ABSTRACT

In order to propose a reliable method for assessing the safety condition for single-tower steel box girder Suspension bridges over the sea, a condition monitoring system is established by installing sensors on the bridge structure. The system is capable of gathering monitoring data that influence the safety status of the bridge. These include cable tension, load on the main tower and pylon, bearing displacement, wind direction, wind speed, and ambient temperature and humidity. Furthermore, an improved Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) algorithm is developed by integrating a hybrid triangular fuzzy number logic structure. This improvement, coupled with comprehensive fuzzy evaluation methods, improves the consistency, weight determination, and security evaluation capabilities of the AHP algorithm. Finally, taking the No.2 Channel Bridge as an example and based on the data collected by the health monitoring system, the application of the safety assessment method proposed in this paper provides favorable results in evaluating the overall safety status of the bridge in practical engineering applications. This provides a basis for management decisions by bridge maintenance departments. This project confirms that the research results can provide a reliable method for assessing the security status of relevant areas.

ABSTRACT

The sustainable development of serious games dedicated to Chinese cultural heritage faces challenges due to the lack of prolonged user engagement and iterative optimization based on long-term user feedback. This situation not only hinders the sustainable growth of these games but also limits the transmission of Chinese cultural heritage, a problem that demands urgent attention yet remains under-acknowledged. This study synthesizes literature to unearth user needs from three dimensions: motivational use, quality requirements of games, and continuous usage intention. It identifies 14 influential factors, including cognitive satisfaction, immersion satisfaction, and achievement satisfaction. Drawing from the User Experience Rubric for Educational Games-CH (UEREG-CH) evaluation rubric and the Delphi method, these factors are expanded into an evaluation system model comprising six primary indicators, 14 secondary indicators, and 38 tertiary indicators. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is utilized for expert scoring to assign weights to each indicator. This is combined with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to arrive at a final user score of Z = 3.4228, indicating that the evaluation rubric is close to 'good' and has received positive user feedback. Ultimately, this generates an evaluation rubric tailored to the specific context of serious games for cultural heritage. By integrating qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper confirms the scientific and rational nature of the evaluation rubric. The study aims to establish a user-approved rubric that encourages continuous usage intention, thereby providing effective guidance for game developers and assisting users in selecting appropriate games, while also addressing the theoretical gap in the field of evaluation for serious games related to cultural heritage.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The nutritional value of wheat is important to human health. Despite minerals being essential nutrients for the human body, they are often neglected in consideration of the nutritional quality of cereal grains. Extreme low-temperature events have become more frequent due to the current environmental unpredictability, and it is yet unknown how the mineral components in grains are affected by low temperature. Methods: To provide valuable information for enhancing the nutritional quality of wheat under potential climatic conditions, we treated different cold-sensitive wheat cultivars at four low-temperature levels during the individual and combined stages of jointing and booting in controlled-environment phytotrons. Results and Discussion: In general, the contents of P, K, Ca, and Zn in the cold-sensitive cultivar (Yangmai16) and K in the cold-tolerant cultivar (Xumai30) were enhanced by low temperature. However, the accumulation of minerals in mature grains was reduced under low-temperature treatment, except for P, Ca, and Zn in Yangmai16. In addition, the mineral content and accumulation in Yangmai16 (except for Fe) were more susceptible to low temperature during the combined stages, while the mineral content and accumulation of K, Fe, and Zn in Xumai30 were more susceptible to low temperature during the booting stage. Moreover, Yangmai16 under extremely low temperatures (T3 and T4) during booting and Xumai30 under all low-temperature treatments during the combined stages had lower comprehensive evaluation values. These findings offer a crucial reference for enhancing the nutritional quality of wheat grains under climate change.

ABSTRACT

Background: Social isolation is a serious and pervasive health issue among older people, and it is difficult to identify and assess effectively. Based on a thorough and scientific evaluation index system, AHP-Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation could be a valuable technique. Objective: It is crucial to establish interventions that focus on risk factors for the prevention of social isolation in order to give a strong scientific foundation for enhancing older people's health habits. This can be achieved by using a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to assess the risk of social isolation in older people. Methods: A hundred community members over 60 from Nanjing were selected as the evaluation subjects in China. After the element layer was split into three categories of "social risk, economic risk, and cultural risk" using the analytic hierarchy process approach, a total of 22 assessment indicators were picked to develop a risk evaluation index system. Results: The risk level of social isolation belonging to the "low risk, relatively low risk, medium risk, relatively high risk, high risk" of membership degree are respectively "0.3392, 0.2632, 0.2257, 0.1069, 0.0650". Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation analysis showed that social relations (0.4934), monthly income (0.4654), health status (0.5960) were significant factors of social isolation risk in older people. The results showed that factors related to social risk had the most significant impact on social isolation. Conclusion: It is scientific and feasible to construct the risk evaluation index model of social isolation risk for the elderly by using AHP-Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. In preventing social isolation of older people in the future, we should pay attention to the impact of social and cultural factors on them, and provide practical intervention programs and references from the government, community, family.

ABSTRACT

To regulate the safety behavior of employees and improve the occupational safety level of enterprises. Based on the perspective of safety culture, this paper designed an index system based on the four dimensions of safety concept, system, behavior, and physical culture, and it explored a new quantitative assessment method of safety culture level by introducing the concept of maturity into the evaluation of safety culture using the grey fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. Combining the characteristics of enterprise safety culture, safety culture was divided into five levels, including original level, starting level, development level, completion level, and leading level, and the maturity model of enterprise safety culture was established. Finally, taking an enterprise to be evaluated as an example, the evaluation steps and application of evaluation results were introduced. The results showed that the evaluation model of enterprise safety culture maturity constructed in this paper provides systematic measurement indexes and scientific evaluation methods for evaluating the safety culture maturity of enterprises.

ABSTRACT

The incorporation of rare earth oxides and nano-silica has been found to significantly enhance the mechanical and tribological characteristics of phenolic-based hybrid nanocomposites. In this work, the impact of these additives was investigated through single-factor experiments. The study revealed that cerium oxide and yttrium oxide were the primary factors influencing changes in the impact strength, shear strength, coefficient of friction, and wear rate. Additionally, the content of nano-silica exerted the most substantial influence on the hardness and compressive strength of the specimens. Furthermore, the material ratios of the phenolic-based hybrid nanocomposites were optimized using an orthogonal experimental design and a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. The optimal material ratio for these nanocomposites was determined to be 2% cerium oxide, 2.5% yttrium oxide, and 3% nano-silica, based on their mechanical, frictional, and wear properties. This research provides valuable insights for the development of new brake friction materials with low friction and high wear resistance and contributes to meeting the demand for polymer composites with superior mechanical performance in diverse applications.

ABSTRACT

Grassland health refers to the degree to which the integrity of soil and ecological processes is maintained, which primarily reflects the health status and productivity of grasslands. Evaluating the degree of grassland health is vital for the sustainable develop of grasslands. There are many methods for evaluating grassland health, with advantages and disadvantages for each one. However, there is still a lack of systematic literature offering an overview of methods of grassland health assessment and their applicability. We summarized 10 methods of grassland health assessment, including vigor-organization-resilience (VOR) index evaluation model, condition-vigor-organization-resilience (CVOR) index evaluation model, principal component analysis method, analytic hierarchy process, cluster analysis method, grey relational analysis, pressure-state-response evaluation model, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, comprehensive evaluation model of grassland health, and evaluation model using remote sensing technology. The advantages, disadvantages, and applicability of these methods were discussed, aiming to provide scientific basis for selecting more suitable methods of grassland health assessment for different scenarios in the future.

ABSTRACT

Rivers are beneficial to humans due to their multiple functions. However, human meddling substantially degrades the functions of rivers and constitutes a threat to river health. Therefore, it is vital to assess and maintain river function. This study used the Xiaoqing River in Shandong Province, China, as a case study and established a multilayered multifunctional river evaluation indicator system consisting of environmental function, ecological function, social function, and economic function. The weights of indicators were calculated using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the entropy method. Furthermore, a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model based on the Cauchy distribution function was developed to assess the operation status of each function in each river segment. The results of the indicator and criterion layers in different river sections varied. The multifunctionality of the river decreased from upstream to downstream. The Jinan section was the most multifunctional, followed by the Binzhou, Zibo, and Dongying sections, and finally the Weifang section. Through additional analysis, this study determined the constraint indicators and functions of each river section. Overall, the results reveal that the idea of a "multifunctional river" can advance the theoretical understanding of a river's function, and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is demonstrated to provide fresh perspectives for evaluating river function.

ABSTRACT

Since the curriculum is the core carrier to improve the level of talent cultivation in colleges and universities, strengthening the reform of course teaching and improving the quality of course teaching are fundamental to the survival and development of colleges and universities, and also an important part of higher education reform. In this study, a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and an entropy method were used to determine the weight of the core evaluation indicators of undergraduate course quality improvement, including four first-level indicators of the curriculum concept, curriculum resources, curriculum organization, and curriculum effectiveness, and 12 s-level evaluation indicators and weights. Then, based on a case study of the first-class undergraduate course "Management" of Anyang Normal University, the way to evaluate the course by the AHP and entropy method was explained. Finally, according to the evaluation results, the ideas of course construction were put forward, such as changing the course concept, enriching the course resources, paying attention to the course organization, and ensuring the course effectiveness, so as to improve the quality of undergraduate courses and also to improve the quality of undergraduate talent training with the improvement of course quality as the starting point.

ABSTRACT

The Middle Route Project of South-to-North Water Diversion (MRPSNWD) is a major strategic project to alleviate the serious shortage of water resources in northern China, and it benefited 14 large- and medium-sized cities in Henan, Hebei, Beijing, and Tianjin. Most of the predecessors used qualitative analysis to study the impact of the MRPSNWD on the water-receiving cities (WRCs), and they only considered one aspect of economy, society, resources, and environment, which could not fully reflect the impact of the MRPSNWD on the water-receiving cities. Therefore, based on the data of economic and social resources and environment of the water-receiving cities in the MRPSNWD from 2010 to 2019, an evaluation model based on entropy weight-analytic hierarchy process (AHP) fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was constructed to account for the impacts on the economy-society-resources-environment of the water-receiving cities after the operation of the MRPSNWD and scientifically evaluated the comprehensive benefits of the MRPSNWD. The evaluation results revealed that the economic and environmental impacts of the MRPSNWD on the water-receiving cities were more obvious than those on society and resources. As far as water-receiving cities were concerned, the impact of the Middle Route Project of South-to-North Water Diversion on Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, Tianjin, and Beijing was generally higher than that of other cities. As far as the Middle Route Project of South-to-North Water Diversion was concerned, its overall impact on water-receiving cities was relatively slow.

ABSTRACT

This research hopes to provide scientific research support for the optimization and development of the elderly health check application by studying the evaluation method of the elderly health check APP, so that the elderly users can easily enjoy the intelligent health check service. First, use the in-depth interview method and the affinity graph analysis method to extract the evaluation elements, and then use the comprehensive evaluation method that combines the analytic hierarchy process and the fuzzy theory to evaluate the health check APP for the elderly. The results show that in the evaluation research of the elderly health examination APP, the operation learning and information processing of the software are the most important. For the elderly, a health examination APP that can be used quickly and has clear and accurate information processing functions is the most satisfactory. When designing the elderly health check application program, the physical and mental factors of the elderly should be considered, taking the elderly as the center, and designing a health check application suitable for the elderly according to the characteristics of the elderly.

ABSTRACT

With the continuous development of China's green campus, its future construction should learn from foreign advanced development experience and achievements. On the one hand, STARS, a global advanced green campus evaluation system, should be introduced to China's green campus construction and on the other hand, the suitability for China's actual needs should also be considered. Therefore, this study mainly studies the suitability of STARS indicators for green campus in China. Taking a representative university of green campus in China as a specific case, starting from the demand side, this paper uses the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate the users' satisfaction of green campus construction. Comparing the result of satisfaction assessment with the result of STARS's sustainable evaluation, the STARS's indexes are divided into four regional grades by two-dimensional suitability evaluation coordinate system. The results show that STARS is generally suitable for green campus evaluation in China, but two of the evaluation categories need to modify the evaluation scores and weights; the other two categories are not suitable and need to be removed or changed. The purpose is to provide suggestions for the optimization of the evaluation of green campus in China.

ABSTRACT

A government acts as the main supervisor of food quality and safety. How to quantify and improve the performance and efficiency of government supervision, respectively, is an urgent problem. This study constructs a food safety supervision performance index and utilizes an analytic network process-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model to precisely quantify the performance of government supervision. The evaluation results show that, (a) although the overall situation of food quality and safety in China is controllable, the government does not do well in food safety risk supervision, food recall supervision, and accident summary supervision. (b) Internal supervision is the weakest link in food quality and safety supervision. (c) Grassroots supervision is weak especially in prefecture and county levels. (d) There is no positive correlation between the economy level and supervision level in one region. This paper contributes to accurately reflecting the status quo of China's food safety supervision and realizing the transparency of government regulatory information, which ultimately boosts the government's efficiency in food safety supervision and improves the regulatory situation.

ABSTRACT

The overmining of groundwater makes the aquifer in a coastal area prone to seawater intrusion and further leads to deterioration of water quality and ecosystem degradation. However, the vulnerability evaluation of seawater intrusion can provide a scientific basis for the prevention of seawater intrusion, and then ensure the sustainable use of groundwater. In this paper, Baihai City was taken as the study area, and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), variable power theory, and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method were used synthetically. The vulnerability of seawater intrusion in the study area was divided into lowest vulnerability, low vulnerability, medium vulnerability, and high vulnerability, and these correspond to 1739.98, 133.88, 664.32, and 737.55 km2. On this basis, combined with the groundwater quality and quantity and ecosystem of the study area, the groundwater is divided into concentrated groundwater supply area (8.16%), decentralized groundwater supply area (12.44%), protected area (78.94%), and reserved zone (0.45%), which can provide the basis for the rational exploitation and management of groundwater. By analyzing the results of constant right and variable weight evaluation, combined with the history of seawater intrusion, it is proved that the variable weight evaluation model can effectively solve the unreasonable situation caused by the internal differences of the indicator, so that the evaluation results are more in line with reality. In addition, the application of the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method makes the evaluation results clearer.

ABSTRACT

The Middle Route of the South-North Water Transfer Project in China consists of a long open canal and complex hydraulic structures. It provides drinking water for Beijing, Shijiazhuang, and other cities under extremely strict water quality requirements. In the recent decades, water pollution accidents have frequently occurred in water transfer projects. Scientific and effective risk assessment is needed to assess the impact on the overall emergency management, which should be considered to incorporate social, economic, and environmental issues in the timely response to and management of emergencies. In this study, we combine the Drivers-Pressures-State-Impact-Response model, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, and coordinated development degree model into a comprehensive risk assessment tool. This new approach was tested on an emergency drilling simulation related to a sudden MRP water pollution accident in 2016. Based on the combined integration weight ranking, "water delivery status," "pollution accident characteristics," "town size," and "public satisfaction" play prominent roles in the risk assessment. Especially, "town size" is identified as the most important influent factor. The Drivers-Pressures-State-Impact-Response model index system and comprehensive risk assessment method can be used to evaluate accidents more scientifically and versatile, which helps managers or experts to make faster and more efficient decisions.

ABSTRACT

Flood is a serious challenge that increasingly affects the residents as well as policymakers. Flood vulnerability assessment is becoming gradually relevant in the world. The purpose of this study is to develop an approach to reveal the relationship between exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity for better flood vulnerability assessment, based on the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method (FCEM) and coordinated development degree model (CDDM). The approach is organized into three parts: establishment of index system, assessment of exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity, and multiple flood vulnerability assessment. Hydrodynamic model and statistical data are employed for the establishment of index system; FCEM is used to evaluate exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity; and CDDM is applied to express the relationship of the three components of vulnerability. Six multiple flood vulnerability types and four levels are proposed to assess flood vulnerability from multiple perspectives. Then the approach is applied to assess the spatiality of flood vulnerability in Hainan's eastern area, China. Based on the results of multiple flood vulnerability, a decision-making process for rational allocation of limited resources is proposed and applied to the study area. The study shows that multiple flood vulnerability assessment can evaluate vulnerability more completely, and help decision makers learn more information about making decisions in a more comprehensive way. In summary, this study provides a new way for flood vulnerability assessment and disaster prevention decision.
