ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Chemical profile provides the pronounced evidence for herbal medicine (HM) authentication; however, the chemome is extremely sophisticated. Fortunately, two-dimensional (2D) code, as a quick response means, is conceptually able to store abundant information, exactly fulfilling the chemical information storage demands of HMs. METHODS: We here attempted to denote both MS[Formula: see text] and MS[Formula: see text] dataset of HM with a single 2D-code chart. Measurement of Ganoderma lucidum that is one of the most famous HMs with LC-MS/MS was employed to illustrate the "coding-decoding" workflow for the conversion amongst MS/MS dataset, 2D-code, and chemical profile, and to evaluate the applicability as well. After data acquisition, and m/z value of each deprotonated molecular signal was divided into integer and decimal portions, corresponding to x and y coordinates of 2D-plot, respectively. On the other side, m/z values of all its fragment ions were exactly assigned to serial x values sharing an identical y value being equal to the precursor ion. 2D-code was thereafter produced by plotting these defined dots at a 2D-chart. Regarding a given 2D-code map, the entire chart (x coordinate: 0-600; y coordinate: 0-600) was fragmented into two regions by the line of y=x. MS[Formula: see text] spectral signals always located below the line, whereas all fragment ions lay at the left zone. After extracting information from the edges of each square frame, m/z values of both precursor ion and fragment ions could be harvested and putatively deciphered to a compound through applying some empirical mass fragmentation rules. RESULTS: The entire code of Ganoderma lucidum fruit bodies therefore corresponded exactly to a compound set. The elution program, even the employment of direct infusion, couldn't significantly impact the code, and dramatical differences occurred between different species and amongst different parts of Ganoderma lucidum as well. Not only ganoderic acid cluster but also certain primary metabolites served as the diagnostic compounds towards species differentiation. CONCLUSION: 2D-code might be a meaningful, practical visual way for rapid HM recognition because it is convenient to achieve the conversion amongst MS/MS dataset, 2D-barcode plot, and the chemome.

ABSTRACT

Print matter authentication based on anti-counterfeiting techniques has received continuously increasing concern from academia and industry. However, the existing printing anti-counterfeiting solutions often have the defects of poor identification experience, high cost, or weak anti-counterfeiting ability, and cannot achieve pre-sale anti-counterfeiting. Therefore, a novel steganography-based pattern for print matter anti-counterfeiting by smartphone cameras is proposed in this study. Firstly, every pixel in the original binary message image (such as QR code) is replaced by a square pixel block with the same binary gray value of 0 or 255 (the first-level expansion). Secondly, the obtained image is encrypted based on the logistic chaotic sequence, and then scrambled by Arnold transform. Lastly, once again every pixel in the generated image is replaced with a square pixel block (the second-level expansion), the size and gray value of which can be set to control the semi-fragile ability to distinguish an originally printed pattern from its illegitimate copy. If the message extracted from the printed pattern through the inverse procedure is complete enough to decode and read, the pattern is assumed to be an original print. Experimental results verify the advancement and effectiveness of the proposed scheme in distinguishing the copied pattern.

ABSTRACT

The gross specimens and tissue slices used for traditional experimental pathology curriculum are fragile, and some specimens or slices are difficult to be supplemented. Besides, the classroom and schedule for experimental pathology teaching are inflexible. Therefore, the teaching effects for experimental pathology course are limited. The development of digital technology has promoted the teaching reform of medical experimental curriculum. We have digitalized the gross specimens and tissue slices to preserve and expand the samples, and constructed pathological sample repository containing both physical samples and digital samples. Furthermore, we have established a platform for remote access, and thus improved the flexibility and autonomy of study for experimental pathology curriculum. Additionally, we have integrated clinical information of the teaching samples, and interpreted the specimens with the assistance of two-dimensional code technology and voice broadcast technology, to realize human-computer interactive learning. The questionnaire shows that the application of pathological sample repository in experimental teaching has improved student learning effect and recognition.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: There are many types of neurosurgery devices, their manipulation procedures are complex, and it is difficult for growing nurses in operating room to use them proficiently. In clinical practice, a set of detailed, intuitive, and flexible training methods are needed to improve the effectiveness of training for growing nurses in operating room. In this study, a two-dimensional (2D) code video was used to train growing nurses in operating room to operate these devices, aiming to improve their ability to do so in the clinical setting. METHODS: Before training, we created a video for every step of device manipulation, decoded the videos, generated a 2D code respectively, and scanned the code to play on a personal digital assistant (PDA). In 2019, we enrolled 32 growing nurses at the N1 level (N1 refers to the lowest level of nurses) in the north and south divisions of our hospital. A total of 16 nurses from the south division were trained with traditional methods, and 16 nurses from the north division were trained based on traditional training, plus 2D code video self-teaching. The intervention period for both groups was 6 months. After the intervention, the performance of the two groups was compared. Scores from the theoretical knowledge test, operation ability evaluation, and satisfaction of nurses from the training program were all compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The knowledge test score (83.43±6.70 vs. 78.60±6.08, P=0.041) and the operation ability evaluation (84.7±6.84 vs. 80.93±6.59, P=0.025) of nurses from the north division were higher than those from the south division; satisfaction of nurses from the north division was higher than that of nurses from the south division (97.52±3.31 vs. 93.40±5.96, P=0.022). There were also significant differences in the total scores of study ability between the two groups (97.87±12.37 vs. 90.07±12.99, P=0.021). CONCLUSIONS: The use of a 2D code video can improve nurses' ability to manipulate neurosurgery devices.

The quality of traditional Chinese medicine affects the clinical efficacy and the market research at home or abroad, which is closely related to the standardization of production. At present, Chinese market still exist in drug quality and nonstandard production phenomenon. In addition to the existing GMP production standards, it is still necessary to ensure the authenticity and reliability of traditional Chinese medicine by means of retrospect. Based on the Xinshenghua granule, starting from the authenticity of the whole process of production, this study designs and constructs the traditional Chinese medicine traceability system which is equipped with the Internet platform by using two-dimensional code as a trace tool. By making authentic record of the production process and quality transfer, it is convenient for consumers to know the drug information. The production traceability system provides guarantee for the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine development, in order to obtain the production source,the testing quality, whereabouts and responsibility.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the application effects of online tests through two-dimensional code in the course of Fundamental Nursing. Methods A total of 79 nursing students in 2016 were included in the study. Compared with traditional method in the first term, online tests through two-dimensional code were implemented in the second term. The students′ appraisal on online tests through two-dimensional code was investigated with a self-designed questionnaire. Results The students showed a positive attitude to online tests through two-dimensional code. 97.3%(71/73) of the students thought online tests through two-dimensional code was easy to implement, and 93.2%(68/73) of them agreed that online tests help them to know how they learned and improved the efficiency and quality of class. Conclusions Online tests through two-dimensional code, which are novel, energy-saving and environmental friendly,can improve students′learning interest and enhance learning effect.Therefore,it is worthy to be applied and recommended.

Objective: To design a intelligent terminal system for metric quality control of portable medical equipment so as to reduce amount of labour for metering of medical equipment and increase work efficiency. Methods: The 2-dimension barcode (2D barcode) of internet of things that based on 2D-barcode technique was applied in medical field and android 4.0 operating system was adopted in the design. Both of above techniques could help to automatically remind testing date, automatically generate 2D barcode, real-timely input testing data, automatically generate measuring error, analyze detecting record, gather detecting data and achieve other functions. Results: The intelligent terminal system could automatically remind testing date, real-timely input testing data, automatically generate measuring error and achieve other functions through primarily measured the finished products on trial. Conclusion: The intelligent terminal can fast and conveniently detect summary and manage files, and it has good extensibility. Therefore, it can promote informatization and modernization for metric quality control of the medical equipment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of two-dimensional code on nursing instruments management.Methods Information regarding nursing instruments were edited and corresponding two-dimensional codes were generated which would be pasted on both the instruments and the registration book,and nurses were notified about the twodimensional codes.The effects of the application of two-dimensional code were assessed among 145 nurses using questionnaires,and 40 nurses were evaluated for theoretical and operational skills of the instrument.Results After applying two-dimensional code in management of nursing instruments,nurses' scores for utilizing,maintenance,addressing malfunction,storage and counting were higher than previous management method for instruments(P<0.05),and the performance of theoretical and operational skills of 40 nurses were increased significantly(P<0.05).Conclusion Two-dimensional code provides valuable benefits for information storage,instrument tracking,etc.,shows great convenience and efficiency to nursing instruments management,and helps to improve nurses' application skills of instruments.
