ABSTRACT

Objective To sum up main syndrome differentiation points of liver depression and spleen asthenia syndrome of chronic hepatitis B(CHB).Methods Logistic regression and discriminant analysis were used for analysis of symptoms,tongue and pulse of liver depression and spleen asthenia syndrome,liver depression syndrome and spleen asthenia syndrome.Results The symptoms selected by logistic regression of liver depression and spleen asthenia syndrome were:abdominal distention or pain,lassitude,poor appetite,loose stool,hypochondriac pain or discomfort and tense pulse;while that selected by discriminant analysis were:abdominal distention or pain,lassitude,loose stool and yellowish fur.Conclusion Main syndrome differentiation points of liver depression and spleen asthenia syndrome of CHB include hypochondriac pain or discomfort,abdominal distention or pain,lassitude,poor appetite and loose stool.Logistic regression and discriminant analysis are feasible for analysis of main diagnosis points of liver depression and spleen asthenia syndrome of CHB.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of Sijunzi Decoction(SD) and Huangqi Sijunzi Decoction(HSD) on mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase,cytochrome oxidase activity of liver in rats with spleen asthenia,thus to reveal the pathogenesis mechanism of spleen asthenia from energy metabolism,and to clarify the therapeutic mechanism of spleen-invigorating and Qi-tonifying herbs.Methods Forty SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:normal control group,spleen-asthenia model group,SD(10.5 g/kg) group and HSD(18 g/kg) group,10 rats in each group.Except that the normal control group,the rats in the other groups were fed with half-full diet once every other day and with gastic gavage of Xiaochengqi Decoction 60 g/kg every day to establish animal model of spleen asthenia.After 15 days,the model rats were administered the corresponding drugs according to the experimental design for 4 continuous weeks.The changes of mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase,cytochrome oxidase activity of liver were measured,and the general status of the rats were observed.Results Compared with the normal control group,the level of mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase activity in liver of spleen asthenia group were decreased obviously(P

ABSTRACT

【Objective】To observe the effect of Buzhong Yiqi Wan(BYW)on thyroid hormones in rat model of spleen-asthenia.【Methods】Thirty-four SD male rats were randomized into 3 groups:normal control group(N=10),spleen-asthenia model group(N=12),BYW group(N=12).Except the normal control group,the rats in other groups were given the decoction of Radix et Rhizoma Rhei(4 g?d-1 for each rat)to induce spleen asthenia,and meanwhile,BYW group reveived BYW(3.9 g?kg-1?d-1).The treatment lasted 20 days.Radioimmunoassay was used to detect serum levels of triiodothyronine(T3),thyroxine(T4),reverse triiodothyronine(rT3)and thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH).Meanwhile,the body weight,spleen and thymus weight as well as their ratio with the body weight were also observed.【Results】Serum T3 and T4 levels,spleen and thymus weight as well as their ratio with the body weight were decreased in the model group as compared with those in the normal control group(P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the method of constructing a pathological model of Piyinxu (spleen-yin deficiency) using Sprague-Dawley rats and to make preliminary observations. METHODS: Folium sennae (0.8 g) and tabellae thyroidei (80 mg) were given daily by stomach feeding to each rat for 12 d to establish the pathological model of Piyinxu. The activity of the rats and the characteristics of their stool were observed. RESULTS: We observed not only the symptoms of Pixu, such as diarrhea, poor appetite, abdominal distention, weight loss, but also Yinxuneire (endogenous heat), such as increase in water drinking, nervousness, and restlessness. These symptoms were all different from that of the control group of Piyangxu (spleen-yang deficiency). CONCLUSION: Combining folium sennae and tabellae thyroidei is an effective method for establishing a pathological model of Piyinxu.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate various characteristics of saliva secreted by patients with TCM-Piyinxu (Spleen-yin deficiency). METHODS: Twenty-five individuals with Piyinxu (15 males and 10 females; age range 26-70 years, mean age = 45 years) diagnosed based on criteria used in traditional Chinese medicine, were compared with 20 individuals with Shenyinxu (Kidney-yin deficiency) (11 males, 9 females; age range 35-75 years, mean age = 50) and 30 normal individuals (17 males, 13 females; age range 35-65 years, mean age = 49 years). After acid stimulation, the saliva flow in each group was measured, and the levels of amylase and protein in saliva were determined using an automatic biochemical analyzer. The resultant data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and one-way factorial ANOVA test. RESULTS: The flow rates of saliva and amylase in Piyinxu patients (0.27 ± 0.016 mL/min and 2134.13 ± 343.51 IU/min, respectively) were lower than those in normal subjects (0.46 ± 0.027 mL/min and 3501.63 ± 1099.63 IU/min, respectively, P < 0.01), but higher than those in the Shenyinxu group (0.13 ± 0.051 mL/min and 951.62 ± 383.17 IU/min, respectively, P < 0.01). The three groups showed no significant difference in their level of total salivary protein (Piyinxu group, 3.07 ± 0.60 g/L; Shenyinxu group, 3.01 ± 0.90 g/L, and control group, 2.94 ± 1.13 g/L, P = 0.869), amount of amylase per saliva volume, or their ratio of amylase to protein in secreted saliva (P = 0.173 and P = 0.436, respectively). CONCLUSION: Piyinxu patients showed altered rates of saliva and amylase secretion when compared with those parameters in patients with Shenyinxu and normal subjects.

ABSTRACT

This paper reports levels of serum lipids and traditional Chinese medicine typing in 472 cases of simple obesity. As compared with 186 healthy persons, serum levels of total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) were higher, while those of high density lipoproteins (HDL) and HDL/TC were lower, in female and male obesity groups. Serum levels of TC and TG were the highest but those of HDL and HDL/TC were the lowest in the spleen-asthenia and wetness-stagnation group according to traditional Chinese medicine typing, suggesting that the spleen and stomach based on traditional Chinese medicine have an important position in lipids metabolism, which opens a new way to research, prevent and treat obesity with combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.
