Se realiza un estudio descriptivo y observacional sobre las funciones del personal docente, sobre todo en calidad de tutores en la enseñanza de contenidos biomédicos en la Escuela de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud de Tamale (Ghana), desde 2008 hasta 2011, a partir del aprendizaje basado en la solución de problemas. Entre las principales dificultades identificadas se encuentran: motivar la participación de los estudiantes en la clase, escuchar las inquietudes de los alumnos, así como preguntar e investigar acerca del proceso de razonamiento de los educandos; sin embargo, el interés por la aplicación de este método continúa aumentando en las nuevas universidades médicas del mundo con necesidades de desarrollo. Se brinda un acercamiento a los sustentos del enfoque creativo-vivencial del novedoso método (AU)

A descriptive, observational study is done on the functions of Teachers, especially as tutors in teaching biomedical content at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences Tamale (Ghana), from 2008-2011, based on the solution of problems. Among the main difficulties are included: encourage student participation in class, listen to the concerns of students and ask and investigate the reasoning process of students, without, interest in the application of this method continues increase in new medical colleges in the world with development needs. Entre las principales dificultades identificadas, las cuales nunca superaron las ventajas, figuraron: motivar más la participación de los estudiantes en la clase, escuchar las inquietudes de los alumnos, así como preguntar e investigar acerca del proceso de razonamiento de los educandos, cuyos porcentajes fluctuaron desde 43,3 hasta 40,0, en ese orden; sin embargo, el interés por la aplicación de este método continúa aumentando en las nuevas universidades médicas del mundo con necesidades de desarrollo(AU)

A descriptive and observational study on the teaching staff `s activities, mainly as tutors in biomedical contents teaching was carried out at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Tamale (Ghana), from 2008 to 2011, taking into account the learning based on the solution to problems. Among the main identified difficulties, which never overcame the advantages, there were: to motivate more the participation of the students in the class, to listen the concerns of the students, as well as to ask and to investigate about the process of reasoning of the students, whose percentages fluctuated from 43.3 to 40.0, in that order; however, the interest for the implementation of this method is increasing in the new medical universities of the world with development needs(AU)

Valoración de los estudiantes de medicina de Tamale sobre el método de aprendizaje basado en la solución de problemas / Evaluation of the medical students from Tamale on the learning method based on the solution to problems

Los estudiantes de la Escuela de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud de Tamale, perteneciente a la región norte de Ghana, al valorar los resultados del método de aprendizaje basado en la solución de problemas y puesto en práctica en la institución por profesores cubanos, señalaron que independientemente de las dificultades afrontadas, entre las cuales sobresalieron que algunos de ellos no comprendí­an bien las conferencias, que los docentes debian prepararse mejor para impartir los contenidos y que la duración de las clases demandaba un aumento, esa estrategia educativa generaba un ambiente educacional muy motivador para el alumnado, sobre todo en universidades médicas con necesidades de desarrollo(AU)

When evaluating the results of the learning method based on the solution to problems and put in practice in the institution by Cuban professors, the students from the Medical School and Health Sciences in Tamale, belonging to the northern region of Ghana, pointed out that independently from the difficulties, among which there were that some of them didn't understand the conferences well, that the teaching staff should get ready better to deliver the contents and that the duration of the classes demanded an increase in time, that educational strategy generated a very motivational educational atmosphere for the pupils, mainly in medical universities with development needs(AU)
