and 50 ppm Mn from MnSO4), and the experimental diets contained the same total level of minerals but complexed organic trace minerals replaced 50% of the inorganic trace minerals. Sows were fed to condition during gestation and on an ad libitum basis during lactation. Sow BW (breeding, d 110 of gestation, 48 h post-farrowing, and weaning) and feed consumed were recorded. During gestation, control sows tended to gain less weight (60.4 vs. 64.6 kg, P = 0.06) and consumed less feed (263.5 vs. 264.8 kg, P = 0.05), and had poorer Gain:Feed (G:F) (0.27 vs. 0.29, P = 0.04) than sows fed the organic trace minerals. Sow average daily feed intake (ADFI) during lactation was similar (P = 0.28) between groups (4.93 vs. 4.74 kg for control and treated sows, respectively). Number of pigs born alive (11.4 vs. 10.9, P = 0.24) and weaned (10.2 vs. 9.8, P = 0.18), and pig pre-weaning average daily gain (ADG) (0.27 vs. 0.27 kg/d, P = 0.77) and mortality (13.1 vs. 12.9%, P = 0.92) were similar for control and treated sows, respectively. Results of the current study demonstrate that sows fed diets supplemented with organic trace minerals displayed similar reproductive performance, but improved weight gain and G:F during gestation compared with sows fed inorganic trace minerals.

ABSTRACT

The present study aims to evaluate the possible interactions of dietary levels of methionine plus cystine (Met + Cys) and organic copper (Cu) on the chemical composition of eggs, using 320 Hy-Line Brown hens at 49 weeks of age. Composition and deposition variables were evaluated in a 4 × 5 factorial arrangement, with total analysed levels of 18, 44, 71, and 99 mg kg-1 of Cu and 0.613, 0.631, 0.816, 0.918, and 0.955% Met + Cys. We allocated four replicate cages (four hens/cage) to each treatment group. Two eggs per plot were sampled to determine the chemical composition of albumen and yolk, based on natural and dry matter and on daily rates of deposition. An interaction effect of Met + Cys and Cu levels was observed for deposition rates of ash and Cu in the yolk, and the chemical composition of Ethereal Extract (EE) and ash in eggs, EE in albumen and Nitrogen, EE, and ash in the yolk. An isolated effect was observed for Met + Cys on egg chemical composition and on shell and yolk fractions, as well as on deposition rates of albumen N, EE, and ash, and yolk EE. The yolk cholesterol content increased by 18.17% with increasing Met + Cys in diets. In conclusion, the chemical composition of eggs varied with dietary Met + Cys and organic Cu concentrations. Dietary levels of Met + Cys determined the yolk cholesterol concentration in laying hens.


O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as possíveis interações dos níveis alimentares de metionina mais cistina (Met + Cys) e cobre orgânico (Cu) na composição química dos ovos, utilizando 320 galinhas Hy-Line Brown com 49 semanas de idade. As variáveis de composição e deposição foram avaliadas em arranjo fatorial 4 × 5, com níveis totais analisados de 18, 44, 71 e 99 mg kg-1 de Cu e 0,613, 0,631, 0,816, 0,918 e 0,955% de Met + Cys. Alocaram-se quatro gaiolas replicadas (quatro galinhas / gaiola) para cada grupo de tratamento. Foram amostrados dois ovos por parcela para determinar a composição química do albúmen e da gema, com base na matéria natural e seca e nas taxas diárias de deposição. Foi observado um efeito de interação dos níveis de Met + Cys e Cu para as taxas de deposição de cinzas e Cu na gema e composição química do Extrato Etéreo (EE) e cinzas nos ovos, EE no albume e nitrogênio, EE e cinzas na gema. gema. ABSTRACT

The present study aims to evaluate the possible interactions of dietary levels of methionine plus cystine (Met + Cys) and organic copper (Cu) on the chemical composition of eggs, using 320 Hy-Line Brown hens at 49 weeks of age. Composition and deposition variables were evaluated in a 4 × 5 factorial arrangement, with total analysed levels of 18, 44, 71, and 99 mg kg-1 of Cu and 0.613, 0.631, 0.816, 0.918, and 0.955% Met + Cys. We allocated four replicate cages (four hens/cage) to each treatment group. Two eggs per plot were sampled to determine the chemical composition of albumen and yolk, based on natural and dry matter and on daily rates of deposition. An interaction effect of Met + Cys and Cu levels was observed for deposition rates of ash and Cu in the yolk, and the chemical composition of Ethereal Extract (EE) and ash in eggs, EE in albumen and Nitrogen, EE, and ash in the yolk. An isolated effect was observed for Met + Cys on egg chemical composition and on shell and yolk fractions, as well as on deposition rates of albumen N, EE, and ash, and yolk EE. The yolk cholesterol content increased by 18.17% with increasing Met + Cys in diets. In conclusion, the chemical composition of eggs varied with dietary Met + Cys and organic Cu concentrations. Dietary levels of Met + Cys determined the yolk cholesterol concentration in laying hens.(AU)


O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as possíveis interações dos níveis alimentares de metionina mais cistina (Met + Cys) e cobre orgânico (Cu) na composição química dos ovos, utilizando 320 galinhas Hy-Line Brown com 49 semanas de idade. As variáveis de composição e deposição foram avaliadas em arranjo fatorial 4 × 5, com níveis totais analisados de 18, 44, 71 e 99 mg kg-1 de Cu e 0,613, 0,631, 0,816, 0,918 e 0,955% de Met + Cys. Alocaram-se quatro gaiolas replicadas (quatro galinhas / gaiola) para cada grupo de tratamento. Foram amostrados dois ovos por parcela para determinar a composição química do albúmen e da gema, com base na matéria natural e seca e nas taxas diárias de deposição. Foram avaliados o desempenho, a característica da carcaça e dos cortes, bem como a qualidade de carne dos frangos. O aumento dos níveis de zinco elevou o consumo de ração dos frangos. Os frangos que receberam zinco orgânico na exigência mínima apresentaram melhor conversão alimentar comparados àqueles que receberam ração de fonte inorgânica. O aumento nos níveis de zinco orgânico proporcionou redução no teor de gordura abdominal para fêmeas, mas níveis de zinco orgânico prejudicaram a estabilidade oxidativa da carne. Conclui-se que frangos machos apresentam melhor desempenho, carcaça e qualidade de carne em relação às fêmeas, e que o zinco orgânico melhora a conversão alimentar dos frangos, reduz a gordura abdominal, porém eleva a oxidação lipídica da carne.(AU)

The animals were distributed in a randomized complete block design, consisting of three levels of chromium-yeast and selenium-yeast (i.e., without supplementation of chromium-yeast and selenium-yeast, supplementation of 0.4 mg kg-1 chromium-yeast and 0.3 mg kg-1 selenium-yeast, and supplementation of 0.8 mg kg-1 chromium-yeast and 0.6 mg kg-1 selenium-yeast) with eight replicates and two animals per experimental unit. The supplementation of chromium and selenium-yeast did not significantly affect (P>0.05) the average daily feed intake, digestible lysine, crude protein and metabolizable energy intake, average daily weight gain, feed conversion, weight and carcass length, back fat thickness, muscle depth, percentage and amount of lean meat, and carcass allowance. These findings suggest that supplementation of chromium and selenium-yeast does not affect the performance or quantitative characteristics in the carcass of finishing barrows.


RESUMO: Realizou-se este estudo com o objetivo de avaliar a associação de cromo-levedura e selênio-levedura como aditivos nutricionais melhoradores de desempenho e das características quantitativas de carcaça de suínos machos castrados em terminação. Foram utilizados 48 suínos machos castrados, híbridos comerciais, com peso inicial de 68,3±3,5 kg e peso final de 99,6±3,6 kg. Os animais foram distribuídos em delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados, composto por três níveis de cromo-levedura e selênio-levedura (controle sem suplementação de cromo-levedura e selênio-levedura; suplementação de 0,4 mg kg-1 de cromo-levedura e 0,3 mg kg-1 de selênio-levedura; e 0,8 mg kg-1 de cromo-levedura e 0,6 mg kg-1 de selênio-levedura), com oito repetições e dois animais por unidade experimental. Treatments consisted of different diets, formulated to reach or exceed Rostagno et al. (2011) nutritional requirements, as follows: 1) control - basal diet without organic Cr and Se supplementation from 70 to 130 kg of body weight; 2) CrSe70 - basal diet supplemented with 0.8 mg kg-1 of Cr- and 0.6 mg kg-1 of Se-enriched yeast from 70 to 130 kg of body weight; 3) CrSe100 - basal diet without organic Cr and Se supplementation from 70 to 100 kg of body weight followed by basal diet supplemented with 0.8 mg kg-1 of Cr- and 0.6 mg kg-1 of Se-enriched yeast from 100 to 130 kg of body weight. Performance was evaluated by measuring body weight, daily weight gain, daily feed intake and feed conversion ratio. At the end of experimental period, pigs were sacrificed and lean meat percentage, longissimus dorsi muscle depth, back fat thickness, and carcass bonus index were determined using prediction equations generated by the software Hennessy System GP4 after carcass scanning with an electronic probe. Data were submitted to one-way ANOVA and in case of significant differences (P ≤ 0.05), means were compared by SNK multiple-range test. Daily feed intake (P = 0.008) and feed conversion ratio (P = 0.004) decreased for pigs supplemented with Cr- and Se-enriched yeast from 70 to 100 kg of body weight. Otherwise, pigs supplemented between 100 and 130 kg of body weight increased (P = 0.032) daily feed intake in comparison to the control group.(AU)

The research was conducted to evaluate the performance, duodenal morphology and histopathological changes in the liver of broilers fed diets containing different levels of selenium (0.5, 1.1, 1.7, 2.3, 2, 9 and 3.5ppm Se / kg diet), created in the period 1-21 days old, under heat stress conditions. The birds were isonutritives diets based on corn and soybean meal, formulated to meet the nutritional requirements, except for selenium. From a basic diet supplementation of selenium was taken, such as use of selenomethionine (Sel - Plex®). Seven hundred and twenty chicks of mixed lineage Ross 308, were used in a randomized complete block design with six treatments and six replicates of twenty birds each. The internal environment of the sheds was evaluated based on the Temperature Index Black Globe Humidity (BGT), the Temperature and Humidity Index (THI) and Effective Temperature (ET). The use of organic selenium supplementation in the diet of broilers improves feed conversion, but does not interfere in the length parameter crypt and villus height and does not promote inflammation in the liver of these, in both levels.

As aves receberam dietas isonutritivas à base de milho e farelo de soja, formuladas para atender as exigências nutricionais, exceto para o selênio. A partir de uma dieta basal foi feita a suplementação do selênio, com o uso de selenometionina (Sel-Plex®). Setecentos e vinte pintos da linhagem Ross 308, mistos, foram utilizados em delineamento de blocos casualizados, com seis tratamentos e seis repetições com vinte aves por unidade experimental. O ambiente interno dos galpões foi avaliado com base no Índice de Temperatura de Globo Negro e Umidade(ITGU),no Índice de Temperatura e Umidade(ITU)e Temperatura Efetiva(TE). O uso da suplementação de selênio orgânico na alimentação de frangos de corte melhora a conversão alimentar, mas, não interfere nos parâmetros comprimento de cripta e altura de vilosidade e não promove reação inflamatória no fígado destes, nos níveis testados.

Setecentos e vinte pintos da linhagem Ross 308, mistos, foram utilizados em delineamento de blocos casualizados, com seis tratamentos e seis repetições com vinte aves por unidade experimental. O ambiente interno dos galpões foi avaliado com base no Índice de Temperatura de Globo Negro e Umidade (ITGU), no Índice de Temperatura e Umidade (ITU) e Temperatura Efetiva (TE). O uso da suplementação de selênio orgânico na alimentação de frangos de corte melhora a conversão alimentar, mas, não interfere nos parâmetros comprimento de cripta e altura de vilosidade e não promove reação inflamatória no fígado destes, nos níveis testados.

ABSTRACT

The research was conducted to evaluate the performance, duodenal morphology and histopathological changes in the liver of broilers fed diets containing different levels of selenium (0.5, 1.1, 1.7, 2.3, 2, 9 and 3.5ppm Se / kg diet), created in the period 1-21 days old, under heat stress conditions. The birds were isonutritives diets based on corn and soybean meal, formulated to meet the nutritional requirements, except for selenium. From a basic diet supplementation of selenium was taken, such as use of selenomethionine (Sel - Plex®). Seven hundred and twenty chicks of mixed lineage Ross 308, were used in a randomized complete block design with six treatments and six replicates of twenty birds each. The internal environment of the sheds was evaluated based on the Temperature Index Black Globe Humidity (BGT), the Temperature and Humidity Index (THI) and Effective Temperature (ET). The use of organic selenium supplementation in the diet of broilers improves feed conversion, but does not interfere in the length parameter crypt and villus height and does not promote inflammation in the liver of these, in both levels.


A pesquisa foi desenvolvida para avaliar o desempenho, a morfometria duodenal e as alterações histopatológicas do fígado de frangos de corte, alimentados com dietas contendo diferentes níveis de selênio (0,5; 1,1; 1,7; 2,3; 2,9 e 3,5ppm de Se/kg de ração), criados no período de 1 a 21 dias de idade, em condições de estresse calórico. As aves receberam dietas isonutritivas à base de milho e farelo de soja, formuladas para atender as exigências nutricionais, exceto para o selênio. A partir de uma dieta basal foi feita a suplementação do selênio, com o uso de selenometionina (Sel-Plex®).
